Reviews for Fujikawaguchiko Onsen Konanso

Review 1:Some parts of hotel are in need of upgrade.

Review 2:The traditional Onsen experience was suberb. The baths, the traditonal Japanese meals and views of Mt Fuji. The staff were eager to please and very welcoming.

Review 3:If there is one thing that I must say, its the computer that controls the bath/onsen water. I still can't understand how to get the thing to work, but it did eventually.

Review 4:Well, nearly everything. Will definitely stay there again.

Review 5:- I remembered that the guests can have a dinner in the room. Somehow we had to go to the 5th floor for the dinner and breakfast

Review 6:- Clean room and its style - private hot tub on the balcony - they care about where you go and take care of your dinner and breakfast very well

Review 7:A little improvement in the breakfast menu will be perfect as the taste a bit off for our liking.

Review 8:I love everything about the hotel. The service is top notch, from the moment you arrive in the hotel, they pick you up in station in private car, check in very smooth, send you to your room, explain everything, service in the dining room, until the end you check out, kudos to all the staff. One of the staff even give us packs of warmer when they saw us walking in the road to keep our hand warm. Room is very big for Japan size, very comfortable with the tatami and great view to the lake Kawaguchi. Onsen also very good with Fuji-san as the background. Everything that you can wish from a 5 star hotel, if not even more. Truly satisfied and worth every penny! True Japanese hospitality. Very recommended.

Review 9:It will be awesome if staff's English can better

Review 10:Anything of service was great Hot springs refer so many sweet things, gd view on the top for Mt Fuji

Review 11:The Japanese dinner and breakfast was interesting and abit expensive

Review 12:Amazing location. Close to everything. View was breathtaking from bedroom. Private onsen and room was clean and comfortable.

Review 13:for me everything is ok

Review 14:i love the meal from this ryokan very much it's fresh and very tasty the location are very conveneince when you arrive to kawaguchiko station

Review 15:The food at breakfast and dinner may not suit people who does not like Japanese food

Review 16:Roof top view and foot bath were awesome! Room was very clean and comfortable

Review 17:The server for our dinner is shy, we would like to picture her serving us, but she politely told us no picture of her. But this is no big deal. Umm, compared to dinner, we did not enjoy the breakfast at all... And the time options are so early! We wished that they tell us more about the menu first and extend the breakfast time. The option was 7-7:45am

Review 18:I really like the public onsen! They provide all high products of soap like Shisedo. The view of the public onsen is Mt. Fuji. Very beautiful! Close by to convenient also. They provide yukata too! The futon is also very comfortable. The dinner is also very good! Very pricless traditional experience. We enjoy every single bit of the food served for us. Definately should try their dinner set.

Review 19:Staff were really accommodating and helpful. Rooms were very clean and spacious. We also got a lot of use from the shuttle bus to and from the station. The staff's restaurant recommendations were also great and they even took us in the shuttle bus to one which was close to the station.

Review 20:Outdoor onsen(hot spring) is quite small.

Review 21:fantastic view of Fuji mountain on the top floor,we were served by an old lady, although she has quite heavy accent when speaking English and hardly communicate with us, but it still being quite satisfied. And the food is soooooooo great!!! Both dinner and breakfast. And the room is really big, even two beds room has a balcony with fantastic lake view. There is also a private family onsen at hotel.

Review 22:After arriving in Kawaguchiko station, our needs were all taken care of thereafter. There was a shuttle bus taking us to the hotel, and after checking in, we were properly introduced to the room and there was even a "hostess" who was there to confirm our mealtimes and take care of all our meals. The onsen was great and women get to experience wearing pretty yukata after that. The view of both lake Kawaguchiko and Mt fuji is beautiful and unrestricted from the rooftop/onsen. The hotel is right in front of the lake and the retro sightseeing bus stop so it is a good location to be based for exploration in the vicinity. The Kachi Kachi Ropeway is also just 5 mins walk away! There are also many shops nearby if need be (we didn't have to cos there is everything we need in the hotel). Awesome experience that was totally worth it. We will be back!

Review 23:very clean, very nice staff, good onsen facility, great food and amazing view to mount Fuji! small tip: if you are not Japanese, don't forget to ask for a western breakfast..

Review 24:The lanai in the back of the room is separated from the next room by bamboo walls, which makes everything less peaceful if you've got loud neighbors. The building is not the tallest in the area and not completely private when going outside to sit in the hot tub which is a little distracting.

Review 25:The view of Mount Fuji The bathroom equipment is smarter than I am The experience of soaking in a hot springs tub while gazing upon Mount Fuji can only be experienced at a place like this

Review 26:Some parts of the hotel and room could be renewed as looks worn out eg tables, the wall close to the floor. The onsen was on 24 hrs (no option to stop) so if you are distutbed by the sound of water pouring than might not be your place to sleep. (At least this room). What was a minor inconvenience at arrival we were told we get green tea in our room. Despite the fact i called the reception and got reconfirmed it never happened. After 30 mins we gave up waiting for it. The dinner was nice, bit could have had a bigger variety meaning mainly fish and no meat.

Review 27:We booked a room that had its own 2person onsen overviewing the lake. The room was amazing, spacious, had a balcony, nicely decorated and the onsen was really nice. We enjoyed our dinner as well. The hotel is very close to the ropeway and the sightseeing boat too. The hotel has a rooftop balcony with a foot onsen with superb view over fuji and the lake.

Review 28:What an amazing hotel in a perfect location overlooking the lake. Served the most amazing ten course menu in our room by a lovely lady in her Kimono. Breakfast was as amazing in the breakfast area. The private Onsen is definitely worth using if you are there just for a night.

Review 29:Our room had this really funny smell. It just constantly smelled regardless if I had the doors opened or turned on the air con. We got the luxury room too with private indoor Onsen

Review 30:The Onsen. Very nice clean and the private indoor Onsen with the balcony view was spectacular

Review 31:No view of Mt Fuji from the rooms.

Review 32:Stayed in the superior room with my GF; Great bedrooms with private bath/onsen and view on the lake. impressive & tasty dinner, arguably the best public onsen facilities we saw in Japan

Review 33:Great location, great staff. Our room was fantastic, with private spa indoors facing the lake. We were lucky to go on a clear day so the view of Mt. Fuji was amazing. Enjoyed the trip.

Review 34:The futons and pillows were uncomfortable (although it was interesting to experience this traditional style of bedding). It was pretty expensive, which seems to be a combination of the cost to stay in this area in general, and the current exchange rate. I still think it was worth the experience to stay in this beautiful area. No view of Mt Fuji from the room but a great view from the rooftop.

Review 35:The location is very handy for the ropeway and swan boats. The staff are friendly and helpful. The onsen and rooftop foot spa are all lovely. Meals were very intricate with so many different little dishes to try. They brought out a special menu so we could select some food for our toddler (they even had food to suit babies) at only a small extra cost. A toddler chair, baby bouncer and children's dinnerware were provided in the room, and in the dining room at breakfast they had set up some cushions with a sheet over so our baby could lie there. The area itself is really beautiful and Mt Fuji looks so close!

Review 36:We booked 2 weeks japan with booking.com hotels relying on scores and comments and we very happy with all selections except this one..was last one so comparison was easy. I cannot understand the score of 9..the hotel has a tired look, no hint of the friendly and welcomining personel we encountered everywhere else. The room service was appalling..the lady cleaned our dinner whilst chatting on the phone making a big mess..really uncomfortable feeling. They know they get the guests anyway due to location but from price quality perspective this was a big disappointment.

Review 37:Location is good go to roofterras for view of mt fuji no need to take the cablecar.

Review 38:Excellent rooms with the laggon view. It is very expensive for hotel and one very importnat point is that there is no option for western breakfast , only japanese one

Review 39:The onsen was way too hot. This gave me a migraine. When it came time to check out I was very ill with a migraine and vomiting. When my husband asked if we could have some additional time in the room for me to lie down he was told if we didn't check out in the next 5 minutes we would be charged. Staff were not particularly compassionate and I had to sit on a chair in reception until I was well enough to leave the hotel. Staff also did not speak very good english so it was hard to communicate.

Review 40:I loved the room. It was very spacious and had an amazing view of the lake. The onsen was great as well though too hot. Dinner and breakfast were also very nice. It was great to try the different foods.

Review 41:Our hostess was amazing, looked after us so well. The food was a great experience and so delicious. With the incredible view, its a must visit in Japan!

Review 42:Breakfast too early! Check-out too early!

Review 43:Room clean, large and comfortable Staff very helpful and kind Nice lake view The shuttle from and to the station Public and family bath

Review 44:They prepare the wrong yukata for me. (for woman is the pink colour, for man is the blue one.) And they let me dress the blue one which it's very big size for all night, Luckily i didn't go and walk outsight the room.

Review 45:I and my husband stay at Nov.2-3, 2015 (1 night) at the japanese room with private outdoor bath include dinner and breakfast - mountain Fuji view. We really impress everything at this hotel esspecial a meal (called Kei-se-ki) and Mt.Fuji view. It's a very good experience for stay at this ryokan hotel and sleep-well on Futon (japanese bed). And i suggest you to try it all. We arrive kawaguchiko station at 11.40p.m. And we rent a bicycle to travel around the city, it's a brilliant day. (for information abount the rental shop, you can ask an information counter at the station.) P.s. If you arrive there earlier before check-in time @3 p.m., you can deposit your bag at the hotel and go to another interesitng place and come back before 6 pm. (Dinner time) in case your reservation include dinner.

Review 46:These points are minor: 1. A westerner might find the thin futons a little hard. 2. Though the location of the property in Kawaguchiko was ideal, the town itself is a little tired - though in a beautiful setting.

Review 47:The staff were courteous, polite, efficient and welcoming at all times and Masa(?) in particular was delightful. The facilities and the private hot bath in our suite were excellent. The ryokan was very clean. Large servings of multiple ingredients were supplied at mealtimes

Review 48:No socks and pajamas.

Review 49:The luxury room with lake view and private onsen was HUGE and beautiful. Hotel provided skincare products and many small gifts for guests. Yutaka was provided in the room and at the public baths.

Review 50:I thought that only one towel per customer was insufficient especially as it is an Onsen hotel. I personally did not like the Japanese breakfast at all and I usually like Japanese food. Perhaps a simple option could be given to western customers (fruit, toast and yoghurt). No atmosphere in the breakfast room (conference room set up) and had to be seated by 8am. I also don't mind checking in at 3pm however to be checked out at 10am is rude. Won't be staying here again.

Review 51:The view of the lake from our room was outstanding and the room itself was spacious and quite modern for this type of property. I really enjoyed the Onsen. We were blessed with clear blue sky's which made our trip to see Mt Fuji worth it.

Review 52:we were not served with the tea once entered into the room. whereas my other friends who stayed in another room were treated with tea once entered and seated while given explanation to them.

Review 53:shiawase kaiseki dinner and breakfast!!! they were made perfectly! love every tiny bits of here and there. the meals were superb!

Review 54:Ryokan was in front of Lake Kawaguchiko and also hadviews of Mt Fuji. Onsen was great and provided many beauty products for the ladies. Breakfast was traditional Japanese breakfast.

Review 55:It will be great to add coffee and bread into the Japanese breakfast.

Review 56:Very good service staff. Room with humidifier. Very clean facilities. Great view of Mount Fuji from Onsen.

Review 57:Slightly disappointed about the public bath. You can't really see Mount Fuji clearly with the blockages unless you're standing (probably a trade-off for privacy).

Review 58:It's a superb experience to stay here. The private onsen in my room has the perfect view facing Mount Fuji. The size of the private bath also fits better than the photos suggest. The meal is much better than expected as well. It's the most delicious meal I had in this trip to Tokyo plus Mount Fuji. Almost an out-of-the-world experience.

Review 59:Breakfast not on the Japanese traditional seat and no second option for continental breakfast being a 5 star hotel

Review 60:The onsen and the views from the room to the fuji mountain

Review 61:The hotel feels quite aged everywhere. Our room showed dirt stains on the floor. There are only two thin bath towels per person available, no hand towels - only paper napkins in the bathroom and toilet. The hotel smells like cooked cabbage all over the place. The breakfast area looked like a university canteen. I would have had to pay extra if I wanted coffee. For the steep price, I had expected excellence but found our stay completely overpriced and, therefore, cannot recommend it.

Review 62:The location of the hotel is perfect (we had a room on the top floor overlooking the lake). The onsen on the balcony was heavenly.

Review 63:Staffs speak very little English. Futon is not thick enough.

Review 64:The view of the lake is very beautiful. Good location near Kachi kachi ropeway. Free shuttle to and from station.

Review 65:The food was only Japanese cousine, and we were a little bit fed up with the umami taste on our second day. But there is a supermarket nearby. So it wasn't a big problem.

Review 66:We stayed here for two nights and loved it. The atmosphere was great! The photos and the desciption are accurate. We loved the onsen with Fujisan view. Futon beds are super comfortable. It's nice to walk around the lake. I know it's a bit expensive, but I think it's worth to stay one or two nights and feel the Japanese ryokan.

Review 67:Nothing! Was sensational!

Review 68:The ultimate authentic Japanese Onsen experience; beautifully position at the base of Mt Fuji, uninterrupted views of the lake and amazing food.

Review 69:not enough hot spring pool..

Review 70:shuttle bus service once arrival at kawaguchiko station. clean and high technology Japanese room style with peaceful lake view . the dinner is really valuable. Fully recommended.

Review 71:"thermal spa" in the room is just a not very inviting hot tub - not what you might expect. the whole place would need some renovation. a little overpriced for what it is.

Review 72:spacious and clean onsen. kaiseki dinner served at the room is great. centrally located hotel at the lakeside.

Review 73:Some dirt spot in the room.

Review 74:Staffs are very friendly and helpful. I need to change bus time, staff were very nice. He drove me to the station many times. I am very appreciated. Great view of lake kawaguchiko.

Review 75:The facility was great, as a foreigner traveling to Japan this is the exact experience I was looking for. Traditional Japanese dinner win gorgeous Fuji view!

Review 76:However, the service was really poor. As a first time comer, i did not know i need to book dinner in advance. When i arrived at 12pm i was told my room does not include dinner and i asked if i can add on right away. The hotel staff said no without even trying. I asked if they can check with the kitchen first and they didnt and just said can't. it was only at noon, already 6-7 hours before dinner time, still cannot be prepared. I even asked if we can pay extra to have the dinner set and they insisted. They were stubborn and not flexible. As one of the top and most expensive onsen hotel in the area, i think this service is unacceptable. How would you expect a tourist coming for the first time to know. It is not tourist friendly at all. There weren't much restaurants options nearby so we have no choice but to go to a random restaurant close to the bus station 10 minutes away. I was really disappointed and It completely ruined my mood and trip to lake kawaguchiko. I will not come again and will not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Review 77:The hotel is situated at the lake kawaguchiko with nice scenery.

Review 78:In suite hot spring not hot enough. Private hot spring too hot. In room shower has not enough water pressure. Hot spring temperature cannot be adjusted.

Review 79:Nice food. Nice room with in suite hot spring. Private hot spring which doesn't need to book or pay extra. Very nice private spa.

Review 80:Strict no late check - out policy which requires check - out at ridiculously early 10am. We didn't even get enough time to go Onsen since we arrived late and 2 young kids had to sleep early. We only requested for slightly later to experience the Onsen which was open till 10 am anyway, but was flatly rejected!

Review 81:Friendly and attentive staff, Mount Fuji view from rooftop footbath

Review 82:I have stayed in a few hotels during this trip and we could compare the warmth of the staff here versus elsewhere.. There is room for improvement in this area.

Review 83:I enjoyed the view of the lake from my room. It was a nice experience staying in a Japanese style room with futon etc..Food was great and the onsen was a delight to go to..

Review 84:1. WIFI in the room was slow 2. there was no laundry 3. most of the surrounding restaurants were closed for the dinner (maybe they are open in summer)

Review 85:1. great view on the lake 2. big, comfortable room 3. onsen, which is open 24 hours per day 4. hotel is located 10 minutes walking from the station 5. free shuttle is provided to pick up from the stations and bring back with luggage

Review 86:Nothing really...

Review 87:Room is large and well decorated. The whole hotel is very stylish indeed. Breakfast is great. Staff is attentive and helpful. The on-sen is just awesome. Had a great time there.

Review 88:The cleanliness of the hot-spring could have been better. For the price, I expected it to be spotless.

Review 89:The staff, especially Taiko, who was our in-room server were very friendly and happy to help us. The room was quite spacious and the view was nice. After hiking Mt. Fuji, the in-room onsen was a blessing.

Review 90:Waitress who served us dinner and breakfast can speak English very little. Price was probably a bit too high for an experience we got.

Review 91:The room was perfect! There's everything we need there. Front desk staff are really helpful and speak good English. Their Onsen was nice.

Review 92:The room, veiw, onsen, amenities, and staff were all incredible! It was expensive but well worth the money, would definitely do it again in the future.

Review 93:The room was too brightly lit -- I would suggest that the property add some floor lamps or something else to provide softer light at night. The room itself was clean and very comfortable, but something about its ambience was just very functional and a bit cold rather than calming. These are all minor quibbles, but I suppose I had expected more of a zen experience at the price the room cost. Also, you have to walk through the lobby gift shop to get to the elevators -- seemed a bit tacky.

Review 94:The property is beautiful inside, once you get up to the floors where the restaurant is and the baths. It's quiet and relaxing. The breakfast (Japanese) was very good as well as the baths, and of course I was quite happy to have the ensuite bath on my little deck. The staff is excellent and very attentive.

Review 95:couldn't see Mt. Fuji, but then Mt. Fuji hides a lot. Lake was nice.

Review 96:traditional Japanese Onsen Hotel. Loved the ambience. Sleeping on the floor on a futon was fun for one night. don't know if I could that for more than one night. The hot tub was great. private. the breakfast was Japanese style and they were very attentive to our needs.

Review 97:too expensive, and he breakfast was pretty much the same thing as the dinner...no customization or choice to have some different variety,

Review 98:Excellent location, quality of private baths and rooms

Review 99:Larger than expected, expensive. Foot spa isn't as amazing as it looks, nice view from roof though.

Review 100:Amazing food, service, location and traditional experience with modern twist.

Review 101:Couldn't eat dinner there because we didn't make a reservation the day before.

Review 102:Enjoyed the family style tatami rooms, private onsen bath, nice view of the lake, and breakfast.

Review 103:Stunning views of the lake Hot spring bathtub with lake views Japanese robe provided Every need for comfort anticipated and provided for Incredible Japanese food served in a private room View of Mount Fuji from the toilet! Very helpful staff

Review 104:Futon was quite thin.

Review 105:Picked us up promptly at the train station within a few minutes of our phone call. Let us check in early (before 2pm). Beautifully updated room w/our own open air bath. Shiseido toiletries provided, double sinks, big shower area, completely separate toilet.

Review 106:Check out was a little early (10am), onsen facilities not available between 10am-3pm, massages only available after 3pm.

Review 107:Lovely helpful staff, spotless large room, great view.

Review 108:Maybe I am too sensitive, the beddings were not that clean.

Review 109:The hotel is so sweet. They offered picking up and sending service of the bus terminal and the driver was cute by the way.The spring was comfortable and the breakfast and dinner could be called as feast!!

Review 110:the room was clean in general, but not perfect. It is not acceptable for the price and the status of this excellent hotel to have a window, with a view at the lake, full of fingerprints. There were also hair in the wardrobe...

Review 111:The view at the lakeside, dinner in room, the quality of the dinner and breakfast, the speed of the wifi, the onsen.

Review 112:The location isn't terribly convenient for people using public transport as it's a 10-15 minute walk from the station along a country road (you're not in a city here by any stretch). I think onsen resort towns are becoming less popular here as people choose to travel overseas instead. But it was peaceful and beautiful and we loved it (so not really a negative!).

Review 113:The standard rooms are fairly small and unappealing, but if you book one of the larger rooms (or maybe they are suites) they are quite spectacular with separate bath and toilet and lots of space, as well as a small balcony. The hotels across the river are abandoned, which we found fascinating rather than creepy. The buffet breakfast and dinner are both amazing, so many dishes to try and all delicious. Go dressed in your yukata, everyone does.

Review 114:The breakfast. Not all people can manage to have Japanese breakfast. It should be at least Continental

Review 115:The design of the hotel which look like Japanese house

Review 116:Nothing. But perhaps the futons could be thicker!

Review 117:Our room has a very nice view of Lake Kawaguchiko and is very pleasant. The meals were also quite tasty (in spite of the small portions). The roof garden, where the foot spa is located, provides a good spot for looking at Mt Fuji.

Review 118:personally I find this roykan over rated. The dinner and breakfast are average at best but very costly. there are many other inns in the same neighbourhood.

Review 119:Lake facing view

Review 120:Great location, great food, great onsen, views of Mount Fuji! Breakfast was delicious Japanese style and the hotel staff worked hard to give a traditional and cultural experience

Review 121:Amazing place with incredible panoramic views of my Fuji and the lake from the rooftop foot spa and spring in room was amazing too. Free shuttle pick up was great and service was friendly

Review 122:- We took a stay with breakfast and dinner included during 6 days. It was a huge mistake! Every day the food was the same. And every day it was japanese. The breakfast is not buffet style and it was really difficult to eat fish and soup in the morning. Both my parents and I had nausea from their food. - We didn't see Fujiyama from our room - Same song playing in the hotel all day long

Review 123:- Nice view of the lake - Calm (maybe too much...) - baths

Review 124:Yamanashi-ken is known their grapes so I was expecting grape juice to be offered in the breakfast buffet. I was disappointed that it was not offered. However the rest of the food was excellent.

Review 125:Walking distance to Kawaguchiko station. Very nice deluxe room with great view of Mt. Fuji. Onsen facility was great. Also perfect view of Mt. Fuji in onsen when clear.

Review 126:The hotel is overlooking the lake and Mt. Fuji is very visible on the top floor. The onsen is one of the best thing you can experience from this hotel.

Review 127:The room that we reserved has the perfect view of Fuji Mt. We can see Fuji Mt. Even from living room. Hotel staffs are very helpful and friendly. I really love this hotel.

Review 128:We were woken up by crow at 4am...maybe it just didn't want to waste our time in sleeping. Nothing else.

Review 129:We drove to Konansou, easy to access and good with free parking. I booked the luxury room with open air bath. That's truly worth for value. We enjoyed the hot spring with the scenic view of Lake Kawaguchi. The best thing is the hotel equipped with the baby yukata, which allows my son to enjoy a moment with the traditional costume. Good people and food.

Review 130:- view of Mount Fuji from the public bath and rooftop - we called for the hotel shuttle from the tourist information counter at Kawaguchiko station and it arrived in 5 min. - room is spacious and the toilet is clean, with sensors that turn on the light, lift up the WC cover and also tap water. - my room has the scenic view of Lake Kawaguchiko - Both dinner and breakfast are just average, no wow factor.

Review 131:Food too much. Forcing ourselves to finished all food in dinner and breakfast as we do not want to wastage the food. May be hotel should reduce the size of food to be served at reduce charges.

Review 132:Free pick up service. Staff very efficient.

Review 133:Nothing!

Review 134:Loved the room size and private outdoor Onsen. Dinner and breakfast was excellent and there was enough food to serve four even though we were there as a couple. Service was above the call of duty. The roof top foot Onsen was beautiful as one can soak their feet in full view of Mt. Fuji. Takes your breath away.
