Reviews for Copthorne Hotel Grand Central
Review 1:Double glazing would have helped - we were in a lovely room upstairs at the back with views of the sea, but Saturday night we could hear the music from one of the Nightclubs until 3:00am. It's not a problem during the week though.
Review 2:Centrally located and close to everything - Cafes, Pubs, the sea and surf. Fabulous Art installations! We have stayed here before and plan to stay again later in the year.
Review 3:Noise from outside the hotel from 3.30 to 5am Saturday morning, in spite of triple glazing. Breakfasts seemed expensive and a limited range so we ate elsewhere.
Review 4:Very convenient location. Pleasant and helpful reception staff. Large, comfortable room and very good bathroom. We would stay there again.
Review 5:The lights in the bathroom was bad & the brochure said we had movies but had a new system installed a few weeks before so they no longer have movies to watch.the breakfast finishes at 9 not 9.30 as it said in the brochure.
Review 6:The bed was so comfortable.
Review 7:Could not get the TV to work but that could have been me ( although I don't think so). Was not an issue for us though.
Review 8:Nice room, suited us fine, clean, central, friendly staff, free parking.
Review 9:fridge in room was very noisy- loud hum, then shuddered loudly each time it turned off, disturbed my sleep. No food available on a Sunday.
Review 10:Friendly, helpful staff, free parking, general quietness.
Review 11:Please avoid the spa rooms at all costs. The self cleaning motor that starts up sounds like an industrial vacuum cleaner.
Review 12:The facilities onsite were great and it was central to everything.
Review 13:Room very small No draws to put clothing in, only a wardrobe, this meant clothes had to stay in suitcase which further cluttered the room. Sound insulation poor
Review 14:friendly staff, good location. Comfortable bed Free parking and WiFi
Review 15:The room was very small - not really an issue apart from a problem setting up the ironing board in relation to the only powerpoint.
Review 16:Good central location, pleasant staff.
Review 17:Spectacular accommodation. Very warm and cosy and it was nice to come back to our quiet room after a long day. Very pleased and we will definitely be back again soon.
Review 18:Hotel Restaurant was priced a little on the higher side compared with around the corner where restaurant prices were more in keeping with location., and
Review 19:Place was quiet,
Review 20:The spa bath is hard to climb into to have a shower. No porter helped with my luggage. The breakfast coffee was barely warm. The TV has very few channels.
Review 21:The staff are very friendly. Free parking is great especially so close to centre of town, so I walked everywhere. I loved the delicious breakfast muffins.
Review 22:Disappointed the restaurant was closed on the Sunday night. Late arrivals some people want to eat in, not good when you have to start looking around for food. Ihave stayed here some years ago and found it very good have to say I think it has gone backwards
Review 23:Closeness of town to go and find somewhere to eat.
Review 24:I didn't like that they swiped my credit card and said it wouldn't be charged (I understood that for security reasons) however I paid on leaving with Eftpos, then found I had also been charged on my credit card, although the charge was reversed, but it took two days before my bank showed it had been reversed. They could just swipe credit card and keep details just in case, I don't think they should charge it.
Review 25:Location, room, friendly staff
Review 26:Noisy rubbish trucks each morning at 7.00am, Good truck 7.15am left his engine running all the time and yacking to someone down stairs. Toilet cistern hissed all night
Review 27:Close to the Opera House as that was why we were there, building is tired and crubby inside the corridors and in the two rooms we had in patches, Place needs a clean up.
Review 28:Parking was very tight
Review 29:The room was excellent, exactly what was advertised (which doesn't always happen) and was perfect for us travelling with a 1 year old. Staff were excellent and helpful, particularly the reception desk and cleaning lady who was lovely and very understanding of young families and their needs.
Review 30:The fridge was quite loud. Voices carried in the hallway - because people always forget that at 3am - noones sleeping right?! Needed a few more little milks to last the night - I think the amount you pay for the room - some "real" milk would be a better deal.
Review 31:Besides what we didn't like - we liked everything else - had a good view of the sea, air conditioning worked as it was quite warm, shower was nice and although we complied with the save the environment and hung up our towels - they were replaced the next day. Bed was comfortable. Staff were pleasant and there are more parking options over the road which is where we parked as it was all full the 2nd night we were there.
Review 32:WIFI went in and out a bit. The room could have had a few more dishes for those like us eating in.
Review 33:Comfortable room and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 34:The bed was like a trampoline, amplifying any movement. The shower is self cleaning and makes a horrible loud sucking noise three times the hour after being used - so don't have a shower before you go to bed unless you are a deep sleeper.
Review 35:Staff were friendly, room was very clean. The location is fantastic.
Review 36:1 of the pillow cases had a stain...no biggy...a couple of the spa button cover things were in the plug hole, again...no biggy!
Review 37:A girl called Stacey brought us more coffee and milk with a smile! It's the little things:)
Review 38:Booking.com and hotel policy didn't match, which had the potential to derail the booking.
Review 39:Duty manager sorted out an inconsistency with the booking at no extra cost to us.
Review 40:It was just average yet we were paying a lot for the room. Bed seemed a little small and was hard. There were curtains in the bedroom but only blinds in the other area that would not close. Internet speed test showed 0.2mb down and 0.3 up and I reverted to 3G via my phone.
Review 41:We stayed in one of there top rooms which had a spa bath which was great. It was nice and spacious and a good room. On site restaurant was handy for getting a late night coffee. The location was right in the heart of town.
Review 42:breakfast-better to go to café next door
Review 43:frontdesk staff-so helpful and friendly. Smiley faces and a good attitude. Location excellent everything you need in walking distance.
Review 44:The central location meant ease of access to inner city restaurants. I was travelling with my elderly mother so requested a twin room. Expected a single and a double bed, got two double beds - excellent. We had driven 3.5 hours so wanted to sleep before heading onwards the next day. We slept soundly; it was quiet.
Review 45:Poor Menu Drinks expensive, no draught beer (people can drink bottled beer at home or in their room)no atmosphere in bar - no happy hour staff looked bored
Review 46:Location Rooms were comfortable
Review 47:There are some very strange self cleaning jacuzzi baths iinstalled which self clean (very noisily) during the night. When we complained we got an arrogant, dismissive reply - aren't they just wonderful. If you want a good sleep stay elsewhere. Also be prepared to leave by 1000?? for the interest of the hotel rather than your comfort.
Review 48:The location was fine, the receptionists were all very efficient and friendly
Review 49:the shower had one jet of water that came out at the top of the shower rose and hit you right in the face. Very annoying. The fold out sofa bed is broken.+
Review 50:everything was great except ......
Review 51:Parking was OK if I got a slot outside but had to walk a long way when I had to go underground - if I missed the door into the hotel it was because it wasn't well signposted.
Review 52:The room was clean, the heating worked, the TV worked, and the bed was comfortable. It was what I was looking for.
Review 53:Limited bathroom supplies and no fan in the bathroom. No price list for mini bar so didn't use it. Felt it was over priced for what we got as it was all rather basic.
Review 54:Staff were excellent.
Review 55:I was asked to pay 1.5% surcharge on my checkout which wasn't mentioned at all when I checked In.though it was only 1.5% but I wasn't pleased that just spoiled my whole trip to New Plymouth and my holiday.will book with copthorne ever again.
Review 56:It was cheap and nasty, paper thin walls and despite some modernisation was quite unpleasant. Certainly did not look like the pictures, our room had one single window that was an old fashion safety class that didn't even open.
Review 57:Location was good
Review 58:close to town, friendly staff
