Reviews for Hotel Chablis Palenque
Review 1:wifi very poor,it is the place for big tourist groups, no vibe of local culture at all. the city itself is actually not much different, except for the ruins.
Review 2:spacious room, modern international stile. clean, helpful staff (we could borrow the umbrella for the whole day).
Review 3:Awesome spot for staying in Palenque, and great value for money. When our travel plans changed, and we couldn't get an ADO bus out of Palenque on the evening we wanted, they accommodated another nights stay at incredibly short notice.
Review 4:Staff rude and unprofessional, useless. Stay away from the restaurant, expensive and the quality is very poor and bad cooked, there are better place in the neighborhood
Review 5:Good location, close to bus station and good restaurants. Comfortable room and swimming pool.
Review 6:If a tour bus arrives or leaves early in the morning there is a lot of noise.
Review 7:The staff was very friendly. The room was spacious and very clean. You can find many restaurants close by. The Hotel is in walking distance from the city and you can reach the ruins easily with public transport.
Review 8:AC was noisy. Attempts to fix were not successful. Wifi free but weak.
Review 9:Clean, comfortable room. Good staff. Included breakfast was adequate. Restaurant had good selection of great food. Nice pool, small.
Review 10:Room 302 didn't have a good WIFI connection so had to go down to the restaurant for internet access
Review 11:THe hotel location is beautiful and walking distance from the bus station ADO where you can also have the option to go on a public transportation to the archaeological zone of Palenque. The restaurant has a good service and quite of options in their menu. The staff in general was VERY kind and helpfull.
Review 12:Sort of plain, but that's not always a bad thing.
Review 13:This place had most of the amenities and comfort of standard chain hotels (think Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn), but had some local character which is rare with chains (including small private balcony overlooking city). It is located in the hotel zone of Palenque, which normally would irritate me, but there's not much to the town anyway. The hotel zone is actually quite nice with places to eat and stuff, without being over-the-top touristy. The bridge connecting the city is now complete, and there are two lively bars right across it (not the type I would take a woman to). We stayed over on a Saturday with no noise to speak of.
Review 14:There are small insects, leafs falling into the pool during the entire day, would be nice if the hotel staff could remove those periodically.
Review 15:Really nice hotel, perfect for resting after a long day at the archeological site. Rooms have a proper shower. Within walking distance of the ADO bus station (max. 10 min walking). Nice little swimming pool. The hotel restaurant is affordable with a good variety of good quality dishes.
Review 16:The food at the restaurant wasn't as good as we were hoping for. Wifi only really worked in reception area.
Review 17:The pool was refreshing, room was clean and large and had a comfortable bed. We were able to pay more to stay in the room until our night bus which was brilliant. Great location for day trips to the ruins and waterfalls. The desk was always helpful and the security and staff were hard working which made us feel looked after.
Review 18:Staff was very nice but didn't speak english at all, wich is fine to me but for a 4 Star Hotel is a little lousy to be honest! And the laundry Service was waaayyyy too expensive (260 Pesos for just a few shirts and shorts is crazy!)!
Review 19:Big Room with a huge, comfy bed, very clean and well built, the pool area is great too! The Hotel is right in between ADO Station and the city centre, thats perfect. For us it was the best stay of our trip so far!
Review 20:As with a lot of places in Mexico although prices are quoted in dollars you are then charged in pesos. This is as descibed on booking.com but means you're subject to the hotels exchange rates which are quite variable.
Review 21:Nice little pool. Good location 5 minutes walk from bus station.
Review 22:I stayed in this faceless hotel for a night. After I checked out in the morning and waiting for my bus in front of the hotel an employee come to me and ask in a very bad English about a towel that they are missing in my room. After a 10 minutes discussion I decided to open my bag to bring this to an end. Of course there was no towel. This never happened in my life! Btw cause I arrived late in the evening and it was raining like hell I had to eat in the restaurant. You should go there only in emergency. Better you buy Nachoes.
Review 23:It is not the same level of 4 stars as hotels in the cities but still comfortable and clean.
Review 24:Super nice staff who let us use the swimming pool while waiting for our night bus even we already checked-out.
Review 25:In the pool area, no sunbeds were provided.
Review 26:Very nice and charming hotel! The rooms are quite perfect, but without any luxury. Nice area outside to relax with a pool. Very good service and helpful stuff.
Review 27:No breakfest and yet alot of money Stuff that do only the minimum Dont help with tours, dont speak english and just try to take more money on breakfest Disapointing
Review 28:Nice and clean
Review 29:Although the staff was good, nobody spoke English. I think it could be improved for this hotel category and price.
Review 30:The room was new and very big, as well as the king size bed.friendly staff.
Review 31:Did not like the act that they did not have the option of putting the breakfast on my tab, and that the first thing the waiter said when he approached my table was to ask if I'm paying cash or credit and wouldn't even put my order through to the kitchen before this matter was settled.
Review 32:Room was comfortable, staff were friendly.
Review 33:On Sunday there are no pool lounges left because every single one istaken by college kids who are allowed to use the pool facilities fornothing, don't have to order, and amazingly there are very cutegirls in bikinis that don't have to buy anything to stay. I willnever stay here on a weekend again because it is like aSorority/Fraternity house party.
Review 34:Our only complaint is the noise around the pool. Our room was above the pool and all day and into the evening little kids screamed at the top of they lungs. We understand kids love to play around the pool, but this was beyond having fun. We blame the hotel for not having a policy in place to regulate the noise level. When we complained they looked at us like we were aliens and did nothing. We've been in many hotels where the patents were expected to control their kids, but at this hotel that didn't happen. It made for a very uncomfortable stay.
Review 35:The hotel was very clean and well maintained. The staff was very friendly. Really liked the location. It's an easy 3 blocks to the bus station and an easy walk into the center of town.
Review 36:The room was very clean, great air conditioning. The hotel's facilities were beautiful, the poolside with nice decoration and layout, very relaxing atmosphere. Close to Palenque Ruins.
Review 37:The wifi in my room didn't work very well. It didn't reach the beds at all so I had to sit at the lobby or pool to use it.
Review 38:The bed was extremely comfortable as well as the rest of the amenities. The restaurant food was great. The pool was lovely.
Review 39:Free parking, very good wi-fi, nice room, comfortable bed, good shower, nice jacuzzi and swimming pool. Good value. The 2 for 1 beer special at the restaurant was music to an Irishman´s ears
Review 40:nothing
Review 41:This hotel is located just five minutes’ walk from the ADO Bus Station. Rooms are very clean, spacious, with a balcony, two double beds, Wi-Fi and A/C. The Hotel also has a good sized swimming pool and a restaurant. Staff were lovely and very helpful.
Review 42:Airco not strong enough to cool down room (it was 37 deg Celsius outside). WiFi broke down.
Review 43:Good location in new part of Palenque. Comfortable rooms/beds.
Review 44:The front desk staff not helpful with English speakers. Worst we have found on our three weeks of travel. We speak a little Italian and fluent French and still they were hopeless.
Review 45:The place was fabulous. Great location very restful. The pool was great at the end of a busy sight seeing day.
Review 46:Nice room with a balcony (on a quiet street), swimming pool, possibility to eat breakfast/lunch/dinner at a nice café just next doors (we did not use the hotel restauration services).
Review 47:Food and beverages are over-priced
Review 48:Large, clean room & comfy bed Good wi-fi coverage Nice pool and lounge area Great location; near ruins; other good restaurants right next door/close by Free, secure parking area
Review 49:when I made the booking I requested a room far away from the noise area and they gave us the room in the NOISE area close to the restaurant.......
Review 50:The area
Review 51:All the comforts in a tropical oasis just across from the (new) bus station. Palenque is an unremarkable town (people come for the nearby Mayan ruins) but the locale of this hotel - a verdant refuge called Canada - is a treat. Since being taken over by the nearby Hotel Tulipanes, all aspects of Hotel Chablis have been updated; a high level of comfort and service is the result.
Review 52:The price I thought we were paying ended up costing about 25% more than expected. I can understand inflation over one year ago, but we felt gouged. Wifi in the room was quite weak as well. Will look at other hotel options in the future.
Review 53:Clean, relatively comfortable.
Review 54:Nothing special, hotel was quite basic in decoration and room comfort, but I don't think you need anything more in Palenque
Review 55:Clean rooms, good location, very helpful people at reception
Review 56:Typical lack of soundproofing combined with other travelers' poor manners: up at 5 am and having a loud conversation. no one was ever seen at hotel's restaurant.
Review 57:Walk to bus station, combi to ruins. Even a local supermarket that had great bread.
Review 58:It was all good.
Review 59:very modern hotel and helpful staff. Very good WiFi and location just 5 minutes walk from ADO bus station. Good restaurant in hotel . Recommended.
Review 60:Our waiter told us we could charge our drinks to the room. It turns out the restaurant wanted payment that night, so they came and knocked on our door after we had gone to sleep.
Review 61:Quiet area, beautiful brand new paving bricks on the street, very short walk to bustling downtown, great restaurant across the street.
Review 62:Style tourisme de masse . Without charm Room very noisy . All the hotel is noisy . If you have non éducated people and children the same its horrible .And the mexicain tourits are very expansive and noisy ...
Review 63:- very bad wifi connection in the room, need to reconnect every three minutes - very noisy if you have a room on the ground floor next to the pool, noise starts already very early in the morning - thin walls so you hear everything from next door
Review 64:hotel is situated in a complex of modern and new restaurants and other hotels like a compound with a lot of guard, it's a prison
Review 65:very professional staff, very friendly and educated spacious room
Review 66:The staff was correct but for us a bit too correct (but that's how we see it) Breakfast was not so good; the restaurant next to the hotel is very good !
Review 67:Very clean and comfortable beds; La cabana is nice too stay. Great hotel for a few nights. We got sick and therefore were also very thankfull for the cable television :-)
Review 68:- The quality of the restaurant is just standard, nothing more. - Too demanding for payment. A waiter went to our room at 9.00pm for a signature related to the breakfast we had ordered the next day. Should be more confident in the customers' payment willigness.
Review 69:Perfect location, close to the station and nice restaurant Maya Canada. Excellent comfort and cleaniness. Nice swimming pool.
Review 70:The soap was not of good smell, the room service call really exhausted because I spoke un poco Spanish and the other side barely spoke English, a bit inconvenience since there was a road-repairing
Review 71:Room was as good as it should be, the staffs were really helpful, last room check of the checkout they found my friend's iPad, we were so grateful for that
Review 72:Road works at front of hotel, so secure car parking was not available - we parked the car on the street instead. Swimming pool smell badly of chlorin.
Review 73:massive super-king size bed, excellent quality bedding, spacious room, on-site restaurant, swimming pool. Clean, modern building. Giant Supermarket 10 min walk away.
Review 74:We saw some reviews about the hotel being not very well soundproofed. We weren't scared by this as it is written about a lot of places and in general we never any problems with some sound. In this place however the noise was of a different level. The sound gets amplified a lot in the corridors and we were woken up by the television in the room next to us.
Review 75:Comfortable room, nice staff, just a nice hotel in general.
Review 76:very noisy rooms, staff did not want to find a solution Poor breakfast offer Dirty pool area
Review 77:Located close to Mayan ruins and good for taking trips in the neighbourhood Good and silent air conditioning
Review 78:The internet wasn't working when we were staying there which was annoying. Not the hotel's fault but recommend to just take the waterfall tour and catch a collectivo from the roundabout to the ruins. The tour offered by the hotel takes you to the ruins and then drops you back to the hotel in midday. Another driver then picks you up for the afternoon - better to save your money since the tour just provides transportation and not an actual guide.
Review 79:Good location, only 5 minute walk from the ADO bus terminal and 10 minutes walk to a very large shopping centre.
Review 80:zero english speaking at the reception
Review 81:Place is clean in a nice "hotelera area", so outside the centre of the town that it is not really good. Swimming pool is really appreciate in the hot season (very clean and quite). The restaurant is decent at very reasonable prices. Secured parking at no extra cost. Considering the cost, probably the best quality/price ratio in my mexican trip
Review 82:the room was big and clean. Breakfast (not included) was good. We only spent one night and it was very convenient since it´s located just as you enter Palenque and it takes two minutes to be back on the road again.
Review 83:The location is ideal to spend a great time. There's everything you may need at a walking distance. Good food, excellent service, we loved the whole experience!
Review 84:Walking distance to town and to bus station.
Review 85:Despite quiet location rather noisy. Walls are paper thin.
Review 86:Nice quiet location in best part of Palenque.
Review 87:Nothing
Review 88:All, the position is 300m from the ADO terminal, where there are also taxi stationed always.
Review 89:staff at the reception desk
Review 90:really top service not by one, but by several employees - a great compliment to the whole team!! they invested plenty of time in helping us :-)
Review 91:Slight cleaning smell in the room.
Review 92:Nice area to stay in, really close to the bus station and restaurants.
Review 93:The beds were hard. The rooms were noisy and the rooms and restaurant had the feeling of a dormitory
Review 94:The location was nice
Review 95:Beautiful room and bath with a comfortable bed
Review 96:Close to ADO bus station & ruins. Friendly staff. Gracias
Review 97:Great location in the hotel zone with near restaurants and supermarket. Good staff attention.
Review 98:Wifi not working everywhere in room Small bathroom
Review 99:Secured parking Nice rooms
Review 100:The hotel was only a very short walk from the ADO bus terminal, which is a great place to pick a colectivo to the ruins.
Review 101:having a pool after a hot day was nice although a bit warm.
Review 102:Wanted payment in advance.woyldnt charge extras to room.we were placed next to dining room. Average restaurant
