Reviews for Hotel Protea
Review 1:The restaurant was great and inexpensive; my room was comfortable and the fireplace lovely! The staff had even set it up so all I had to do was light a match to get a nice fire going. Everything was clean and the overall feeling very cozy. The staff was very nice and the breakfast tasty.
Review 2:I'vs stayed in 2 other top hotels in this town and Protea is the best! The staff is friendly and helpful, and the food in the restaurant is the best in the whole town! After dinner there the first night I could hardly wait the next day to get back for dinner!
Review 3:Smel of the room. No lif for the guest with heavy suitcase is quite hard. No kettle, no refrigerator in the room.
Review 4:Some of the staffs were very friendly and speak good English. Breakfast was nice.
Review 5:This is a great hotel, so cozy and quaint. The rooms are simple, yet plenty big. The breakfast is just enough to get you started. The perogies here are delicious. I wouldn't stay anywhere else while on my Polish pottery shopping trips. The staff is super courteous.
Review 6:The area around the hotel had an unpleasant odor, which we did not smell within the hotel. Although we were there at the time of their annual festival, thought their price might have been a bit better.
Review 7:I loved the staff! We were greeted in a friendly and welcoming, yet very professional manner, got all our questions well answered, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location was ideal for pottery shopping.
Review 8:It was hot weather during the visit and there isn't any air conditioning. There was a fan though so that helped.
Review 9:Clean, friendly staff, nice atmosphere, comfy.
Review 10:wifi was very slow and not working most of the time
Review 11:Comfort of room, location was convenient; good parking, friendly staff, okay breakfast; great value for price of room
Review 12:The Bad: the wifi in the apartment didn't really work, as I was at the far end of the first floor, so the signal was very weak and kept dropping altogether; not good for the business traveller. Another minor issue was that there was no milk in the room (even just some UHT would have been welcome). There's also no english speaking TV channel, only polish and german. There's no TV in the sitting room either - didn't really matter to me as there were no english channels, but I found this very strange (the TV was in the bedroom). The hotel is also not central, but is only about a 20 minute walk from the main square.
Review 13:Booked the apartment to give myself a bit more space for my 2 night business stay. Apartment was well finished, and provided most things you'd expect. The hotel was in a quiet location, no issues with night time noise. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Free bottle of home produced wine presented to me on arrival, which was a nice way to welcome me to the hotel. Never ate dinner in the restaurant, but the breakfast was decent, cereal, fresh cooked eggs to order and toast, as well as the usual continental breads, meats etc. Bathroom was very good and spacious.
Review 14:I would have liked fluffier or more pillows, but that would not keep mefrom going back.
Review 15:The staff were very nice and helpful. The told us about the location andwhat sight we could see other than just pottery shopping. Also, thehotel is loaded with hanging wreaths made by the owners that are veryreasonable.
Review 16:The receptionist was not very friendly when we checked in - but that could have been a language barrier. The room was smaller than we expected especially with a king bed. The walls were not well insulated and we could hear our neighbors (especially when the bed broke and they tried to put it back together). The breakfast on Sunday was not the freshest as the rolls were a couple of days old.
Review 17:The hotel was very clean and well maintained. The breakfast had a good assortment with hot eggs being an option. The evening dinner menu was extensive and we enjoyed the meal we had there. They had some of the local pottery for sale for any last minute gifts.
Review 18:The service is always great here! The rooms are not luxurious, but they are comfortable and a great value. Good beds, linens, and shower. The restaurant is pretty good for dinner or lunch. Breakfast is excellent.
Review 19:The wifi did not work in our room.
Review 20:The hotel was walking distance to all the pottery shops and factories. The hotel restaurant was great! Really good traditional Polish food.
Review 21:Our only complaints are 1) the matress on the double bed was very thin and uncomfortable. 2) the wifi reception was very poor in our room, had to go into hallway or Lobby to get good reception. These complaints aside, we have already booked the same room again for later this year.
Review 22:We loved the hotel and location. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Gated parking with security cameras was a big plus.
Review 23:if you suffer from allergies it may be hard with all the dried flowers they sell there and decorate with
Review 24:location to pottery shopping friendly, helpful, caring staff breakfast buffet included--scrambled eggs and espresso coffee by request Rustic character/decor Cleanliness--the bathroom shined Camera/gated parking w/24 hr. desk service
Review 25:Dried flowers everywhere
Review 26:Location was perfect. Food very good for breakfast. Staff was awesome. The only thing I can complain about is they had dried flowers hanging everywhere that were dusty and messed with my allergies. everything else was perfect and we will be go back to this hotel again
Review 27:Nothing!!
Review 28:The staff were ALL so friendly, very attentive, went out of their way to accommodate us, and spoke English. The restaurant was open all the time and had GREAT food, both breakfast & dinner. Late check in was no problem. Room was huge AND very very clean! Parking & location-excellent!
Review 29:The service t this hotel was amazing. All their staff spoke English very well wich was a huge help for us. The price and accommodations can't be beat! Our room was very spacious and spotless. The service at restaurant was quick and delicous, very affordable! They had a lil shop for souvenirs and a private access parking. You can actually WALK to the Main Street of Polish pottery shops from this hotel, that's how great the location is.
Review 30:They used some strong detergent to wash their sheets, so if you are sensitive to that kind of thing, you might want to look elsewhere. Wi-fi did not work that well in my room- only worked when I was sitting right next to the door, but worked great in the common spaces and restaurant.
Review 31:If you are in Boleslawiec to shop, this is a great location, you can walk from the hotel to some of the shops. It is in a nice quiet location and it was convenient to walk my dog. Breakfast was also nice, they made fresh scrambled eggs and good pastries.
Review 32:The double bed sagged in the middle and was not very comfortable. Every time I have stayed here the majority of guests are English speaking, however there is no "English speaking" TV channels available for viewing. It is a plus if we are able to listen to CNN news and/or weather while traveling.
Review 33:This was my fourth time to stay at this hotel. We stayed in a two room apartment with fireplace, fridge and sitting area. The hotel reception (this time it was a young man) went our of his way to make our stay comfortable. There is not elevator in the hotel so he carried my luggage to our room (3rd floor). Later in the evening he brought my husband and I each a bottle of wine (Hotel Protea label) and cookies. If you ask, the hotel will arrange for a cab to take you around to pottery shops and/or manufacturers located elsewhere. The restaurant serves good food at reasonable prices.
Review 34:I've stayed here a few times. The location is perfect, close to all of the pottery stores. The hotel is clean, comfortable and affordable. The free breakfast in the morning is hearty and delicious. The staff are warm and welcoming after a long drive. There are other hotels in the area, I have stayed at them, I keep coming back to The Protea, it feels like my home away from home.
Review 35:This is my second time staying at the Protea hotel. The room was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was fantastic! I would highly recommend the Protea to anyone going to Boleslawiec for Polish pottery shopping. It is in a fantastic central location.
Review 36:Tiny room. Walls are paper thin. Hard to control the water temperature in the shower
Review 37:Good location Restaurant is good. Friendly service. Controlled parking.
Review 38:The WiFi only worked in half of our room.
Review 39:My husband and I agree; we cannot say enough good comments about this hotel. The location is great, rooms are beautiful (we stayed in room #1), restaurant is out of this world, and the list goes on. Kamil, the front desk person helped us above and beyond our expectations. He was kind, courteous, and all while the hotel was very busy. He answered questions and translated to the taxi driver for us. He even offered to translate while we were driving around if needed, and when we called him he did! Ola, the waitress, was also very patient while we asked many questions about the cuisine (I am a self-proclaimed foodie). She remembered us, was quick to respond, and very kind. In fact all the staff members were very kind. We have decided our next trip will also include time in Boleslawiec, and there is no doubt we will stay at this hotel!!
Review 40:I have dinner at the restaurant in the hotel. it is very good. but there in only restaurant near here. so if you need some choise, you have to go to main square, 15 min on foot.
Review 41:good location for polish pottery, but a little far from main station, and main square. nice staffs are very kind, friendly, helpful. room is so clean and cosy. very comfortable.wifi is no problem.
Review 42:Have to ask the front desk to open the gate for the parking lot, but having a secure lot nice.
Review 43:The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel offers local craft and pottery items for sale. Breakfast room was very comfortable; has the feel of a hunting lodge. 15 min walk to shopping and grocery store.
Review 44:The fan in teh bathroom was very loud and activated via a motion sensor so I couldnt' turn it off when I really really wanted to. the walls are thin so I could hear every word my neighbors said VERY clearly.
Review 45:Location - close to Vena and the best factory store. Food - restaurant was delicious for dinner and breakfast. The hotel sells pottery and polish items that we didnt' see anywhere else.
Review 46:Interesting place - lots of nice decorative touches - liked having the gift shop to pick up some small items. Staff was excellent. Nice neighborhood as well as close to everything.
Review 47:Walls thin. A little loud.
Review 48:Friendly and helpful staff. Nice restaurant
Review 49:The location was wonderful; the staff was very friendly and helpful; I would stay here again.
Review 50:bedroom decorations
Review 51:fireplace, dinner
Review 52:Horrible pillows and thin walls have always been an issue.
Review 53:The breakfast buffet was absolutely amazing! The staff was extremely kind and helpful.
Review 54:The gentleman at reception was very helpful. I love the extra lobby so you can gather there with friends.
Review 55:The staff was wonderfully helpful. The restaurant food was delicious. We would certainly stay there again!
Review 56:Nothing
Review 57:Very clean and well equipped
Review 58:Location to several pottery stores was wonderful-within walking distance to several. Safe neighborhood. Friendly staff.
Review 59:Maybe a few TV channels for foreigners (D,F,GB,I)
Review 60:The staff, the Restaurantstyle and the polisch food
Review 61:No refregerater and coffeepot in the room.
Review 62:breakfast very good.kind staff. quite and safe location.

Review 71:Easy to find, secured parking lot and friendly staff
Review 72:Nothing.
Review 73:Helpful staff, quiet but convenient location, enclosed secure parking, traditional Polish restaurant and menu.
Review 74:Nice wooden interior- with atmosphere, excellent staff, great breakfest
Review 75:Amazing breakfast! Would stay there again for that.
Review 76:Secure parking, close to pottery stores/centrally located. Very friendly staff!
Review 77:The price for stay is similar to the hotel in major cities, but the price for food is nice.
Review 78:Proximity to the ceramic factory outlets, the taste and price of dinner and breakfast, supportive stafff
Review 79:The friendly staff, the ease of check-in and check out, the food in the restaurant. It was my birthday and the hotel gave me flowers and a bottle of wine!
Review 80:The bed was not overly comfortable. The walls were VERY thin as I could hear my neighbor's TV and music. Parking could be tight if you got in late, but if your car fit, they did have a gate which protected your car.
Review 81:Hotel staff were excellent. Always willing to call cabs, remember your drinks (espresso in the morning, beer, etc in evening). Hotel room (single) was perfect place to stay for one person and there was plenty of room for a collection of Polish Pottery! The hotel also had a pretty great little gift shop which was scattered around most of the ground level of hotel. Prices were very reasonable.
Review 82:You can hear everything in the hallways and adjoining rooms; the men in the room next door to us were very loud and up very late which made sleeping a challenge.
Review 83:Great location, good restaurant, and well-appointed and clean rooms.
Review 84:Like the secure parking behind gates and they have camera surveillance. Also, the rooms were very clean. Restaurant had really good dinner and prices were good as well. Hotel Protea is located right in the middle of all the polish pottery stores/warehouse. Extremely convenient location.
Review 85:The hotel, room and restaurant were very warm and cosy. This hotel is very good location for pottery shopping. We could buy a few in the hotel as well. The break fast was plenty.
Review 86:I have stayed here many times, it is a great location if you are shopping for pottery. The food in the restaurant is very good. I love this hotel and will continue to stay here if need be:)
Review 87:I am short and the mirror and spa shower were very high...such a thing!
Review 88:Returned to Hotel Protea and was not disappointed. Lovely place, clean room, great staff. It's like staying at my grandma's house.
Review 89:I got the single bed which was not a good choice for me, but that is not the hotel's fault. And the decor is very 80s, but that is also OK because it is clean and well maintained.
Review 90:It was conveniently located close to pottery, very clean, good service, parking spots, and working wifi.
Review 91:It was so nice of decoration in the hotel. Many kinds of potteries of ceramic...it is so beautiful. We got a three bedroom but two separated toilets and bathroom. Very quiet location even there are ceramic shopping malls nearby.
Review 92:The bed was horrible. They really need new pillows for they left myhusband and I with a back and neck ache.
Review 93:The staff was really really great! They were very attentive and helpful. There was ample, well litted parking. The shower was very comforting. The breakfast was satisfying but the dinner was not to our liking.
Review 94:Woke up to NO ELECTRICITY. Room was size of closet. Other travelers paying same, same room, received wine & cookies to their room. Breakfast was in the dark, served on a pool table, they had cleaned out the fridge.
Review 95:The location was good. Secured parking.
Review 96:Nothing!
Review 97:The hotel was easy to find, and all of the staff personnel were verypleasant. I had no problems communicating with them in English, even viaphone. The rooms were simple but had everything we needed. The includedbreakfast was a basic European set. The location of the hotel was withineasy driving distance of many pottery shops. Secured parking next to thehotel was nice. Really appreciated that a late check-in was no big deal. The in-house shopping was actually pretty good.
Review 98:Very helpful staff. Comfortable bed and good shower. The restaurant is very good and an extensive breakfast buffet was included in the price. Hotel is within walking distance to several pottery shops.
Review 99:Poor lighting in our room, mirror was way too high in the bath forsomeone under 5 ft. These are really knit-picky things - nothing reallyto complain about.
Review 100:Location was excellent, great gift shop, good restaurant on premises, rustic feel throughout, attentive staff, secure on-site parking, nicetowels and linens, like staying at my Grandma's house in herupstairs bedroom!
Review 101:NO AIR CONDITIONING! Our room was stifling hot, and we couldn't open the windows because of mosquitoes. The mattresses and pillows were thin and not comfortable. The hotel decorates with and sells many dried flower arrangements, so if you are allergic to such, take it into consideration.
Review 102:The location was very good, easy to find and close to pottery shopping. Private, secure parking. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Included breakfast was OK. The hotel was very clean.
Review 103:Breakfast is poor, coffee served in big cup with more water than coffee. Not pleasant smell in hotel due to decoration.
Review 104:Parking is close and closed Staff is good and helpfull.
Review 105:Because of the aromatherapy of the hotel, our room smelled a bit of oldwood polish, but so what! We just opened the window!
Review 106:We loved our stay at the Protea! Yes, the look is a bit dated inside, but certainly comfortable and, we thought, charmingly rustic. Therestaurant was fabulous! Don't listen to the nay-sayers about thisplace. It was easy to find and we can't wait to go back!
Review 107:My only complaint about the hotel was the bathroom was really small. Also there is no air conditioning so keep that in mind if you are goingin the summer months. There was a fan in the room.
Review 108:The hotel was in a great location for pottery shopping. Less than a mileaway is one of the main streets for pottery shops. The hotel had a niceresturant for breakfast and dinner. The food for both were good. I wouldrecommend staying here. If you can't get a room here another Bed andBreakfast not far from this area is the BlueBeet Root. Both places areAmerican friendly. If you pottery shopping all of the shops take usdollars and Euro. Most of the take credit card as well, but they giveyou an additional discount if you are paying cash.
Review 109:great staff, they assisted us in every way they could. I loved the ease of having a restaurant in the hotel. We ate several good meals there, and loved the free breakfast there.
Review 110:All rooms are different but our bed was a bit small and awkwardly situated.
Review 111:Staff was superb and very friendly. Secure parking and pet friendly. Restaurant was very nice and excellent value.
Review 112:The accommodations at Protea and the restaurant are great for a shopping trip. I've always felt welcome there and safe. It's nothing fancy but always clean.
Review 113:The food in the restaurant was ok. Nothing special. The breakfast was not very good.
Review 114:It was very close to all the pottery stores. It had fenced in parking so I knew the car would be safe. The rooms were out dated but good for what we needed. The restaurant was very cheap.
Review 115:The furniture and wall hangings are a bit dated and tired.
Review 116:We were greeted throughout our weekend stay by friendly, helpful hotelpersonell. The facility is clean, cozy and welcoming and the breakfastwas also quite nice - especially the fire stoked special for us on thechilly mornings. We enjoyed this hotel!! And the location was also greatfor shopping for the beautiful Polish Pottery.
Review 117:The staff was very friendly, the restaurant was both affordable and full of wonderful food, the shop within the hotel offered a large variety of items at good prices, and the parking was safe and easy.
Review 118:In our most recent visit the toilet broke and they couldn't get itfixed until the next day. They did give us 10% off our room to try andmake it better.
Review 119:We like Protea because the location is great and it's an all aroundgood hotel. I like Protea so mch I have stayed there 3 times.
Review 120:No body soap in the bathroom.
Review 121:Nice and neat facilities with supplementary annex for a price of a tripple room. Good access to pottery shops. The food at the restaurant was also inexpensive and delicious.
