Reviews for ACE Accommodation
Review 1:There's only 1 bathroom to 5 rooms, some with more than 2 people staying. It was a bit of a wait to use the toilet or the shower and there was often lots of water on the floor and sink due to a lot of other people using it.
Review 2:The owner was very welcoming and helpful. He even let us borrow his bikes to go for a ride around town. He also told us all the good places to go and we weren't disappointed! Breakfast was basic but pretty good. The room we stayed in had really nice views and was very spacious.
Review 3:Our Host,Peter was so welcoming. The Accommodation has everything required for a comfortable stay. The dining room and lounge and stairs all had wooden floors with a carpet piece added on the stairs. The high ceilings and light fixtures added to the character of the building.Breakfast was plentiful, light and healthy foods.A peaceful environment even when a tune is resonating from the lounge piano.Plenty of shrubbery in the garden to admire and wander through.Got to see sunsets from my windows and stunning views of snow on the Alps. What a wonderful base for day tripping.
Review 4:The house looked very grand from the outside, however the facilities were very sparce. We booked the last room available which had a shared bathroom and toilet - what I didn't realise was that we'd be sharing with four other couples, so my husband waited 1.25hrs to use toilet!! Although breakfast was included it was very basic, toast with budget spreads and cereal. We did not feel welcome to use lounge although host had said it was for guest use, as when we went into it to have a quiet drink, the host came to see what we were doing.
Review 5:Hokitika didn't seem to have much going on, but there was nothing wrong with the accommodation.
Review 6:Very accommodating host, lovely and clean house, convenient location.
Review 7:Breakfast was simple.
Review 8:The room was comfortable. The bathroom was excellent. There was no TV or radio which would have been useful as it was raining and the cricket was on.
Review 9:There is no kitchen or fridge and only one bathroom together with toilet for all the rooms, so the toilet is blocked all the time while people are taking their looong showers.
Review 10:We felt this place was very friendly. The manager gave us a warm welcome and a briefing into what there is to do in the town. Though we had probably the smallest room, it was still spacious with plenty of space to store the backpacks. Everything's clean and the house has a nice old atmosphere.
Review 11:Old and run-down, spotty carpet, dusty shades and lots of dust in room corners. Stuffy smell. Breakfast room smelled so stuffy that we decided to forego the breakfast.
Review 12:It would have been great to have a TV in our room.
Review 13:Peter was very helpful with local knowledge and suggestions. We were left to our own space even though there were others staying in the house. It was great having our own bathroom and the spa bath was AMAZING!
Review 14:Toilet door that squeaked loudly. Use of an oil ca. Would be a good idea. No one likes to advertise to the whole house when they are using the loo at 2:30 a.m.
Review 15:Couldn't stay longer
Review 16:The accomodation was delightful, & comfortable. Peter was most pleasant. Made my daughter & I feel welcome & at home. He also had a good knowledge of the local & surrounding area & was very helpful. Terrific value for money!!
Review 17:This is a beautiful 1904 2-storey home, kept warm with old-style central heating. No problem with additional heating IF required. All the mod-cons but with some of the charm of a bygone era.
Review 18:Very nice and helpful host. Warm and friendly atmosphere in a clean typical NZ-house. Breakfast was great for that price. Would always come back again.
Review 19:Our departure in the morning was a bit delayed as we had to wait for other guests using the bathroom and shower, it would be quite helpful to have a separate toilet. However, we were happy to not worry about small things such as this given how lovely the rest of the house was, and our stay here in general.
Review 20:Everything was very well taken care of, we loved the charm of the place too. The house was very warm which was great on a cold rainy evening, and the room was great with comfortable bed and plenty of space. Bathroom was nice, and excellent breakfast in the morning with lots of options. We would definitely stay here again - thank you!
Review 21:There's only 1 bathroom with toilet in it. The room doesn't smell very nicely. There's no elevator, so it's difficult if you happen to have big suitcases.
Review 22:The house was 120-year-old. Its owner was a very nice man who tried his best to help us with everything.
Review 23:The combined toilet bathroom meant if the other guests took long showers you had to wait. Also typical of a lot of older Victorian houses it smelled of damp and the room I was in had what looked like wood rot on the ceiling.
Review 24:I liked the owner, he was really nice. I liked that the place was quiet yet close to town and I also liked the free wi fi.
Review 25:Only thing we could fault is, being older the stairs were a bit steep for us, and sharing the bathroom. But this is not really a major problem and Peter did offer to take our bags up for us.
Review 26:This place was centrally located. Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice warm and comfortable room and a nice place to break a long journey.
Review 27:It was a bit chilly at night but there was a heater so we stayed warm enough.
Review 28:Breakfast was lovely and the owner's communication before arrival was great.
Review 29:Sharing bathroom facilities. Only one available and some Travellers did not consider others.
Review 30:Home and gardens. Ample and excellent quality of towels quiet location with Mini supermarket across road. Willing to transport to airport.
Review 31:Genial host, beautiful gracious home and gardens, spa bath in our room, spacious room, comfortable and clean. Great value when the inclusive breakfast is taken into account.
Review 32:My son and I were allocated a double bed, which was fine as there was a stuff up with other bookings. But no real criticisms at all.
Review 33:Comfortable, clean, well appointed
Review 34:That we didn't stay for longer
Review 35:We were having a few nights on the west coast, great place to stay for a few nights, close to town but far enough away to sleep. I went fishing and the host was more than happy to put then in his freezer till be left.
Review 36:there was only one bathroom for too many people, so we had to wait several times to use it...
Review 37:We liked the house, the staff, the breakfast, and the free wi-fi
Review 38:A toilet separate to the bathroom would be good ? For the rooms with shared bathroom But.. For the price ? Was fine.
Review 39:Spacious Rooms, Character Sitting out on Balcony enjoying view & sunset Lovely garden Sharing breakfast table with other Travellers Value for money
Review 40:You have to share the bathroom with a lot of people. This gave me a really unconfortable feeling when having a shower. The smell downstairs. Please get a good carpet cleaner and open some windows! Breakfast and the place downstairs could use some TLC ! Make it nice!! Love what you are doing.
Review 41:I really loved the front garden !!
Review 42:One toilet as part of shower facilities not good with a no. of guests. Bedding could be made up to look more appealing. House a little musty in hallway.
Review 43:Host very helpful. Sitting/reading room great.Garden a delight.
Review 44:Far from city center if don't have car is not convenience and difficult to find. No kitchen cannot cook , there is only microwave. 1 bathroom with toilet for all guests

Review 46:No TV in room
Review 47:Bed very comfortable Room was ensure with jacuzzi bath... very nice Plenty of heating so nice and warm Self serve breakfast included in the price.

Review 51:The host Peter always open to help you The house in itself The sleep (comfortable beds and quiet home) The 2nd floor balcony for morning coffee with a view at Mt Cook and sea The breakfast The wifi
Review 52:We were in Hokitika for a big sporting event. Peter was most helpful and put up with all the crazy hours, wet gear and dozens of muddy gumboots of all the people staying and offered his garage to park our mountain bikes. Thanks Peter!
Review 53:It would have been nice to have access to a bible as I have got use to seeing them when staying at hotel/motels b and b. But other than that I could not fault this place.
Review 54:Liked the asthetics, shower pressure, comfy bed and linen, wifi, adequate space for lounging and breakfast, no hurry to check out, no worries of keeping the baby or children quiet. Peter excelled in customer service.
Review 55:There was only one toilet shared between several rooms and it was in the bathroom so if someone was having a shower you had to hold on.
