Reviews for African House Resort

Review 1:We thought the food could have been much quicker and better.

Review 2:After a dusty safari, this secret courtyard was lush and refreshing. Great rooms with air conditioning. Amazing interior design and Nice breezes. Very Close to Milindi and the market etc.

Review 3:Extremely charming place with beautifull high quality african antique furniture and decoration. Perfect swimming pool great breakfast and service. One of the most tastefull place I ever stayed.

Review 4:There are many interesting & lovely African artifacts. They however seemed to be in excess especially in lounge areas - over decoration.

Review 5:We liked the quietness, the serenity and the nearness to other interesting places of visit. The staff were courteous and polite. Hi-5 especially to Mombasa (my guy) & the receptionist. We loved the privacy & cleanliness too. We'd love to be back some day.

Review 6:The room was spacious, well laid out and full of unique and interesting character. It's a little way from the beach but it's also lovely and quiet at night and a very restful place.

Review 7:I loved the place! So relaxing, beautiful, amazing staff and service, near the beach (only 10 minutes by walking). This is the place you have been dreaming of.

Review 8:This place is amazing, the breakfast was very good. Staff and mamngement very friendly, we stayed for 5 nights and enjoyed the atomosphere very much. Thanks you to all the staff who make this place wonderfull. Hope to return on our next trip to Kenya. Thanks

Review 9:Nothing negative to report on.

Review 10:A wonderful tranquil and extraordinarily charming small resort. Very spacious and comfortable, beautifully decorated room. Couldn't have asked for a better place to chill out for a week!

Review 11:Hhhah..,a small snake fell from the tree near the swimming pool n that really scared me

Review 12:The whole comfort.great cooking.friendly staff.good environment.

Review 13:The TV has only three channels (we did expect Satellite at this price) and the wi-fi doesn't reach to the rooms though you can sit in the enormous reception area on one of the many Arabic sofas and surf there. The breakfast was surprisingly limited - only eggs are cooked and only one fruit juice, no yoghurt or cereals (Owner please note: this is easy to fix!) and food is not as good quality as it should be for this quality of hotel, though it is reasonable value.

Review 14:This hotel has a lovely pool as you can see from their website and nice rooms with air conditioning that is much needed. The ambiance in the evening is superb. Although tucked away this gives it security and it's very quiet at night. It is, as its name suggests, kitted out in traditional colonial/african style. There are lots of seats, cushions and places to lounge. The staff are excellent and no request is too much trouble for them. The restaurant is OK, which is fortunate as the place is off the beaten track (the chicken and chips is superb) but some dishes such as the steak is disappointing, though the Italian selections are good (the owners are, I believe, Italian). It is near some nice beaches though it is a long hot walk or a short tuk-tuk ride to them. Town is close enough, a cheap 100 Ksh ride to many restaurants, a Casino, Nakumatt (Asda style supermarket), banks and museums and a lovely ethnic "tourist market" where you'll get a fair price and not too much hassle from the traders at any time of the year. We recommend you eat out at least once at the following: "I love pizza" and "the old man and the sea" and the Osteria, all on the sea front and near each other (with clean kitchens). Latter has a really good live chanteuse most nights. All are excellent value and have delicious menus.

Review 15:their food takes up to 3 hours to make, the restaurant service also takes time, the bar is limited with drinks. Wifi is only available downstairs. The portions of food were little. They should have more options for the tv channel

Review 16:The bed and the pool were great

Review 17:A lovely secluded boutique hotel perfect for a quiet vacation. . . the staff was amazing as was the room and the pool! Would do it again in an instant!

Review 18:Need to improve on free WiFi coverage and TV service. Only one Italian channel, Nat Geo and one local channel was a bit boring.

Review 19:Friendly and polite staff, headed by one Mr. Mombasa (thats his real name) who went out of his way to make sure our stay was comfortable.

Review 20:The breakfast is very sober and certainly not particularly. You wouldexpect more of an Italian owner.

Review 21:A great deal of attention to the authentic African décor with Indian andItalian influences. That makes this hotel truly unique. By the spaciouslayout of the hotel you have the idea that you're the only guest, even if the hotel is fully booked. The approach of the staff is personaland attentive.

Review 22:Very beautyfull ambiance in a rich swahili style. Very friendly service. Clean and artistic chosen. I got a lovely time with my love for life. Pinky thanks. I LOVE YOU

Review 23:Africa House is totally unique and slightly eccentric - very sumptuous furnishings with oversized beds and sofas everywhere, all in the traditional African style. It is situated slightly away from the beach so the prices are extremely competitive - we stayed in five different places along the coast and although the smallest, this was by far the best! The staff were attentive and happy to prepare the food we liked - along with the other guests it felt like being part of a family in a homely environment. All aspects of the property were extremely well maintained and the cleanliness was excellent. A great place for a retreat or just an oasis of calm!

Review 24:The facilities are very beautiful and I feel it is more than five star hotels. This time I had seafood dinner with my friends and the dishes are great! I will choose this place whenever I visit Malindi!

Review 25:The food was good but slightly expensive.

Review 26:The ambience and decor was great. The service by the staff especially Mombasa was amazing. They made us feel very welcome and comfortable. The hotel is unique & I just loved everything about it. I wanted to stay on forever:-)

Review 27:Very limited wifi Very few channels available on dstv Many dishes on menu not available - including fish which is disappointing at the coast! No light snacks on menu. Only dessert is icecream or fruit Food overpriced Cappacino not available as machine was broken Poor selection of hot drinks If you want a drink in between meals you have to go looking for the one and only waiter

Review 28:Great decor and furnishings. Nice pool Comfortable chairs at the pool Tropical lush ambiance

Review 29:Staff were very helpful and attentive. Special mention: Mombasa and Dorcas. My kids loved the swimming pool.

Review 30:Nothing! It was truly a great experience

Review 31:Beautiful, clean and well equipped. The entire staff is very friendly and the breakfast ourstanding

Review 32:Breakfast is okay but could be better.

Review 59:everything.

Review 60:far from beach breakfast poor

Review 61:comfort clean well designed

Review 62:Relaxed home away from home. Amazing serene quiet location and warm staff and great meals

Review 63:Nothing

Review 64:Everything perfect

Review 65:Excellent quality of service great facilities and idyllic setting

Review 66:The food was good but very overprized. WLAN and DSTV did not work, although it should have been part of the package.

Review 67:The guesthouse is nicely located, close to the beach. Mombasa the head waiter is running the whole place perfectly, while the owner dominates through her absence.

Review 68:- high prices of food comparing to other places - monotonous breakfast

Review 69:- pool - tropical garden - peaceful environment - huge room with bed - staff

Review 70:I guess the breakfast time. You kind of wait for long because the waiterhas to walk back and forth to get stuff. I suggest they get the chef inthe dining area to make eggs and stuff that would be nice , and lesswaiting time. But still love the place.

Review 71:It's a germ on its own. I love the decoration the rooms . Itslike going home to a long a waited pampering house. Perfect and 5star for me .

Review 72:Need to improve on the quality of food served. More variety of African delicacy.

Review 73:Security and the interior design is excellent. Staff are outgoing and do friendly.

Review 74:I would appreciate if they can arrange for transport(car hire) from there planning and have editorial(Kenyan) delivered daily if possible

Review 75:The place is true African as you find inner peace, its fulfilling and quite, for people in love I would say a thousand times go to the place and enjoy life to its peak simply nice environment to relax the swimming pool is great take your drink without the bustle of noise everything there makes you relaxed the staff are kind why do you have to look far and Malindi is the place to be as you enjoy the breeze and the town life just 10 min drive with the beach not far Africa House resort is the place to beat.

Review 76:- Location is a bit off the main road but taking a tuk-tuk is easy enough (10 mins to town and a few mins to the beach)

Review 77:- Flexible management (had to leave a day earlier and the manager was able to accommodate) - Clean accommodations and surrounding area - Awesome decor - Friendly and helpful staff

Review 78:Food - expensive can eat out at half the price. Menu needs to be reviewed - and yes I understand area is predominately seafood and Italian cuisine.

Review 79:made to feel perfectly at home, African house has a tranquil atmosphere. Staff were truly amazing. Catered for my 2 1 /2 year old son. A vary safe haven. TUK TUK's ordered for you - safe drivers

Review 80:The entire staff goes out of their way to make your stay comfortable and informative of the area by an owner (Italian) who really loves Africa. It was just what we needed: calm, restful, delicious food, sumptuous surroundings and very courteous staff.

Review 81:Internet could also be available at the rooms

Review 82:Interior design and the whole feel of the hotel is very luxurious Very large rooms Very large and comfortable beds Large bathroom and walk in wardrobe Good food and coctails, all prepared a'la carte (including breakfast, which has fresh juices, pancakes, eggs, toast, etc) Very friendly staff Friendly dogs and a cat at premises for animal lovers Free parking

Review 83:On landing at the Resort, what met our eyes was out of ourimaginations! We didn't imagine there existed so a beautiful placelike this on the coastal side. The photos on the website we could sayare just a story half told. The place is splendid with the palmsbrushing each other, the waterfalls and the birds singing in thebackground! The rooms were beyond our expectations, very neat andspecious and the dinner was very delicious too served with a personaltouch by the waiter we remember his first name as Mombasa. Though itwas a one day stay we have memories that we really treasure and lookforward to another stay next time.

Review 84:The Wi-Fi connection just working near the area of the reception.

Review 85:A little pice of paradise on haven! We spend some unforgettable days at this place. We loved the spaceful room, offering a unique mixture of luxory and comfort. Everything is decorated with a lot of love for the detail in this marvelous place. The kitchen will spoil you, starting with a splendous breakfast, offering excelente cuisine also for dinner. The place is quiet and peaceful, very clean and the whole staff extremely friendly and everyone makes the biggest effort to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The big terrace and serveral chill- out areas around the pool just invites you to relax. The charming owner, Gioavanna, turned this place in an African Dream. Real money of value secret option.

Review 86:We just spent a very relaxing vacation in this wonderful resort. The room was large, comfortable and very clean and the service was outstanding. I loved the food, the tropical garden and the pool. The staff took care of us and made us feel like being old friends.
