Reviews for Hotel New Century
Review 1:Need to take the round-lake tour bus about 20 min, not near to the train station.
Review 2:Staffs are helpful, especially old ladies who serve dinner and breakfast, very hospitality. Room in old Japanese style, and able to see the Fuji Mt (part of left side is blocked, but still good) Cost-effective choice.
Review 3:The access to the room was a bit difficult if you are traveling heavy. The access from the lobby has about 8 steps before elevator. The hot water in the basin would be good during winters, sadly none of the basin had hot water.
Review 4:Very Helpful staff and the Station Shuttle is a great saver. Great view from our room of Mt. Fuji and really enjoyed the Tatami Beds (japanese style bed)
Review 5:Hotel inside looked little bit old and required rennovation. Water in the hot spring tab looked not so clean, with some dust and hair inside.
Review 6:There is an awesome view of mount Fuji from hotel's rooms. Breakfast and dinner portions were huge and delicious!
Review 7:there is no walking distance mini market
Review 8:I like the room which we stay, can remember the room type, but it was not the japanese style room. The room has 2 bedrooms (4 single beds) and a living room, the bathroom is spacious, with good toiletries (soap)
Review 9:Bathroom quite small.A little bit hard for wheelchair because of some step before the lift to the room but staff will give you a big hand.Thank you.
Review 10:Great view of Fijisun. All staff are the best in service.Good food.
Review 11:Smelly toilet
Review 12:We went there 9 people. Maximum 4ppl/room but room size are same for 2 - 3 or 4 ppl. They have pick up service at the station, you need to call when arrive. All staff are willing to serve and one of them can speak english. Hotel design isn't modern and new enough but it didn't matter. We chose Japanese-style rooms and we got 3rd floor, which can see Fuji-san through the windows. Wifi was good. Onsen are on 1th and 7th floor, both indoor. Dinner and Breakfast in a common room not private. Bus stop is less than 200 meters far. No convenient stores around. Great view in the morning. We recommend to stay more than 1 night for sight-seeing around. Wish to visit there again.
Review 13:Good place to experience traditional Japanese Ryokan stay with hot spring (no restriction for foreigners with tatoo, as in most of hot sprigs) and traditional Japanese Kaiseki diner. View of Mount Fuji from rooms is amazing
Review 14:1. There's no getting away the hotel's facilities are old, use of old-style keys and other things 2. There are 2 hot springs, one on the ground floor of B-block and the other on the top floor of A-block; while there's nothing wrong with the setup that the male-female use of hotsprings rotate, the ladies got to use the better equipped (and superior view) top-floor bath house at night and men's turn is in the morning...in this regard, the good or bad depends on your gender, really; 3. For the top-floor hotsprings, there're 2 baths and the one on the left is less hot - by itself it isn't bad, but if with a notice of sort it could be a service to those who less used to hotsprings, like us foreign tourists; 4. Food is ok by my standard, alas if you're of higher standard you won't agree - but then again, if food is your primary concern you'd have book a more lavish establishment, right? Remember, you come here mostly for the view.
Review 15:1. Hotel's front-desk staff is capable in English so there's no worries there. 2. The view is excellent as advertised - now, in case you don't see Mt. Fuji on the first day you got there, try the next morning: if the weather report says expecting a fair morning, wait till the morning mist is lifted (around 0900) and you'll be treated with quite a view! 3. Unlike the newer establishment that adopted buffets, they serve meals to customers like the old days, both dinner and breakfast; 4. Good shuttle service to and from the train station; 5. Wifi coverage in rooms is good, alas multi-devices situations might strain the loads.
Review 16:Facilities are a little old especially the private bathrooms. Nonetheless, they are clean and bearable.
Review 17:Friendly staff and awesome food. Great view of mount. Fuji.
Review 18:Encountered a rude bald headed burly staff with no name tag presumably a senior person from the way the others treated him manning the counter. Had to repeatedly ask for bottled water which he refused to give until he yielded when I showed him a sign from the hotel room stating I was entitled to the water. Even then he dropped 1 bottle on the floor on purpose making me pick it up :( Horrible experience which marred the whole stay there. Had the same experience when asking for 2 more pillows from this person. For what I paid for which was more than Hilton Tokyo Bay, I expected better.
Review 19:Direct view to Lake Kawaguchiko
Review 20:No convenience store around, not even a simple restaurant nearby.
Review 21:Excellent service provided by hotel staff especially the receptionists. Good view of Mt Fuji from the room. Walking distance to sightseeing bus stop. Dinner and breakfast quite good, free shuttle service to and from the station.
Review 22:The reception staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable, friendly and courteous. The pickup service and hotel location are very convenient. The view from the room is undeniably worth every penny.
Review 23:Nothing
Review 24:Very very good service. Have shuttle bus to take you from Kawaguchiko station. Location is good, can see clearly Mt.Fuji in your room. Dinner is also good. Recommended
Review 25:The room was very hot even with the heat off. It was easy to fix by opening the window.
Review 26:The views were exceptional when waking up to MT Fuji. The food was great as well.
Review 27:Nothing to complain.
Review 28:Make sure you order the board meal, they were delicious and the chef does take care of the small details of the meal. The room view and the hot spring is amazing! Staffs are very friendly too. =) We'd definitely come back for the next time.
Review 29:smoking in the lobby and the dinning room!!!!
Review 30:the location and staff was great. they spoke English. had convenient parking in front of the hotel. we rented a car a good idea for the area
Review 31:The hotel is run down. Old everything. It certainly needs a refurb. We stayed 3 nights and the meals were very repetitive, having the same 4 choices for dinner each night, and I got the feeling they were the same 4 choices for evermore...Therefore, value for money is waaaay down.
Review 32:Location was great, stunning view out the window of the lake and mt Fuji. Staff were lovely and friendly. Parking is also easy.
Review 33:It is not a dislike but breakfast is japanese style so if you have kids that do not eat fish, rice and small salads in the morning maybe do not get the pachage with breakfast included.
Review 34:Staff was very kind and he room was clean.
Review 35:only 1 night booking no enough ,we need more if we visit again
Review 36:-The woman staff at front very nice service. she very kind for my group.after check-out we leave a baggage at hotel and go to Gotembara outlet we late back to hotel 6pm no bus service, she send a van to station for my group and go back hotel to get baggage even we change other place that night and send to station again . -location good Fuji Mt. view -dinner &breakfast good decorate style we love it
Review 37:- Hair dryer low performance..take long time to dry hair - Difficult to adjust water to be proper temperature for bathing
Review 38:- Comfortable room with Good view of Kawaguchiko lake and Mt.Fuji - Staffs are nice - Tatami smells nice
Review 39:The second day...Fujisan did not show her face all day.
Review 40:Top notch hospitality. Especially the kitchen and wait staff. We felt like we were at our aunties kitchen. The hotel is at the perfect spot.
Review 41:Water pressure for shower is small. Can't really enjoy while taking shower. Other than that everything else is excellent.
Review 42:Staff hospitality was the best ! I felt Welcomed with big arms . Room and view of Mount Fuji was perfect!
Review 43:The bathroom facilities is poor with very limited towels. There is also limited bathroom shower material
Review 44:The rooms given to us is very spacious. The onsen (hot spring) is good. The hotel is overlooking the lake The dinner is great but serve only set breakfast . Provide pick up service!
Review 45:Far too expensive for what you get. If the view of Fuji is clouded you practically feel robbed. Hygiene was mediocre - there was a razor in the sleeve of a robe, the bath had previous guests' hair in them, and the toilet smelled of urine. The whole place looks like it's not been updated since the 80s or 90s. It doesn't feel premium but premium is what you pay for.
Review 46:The view, if not cloudy, is nothing less than magnificent. Staff are friendly but it helps if you speak Japanese. Service is good including the pickup service from the station. Dinner and breakfast are lovely, as is the onsen.
Review 47:Design and facilities are pretty old fashioned and dated.
Review 48:Staffs are very helpful. Although they are not very fluent in English but service mind is fabulous.
Review 49:no hair dryer and water in the room (only boiled water provided), but all things can ask at the reception.
Review 50:The Fujisan Mt. view from room, the staffs, the breakfast and dinner, the bed was very comfy and shuttle bus from and to Kawaguchiko station.
Review 51:The baths were okay, simple but not particularly outstanding
Review 52:The staff were very friendly and even though most staff couldn't speak English well, it was enough to communicate. The meals were excellent and the location was ideal, with a bus stop nearby and the main town center only a 15 min walk away.
Review 53:It's a little expensive. I don't think I could afford if I wanna stay there for two nights
Review 54:Very friendly staffs and helpful. An amazing view from my bed room.
Review 55:Time to change the carpet along the corridor in Tower A second floor.
Review 56:Staffs very friendly. The food was quite good. Excellent view of Mount Fuji from room.
Review 57:Rather ugly tower/condo building. A/C blew directly over sleeping space. Tatami mats were a bit ragged from luggage/chairs. Not a true ryokan experience, but still a nice vacation option.
Review 58:Great view of lake & Mt. Fuji. Japanese style room was spacious with chairs on the balcony. Elaborate chair-seated dinner meal was great - geared to Western tastes with good sashimi & shabu-shabu plus table prepared rice - nothing too exotic or with odd taste/textures. Very accommodating staff, though limited English speaking. Provided train station pick up & drop off. Lake Kawaguchiko is great area to relax/tour around - lots of touristic options. Good on-site onsen.
Review 59:May improve prevent cigarette smell (any time).
Review 60:A fine traditional Japanese-style inn. As room are not so many, so the fewer guests stay, but can enjoy a more pleasant travel mood.
Review 61:The hotel needs some renovation. We found the price high for what we got.
Review 62:Very nice staff, good onsen. We didn't see the Fuji mount as it was cloudy but I am sure that the view is great from the rooms! Nice breakfast
Review 63:A traditional Japanese hotel with indoor onsen and very nice and tidy room. Very friendly staff served us with authentic Japanese dinner and breakfast!
Review 64:View is decent but overall not convenient for those without a car. Suggest you find a place near the sightseeing bus stops (red or green lines) or right in the heart of town. Amenities are poor and rooms are tiny given the rates
Review 65:Nothing.
Review 66:-very old, you cannot get rid of the smells -far from anywhere (I asked staff for a 7-11 kind of store for some mike, he said the nearest is 2km away) -both breakfast and dinner are terrible
Review 67:nothing
Review 68:no english speaking staff after 6pm
Review 69:i really like the sweet wine that they provide at dinner(with dinner package), too bad they dont sell it as they told it was their hotel specialty
Review 70:stayed in a japanese type room with tatami mat looked jaded towels are worn out toilets provided very small
Review 71:location with views of mount Fuji and the lake Quite and peaceful
Review 72:Way too overpriced. I understand it was obon and everything but still the room was not so big, the bathroom was stinky, the breakfast had a reservation system that I didn't know of. 47500¥ for one night was crazy. Facilities were just average. Didn't have a very pleasant experience with the staff too.
Review 73:The room gave me a pretty decent view of Mt. Fuji. Location was decent and also very nice view of kawaguchiko lake. The pickup service of hotel was nice.
Review 74:The third night was more expensive than the first two nights, in the middle of the week. When we came back to the hotel at 4 pm on our last day, the room was still not made. After asking at the desk, a very unfriendly lady came to our room with a cleaning person. It seemed to bother her a lot to have to clean the room. I think in an already only average hotel for 260 CHF per night you can at least expect the room to me made as promised.
Review 75:The view, altough you can enjoy it from everywhere during the day when you are outside. So I would not recommend to take a hotel on this side of the lake just for the view.
Review 76:Beautiful view of kawaguchi Lake and Mt. Fuji. We stayed at Japanese style room and wore the Yukata provided by hotel. It's an amazing experience. The Japanese dinner and breakfast was delicious. The staff are helpful and they pick us up and drove us back to the station when we went home. Surely we will comeback to this hotel
Review 77:Public baths were not clean - some black mould in lava bath, toilet in room smelt of urine, tatami room had slightly musty smell. Very small room for the price, maybe the 'Fujisan' view. Japanese breakfast was worst quality have had in many years of visiting Japan!
Review 78:- There is no convenient store around hotel. If you need to buy something you should buy before go to Hotel.
Review 79:- Mostly, their rooms will be Mt.Fuji & Lake Kawaguchi view. - Pick-up service from Kawaguchi Station to Hotel available. - Free WiFi all area - There are 2 Onsen rooms,Hot Spring Bath, and they will switch men and female every half day. So you can enjoy boyh styles.
Review 80:The toilet cubicle was so small the door had to be left open when in use. The shower head was also slightly busted spraying water in crazy directions
Review 81:We were beautifully located along the strip facing Mt. Fuji! The staff were absolutely lovely and very good with providing information, a shuttle bus was provided to take us to the train station at our convenience after hours
Review 82:alternate bathing locations 1st floor bath is cleaner than 7th floor bath, but without view of lake kawaguchiko and mount Fuji
Review 83:kaiseki dinner and breakfast location in front of lake kawaguchi friendly stuff despite some can't speak english properly
Review 84:Hotel is quite old. Location is far from bus station. Hotel bus to kawachujiko station was set only 3 rounds. Otherwise you had to take public bus by yourself.
Review 85:Sadly we could not see Mt. Fuji due to weather conditions. So always consider that when booking. However the gotel ia wrll.placed for a great view when weather permits.
Review 86:Enjoyed the Japanese set breakfast.
Review 87:not the hotel's fault but it was a cloudy day and so we didnt see mt. fuji at all.
Review 88:location was great and the staff very accommodating and friendly, particularly the hotel's driver. we stayed in the japanese room and it was very spacious for 2 persons
Review 89:Despite the extra fee we had to pay for my preschool child to share a bed with my other young child, we were not provided with a towel or toiletries for him! The children's Yukatas (casual kimonos) were removed after the first night?!?! Lack of restaurants close by.
Review 90:Great view of Fuji. Spacious Japanese style room. Little snacks provided with green tea each day. Onsen experience onsite (two onsens separated by gender). Yukatas provided.
Review 91:The hotel is not new, but it is very clean. The staff is very friendly. It's very convenient to have the pick-up service from Kawaguchiko station. We enjoyed the fantastic view (Mount Fuji is really beautiful), large and nice public bath, good dinner and breakfast.
Review 92:Only shortcoming is that quadruple rooms are too small for four and the view is not as good as the rest of the rooms.
Review 93:Great location. Super helpful and friendly staff. Front office staff speak very fluent English and could offer great suggestions for sightseeing.
Review 94:1) The toilet in our room had a sewage smell. 2) No room service.
Review 95:1) The staffs are the best. 2) Room with great view. 3) good location. 4) Strong wifi signal.
Review 96:no hair dryer in the room.
Review 97:the staff is helpful and the location is near the river. the staff help us get to the station. the view is very good and nice.
Review 98:Staffs of the reservation department and front desk have poor communication problem. Only few staffs have shown their politeness and helpful attitude.
Review 99:Cleanliness and location
Review 100:Location not within walking range with the station.
Review 101:Beautiful view of Kawaguchi Lake and Fujisan. Extremely helpful staffs including the kitchen staffs. Cozy. Tasty dinner.
Review 102:Facilities are very old and in need of upgrade - onsens, rooms, bathrooms. Style of room given us was not as booked. Advertising on Booking.com does not reflect reality.
Review 103:As above
Review 104:the elevator is quite dangerous it closes very quickly and one person needs to run in and keeps pressing the open button till the rest come in.
Review 105:perfect view, nice staffs and quite good food
Review 106:Great spot with a prime view of Mt Fuji. The traditional beds were comfortable for me - although may not be for everyone. Some aspects of the hotel were dated and it was pretty pricey in April. We had a fairly basic 4 person room but it had a great view and suited us
Review 107:The diner period time which is very early for French people (6 pm to 7.30 pm)
Review 108:The location and the view on the lake and the Mount Fuji. The decoration of the room (Japanese style). The careness / kindness of the employees even if they do not speak english. The food.
Review 109:The size of bathroom (attached) is too small even compared to Japan standard, might be smaller than some in Tokyo.
Review 110:The dinner set, onsen facilities and staff
Review 111:Very small toilet, only 1 socket for four of us to use, and two of us suffered from mosquito bites during sleep because the interior is a bit stuffy and the air-con is too weak.
Review 112:Balcony with view of Mt Fuji and Kawaguchiko.
Review 113:At the onsen, somebody bathed in a public hot spring water without taking a shower or cleaning themselves well before. But the common rule in every onsen is you have to taking a shower before bath yourself in a public hot spring water
Review 114:Good service, delicious dinner and breakfast, Nice onsen and clean japanese style room with Mt. Fuji view.
Review 115:You need to carry suitcases for 3-4 steps before get to an elevator. It's ok if you travel with 1-2 suitcases. It's not very convenient if you get to stay at another building which is connected with a main building on the 2nd floor because you need to get your stuffs out of the main's building elevator, walk to another building to use the elevator to go up to your room. I had no problem with that because I had only 1 suitcase. But it could be a little tough for those who have many stuffs.
Review 116:Good dinner and Breakfast. Welcome staff and staff at a dining room (for both dinner and breakfast) are polite and very friendly.
Review 117:Hotel fixtures quite worn. Our room was very close to a kitchen and dinning room which were quite noisy after service. We didn't feel that this hotel was value for money.
Review 118:Friendly staff and great location. Brilliant view from the room.
Review 119:The onsen is a little bit old include is decorate of the hotel need some renovation.
Review 120:The staff are very good take care and can speak english well. The view of Fuji from the room is fantastic. The dinner and breakfast are delicious. The onsen are cute and can see the Fuji.
Review 121:Nothing to make us disappoint.
Review 122:I got a very wonderful experience here. The receptionists are very helpful to us to adivice our one day trip, check the weather as well. Dinner in room & private breakfast are very nice, real Janpanese style. Having a very kind aunt to take care us.
Review 123:a bit far from station if u come to this town after 20:00 only taxi is available
Review 124:the staff so helpful and friendly the view of Fujisan from your room
Review 125:The heater was a bit too hot with lowest adjustable level. We had to switch on/off time by time that was quite uncomfortable.
Review 126:Everything particularly the nice stuffs and the fantastic meals.
Review 127:Everything good. Very helpful and polite staff. Room with very nice Fuji mount view and clean. The hotel with free transport service to send you in and out.
Review 128:I stayed 2 nights but the second nights, hotel staff forget to refill the fresh water in room.
Review 129:Very good service mind of every staff. Delicious dinner and breakfast.
Review 130:Breakfast and dinner were gorgeous. The Fuji with lake view from our window was really fantastic. The staffs were helpful. The hotel arranged the bus to pick up from and to train station. Also, onsen on upper floor has Fuji view.
Review 131:We had breakfast and dinner with the room, food spread was really good but it was not to our taste. This is not the hotel's fault, it just as to do with our taste preference.
Review 132:We booked a tatami room but worried that the bedding would not be as comfortable. However, the bedding provided was one of the most comfortable i ever slept on, even better than a five-star hotel beds!! The staff here are also really cheerful, polite and helpful. We felt really welcomed at the hotel!
Review 133:Fantastic view of Fuji and Lake Kawaguchiko from room. Onsen (with Fuji view in 7th floor). Hotel shuttle from/to station. Comfort futon (Japanese style bed).
Review 134:Value for your money. Worth every cent. Excellent and gracious staff. Kudos for the top rate service. The kaiseki ryori dinner and breakfast were a feast on the senses. The room was spacious. The onsen was very relaxing.
Review 135:The souvenir shop wasn't open as their office hour showed. There's no other convenience store near by so you can only buy from vending machine.
Review 136:Great service.
Review 137:At some point an odor of cigarette appeared in the room for a couple of hours.
Review 138:The view on Mount Fuji was incredible. Very pleasant staff. Loves the onsen.
