Reviews for Brisbane Riverview Hotel
Review 1:Loved the staff being super helpful and friendly, the convenience of the location and easiness to find/park etc. Also loved the refurbishment- the room and bathroom were beautiful- especially that the mirror didn't fog up from the shower!!!
Review 2:I come from an American customer service and hospitality background so I may be a little more judgmental. Desk Associates were helpful and extremely knowledgeable. However, they seemed cold and not real warm and inviting. They did their job, they smiled, they did not appear to love their job or be extremely happy. Valet attendants were very helpful and friendly. At 3am the fire alarm went off waking me from much needed good night sleep. Then it continued to go off. I called the desk, it was an error and they were there to fix it. The problem was resolved quickly and it was no ones fault...but it was frustrating and interrupted a much needed good nights sleep after traveling for three weeks. My room was beautiful, clean and comfortable. My only regret is this was a quick overnight stay and I wish I could have enjoyed Brisbane city and the room a little longer.
Review 3:View, room, bathroom, custom greeting on TV, location and easy affordable taxi to city and airport.
Review 4:One of those gems you find where everything is perfect - the quality fittings - the staff - the food - the location - probably the most remarkable view of Brisbane River and Cityscape.
Review 5:Great room/views, and love the Restaurant and Room Service. Undercover parking is a big plus and being located close to Newstead House, Breakfast Creek Hotel, Portside and Racecourse Rd.
Review 6:- The air-conditioner didn't really cool us in the bed, as the it was aimed above the bed and tended to cool the remainder of the room instead - No extractor fan in the bathroom
Review 7:- Easy access to this hotel (we came from Grafton, NSW) - Walking distance to the Breaky Creek Hotel - Easy access to the Gateway Motorway
Review 8:Noise from traffic. Bed was not a King which was expected given the room type/size. Shower water pressure was dreadful.
Review 9:View was great as we stayed in a riverview room # 509 which was a corner room. Room was good size.
Review 10:Only slight negative would be older pool area, if you want to swim. But still spacious area with large pool.
Review 11:Room incl bathroom was near new, good aircon, free parking & baby cot. Nice view.
Review 12:The expensive breakfast! Too far from water taxis, other restaurants
Review 13:The reception staff was very friendly and helpful Also enjoyed the Art Auction The race track and fruit bats were cool!
Review 14:Although the quality of breakfast buffet was excellent , I felt that it was a little expensive .
Review 15:The room was lovely and quiet . The bed was very comfortable .
Review 16:The Motel is hard to find for the first time. with the name View on it. There is no street number to punch into a Navman Just Kingsford Smith Dr and Hunt St. Trying to find the motel on my phone it cam up with new prices which were a lot cheaper on the day....
Review 17:Staff were great and the facilities were great
Review 18:If a Ferry stop had been just a bit nearer, it would have been a perfect stay - but 15-20 mins walk in 30+C heat was tough going. Pool area was a little bit tired and overlooked by a building site on opposite side of road, so not particularly restful. Spa and concrete deck could both do with some maintenance. Would still recommend highly though.
Review 19:Reception staff were excellent (Margaret and Martin). Rooms were roomy and comfortable. Would definitely stay again.
Review 20:Yes the location and facilities were good but I would never stay again at this hotel as there were 2 staff members who were so rude that my stay was ruined.
Review 21:It was not what was advertised. The room I booked was a corner room with huge windows on 2 sides. What I got was a dark room with a window on one end. When I brought it to the attention of the staff that I thought I had been given a different room to what I booked, instead of being accountable for the false advertising, they simple said that the website photo has been wrong for a long time.
Review 22:Beautiful hotel. Exceptionally clean & great quality furnishings.
Review 23:Room next to elevator had slight noise however not annoying. Water pressure in shower was low however sufficient. Breakfast too expensive at $36 per adult for full buffett.
Review 24:Clean & spacious room with comfortable bed. Great natural light with abundant windows. Cleaning staff were very courteous and prompt. Front desk was fantastic during check in & out.
Review 25:only negative is,not keen on new wallpaper.A bit too much on all walls.Maybe a feature wall would be enough. Not a calming effect after long travels.
Review 26:always stay at River view when travelling.Close to airport.Excellent staff, furniture, fittings with great views every time we stay.
Review 27:Just a minor issue with ease of using things like remote TV controller Batteries were ok but the unit was just non responsive in an ad hoc manner
Review 28:Location and view was great
Review 29:The location with regards to the City cat docks, bit of a shock.
Review 30:super helpful staff. Any questions were answered and promptly followed up with tips or further advice aswell.
Review 31:The restaurant - My wife had a medium steak the first night, only ate half of it as it was not cooked at all, there was a small portion cooked around the edges, the inside was red, the waitress upon collecting noticed and said "hmm steak was'nt cooked eh ! ? I'll let chef know but nothing happened. The 2nd night we both had steaks, we mentioned that we wanted medium steaks but cooked through, not like my wife's from previous night. We received 2 x tough steaks, we feel were "nuked" then fried in pan, the waitress assured us that the chef would not do that but we were offered a tea or coffee as compensation, we declined as my wife doesn't drink either. Wasn't worth the effort to complain. We were not looking for a freebie, but a more heartfelt apology was in order. Hotel itself was fantastic, staff very pleasant and helpful, but to be honest you would be better to pop up to the Brekkie Creek Hotel and order a mediocre meal from there unless you cabbed it into the city The restaurant itself was quite pleasant if the meal we chose was cooked to our liking - lovely setting etc. but use only as a last resort
Review 32:We liked the decor of the hotel, our son stayed week previous and recommended to us The reception staff were excellent
Review 33:The underground carpark has only one entrance. This was a bit difficult.
Review 34:It was located close to where I had to go, was clean and had very friendly helpful staff
Review 35:$300/night but no breakfast included and $12 for a movie on TV on top of that...it's a bit outrageous :( Fire alarm went off for 25 mins during the night and no mention of it by staff when I checked out the next day...an 'I'm sorry if that inconvenienced you' statement of acknowledgement goes a long way sometimes...I thought this was really poor.
Review 36:Room facilities were nice and bed was comfortable.
Review 37:Nothing!
Review 38:The cleanliness was perfect. The staff knew exactly what they were doing. Breakfast was really good. Location was very good. Room very comfortable.
Review 39:None at all
Review 40:Practically everything. The staff was excellent and the cleanliness of the room and the hotel overall, was very good as well. Nothing to complain about it.
Review 41:No bad experience but as there was no breakfast menu (dine in) in the room I wasn't aware they did breakfast until I was checking out.
Review 42:Very courteous and informative team. Room was great. Walking distance to good pubs, bars and breweries in Newstead and the Container Markets in the other direction at the Wharf. Good to see they support local business and have Newstead beers in their mini bar too. Giant swimming pool too.
Review 43:Had to wait a while in the restaurant for our food although it was very quiet. Food was lovely when it came.
Review 44:Lovely location and a beautiful room. Lots of space.
Review 45:The bathroom could do with an exhaust fan when showering as it does get very fogged up.
Review 46:As the hotel as been recently updated, no expense has been spared, it looks very high end. The room was fabulous and bed so comfortable.
Review 47:When not given the room as shown in the picture on our booking, staff were very accommodating and moved us to the room I expected, with good grace and humour. The view was excellent. All service staff were excellent. Porter, room service, front desk, wait staff in the restaurant. The room was well laid out, and the arm chairs were a nice touch. Later check out was appreciated.
Review 48:We love the location.. Take a stroll along the river. Night at the trotts followed by a breaky creek meal. Then a morning city cat ride to newfarm pk for breaky. What more could you ask for
Review 49:Nothing.
Review 50:The staff were fabulous, friendly and helpful without being intrusive. The room was absolutely gorgeous, just what I needed after a long few days. Location was great for getting to the airport quickly the next morning.
Review 51:Hot water took a quite while to warm up.
Review 52:Location - looking out across the river to the city, beautifully appointed room, 24 hour room service, easy access to the airport and highway north.
Review 53:Bed was great - very comfy. Lovely view of the river. Given a high level room. Very helpful staff. Quiet rooms, even though the highway is very close. I am usually a terrible sleeper when not in my own home, but I slept well here!
Review 54:There was nothing not to like, beautiful room had a view and it was a short walk to the breaky creek hotel.. Definitely going back and want the same room.
Review 55:All was good.
Review 56:Frendly staff clean conformable and spacious room. Also it was appreciated we were permitted to leave our car there for a couple of hours after checkout.
Review 57:Nil
Review 58:Stayed here as early start to meet family at airport and location was excellent for this. Staff friendly and relaxed restaurant onsite with delicious meals.
Review 59:Full breakfast super expensive for a family/couple. Had to grab the toast and coffee, which was reasonable. But couldn't justify the full breakfast even for one morning due to the expense!
Review 60:Staff were great. Room was big. Hotel was super clean, sophisticated and we loved it.
Review 61:I felt the cost of meals was in some cases expensive and overpriced and the portion size for the only evening meal I had there was not adequate
Review 62:The location was excellent for my business dealings and I would recommend it to anybody visiting Brisbane
Review 63:I cant believe how this was a such a good hotel, great rooms, good food, and close to airport. My first time here, but I will only come back to this hotel in the future
Review 64:The Breakfast was very expensive considering what we had. Cost were not given. Asked to sign the form[which I did]this did not have the cost on, only finding out $64 being charged for Breakfast.
Review 65:The rooms were very comfortable
Review 66:Functions Team were outstanding and retreating to Guest Room after a huge day was sublime. The 7th floor room faced west. Clean lines. View of the Brisbane River to the left and the greenery of Albion Park Raceway was lovely. Concierge and reception staff were very thoughtful, walking a female colleague out to her car late in the evening after the event. Highly recommend the venue and the function amenities.
Review 67:Front office staff member was very curt and requested payment up front which has never been asked for the last 3 times I have stayed there.
Review 68:The facilities are clean and comfortable. The lovely gentleman Kenny that came to the room and tried to fix FoxSports2 reception in my room as I wanted to watch the rugby, thank you.
Review 69:The bed was grim. So uncomfortable. We were fortunately only booked in for one night, in transit for a cruise. We really needed a good nights sleep, but instead, neither of us slept well. I woke up at one point thinking I was already at sea. The pool was a disgrace. It was green and looked slimy. Awful.
Review 70:Pleasant staff
Review 71:Staff were very welcoming and we found we had been upgraded to a high floor River View room without having to ask. Great initial impression! Lovely décor throughout the hotel and our room was beautiful. We requested an extension of our stay and this was handled effortlessly. Highly recommend this hotel if you want to be on the river but not in the heart of the CBD.
Review 72:We had dinner at the hotel restaurant soft shell crab...to die for...and for dessert we shared a passion fruit and white chocolate cheese cake it was so good we ordered another...fantastic dinner...thank you
Review 73:Quite expensive breakfast and at that rate you wouldn't think they'd charge extra for a cappuccino. Pool area is a cross the drive way and not really inviting.
Review 74:Close to the airport Nice and comfortable rooms. Good quality food in the restaurant at great value
Review 75:We liked the welcoming staff as soon as we arrived. The personal touches that are not often found in a hotel. We were impressed with the 5 - 6p.m. hour where drinks and nibbles were served. Well done. A hotel +
Review 76:Bed rather soft for us but that is personal taste.
Review 77:Convenience of location for a visit to Hamilton show ground to see Cirque Du Soleil. Beautifully clean. Well stocked mini bar. Good choice of toiletries. Although booked a garden view room could see the beautiful Brisbane River from the window.
Review 78:The young man at the counter was untiring in his efforts to solve my travel problems...even at 3 am! Brilliant service thank you. This is a beautiful hotel.
Review 79:On checking in 28.3.15 young girl at checkin was rude and condescending, making us feel unwelcome and not wanting to stay.
Review 80:When checking out on Sun 29.3.15 an older man and women where on staff and so delightful and friendly.
Review 81:It's a distance from the CDB, so prepare for that and it's a difficult hotel to drive into as the road is basically a highway with a sharp, dangerous turn into it. So, for the nervous, out-of-town driver, or visitors, buckle yourself in ! Finally, a room next to the elevator shaft really annoys me but the ambivalence of the staff to do something about it annoys me even more; this is often the risk of sing sites like Booking.com; it appears the hotels regard this as 'give them the left overs', 'cause that's what they've paid for ! Oh, one last thing; a river view ? Yeah right !
Review 82:The concierge is excellent - the other reception staff, well, underwhelming for what is billed as a 4-star property !
Review 83:Poor service, staff were not attentive to my needs as it was my girlfriends birthday i asked if they would arrange something special for her the rude staff replied with "what do you mean" once i explained she told me i had not paid enough to receive anything extra and that i would need to pay more...obviously i was willing to pay any amount to impress my gf. I was made to feel poor and that my needs were a hassle. The photography of the hotel is amazing but in all honesty the place is run down and just plain old. The air conditioner would not turn off at all which in result i now have a cold, no outdoor furniture whatsoever the only highlight was the lovely chef and staff at breakfast. The bartender though lovely had no understanding of cocktails and i dare say drank the worst dirty Martini in my life. All in all no value for money here, inconvenient location and moody staff members. Bad stay away.
Review 84:Not a bad experience however we were looking forward to swimming in the pool bottom of the pool was covered in dirt. very misleading by the pics on your website very unimpressed
Review 85:We enjoyed everything.
Review 86:Staff were very helpful and extremely polite. Decor of entire hotel was beautiful, linen was lovely. Restaurant food was delicious. Couldn't fault anything.
Review 87:Morning staff not as nice as day/evening staff. They were less helpful than what we arrived to.
Review 88:Lovely room - perfect for us and our 2 year old. Porter staff (day/night) were really nice as was concierge. View of river and seeing our cruise ship was exciting...
Review 89:Nothing really except pillow menu wasn't very good and we ordered two but one came. And kettle didn't work. The pool area could be just as great as the hotel with a Reno as it would be nice to have an outdoor area for a swim or evening drink if it had a bar too.
Review 90:Stylish clean new, great design
Review 91:The bar fridge door was broken. The tv remote control didn't work as battery was missing. Cloudy bay wine costs $35 to buy in restaurant it was $70 which is a rip off. No fan in bathroom and mirrors fog up. No light in closet
Review 92:Location, comfort, amenities
Review 93:The blind in the bathroom needs cleaning, it is extremely dusty. The pool needs to be upgraded, very old and isn't inviting. The airconditioning is very noisy.
Review 94:The room was comfortable and the breakfast was lovely.
Review 95:bed was a bit small (wrongly assumed 'large double' was queen size) and doubt room was 36 sq metres as advertised
Review 96:nice outlook, convenient location, very friendly helpful staff
Review 97:Room service menu was great, but food was a bit bland. Had to walk through the lobby and across front entrance to get to pool. We got a deal for $190 a night (incl breakfast), which was great value. But not worth $450 night which is supposedly full price.
Review 98:Stayed here for 2 nights and had a great time! Loved the pool and spa, buffet breakfast was very good, nice and quiet room, very friendly staff (although the concierge was a bit weird, he wouldn't say hi back or anything when you spoke to him). Loved the pillow menu! Try it!
Review 99:We didn't find anything wrong at all.
Review 100:IN a great area so close to the river walking to River Cat and also walking distance to Hotel. Lovely swimming pool and spa .Straf were so helpful . Loved there happy Hour. We will be happy to go back again and maybe stay longer.
Review 101:The area by the pool wasn't as nice as expected. Could do with a little make over, more sun beds and a little sweep and clean up. Pool itself and just next to it was still awesome.
Review 102:Super friendly and helpful staff all over. Double room perfect for two and very nicely decorated. Breakfast buffe deffo worth the extra 20 dollars pp. We were very pleased.
Review 103:Pool was full of debris, airconditioner was very noisy, price of a bottle of wine at dinner over the top.
Review 104:Rooms were comfy, food in the restaurant was excellent.staff very friendly
Review 105:The restaurant
Review 106:Had a good stay exept for the restaurant staff were great food was very poor when we complained the chef could not care less we didn't eat out ontray or main paid our money and had take away apart from that is was very nice I would recommend the hotel just don't eat there
Review 107:A great surprise - comfy bed - lots of space - and right across the road from a beautiful park for walking
Review 108:Personal touches like bowls of fruit at lift and in corridors Newspaper waiting outside door in am
Review 109:Friendly staff,hassle free check-in,good bed.
Review 110:The staff were excellent and went out their way to accommodate. The food and dining staff were wonderful.
Review 111:Location is not that good as living in CBD for a tourist. convenient to go to airport but will prefer to stay in cbd next time.
Review 112:Lack of underground parking for all cars. Hot water jug in the room simply would not operate. Twice now.
Review 113:Comfortable feeling of foyer.
Review 114:Nothing to complain about
Review 115:Parking facilities, restaurant, staff very friendly and obliging
Review 116:Close to road
Review 117:The decor, and facilities clse to the river.
Review 118:Room was modern with nice decor. Bathroom was spacious with big shower. Great view of city and river.
Review 119:double bed too small for deluxe accommodation. Should be bigger.
Review 120:Only 1 lift working. Not enough coffee supplied, had to ask for more.
Review 121:Excellent view. Good check in/out times
Review 122:Credit card surcharge
Review 123:The separate bedroom was really nice. The complimentary fruit in foyers.
Review 124:Everything was great, staff, room, views, position, close to races and restaraunts.
