Reviews for Eidfjord Fjell & Fjord Hotel

Review 1:The extra paid for fjord view probably isn't worth it as its not right on the edge of the fjord.

Review 2:The whole hotel was very nice and well decorated. Staff were very friendly and the free breakfast is perfect!

Review 3:None that I can think of.

Review 4:The location was perfect for me. The food was also very good. My favorite was the mountain stream trout. Very nice common spaces for relaxing, having a drink and enjoying the view.

Review 5:The hotel is a bit worn-out, without a perfume-smell in the reception which I suspect is to hide the older odour of cigarettes.

Review 6:Surroundings, breakfast.

Review 7:WLAN wasn't really usable. Bathroom needs a bit refreshing.

Review 8:Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice living room and terrace with a wonderful view over the fjord. Delicious breakfast & dinner. Charming ambiente. Excellent view from the room.

Review 9:One special old landy with brown teeth has been extremly unfriendly!!! The rest of the staff was very polite and helpfull but they should fire the old and grumpy one...

Review 10:Rooms are a bit aged and would benefit from refurbishment, but this could be due to the fact that we were staying in a room for pets (but still paid the same amount as for more spacious room). The menu in the restaurant has limited choices, so if you stay longer than two days you will have to dine out or eat the same dinner. But the food was delicious.

Review 11:I liked the location and the fact that the hotel accepts pets. Breakfast was very good and definitely do recommend to visit the restaurant for a dinner.

Review 12:Norway is expensive, but the location made it worthwhile

Review 13:The location was incredible, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly and it had a really nice relaxed feel to the whole place

Review 14:It was perfect. We stayed just for one night. Eidfjord is a must if you are into scenic and peaceful places. You must visit (we drove) Granvin (close to Ulvic). It was the highlight of our 9 days in Norway. Like heaven.

Review 15:The staff was outstanding! Best service I received on my whole trip! Picturesque town in a beautiful setting. Not much to do other than kayaking, hiking, or touring, but if you want to relax in a quiet atmosphere, this is the place. I will definitely stay here again!

Review 16:Beautiful views from the room, sitting area, dining room and outdoor terrace. Fresh tea and coffee all day, free for guests. No bus tours and with only 28 roooms it made for a quiet and relaxing stay. Staff were all very helpful and informative but not intrusive. Provided hot and cold food for breakfast. Pretty good selection on offer. Would definitely stay there again.

Review 17:The rooms are very old fashioned Breakfast is limited, not much choice Very high price for what you get

Review 18:Service was very good Good restaurant Nice lounge area

Review 19:Absolutely nothing.

Review 20:the hotel was great, in fabulous setting. We were there for the Norseman and the staff were incredibly helpful and exceeded all expectations.

Review 21:The 'Art' room, in which we stayed, does not have darkening curtains, therefore it is completely lit by ~5:00 AM.

Review 22:Location, view towards fjord, nature walks

Review 23:the guest rooms are shabby and very small. A serious renovation is required there.

Review 24:The public areas are designed beautifully, especially the dining room with its glass ceiling overlooking the fjord. The breakfasts and dinners were superb.

Review 25:Nothing - Perfect Hotel.

Review 26:Awesome location, views from lounge, restaurant and rooms is just stunning. Clean and comfortable rooms. Lovely lounge, free tea & coffee on tap 24hrs a day. Cracking restaurant. Friendly and helpful staff who spoke perfect English and had great advice on what to do locally. Great breakfast.

Review 27:Pink plastic children's outdoor furniture outside my window spoiled the beautiful view

Review 28:Very comfortable bed, beautiful lounge and restaurant overlooking the fjord, very helpful and friendly staff

Review 29:Meals, both breakfast which was good and plentiful, and we had a great dinner in the restaurant. The staff was very friendly and helpful. On check in the staff gave us a map and suggestions of things to see and do, and also what to not do which was very helpful.

Review 30:There was no soap dish in a shower room. However, soon after we requested it, they provided an automatic soap dispenser quickly.

Review 31:A tranquilizing view from a guest room A clean, well maintained a public space Breakfast was good.

Review 32:We can't fault this small hotel, the owner and her staff are wonderful, telling us the best places to visit and how to get to them. They all had time to talk to the guests and made everyone very welcome. The lounge and dining room overlooking the fjord are beautifully decorated and comfortable with great views, the food is excellent, especially the fresh Mackerel caught in the fjord. We had 3 days here and wished we had booked more but we will return.

Review 33:Front of house staff were very helpful. Above all the chef Rene spent his day off taking us to Ulvik and back in his boat! Straightforward excellent food. The public sitting areas were stylish but also homely, and we loved the candle-light.

Review 34:The hotel has very rigid check in times. We had to rush to arrive before 7pm, because we could not get in touch by phone. Our mobile did not work in Norway. There was only a too expensive dinner buffet, and no choice of food for dinner, although we expected a very good restaurant there (accordimg to promotional literature)

Review 35:The location and the surroundings are beautiful.

Review 36:The room for 3 person is too small and the extra bed is'nt comfort. Very expensive rate.

Review 37:Nice lobby and restaurant with a magnificent view. Good breakfast.

Review 38:Our "mountain view" room actually looked out onto a backyard of the hotel (the Parking Lot).

Review 39:The staff are very helpful. The rooms are simple but clean. Excellent view fron the lounge and dinning areas.

Review 40:This place was wonderful; the pictures on the Booking.com website do not do it full justice. We arrived booked for two nights, but had some free nights after that, and within ten minutes of our arrival we changed our booking to three nights. In addition to the fantastic view (especially when the cruise ships aren't blocking that view), the manager and all of the staff are extremely helpful and accommodating. The hotel has a cozy and inviting atmosphere. We really enjoyed our conversations with all of the staff members over the three days. One waitress was so sweet -- she even made copies with information about some of her favorite hikes in the area and provided them to us. In addition, the hotel is kid and family-friendly, which we appreciated even though we were not traveling with children. It was just fun to be around the families. We used this spot as a launch pad for hiking in Hardangervidda and kayaking in the nearby lake. We had rented a car for this portion of our month-long trip, which is necessary if you want the flexibility of getting up and about in the national park. Eidfjord does not have a lot of shopping opportunities, but that's not the primary reason to stay here anyway -- it's for the beautiful fjord and the recreation close by. The food at the hotel was also excellent -- we never felt the need to go anywhere else. Yep, it's a little pricey -- but what isn't pricey in Norway?

Review 41:WiFi only in lobby Parking can be tight Most darts broken

Review 42:Rooms clean and efficient Staff very nice staff Decent breakfast selection Nice game room with pool and darts

Review 43:Beautiful location, very helpful staff! The hotel was small and quaint, felt like home! Great food and the most amazing views! Wish we'd stayed another night!

Review 44:The price was a bit high for a limited facility they have.

Review 45:the staff who came from poland (i forgot her name) was very friendly and helpfull.

Review 46:Good location, comfortable clean room, welcome and helpful staff.

Review 47:The hotel is clean and very cozy.

Review 48:Rooms need a bit of updating. No bath mats or rug in the room.

Review 49:Food is fantastic. Friendly and helpful service. Cant beat the location.

Review 50:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The dinner and breakfast were good. By Norwegian standards the hotel felt modern and looked after.

Review 51:The lounge was comfortable for a small group to gather and plan, or just relax before a meal.

Review 52:So expensive.

Review 53:Nice location, nice view from the hotel.

Review 54:Nothing really

Review 55:Location was beautiful and staff very welcoming and thoughtful.

Review 85:It's located on a hill, have to push luggage up the slope. Very tiring.

Review 86:Good fjord view & good wifi.

Review 87:Everything.

Review 88:Wonderful view over Eidfjord and very cosy interior. We will come back.

Review 89:can not think of any

Review 90:Lovely breakfast, great view of the Fjord. My parents loved the hotel very much.

Review 91:Unuseable WiFi.

Review 92:Beautifull view excellent food

Review 93:business small room dinner buffet-not tasty low breakfast standard

Review 94:wifi

Review 95:The hotel is in great location with view over fjords, breakfast is very good and filling, and the staff are very helpful.

Review 96:The warm welcome and enthusiastic provision of local information. Staff went out of their way to be accommodating including moving an extra table out on to the terrace for us and very efficient service. Would love to come back and stay a bit longer to see the area.

Review 97:Great atmosphere, very friendly staff, rooms basic but comfortable but lounge and dinning areas excellent! Would stay again and recommend to family and friends

Review 98:The shower was a bit tricky, switching from cold to hot.

Review 99:Amazing service from the friendly staff. We arrived late in the evening, and the restaurant was technically closed, but the chef made us food anyways, and it was delicious. You feel like you are home, just with better service and amazing views!

Review 100:The advertised "mountain view" actually looked out onto abackyard of the house behind the hotel. The yard was full of toys, yardart and stuff that was not quite the "mountain view" that weexpected. The price paid for the room was pretty steep for what we got.

Review 101:Nice breakfast buffet.

Review 102:The sofa-bed in triple room is really uncomfortable and tiny.

Review 103:The airy diningroom and comfortable livingroom facing the fjord. Great breakfast buffet.

Review 104:Free Tea and coffee whenever you wanted. All the staff were so lovely and friendly and would do anything they could to help you. Fabulous views of the fjord. The dining and lounge area were well thought out and nicely decorated, again with the most beautiful view.

Review 105:The place is absolutely special. If you ever need to stay in Eidfjord this should be your number one destination. Friendly staff, comfortable lounge with great view of the fjord, lovely rooms, and much more - all these make this place very different from any other Fjord hotel in Norway I have ever seen (and I have seen some).

Review 106:Swedish staff very helpful and friendly. Fjord view room nice. A little above a little town with nice staff, clean simple rooms, good (this is Norway so be careful of prices) food.

Review 107:Right by the marina and good views. Great location for over night stay after coming through hardangar vidda and before travelling on to Odda and Sand area.

Review 108:The feeling of the room is rather hostel then a hotel. The shower for example uses a push button similar yo beaches (auto off after few seconds and requires re-pushing it)

Review 109:The stuff was extremely pleasant and really willing to assist and recommend. The location is just by the ferry to Stavanger which is the path to Bergen.
