Reviews for Fuji Lake Hotel
Review 1:I only wished that the Hop on/Hop off buses would stop in front of the hotel. We also had to rush through our breakfast, which had excellent selections because we only had an early train to catch. This was no fault of the hotel. The next time we shall plan better and enjoy a leisurely breakfast!!
Review 2:Due to our age, we now rather sleep in beds rather than the floor. This was a nice accommodation. The private bath was very convenient, however the main onsen had many features: sauna, indoor and out door baths. I pictured the outdoor bath in the winter with snow falling. Wow!! The food was fit for a king. The town was laid back and away from the hustle and bustle of Osaka and Kyoto.
Review 3:Excellent location. Free shuttle service. Very Japanese experience- we were only Europeans. Enjoyed the evening's entertainment: bingo game and drum show. Excellent dinner and buffet breakfast. Will stay here on next visit to Mt. Fuji.
Review 4:Room quality was terrible for the price, much better staying elsewhere for a third of the price. Don't bother with this place, for >£300/night expectations are high and nowhere near met Old and shabby inside and out, very very dated and in need of modernisation Definitely not the luxury feel we were counting on for the price
Review 5:Location not bad
Review 6:Bed & pillows particularly horrible. A/C in room ran flat out as there are no sheets, only dooner. Could not stay cool enough overnight.
Review 7:In room onsen fantastic together with the breakfast
Review 8:The room was spacious and clean. We had an amazing view of mt fuji from our room. Loved the free shuttle to take guests to the train station and the location of the hotel by the lake was beautiful. Had a very relaxing time here.
Review 9:Such a wonderful hotel, with a beautiful view! You really get your money's worth at this hotel. We stayed in a room with a private bath and it was so relaxing and so beautiful! Mt. Fuji was a grand sight and at night, the lake was gorgeous!
Review 10:I loved the view of Mt Fuji from the room and bathroom. The bathroom was huge and the onsen was amazing. The complimentary green tea and cookies were delicious. They even had a transportation shuttle to the mall to eat outside of the hotel.
Review 11:Being my wife's birthday I wanted a room with good view of Mt.Fuji - unfortunatly the corner room had some very disturbing buildings infront of the Mt.Fuji.
Review 12:Staff very friendly and helpful
Review 13:The table in our room was sticky with food stains. We had to clean it ourselves.
Review 14:We enjoyed our stay at the hotel very much, especially the private in-room hot spring bath, the buffet breakfasts with plenty of choices of Western and Eastern dishes, and excellent Japanese dinners. Hotel staff were very courteous and helpful.
Review 15:the hotel's room was very clean and awesome. i went to bed with Mt.fuji scene. Unfortunately, it was raining all the next day so Mt.Fuji was disappeared.
Review 16:Not so much of a shopping area. It is more for scenic. The hotel room did not come with hand towels.
Review 17:Scenic view of Mt Fuji from outside our room and also the private bath. Location wise was quite near to the train station and there is free shuttle to the hotel and station. The staffs were very friendly and the hotel is within walking distance to cruise and cable cars which were near.
Review 18:Air conditioning system should be improved it's quite old
Review 19:There was great memories to stay this hotel, staff is very kind and helpful especially Onsen staff she treated us so well. I'll stay with this hotel again once I getting back to xKawaguchiko
Review 20:The drum showcase at night was pretty loud. Some parts of the hotel were dark at night; some parts need minor refurbishing (e.g. walls).
Review 21:The hotel was easy to find, and it was lovely waking up every morning to a full view of the lake. The view of Mount Fuji is close and clear and can be enjoyed during breakfast. Good breakfast spread. Clean and large-ish rooms. Wonderful Onsen which was big, clean and had everything you'll need for a refreshing bath. Really good massage chairs. Loved the pillows (good support). Daily Japanese biscuits provided were a good touch. Comfortable driving distance to Fujiten (ski resort).
Review 22:The room was spacious and in room onsen was really nice with mount fuji view. My kids totally enjoyed the stay and was still talking abt the hotel after we moved to another part of tokyo. Staff were indeed polite and helpful and enthusiastic to help despite speaking little English. In room dining was great! 2nd nite we had the lake view which was fantastic too. Onsen was bigger and room was bigger;) Overall the hotel is highly recommended!
Review 23:The comfortable Japanese Tatami room. Our comfortable Western beds. The friendly and informative Staff. Our Yukatas that we wore to dinner and breakfast. Our wonderful Japanes banquet we had for dinner and the more than generous breakfast. The view of the lake was glorious. The photo point of Mt Fuji on our floor. The beautiful Decor of the Cafe.
Review 24:there are other hotels around the lake with a much better view of mt Fuji; overall hotel condition is quite run down esp lobby carpets etc
Review 25:Staff are very helpful;
Review 26:It's on the lake side and not facing Fuji. Although our room said mountain view, Fuji is being instructed by many buildings. The set food is poor although the setting is nice. The dining room is unacceptable. Looks like a high school functions facility.
Review 27:I like the comfort of the room and the in room onsen facing Fuji
Review 28:The room is spacious and the lake view is beautiful.Shuttle bus service is fantastic as it is run on guests' demand base instead of fixed schedule timetable. Onsen (both inside and outside) is clean and comfortable too.
Review 29:The staff was very friendly and more than willing to assist. The dinner was excellent. The view of the lake was marvelous. The location of the hotel was perfect.
Review 30:Were not allowed to have dinner as we had not booked inclusive but there are virtually no restaurants open in town after 6pm. Not vey helpful approach
Review 31:Location and onsen facilities, comfortable beds and pleasant staff
Review 32:We requested a non smoking room but there was a smoking station just down the corridor so the corridor constantly smelt of smoke. It was at the point which was designated as the Mt. Fuji viewing spot which meant we couldn't enjoy the view and smoke was also able to be smelt in the dining room whilst eating. The fridge was locked at certain times so couldn't access milk for a cup of tea.
Review 33:Views were spectacular. Staff were great and helpful.
Review 34:The hotel could benefit redecoration. When we stayed, other guests were mostly elderly.
Review 35:The hotel location is perfect. Hotel will collect and deliver you from the railway station. You can walk to the boats and cable car. Our lake view room had a private open air bath. The hotel also has a public Japanese bath (male and female separate). Food was good.
Review 36:-breakfast ends at 8.30 what gives no opportunities to say in bed long -public areas: lobby, restaurant, lounge need some serious refurbishing and reconstruction -for 500 EUR per night dont expect any luxury nor flexibility -nothing to do in the area after 19, indeed you have to go to bed to walk up early for breakfast ;-)
Review 37:-location -onsen -rooms - comfortable and large - staff - friendly and polite but very little language skills
Review 38:Mediocre food as part of the half board package Dirty carpets everywhere Hotel needs clean up and refurbishment of all public areas
Review 39:Front location to the lake Nice views on Mount Fuji from the Mount Fuji observatory Relatively spacious rooms with good amenities
Review 40:There is not a lot to do or see in the area other than climbing the mountain itself.
Review 41:Proximity to Mt Fuji. Room was large with a nice view of the mountain. The breakfast room has a great panoramic view of the area.
Review 42:Here, you can only see either the mount or the lake, not both. For better view, go for the establishments at the north side of the lake. Dinner was so-so.
Review 43:The hotel has a Fujikyu sightseeing bus stop. View of mount Fuji is decent, although it has lots of buildings in front. Staff was extremely polite and helpful.
Review 44:I assume we had just a standard room, but it was not cheap. There is no way any of the views claimed on the website were available to most of the hotel, including the breakfast sky lounge. The onsen facilities, like much of the hotel, need some serious investment. Overall we were very disappointed
Review 45:As all hotels in Japan, this hotel was clean, and staff friendly
Review 46:Visited in early July & couldnt find anything open past 7pm in the area - not even for dinner. Was really surprised by this. Area really terrible at night. Thankfully we only had 2 nights booked here. Hotel is very very dated & could do with some TLC in most areas. It looks more run down than traditional in most parts which is sad because it could be a big lovely hotel. No alcoholic bar in the hotel, only a vending machine with beer or gin?!?! Only Japanese dinner menu available in the hotel which isnt great when there is no choice in the area. Serious lack of dining options in the area. Very limited in general.
Review 47:Lovely staff. Gorgeous lake view from the room. Nice to experience the Japanese traditional room. Good choice for breakfast. Lake area stunning during day, good for a long walk. Good free shuttle van to & from train/bus station. Amazing view of Mount Fugi on a clear day.
Review 48:Service can be better.
Review 49:very good view of Mt Fuji from room onsen
Review 50:Staff need better english, as lots of western guests.
Review 51:Great location, nice Onsens in room, and great lake views, a little dated but kind of works.
Review 52:No food after 9pm and the staff were extremely rude
Review 53:Great location
Review 54:overpriced for services provided
Review 55:location
Review 56:Furniture a bit old
Review 57:Location,friendly staff, large room with beautiful lake view
Review 58:Onsen, breakfast, view to the lake, very comfortable room, eexcellent service! They offered free taxi from the station to the hotel and back.
Review 59:Location, size of the room, god view of the lake and Mount Fuji, service, complimentary water in the room
Review 60:Cost almost twice compare with the hotel in the same level.
Review 61:cozy bed room and in room onsen
Review 62:Who closes the restaurants and bar in a Friday evening when hotel is nearly full ???
Review 63:Too expensive comparing to the hotel condition
Review 64:Location is the best
Review 65:old, used up hotel, quite expensive, not worth the price
Review 66:Location, bath, transfer to the train station
Review 67:Everything was pleasant.
Review 68:The location and the onsen ...
Review 69:Food
Review 70:View from room, you can see Fuji Mt.
Review 71:You only can see lake not Mt. Fuji from the hotel
Review 72:Food was good
Review 73:No dinner is open on the night
Review 74:Bath and bed are both facing Mt. Fuji, good onsen
Review 75:Very nice experience. Convenient location. Helpful staff. Very clean. Good food, both dinner & breakfast. Will return again.
Review 76:Very nice view to the lake and Mt. Fuji
Review 77:Food was not value for money.
Review 78:Staff and good facilities
Review 79:Public spa a little small
Review 80:Like side view
Review 81:food
Review 82:Dated decor and appointments could do with an update.
Review 83:Clean, pleasant, polite helpful staff.
Review 84:little bit expensive
Review 85:landscape, room, onsen, massage (not included) and kaiseki cusine
Review 86:Poor English
Review 87:Location
Review 88:Communication was difficult particularly at reception. No one spoke any more than just a few words of English. This would be only criticism.
Review 89:Great location for Lake and view of Mount Fuji. Very relaxing. Best of all was the evening meal. We stayed 2 nights and dinner was a work of art on both occasions. I have no idea what we ate but it was superbly presented and went down a treat. Even our 4 year old tried and enjoyed most of what was presented to her. A real Japanese experience!
Review 90:The hotel originates from the 1930's and the decor remains dated but this gives character. Part of my room was traditional and beautiful, all ver clean but the view and location are what you pay for. Superb. Mt Fuji one side and Kawaguchiko lake the other. There are amenities close by including a cable car which is worth a go to see the view. The hotel provides a free shuttle bus to take you into the main part of the town near the station which is a five minute drive. Breakfast was great ... And the public bath/onsen clean. Staff incredibly helpful. They provided entertainment in the evenings with traditional Japanese drums & bingo. I'd definitely recommend to friends & family.
Review 91:The room rate is overpriced with half board i.e. dinner and breakfast. So at check-in time, we opt for no dinner. Lo and behold all the dining places in the area were inaccessible because the free bus service plying in that area stopped at about 6pm. We can only walk about 1 bus stop away in the dimly lit roads and finally settled in a small restaurant just across Fuji Lake hotel... for a simple but appetising meal by an old couple 73 and 66 years old.
Review 92:Lake Kawaguchiko is a nice place and we enjoyed the stopovers by the bus although the intervals were a little long to wait. At the last stop 22, on 21 June we managed to catch a glimpse of the magnificient Mt Fuji from a distance. It was originally covered by clouds but the window was opened for photography for a brief period! Amazing view... Breakfast buffet-styled was decent with the usual mostly Japanese offerings. Overall ok for a 1 night stay!
Review 93:Having to go home afterwards!
Review 94:The setting and in-room bath was amazing. A real treat. Breakfast was fine - nothing amazing, but nice and lots of options; western and Japanese. Didn't have dinner, or stick around for the drum show or bingo. Went for a walk around the lake instead, much nicer!
Review 95:The whole building including the rooms are worn out. Too bad they missed to renovate the rooms or some other rooms in the hotel. The chairs in the lobby are stained so is the carpet in the hallways and rooms. The price is not worth for what you get We had cheaper hotels in Japan with more than twice the comfort
Review 96:On the lake, with view to lake and on the orher side Mt Fuji - this place was once top.
Review 97:It would have been nice if the hotel were located on the other side of the lake so that both Mt Fuji and the lake could be seen together.
Review 98:Very helpful staff and well furnished rooms. Nice views over the lake. Good cultural ambiance and historic hotel. Excellent dinner and breakfast.
Review 99:The restaurant need a renovation to match with the delicious taste of the food. Right now is very impersonal and not "confort" don't have identity if you know what I mean.
Review 100:Excellent location with a beautiful view of the lake at one side and mount fuji on the other. Friendly staff and delicious dinner and breakfast.
Review 101:Melamine plates, tired decor, lack of ambience in dining areas upstairs.,
Review 102:Matcha in room, drum performance in evening. Public bath, view of lake from breakfast area, quality massage.
Review 103:Stale smell in the hallways and lobby, really old furniture/carpet, no flexibility on check out...it felt like we were being pushed out at 10:00 a.m.
Review 104:staff courtesy, location, lake view, room size, shuttle to train station (even though we were not informed of it s availability before checking in), entertainment
Review 105:There was little guidance on how to eat the evening meal (in which order to eat the courses, how to prepare the dishes) which is difficult if you have no idea as a foreigner - plus it's fairly expensive.
Review 106:The view is breathtaking and the facilities are top notch. We booked a room with a private bath and a lake view, but the public bath is very good and I almost preferred it. The rooms were large and the Japanese-style area with tatami mats was a nice addition. I would chose a room with a view to the lake, just because I found Mount Fuji is usually cloudy by 9am, and the lake view is also stunning in the evening.
Review 107:They had drum show every night. Although it was for 15-20 minutes but it wad very loud and noisy.
Review 108:Breakfast has a variety of options and the onsen in the rooms was great.
Review 109:I was very impressed with Fuji Lake Hotel. I was traveling with my parents and booked a semi western style room with private bath which worth every penny. The view of the lake was breathtaking and the room was impeccably clean and filled with all the amenities you need. Everything was prepared for our arrivals even our dinner was altered according to our dietary needs. The food was amazing and the staff members were exceptionally friendly.
Review 110:Breakfast provided a large variety, but fairly bad quality to my western tastes. Miso soup and furikake, picked plums etc. were very good... And nearly everything else (yes everything) was mediocre to pretty bad. Lawson, a 4 minute walk down the road, has nice snacks and ok coffee :)
Review 111:Excellent dinner (Kaiseki style cuisine), which had to be booked in advance. Absolutely enormous room with lake view. The hotel provides rooms with either a lake view or Fuji view. Not both. Really really nice onsen and a full lineup of massage chairs were available. I am coming back here when I am wrinkly for sure.
Review 112:What is not to like? Maybe the fact that dinner was so big we were not very hungry at breakfast time!
Review 113:This hotel is an easy walk from the train station and is on the edge of the lake. We were warmly welcomed and our rooms were fabulous. The dinners we had were huge and delicious. The hotel had a very friendly feel and loved the evening bingo (though the teenagers would not play!) The public baths were delightful - peaceful with an outdoor tub.
Review 114:We had a gorgeous mountain view tatami room with out own hot spring which was fabulous. We enjoyed the traditional Japanese course dinner which was so thoughtfully prepared. The staff were absolutely fantastic and spoke great English.
Review 115:Set dinner was nice, with a lot of various food but not the best we had - we were maybe expecting more refined dishes. Still enjoyable though!
Review 116:Great room facing the lake Amazing location between lake and Fuji-san Very nice private bath in the room Good breakfast buffet Our goal was to enjoy views on Fuji-san in a very comfortable hotel: achieved, beyond expectations!
Review 117:Extremely expensive for an over-rated, apparently four-star hotel for its appearance and service. The entire hotel is old, tired and outdated from its structure to the furnishing, and possibly has not been redecorated for at least 40 years! Walking into the hotel lobby gives you a sense of the country cottage feel, while dining at their 'Sky Hall' is reminiscent of eating at a school canteen. We had a hot spring in our room facing Mount Fuji. But the tub hardly fits two and was way much smaller than the photo reference shown at booking. The rooms were a little dusty and had a musty smell. As the window was small, the room had little natural light. Making things worst is the dull dim lights which made me feel like I was going to trip over myself. There was a choice of Japanese and Western breakfast, but the food was below average. Dinner comes in Japanese sets but weren't any good.
Review 118:We stayed in a Deluxe Twin Room with Tatami Area and a nice view of Mount Fuji from our room. Staff were friendly and helpful. But again like most places in Japan, don't expect too much in English language proficiency. Good location. Very near the Kachi Kachi Ropeway that heads up to Mt. Tenjo for a good view of Mount Fuji. Also, only a 15-minute leisurely walk to Kawaguchiko Station. Hotel provides free shuttle bus service. Everything in Fuji closes early and so the hotel attempts to put together some entertainment for their guests after dinner, first with a game of Bingo followed by their Taiko Drum cultural performance. Wi-fi is available.
Review 119:Loved that they offered a shuttle service from Kawaguchiko train station. It offers great views of lake kawaguchiko. Was impressed with their common bath house.
Review 120:10am check out is too early. No free wifi in the room.
Review 121:The service is good, and there is bingo game with prizes and drum performance at night. Breakfast spread is nice too! The lake view is good! The free transport to kawaguchiko station is great too!
Review 122:We weren't informed at check in about dinner condition to book it before 5 pm! Poor English of reception staff! Pillows not very comfortable.
Review 123:Lokation and scenery. Good view of Fuji Mountain. Free drop off at train station.
Review 124:A bit disappointing that there is no room available for viewing Mt. Fuji (although there is one on the rooftop for general viewing). Not really a negative ...
Review 125:Superb Japanese cuisine as part of the half-board; huge room with Japanese-style living room. Liked the homey atmosphere and the private bath service.
Review 126:Bathrooms are tiny and run down. Whole hotel actually feels likeit's had it's best time and needs to be freshed up. Most of alljust not great value for money.
Review 127:Lovely but small spa, great view of Mt Fuji if the weather is ok.
Review 128:The in-room onsen, and the public bath too. The friendliness of the staff. The breakfast was really good. The set course dinner was a great unique experience (but a bit pricey). The view of mount Fuji from the dining hall.
