Reviews for Abisko Lodge

Review 1:The staff were very friendly. On arrival we were given a map of the town with tips on where to eat, drink and shop - the Mexican tapas restaurant was a delicious recommendation! The bus to the ski field stopped right outside the hotel and we were able to book the bus through the hotel - it was very easy and efficient!

Review 2:Sharing laundry facilities.

Review 3:We were travelling as 2 families and this place was perfect to stay with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Lots of good space to eat and relax by the fireplace after a day on the slopes.

Review 4:Was advertised as a Bed and Breakfast but brekky wasn't available and while that wasn't an issue for us - some might find this aspect misleading.

Review 5:We needed a bed for the night and the lodge was perfect for that. We also enjoyed the lounge area - being able to sit and talk and not be cooped up in a bedroom - made everything feel more homey.

Review 6:The fact that the spa was not working and you had to pay extra to even use the spa. At $140 I think that the spa could be included, if not, it must be very clearly spelt out on the booking and info. sheet so guests are informed.

Review 7:Way too expensive for only staying one night. They advertised with sauna and spa but we had to pay extra. For $156 a night (!) during skiseason possibly one of the cheapest lodges in the area but we expected a little more comfort. For that price a continental breakfast, which was priced with $10, or the spa could have been included in the price. Expected more. Also the request with an early check-in before heading up the mount didnt work at all, although we received a confirmation for it weeks in advance. The room wasnt ready. Sorry but next time we are going to book a different lodge.

Review 8:The staff was really nice and welcoming. Ensuite bathroom which we didnt expect. Clean.

Review 9:A miserable room and miserable place. The price was extortianate for what it was. We were just passing through for one night en route to Queenstown. It is the most basic accommodation and should not cost more than $70 per night at most.

Review 10:It was a roof over our heads and it was clean.

Review 11:They tryed to charge our credit card before we even got there thats rude! and unacceptable. there was weird green stuff in the bathroom sink.

Review 12:Nothing.

Review 13:small room expensive for quality but maybe that's what you get in the location rooms weren't very soundproof quite clean but bathroom rubblish had not been emptied

Review 14:very helpful and friendly staff handy to town

Review 15:Friendly greeting. Keen to give information about area, facilities. Good heating once we worked out where it was switched from

Review 16:I would have liked to have a toaster etc in the room and fresh milk. very expensive for what it was

Review 17:very clean room

Review 18:The very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 19:A very friendly welcoming place to stay

Review 20:There is a guest room, which you can not have your own drink there, it was annoying. They have two staff, a lady and a guy, lady is very kind friendly, but the guy was kind of serious and unfrienly.

Review 21:It was a clean and value for money.

Review 22:No air conditioning or fan,pay for spa,but these are only minor things,I guess a ceiling fan or similar would be a good improvement.

Review 23:Friendly staff cosy rooms, close to town, easy to get to staff informative.

Review 24:A very cosy small establishment just a few metres walk from the centreof Methven. The room had very comfy beds and even a fridge in the roomwhich was great. Abisko may not be of modern standard but its definatelywell maintained, clean, fresh, centrally located & it has everythingone needs for a peaceful nights stay. We were in Methven during summertime which is a quiet time but the two main pubs in town were open &serve a great meal. Methven had some nice scenic drives not far awaythat offered walking tracks. We had a pleasant stay & we felt thatwe got a nice warm welcome from the helpful owner. If I were passingthrough Methven ever again id definately stay there as it was good valuefor money.

Review 25:Considering the amout paid was expecting alot and at least a 4 starvalue instead got a room with more beds than requested booked adouble room got a family room which also smelt badly toilet andshower facilities very cramped and small, poor height on shower, noisy during the night, outlook onto rear carpark, all featuresmentioned such as spa & sauna at extra cost and very poor setup, would not recommend it to anyone looking for value for money or atleast a minimum level of comfort.

Review 26:Very friendly staff and they made us feel welcome

Review 31:Friendly staff Very Clean

Review 32:No chair in room.

Review 33:The Blue Pub in the town centre.

Review 34:No crockery or cuttlery to have self catering breakfast

Review 35:Central location
