Reviews for Kawaguchiko Country Cottage Ban
Review 1:I got an excellent view of Mt Fuji. The cabin is on a little mountain. It's clean and well equipped. The host is friendly and drove us to the supermarket.
Review 2:The location is not accessible to public transportation. Although it's just around 1km. and a pleasant walk.
Review 3:The cottage was very clean, fully furnished and comfortable. The Staff were very friendly and accommodating.
Review 4:It is a long way from other facilities if you don't have a car.
Review 5:The room was fantastic and I will stay there again if I get the chance. The staff very accomdating and helpful, and they spoke a high level of English.
Review 6:This was the worst experience we have had here in Japan. First of all,the fee was not what was expected. Increase in cost of 200000 yen anight and the pictures of the reserved cabin did not match what wereceived. I had submitted 5 guests but when we checked in it stated 4 intheir paperwork to which they charged us an extra 5000 yen for the extraguest even though they placed us in a cabin which slept 8 people. Somepart of the responsibility to this is a Booking.com issue which I willaddress in a separate report. Secondly, we were placed in a'cabin' above the public baths: Cabin #10. Both nights the menwere outrageously loud, rude, and crass. We witnessed from our balconymen screaming...men yelling...men climbing the fence naked, etc. Wecomplained to the staff and their exact response was,"Oh, they areJapanese students. Nothing we can do. Bathhouse closes at 11:00."So basically we had to live with the out-of-control behavior. We had oursmall children with us and we were awake on and off all night. Once thebath house was closed, they came near our bedroom window to continuetheir loud singing and raucous behavior. I expressed our concern as wechecked out and all they would do was give us a 5000 Yen discount. Thiswas horrendous behavior in regard to customer service. The property isnice...but beware it could be a very expensive and uncomfortable get-away. The least of our dislikes, the beds are hard as rocks and nocomfortable sitting arrangement what-so-ever in the cabin. We werecharged 350000 yen for sub-par accommodations!
Review 7:We liked that our view of Fuji was amazing.
Review 8:A little inaccessible, had to take a cab in. But the view alone is worth it.
Review 9:Very helpful and friendly owners! Quaint and spacious cottages. Barbecueing with view of Mt. Fuji. Dat sexy view. You won't regret staying here.
Review 10:Whole beautiful cottage to ourselves overlooking mt fuji. You can make a futon bed, or sleep on the western bed. Free shuttle to the supermarket and station. Full kitchen and your own bbq too. This was the highlight of our japan trip. A quiet little spot to relax and unwind. Can't recommend it highly enough
Review 11:I stayed at this hotel twice. First time was no complaint. Then for the second time its a disappointment, The lady boss try to charge me more money because i was staying with my children. No hotel would charge me an extra money because i am travelling with my children, unless i request an extra bed or something else. but They do not even provide me an extra bed or towels or anything for the children. btw, my children is 3 year old and a baby.
Review 12:big cottage with excellent view.
Review 13:The cabins (at least some of them) share a wall with another cabin so you can hear the people next to you. This wouldn't have been a problem but our dog decided that it was worth barking about in the middle of the night!
Review 14:The views from the cabins are phenomenal. It was great to be able to bring our dog with. If you are traveling by car it is easy to get there and around the area - great location!
Review 15:Nothing much !! IT WAS A GOOD STAY
Review 16:I can't really describe this awesome stay. Anyways, they offer single cottages to travellers and it gave residents a very very good view of Mount Fuji especially in the morning (and also lake kawaguchiko) Many locals stay there and I would recommend this place only to travellers that rented a car as the hotel is quite far from the main road and you would need to travel to the nearby supermarket (Ogino) in the kawaguchiko town to get groceries! You can even cook food in the cottages as even individual cottage offers everything you need to cook (e.g. stove, pots & pans, oven, mircowave) WE EVEN DID A SHABU SHABU. You'll see many locals there enjoying a relaxing time :)
Review 17:Too bad, the hot water from the bathroom vanity tap is not working. We are very cold when using it to do our cleaning and brushing.
Review 18:Nice view of Mount Fuji, Clean & big room Staff are nice, polite and helpful
Review 19:Nothing much
Review 20:Nice big house with a loft & 2 bedrooms! Very clean & well maintained. Full kitchen facilities. Good insulation from the cold weather. Balcony has a good view of Mount Fuji!!!
Review 21:Nothing!
Review 22:Boss is a very friendly lady, can speak relatively good English. Location is near walking distance to lake (10-15mins), and has superd view of Mt Fuji from the bedroom. The pictures you see in the gallery do little justice to the nice cottages. They do provide pick up service from Kawaguchiko station. Driver is also very friendly and accommodating.
Review 23:-very noisy from the nearby cottage all night long. -need to pay extra for Onsen.
Review 24:-view on top of Kawawaguchiko -feel comfort staying inside cottage -value for money
Review 25:Can't remember.
Review 26:Great location with an excellent view on Mt. Fuji from the living room. The cottage was spacy and comfortable, the staff warm and efficient.
Review 27:Spiders on the tree next to room. Not a big problem for us. Environment so nature.
Review 28:Room face mt.fuji. Very clean. Equipment well. Host really nice. View fantastic.
Review 29:It is kind of double cottage on one beam (house structure) whenever your neighbor (guest in room next door) move you will feel it. Unfortunately, my neighbor was family with small kids. The kid run around till late night and made noise that cause us hardly slept. Beside that we were the first guess who booked for half board that inclusive of breakfast and dinner. They were yet ready and did not make to dinner themselves. The food was poor quality and distasteful!...It is truly not worth for money.!!!!! I would highly recommend to just stay there, don't take neither breakfast nor dinner....
Review 30:Lovely staff. They are all helpful and kind.
Review 31:The location a little bit out of the way, not in the route of retro bus. But the hotel staff kindly picked us up in the kawaguchiko station if we call them :) Quite hard to connect to wifi fr the room, and it seemed to connect only to 1 device.
Review 32:The breakfast (nice and a LOT, prepared freshly) The transport (they bring us back n forth station n stop by supermarket sometimes) Private bath tub in the room The cottage (HUGE n comfy) The staff (very friendly) The fuji view fr hotel The onsen Everything!!
Review 33:It was far from the city and a supermarket but they drove us in their van to a supermarket so we could get food to make dinner. If you have your own car, it is not a problem.
Review 34:It was a beautiful and quaint Japanese-style cottage. We had a view of Mt. Fuji from our balcony!
Review 35:Our cottage was really spacious, big enough for at least 10 people with luggages. Homely and well equipped kitchen. We planned a BBQ and the staff set up the pit for us efficiently with everything provided except the food which we bought from a nearby supermarket.
Review 36:Only Japanese instructions for some devices; 15 minute cab ride from the station (but view is worth it..)
Review 37:Friendly staff (offered to drive us back to the station), great view of Mt. Fuji from terrace, house/kitchen fully equipped
Review 38:If you are expecting a good and more relaxing hotspring, DONT! The facilities in this place is not enough! Please add a small shop for some important necessities because those who went there without a car will find it hard to buy some important thing!
Review 39:The staff was so friendly and the place were clean. Perfect for a group and family! I will definitely check in in this place again! Great view of Mt. Fuji
Review 40:None
Review 41:The hospitality is a big star here. We like Ms. Reiko who is taking good care of us. She speaks very good English and has lots of sense of humours. Other staff are also very nice. They pick up from the train station and send us back with no charge. They even took us to supermarket to buy food. They made us feel like family. We definitely go back to Country Cottage Ban as well as highly recommend this place to others.
Review 42:Location is abit off if you don't drive. No nearby place for meal. Only room tub avaliable and public onsen is chargable. Cottage not sound proof, very noisy with others BBQ outside.
Review 43:Cottage style accommodation with BBQ facilities outside your cottage.
Review 44:Location might be a little off if you don't drive.
Review 45:The cottage was spectacular! Really clean and huge! Staff could speak a little English and they were really nice. Had a nice view of Mt Fuji from the balcony as well!
Review 46:We had a beautiful view of Mount Fuji and Lake Kawaguchiko from our lounge and balcony. The facilities were perfect and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. It was a fantastic stay. Thank you all there.
Review 47:Not easy to get here from bus stop.
Review 48:The room is very comfort with 2bathroom and a pantry ,very nice view I can see Fuji when I have breakfast from our room.staff also very helpful he took us to supermarket:))
Review 49:Too far to get to this hotel by yourself, anyway there is a pick up service.
Review 50:Compare to very small Japanese style room in other hotel, this is like a palace!
Review 51:This place is incredible. Private cottage (for 2, but easily could have slept 8) with the most unbelievable view of Mt. Fuji. Great space, easy for a cab to get to (only about 2000 Yen), and the hotel will drive you back to Kawaguchiko Station for free (they might pick up to, we just didn't figure that out in advance). This would be an epic getaway with a group of friends, and was a perfect romantic couples retreat!
Review 52:That our stay wasn't longer!
Review 53:The staff were amazingly helpful and friendly. The cabin was very spacious and well appointed. The location was beautiful and serene.
Review 54:Couldn't think of any complaints!
Review 55:Located a bit out of town, country cottage ban is situated on the slopes facing the lake and Mt.Fuji. The views of Mt.Fuji are beautiful from here. Our cottage was well equiped, comfortable, spacious and very clean. Stable WiFi internet connection too. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They can drive you to town for groceries or to JR station. We stayed for 3 days, wish we stayed longer.
Review 56:No nearby restaurants. Plan to cook but don't worry they will take you to the local super market.
Review 57:Great view! Relaxing atmosphere. The staff provided transportation back to the train station.
Review 58:It's a bit of a trek to get into town but the management has a shuttle which can be scheduled to drive to the closest grocery store and back, as well as to the train station.
Review 59:Really comfortable wood cabin with WiFi and a more-than-adequate kitchen. Full bathroom with two separate toilets. One room had two beds and the other was open with 3 mattresses folded in the closet. The upstairs space had tons of space as well. The view of Mt. Fuji from the balcony was amazing and the staff were more than helpful.
Review 60:Kitchen facilities and provision are too basic.Should have another bathroom. Washing machine, hanging rope for loundary are not available. If there is kiosk or mini market, it will be much better.
Review 61:The location is awesome, can have clear view of Mt Fuji from the balcony. The owner is very friendly and helpful. The most important thing is they are English speaking. The unit is big to accommodate for 6 - 8 persons. There are 2 separate toilets in the unit which is convenience for a group stay. There is free transportation arrangement for bus station pick up for check in, station transfer after check out. And upon requested transport for grocery shopping.
Review 62:Great staff and also a good spot for view of Mt Fuji. Even the Ofuro has the Mt Fuji view. Quiet and Calm place. Best to go with a bunch of friends.
Review 63:a bit far from Kawaguchiko town and nearest bus stop. i would recommend to rent a car if you plan to stay here
Review 64:location - side of a hill, beautiful scenery of the Fujisan cottage ban is big and roomy and complete with self catering facilities - you can buy your food at the supermarket and cook by yourself here
Review 65:Distance from town is a little draw back but the hotel provides an excellent transport system and will pick you up on call. There are no restaurants or shops within walking distance so buy some food before arriving.
Review 66:The best thing by far about our stay at Country Cottage Ban were our hosts. Reiki was the kindest lady with a lovely smile and personality. She and her colleague were so helpful, spending huge amounts of time helping me make onwards travel bookings. The cottages are lovely, perfect for families, my children loved experiencing the Japanese style living. Set up high on a hill right near lovely peaceful pine forests you have a great view of Mt Fuji (when the sun shines!)
Review 67:We hate the kind of attitude of the assisting guy assigned in the morning during our check-out. Very rude. Again, somebody somehow should understand english so that guests can be entertained well.
Review 68:We love the place very much, very serene.
Review 69:Extra charged for onzen and bicycle. Difficult to go into town for travel or find something to eat (the staff have to take us there)
Review 70:Private space, cooking in our room. Staff brought us to supermarket to find fresh meal to cook. So funny.
Review 71:Though it is a little further out of town than many other lodgings,Kawaguchiko country cottage ban was in the perfect location for us. Itis situated higher up on a hillside so the views of Fuji are not impededby buildings. The staff were extremely helpful and lovely. And the hotbaths were amazing. The morning view of snow capped Fujisan whilesoaking in steaming water was sublime. The cafe wasn't running asthe Owner was sadly in hospital which made food a little less available, however the staff (the extremely sweet lady at reception who's namewe can't quite remember) called a local restaurant for us whodelivered straight to our door for 200¥ extra to the menu price. Thecabin was gorgeous, extremely comfortable and spacious for 4 people (wecouldn't decide where to sleep) had everything we could need interms of facilities and of course had views of Fuji. We all agreed wewished we were staying for an entire week. Stay here.
Review 72:You would need to have a car to get here and around, we had one so not a problem for us. Found it difficult to find on GPS.
Review 73:Quiet location with beautiful Mt Fuji views. Friendly staff. Warm, ample lounging areas, self-catering facilities.
Review 74:Gracious kind hosts View of Fuji right out our window Shuttle to town spacious cabins No food on site, but hosts will take you to the market for groceries
Review 75:Only 1 aircon for a double storey property, can get very cold at night. The shower wasn't very hot either.
Review 76:Mt Fuji Scenery is just outside the window. Great resort to stay for a few days if you have many family or friend with you.
Review 77:The driver who drove us to the hotel was a bit cold, but i think im just nitpicking.
Review 78:Everything about it; locations, the room/cottage itself, the size, the view of mt. Fuji. Simply i loved everything.
Review 79:Free wifi Near a small forest and a temple Neat an amazing lake The staff is really nice The price is good Free transportation to the nearst supermarket and to the station
Review 81:this is a very very nice hotel. staffs (especially the lady staff) are very friendly and helpful. very good location , rooms are very clean , spacious , nice scenery ( you can see the Fuji Mountain from your room ), i surely stay in this hotel during my future visit in Fuji Mountain 河口湖
Review 82:As tourists traveling by public transport & the location of the resort I would have liked to see a shop/cafe where you could purchase some food if caught out without any food. I do appreciate that the resort makes it clear that you need to provide your own food...which we did :)
Review 83:The staff are fantastic, very helpful, way beyond our expectations and we thank them very much for all their help! The location is a bit out of the way but a shuttle service is provided and it has wonderful views of the mountains, whilst Mt Fuji was covered in cloud it didn't matter as the view from our cabin window more than made up for it. Our cabin was spotless and comfortable, excellent wifi...wouldn't hesitate to stay there again....for longer next time:)
Review 84:None.
Review 85:Beautiful cabin, beautiful wood surface all over. Nice layout, great design. Everything is so comfortable. Host were kind and helpful. Feels like home. Though it is uphill far from main road and it took us 15-20 mins to walk from cabin, we enjoyed the walk and scenery of farmers's houses and small well kept farms along the way that we do not want to put it in the 'Did not like" box.
Review 86:We stayed in many different places during our holiday in Japan but this was my favourite. Breathtaking views of Mt. Fiji. The cottages were well equipped and comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Lovely breakfast in the little cafe on site.
Review 87:Room too big for a small group eg a couple. Pricing, if possible can be tailored more afforable for couples.
Review 88:View overlooking Mt Fuji. Unfortunately, it was cloudy when we were there.
Review 89:Was far from the town so not in a great location and the room smelt of stale ciggarettes.
Review 90:Lovely staff really helpful and make an effort that you're comfortable! Also drove us around when we needed too.
Review 91:located on a small mountain in the middle of villiage, quiet and nearby there is river. if you want to live opposite to the river, it is not the best choice. but I like it
Review 92:one building contains 4 rooms, can accomodate for one big family. nice staff, bicycle available for rental, good experience to go by bicycle around the lake
Review 93:The hot spring facility is a little bit small and the quality of the hot spring water was a little bit below average of what one can expect from other bigger hotels with a decent spa facilities. The view of Mt. Fuji from the tub was excellent though.
Review 94:This is a cute cottage. The rooms were spacious and clean and the cottage staff were very friendly and helpful. We especially loved the view of Mt. Fuji from this place. Beautiful! We would definitely come again.
Review 95:Nothing really just showers not quite hot enough for me!
Review 96:This was the most friendly and accommodating place. The staff would do anything to help even taxi to wherever we wanted. Super very cute and clean place with plenty of room and great view of Fuji after we climbed it!!!! Thank you for having and looking after us!
Review 97:There were no bath towels, but I do believe she mentioned you might be able to get some from the desk.
Review 98:The staff went out of their way several times for me and my friends giving us rides to town multiple times, picking us up when they saw us walking, allowing us to accommodate another friend free of charge, even going as far as giving us free umbrellas when they found out my friend did not bring a jacket with him. They remembered all four of our names the entire time we were there. They were genuinely some of the nicest people I've ever had the pleasure to meet. Even with the large amount of cloud cover in front of Fuji the view is still spectacular. The cabin itself was very spacious, easily fitting 4 of us comfortably. I would recommend to anyone anytime they are in the area and plan on returning at some point myself.
Review 99:The heater probably not warm enough.
Review 100:Mount Fuji view.
Review 101:onsen is too small
Review 102:The location is really hard to find, best if you call them to pick you.
Review 103:Love the view from the cottage, especially in the mornings
Review 104:Would be perfect if they provide housekeeping.
Review 105:very cosy cottage, good location & amazing staff. Would love to come back.

Review 123:The entire experience
Review 124:The staff were so nice and helpful. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.
Review 125:Fantastic stay with cozy environment and friendly staffs.
