Reviews for Eidfjord Gjestgiveri

Review 1:Nothing

Review 2:Located right by the water, this hotel offers a stunning view of the fjord. It also has its own jetty and a private yacht. Arriving on a windy and rainy day in winter, all such facilities were closed for the season. The attendant left me a note and a key to the room. My wife and I were probably the only 2 guests in the hotel, but the staff had the hotel well lit by light so we did not feel being left alone. The room was large, cosy and warm, a true haven in a windy winter night. Facilities were very good and I really couldn't ask for more.

Review 3:It should be explicit that the shared bathroom/shower is used by both men and women.Maybe it is usual in Norway?

Review 4:This property was a pleasant surprise. The decor was creative and quite unique. Breakfast was fantastic. The cook should get a raise. The owner is charming and hilarious!

Review 5:The sheets were dirty. The shower and toilet were outside the room - was not mentioned while booking. .Poor breakfast Hot water in the shower ran out after 8(!) minutes.

Review 6:Large room and bathroom. Large bed.

Review 7:Our room was next to the shared bathroom, could hear when anyone used the sink or used the toilet- and or showerdoors. Lots of door slamming.

Review 8:Beautiful room, friendy staff, great location to explore the area. Lovely (panecake) restaurant downstairs.

Review 9:Historic house in Old (Ovre) Eidfjord. Cosy and comfortable dining and sitting room areas with good wifi connection, playing cards, board games etc. Friendly staff. Great breakfast. Room 8 recommended: comfortable beds (double with extra single bed available), clean and spacious with large private bathroom, mountain views. Good location for exploring the surrounding area, including hiking, waterfalls, the Hardangervidda National Park etc. Nearby Sima Kraftwerk hydro plant excursion also recommended.

Review 10:Shared bathroom. No wifi or TV in bedroom. Poor wifi connection in public areas. Expensive and limited dinner menu.

Review 11:Good location. Excellent breakfast.

Review 12:Steen is an unbelievably helpful host. We had to change our hiking plans because of swollen rivers. He accommodated us for an extra night while we figured out a new route. After 2 days of hiking our new route one in our party needed to stop. He accommodated us with all our last minute changes. He saved the trip! He is a lovely man and I recommend his guest house highly.

Review 13:Steen was very friendly and accommodating as soon as I arrived. He takes great care of his guests and went as far to drive me to my bus stop further up ahead in Eidfjord when I departed. The accommodation is very clean and kept to high standards. There is a bus stop 1-2 minutes walk away making it highly accessible. Breath-taking views from my window too.

Review 14:The breakfast is delicious. The hostess is really nice. The house and the place are great. Note that the place is very easy to find when one comes from Geilo. It is a little bit before Eidford itself and there's a sign on the road.

Review 15:The staff, at first, was pretty abrupt and unfriendly, no sign of warmth and hospitality. (We arrived at the guesthouse around 1pm, though check in was 3 pm, no one, strangely answered the door and we rang - a few times. We just waited on the porch. An hour or so late another guest came - and was also concerned that no one was home. She tried to call the number - but it was not is service. at exactly 3pm - the door opened and came out the host. We were shocked. No explanations were given, no apologies. I ask to switch rooms if it was ok - looking out to the farm and mountains behind - she coldly said, no there's the mountain (pointing in front of the house) Host didn't offer anything - when we arrived. even if there as a set up for free tea or coffee. (The hot water was cold. She said, just ask me. Wifi doesn't work in the bedroom.

Review 16:Location 7km bus easy bus from the port - but a world away, with dramatic mountains 360 degree views, and across the guesthouse is a fjord lake, with gushing streams pouring in around the camp grounds. Proximity to the nature center (its rooftop is a goat's meadow!) and restaurant; by walking less than 5 minutes from the guesthouse; great fish soup! more than great! the living room of the guesthouse is lovely (Louis the XIV plush décor) but comfortable. have tea in there.

Review 17:No ensuite Small bedrooms Difficult to read in the reading room and bedroom as there was little light Breakfast was dissapointing

Review 18:Good for inexpensive accommodation Clean

Review 19:Everything i love about Norway is right here. Beautiful, clean, great food, homestyle atmospheir, and in a post card area. The only thing I like better than staying here is staying AGAIN!! The owners and there small staff are first class. See you next time...Jerry and Kat fra Oregon.

Review 25:Great location

Review 26:Furniture, design and breakfast

Review 27:Unique style. Great people!

Review 28:This was such a cute guesthouse. The furnishings made me smile.

Review 29:Very friendly and helpful

Review 30:"Baroque" interior . Setting along a busy road .

Review 31:Very kind ower and staff

Review 32:The location is unbeatable. The decor is fabulous if a little quirky.

Review 33:Terrible food; no power source in room

Review 34:Young Danish women working in the kitchen

Review 35:No lift but helpfull staff

Review 36:Try to get the room with a view of the fjord with balcony

Review 37:Really well situated between Eidfjord and Voringfossen, this Hotel is quite welcoming, with a real style (and a deer!)

Review 38:the twin bed

Review 39:Really cute taste in the charme of the rooms and the shared places. No problem with the shared bathroom (very clean)

Review 40:Well, WC and shower is shared, moreover men' toilet, female' toilet, and 2 showers are all in the same room, which is uncomfortable. There is noise from transport outside (the hotel is just near the highway), plus flattering flags in front of building become disturbing at night. Hotel is overpriced, even for Norwegian standards, I think..

Review 41:Breakfast was not bad. Room itself is rather cozy.

Review 42:You could do everything on sight. Friendly owner. Interested in you, as a visitor. Breakfast was very good and fresh Parking at the door Owner hands on

Review 43:Would appreciate "real" butter and jam for breakfast, as well as yoghurt.

Review 44:Well-located place with a homely feeling. The rooms have an old-fashioned charm. The facilities are clean and plenty enough. The value for money is very good and I would be back with pleasure.

Review 45:In season the shared facilities may get a bit crowded - we had no problem in September but it was quiet

Review 46:Beautiful location Clean and tidy Quiet and peaceful

Review 47:- a few kilometers away from Eidfjord (but this was actually no problem with a car)

Review 48:- very nice rooms - low fares - very good kitchen (you must try the home made pancakes) - very warm welcome

Review 49:Great place, conveniently located with nice mountain scenery. Nicebedding, very clean bathrooms. Steen is very hospitable host, and hismeat balls are truly delicious after a long day of hiking in the fjords.

Review 50:We drove a ways out of our way to stay here as we had a hard time finding something in the area...even though we booked months ahead. TV in restaurant on 1st floor. W/C & showers in guesthouse is "unisex".

Review 51:First off - we booked to stay at the cottage, but when we arrived & saw that they were just a framed small building (reminded me of a child's playhouse) sitting right next to the busy hi-way and it was rainy & chilly. The W/C & showers were a bit of a walk from the cottage & unisex.....we opted for a room at the guesthouse which was more than double the price, but a better option.

Review 52:Very close to highway so a little noisy from trucks and cars driving by.

Review 53:Very friendly owner. Beautiful main building. Stayed in a clean cozy cabin with full kitchen, but bathroom was in main building. Lovely and scenic area in the fjords. Great price.

Review 54:Strong smell of cooking.

Review 55:Excellent location.

Review 56:very comfortable, the hosts are very nice.

Review 57:Noice during nigth time from traffic. The evening meal (dinner) was very simple and not tasty.

Review 58:The beds were very good Very friendly owner and staff.

Review 59:Separate bathroom and weak wifi.

Review 60:Wonderful B&B and location! Frindely staff.

Review 61:Awesome. Friendly, beautiful and clean facilities, excellent breakfast.

Review 62:Did not like the huts, so we upgraded to one of the lovely rooms.

Review 63:Wonderfull place full of charme.

Review 64:Quiet place.

Review 65:WiFi didn't really work in cabins or even in the main building.

Review 66:Toilets

Review 67:Wifi was not available in cottage, only in common area

Review 68:Nice cottage Good view

Review 69:Need common area - separate from restaurant. Lose the televisions.

Review 70:Well decorated

Review 71:The hunted dear in front of balcony.

Review 72:We liked the dinner and the rooms design, each room with different color.
