Review 1：Booking.com's site advised there was free wifi in all areas. It's actually only usable in public areas. Once your room's door is closed the wifi cuts out.

Review 2：Hotel Apolo is right in the heart of the lovely tourist town of Vila Real la Santo Antonio. It's a short stroll to touristy shops, cafes, restaurants and the river marina area. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and spoke excellent English.

Review 14：Great location if you want to eat out, close to the main tourist shopping zone and a short walk from the riverside promenade where there are some nice restaurants. Also, fairly close to a couple of good birdwatching locations. Breakfast was really good.

Review 16：Breakfast could have been a lot better! The breakfast staff (one girl in particular) were sullen. There was no tea/tea bags available. I had to find a staff member and ask, she shrugged and offered me herbal tea, which is okay but not what I really wanted. Eventually after a lot of eye rolling and grumbling, she found some normal black tea in a cupboard. Her attitude was not at all helpful. Is black tea such an unusual request? There was no salt or pepper available, again I had to ask and she could not find salt, only an old empty pepper pot. I thought the bread and croissants were stale. The tinned sausages were cheap and pretty grim. My daughter's juice glass was chipped horizontally around the rim and was dangerous. The wifi was very weak and slow and not truthfully available in the rooms. All the water ran out - hot and cold - while I was showering fully covered in frothy shower gel. After an anxious phone call and a 15 minute wait it did come back on.

Review 20：The hotel was really clean and friendly, a great location with the reception staff really friendly. Rooms were great and breakfast was ample. Pool was on the cold side but great to cool down in.

Review 21：Booked 2 double rooms (instead of twin rooms) for 2 single individuals but 'double' meant 2 single beds together and were made up as a single bed. Did not push it but would have preferred make up as a double bed

It's such a shame as the hotel could be making so much more money if they had someone serving customers at the pool, they are obviously not providing the best customer service simply to save on wages cost wich is wrong. They need an hotel business consultant to shape up their business to its best potential. The staff at breakfast were not interested and the quality of the food was really poor and cheap. Also the tables are too close to each other making it so difficult to walk around when full. I asked the waitress for more juice but it never came. Poor poor service.

Although it's not a 5 star hotel its not the staffs fault in general. it was worth the money we paid and not anymore. Review 35：I stayed for 5 nights and for some reason the water on the last 2 mornings wasn't very warm for a shower. I did mention this to reception on the 4th day. However, later on both days the water was hot. Everything else was good.

However on this occassion we noticed that the bed sheets were small and found ourselves sleeping directly on the mattress at times, we also experienced that the toilet extractor was not functioning and there was a foul smell of sewage throughout our stay. This was reported to staff but nothing wasdone about it. If visiting this hotel in future avoid room 410. Having said this it will not deter us from staying at this hotel again.
