Reviews for Book Tekapo Holiday Homes

Review 1:1. The lady was friendly in the beginning, led us to the house (on the other side of the town) and shown us around. But all of the sudden, she blamed us mis-claimed the number of occupants. After counted only 5 of us just behind her (we booked for 5), then she said they only regarded aged up to 7 as child and we should pay more(she did us a "favour" not ask us to pay the extra). We booked the house through Booking.com, clearly indicated we are group of 5, including 3 adults with 2 children aged 16 and 14, and booking.com calculated the rate accordingly. I am very unhappy to be doubted of my honesty. 2. the metal bunk bed (double bottom and single top) was not comfortable to sleep 3, as it was easy to create noise. 3. Big glass door was great for the view, but one side do not has a curtain, lack of privacy.

Review 2:New house, big decking

Review 3:Stayed in the 2 bed Nordic escape apartment which was perfect for all our needs. Really spacious, comfortable and clean. Walking distance to the restaurants and shops. Had brilliant facilities (e.g. Our own washing machine), excellent wifi and really good value for money.

Review 4:The uncomfortable feeling on reading the rules keeping the house clean and reducing the usage on everything, anything not satisfied the manager will occur penalty charges. We have to buy tissue ourselves and use one towel for the whole family each day.

Review 5:Spacious rooms, living area and kitchen.

Review 6:There is only one shower which might be an issue if the house is full (sleeps 7 but we were 4).

Review 7:Nice house, great views, very comfortable, friendly staff

Review 8:We arrived late and there is an envelope with instruction to get to the house and keys pasted on the door We do fell insecure if somebody were to remove the envelope as we would have problem checking in and need to spent time locating the contact person for help. Maybe this system could be improved further

Review 9:The living room and kitchen are really spacious. We used the kitchen and realised a lot of cooking stuffs which other travellors might have left because its end of their holiday trip and its a waste to throw away edible things. Its helpful to be able to make use of the pepper for seasoning as we did not buy. In the end, we also leave some sauces and seasoning so others could use. Suggest owners could check once in while whether items in pantry is within expiry date. Was happy BBQ is provided. But one of them is not working. So we are left with one which is workable. In the end strong wind at Tekapo makes it not usable as the fire is extinguish once lighted.

Review 10:Kitchen cabinet edges coming off, inside of washer/dryer was in desperate need of cleaning

Review 11:View was fantastic, modern, open plan living, loved that the tv was downstairs. Great space for all 6 of us!

Review 12:1. they do not publish exact address of facility so you can't plan properly beforehand. 2. the website never told us that the facility is not lake facing even when the associated pic showed beautiful lake view. 3. It was the costliest facility during my entire south Island trip (booked 6 months in advance).

Review 13:Great independent facility for family. Staff was nice to interact

Review 14:Nothing bad. Others might be concerned there is still developement happening in neighbouring sections and finishing of that section but it wasn't an issure for us. Everything had been left tidy and workers were not in really early.

Review 15:Great efficent service from Tekapo holiday homes plus a very nice house with a great view and everything you need for a relaxed stay

Review 16:The building work going on around us - not noisy but unsightly!

Review 17:Loved the location - fantastic views. The house was well provisioned great facilities such as washing machine and dishwasher. Great to have such a huge apartment all to ourselves. Would definitely recommend. Very good value for money.

Review 18:Nothing at all - all the instructions were clear and precise, easy to follow.

Review 19:Loved the convenient location on Lake Tekapo, the home was clean and comfortable, and the VIEW! If we had the chance, we would have cancelled a few days of our trip at other locations to stay for a few more days just to try out the BBQ, play the supplied boardgames, and rent a few videos for the big TV in the TV room.

Review 20:They charged us double for extra children because we booked through booking.com Normal rate for extra child is $10 per night but because we reserve through booking.com, we had to pay $20 per child per night

Review 21:Poor attitude staff, not proactive in handling the situation. The place is old, not really maintained, not in-line with photo on the page, and there was a video tape playing with flashing screen on Tv when we arrived ! We asked for a switch or refund, but turned down by the in charge staff with don't give a sxxt attitude.

Review 22:None

Review 23:No duty manager in the call. We arrived late and had no hot water in the villa. Couldn't reach anyone and nobody bothered to call us in the morning. We had to call again to request someone to come and fix the hot water. There was trucks of earth all morning working in front of the villa. Definitely not worth the money!

Review 24:Great new house with nice view on the lake

Review 25:No dryer was a disappointment. Its a self service style so pack up the house before check out.

Review 26:Very comfortable house, games cupboard full of different types of game was very brilliant idea.

Review 27:None.

Review 28:-Strategic location based on the accommodation given (near to cafes and restaurants). -Fully equipped with amenities (including bbq facility). Spacious. -Staff was really helpful and friendly. -Wireless was available (although it was mentioned not available) - which was a plus point! Too bad we were only staying there for one night - will definitely book this place again in the future.

Review 29:Only one thing, there was no introductions how to use the garage. I couldn't open the garage door.

Review 30:Friendly staff, huge rooms has fully equipments. Very good for a family holiday.

Review 31:Horrible! The house was absolutely NOT clean. There was so much dust in the air and in every corner of the house. Dead insects in the citche and in the livingroom. Black hairs in the bathroom and in the Cutlery box. Stains on every blanket. Very Old and musty house "Araki". The Lady at the reception did not even let me talk to the End as I reported what was wrong. She did not want to hear it and gave us no compansation für anything. So unfriendly!!!

Review 32:Lake Pukaki...

Review 33:Two toilets and two bathrooms are not sufficient for big group during peak hour. Huge difference in temperature at upper and lower floors, especially in the morning. But these are not an issue to us.

Review 34:A cosy house that can accommodate big group of travelers. We had a great time with several families staying together. Fully equipped kitchen.

Review 35:None!

Review 36:It was an excellent home with stunning views! We had a oldest grandad aged 84 who loved the fireplace which was super homey, warm and lovely! The ladies in the group especially loved the kitchen and it spectacular view of the lake! We had an amazing stay nonetheless, 10/10!

Review 37:This is for one bedroom house 'Nomads'. There is no longer a lake view as there is a house being built blocking it. If you are booking Nomads for the view, find another accommodation. Also as it is a holiday home, it is not serviced.

Review 38:This is for one bedroom house 'Nomads' Very well equipped and clean. Nice fire place. You can sit out on the porch to gaze the stars at night.

Review 39:No wifi and bunk bed in one of the rooms! If I noticed there was no wifi in the apartment and the twin beds were actually a bunk bed, I would definitely choose another one!

Review 40:Tekapo early summer does not seem to be warm at all. More heating would be appropriate. Shower knob was difficult to operate. The heat indicator was out of mark. (Cold=hot, hot=cold). But this was small matter. We enjoyed our stay.

Review 41:The house is beautiful.

Review 42:As with all low pressure showers you have to cut out as many restrictions in the plumbing as possible. To insure the best flow of water out of the shower head. My advise is take out the existing set up and replace with a low pressure shower rose. Or just change to a mains pressure hot water cylinder.

Review 43:Town was within walking distance and a great home feeling. I liked you could park your vehicle under cover.

Review 44:Super friendly services from Adele, Toni & other lady. Views; Clean & tidy; Wifi; good photo locations; Restaurants (especially MacKenzie's Bar & Grill - The Stone Grill, Japanese Kohan Restaurant)

Review 45:I stayed in Ariki- nce house, but heating was difficult to set up. Nevertheless was very spacious, staff were very friendly

Review 46:Lake Tepako is surreal, nicest location

Review 47:The house is very cosy. And the staff have preheat the house we arrived at the house. We did not get to meet the staff because of our late arrived. But she sounds very nice on the phone. The is the best stay over the 7 nights holiday.

Review 48:The only negative was the bed, warm and nice linen, but I got a bad back from the dip in my side. We had two nights and at our next stay, my back improved with that bed. Despite that we had a lovely time and I may be used to a firmer bed which explained the problem. My husband slept very well!

Review 49:We liked the beautiful interiors and comfort, the well stocked kitchen, lovely bathroom, roomy bedroom and massive fireplace. Had trouble with the TV and the manager came around immediately to set us right and was immensely cheerful! A delightful, romantic cottage.

Review 50:only one bath room, we have to share it. one bedroom is inside the other, saying you have to get your room throughing others

Review 51:a lovely 2 floor house, very clean and comfortable room.

Review 52:the floors were creeking which is so annoying, we couldnt have a good sleep coz of the loud creeking sounds when someone walks on the upper level i thought the kitchen was renovated but not. only the ovens were new..there was no dishwasher. and all the kitchenware were too heavy especially the plates and mugs.. but fair enough if they're trying to keep the old school ambiance

Review 53:nice location, just near the town centre. The house was pretty much cozy

Review 54:Hot water was depleted after about a 10 min shower. Stove did not work (although we were fine without it and didn't let property management know until we left, it was probably something quite minor like a tripped breaker).

Review 55:Good size, comfortable bed's and lounge, modern kitchen, Very close to shops and lake, great water pressure.

Review 56:We stayed in a 2 bedroom's house which is stylishly furnished. Very cozy and with excellent view. Staff were very friendly and very helpful! Definitely will stay here if we come to Tekapo Lake again!

Review 57:Requested to wash all dishes while they do not provide kitchen sink and need to wash in toilet sink . Very inconvenient and inappropriate . Should consider to provide outdoor sink

Review 58:Clean and warm perfect for winter

Review 59:We as guests would not expect to be welcomed with conditions in the room (such as keeping the place clean and tidy, all vessels to be cleaned). We would expect your cleaners to do the job between check out and next check in time gap.

Review 60:would have been better if the electric blankets were all working - was very snowy and cold outside so would have made house ideal

Review 61:The location was fantastic, nice and welcoming with the heat pump/heaters on when we arrived

Review 62:No soap for the shower. No brush or scrubber to clean pots and pans or bbq. No wardrobe or any hooks to hang coats etc. Very slow element so had to use bbq to cook. No coffee table. No curtain over window overlooking bed.

Review 63:Very clean.

Review 64:Out of order washing machine (In sign only as we found out later), Couple of other minor maintenance issues-running tap etc

Review 65:Location, warmth, modern house.

Review 66:We didn't get the modern looking house as shown in the webpage, and there was no view at all, very disappointed with this. Heaters were not enough for the entire big house !

Review 67:kitchen facilities are very complete, it's an advantage if you are cooking

Review 68:Nothing. FYI, if it gets chilly, you have to use the fireplace to keep warm in the living area. No heater in bedrooms.

Review 69:Beautiful home! Great views and living area!

Review 70:The all in one washer/dryer - the dryer was not very effective

Review 71:Great having a separate media room away from main living. Lovely and open plan kitchen, dining and living.

Review 72:Nothing

Review 73:We did not make any booking for this city. When we arrived all hotels seems to be fully booked. We have small child and it's getting late. The next city will take at least 1 hour drive. We booked via booking.com and within 10 minute we arrived at the holiday home. The receptionist sort out our booking and we got our house. The house was clean , big kitchen and a lot of game for kid to play. This place is best for stars watching.

Review 74:the pool room with single beds is the most freezing cold on the day we stay as the heater from living room didn't reach that room or the other 2 rooms.

Review 75:This property is like your home moved to Lake Tekapo as it provide extensive kitchen equipment & the owner is very kind to let us use condiments for cooking including cooking oil. Rice cooker is also available to use. Very close to church of good shepherd building which has stunning views. Close to the shops if you drive. Lots of activities that we end up skipping cod we ran out of time. The house has pool room with 3 single beds but no heater.

Review 76:It is almost all good except for there missed some kitchen utensils.

Review 77:The location of the cottage is different from what you find at booking.com. Book Tekapo Holiday Homes is a booking agent who will take you to exact venue in town. This Alpha cottage locates in a quite block, but close to town centre. I am impressive by the cleanness and wifi status.

Review 78:The house itself is a bit dated (my partner thought it 'smelled like the 1970s) and the fury critters get a little bit noisy in the roof cavity in the dead of night. It took us a while to figure out the shower and the water pressure is terrible (but the bath is nice!)

Review 79:Silver birch is very close to the church and great for rambling along the lake shore. It's only about a 5 minute walk up to town. The deck is nice when the sun is out, and the couches are comfy. The kitchen is well-equipped with lots of utensils and pots/pans.

Review 80:We absolutely loved everything about this house! It was so spacious, beautiful, comfortable, relaxing and its coziness made it very difficult for us to leave it! Its location was also perfect! Can't wait to be back one day soon!!!

Review 81:Whilst the lodge is not advertised as having cooking facilities- there is no sink and you have to wash your pots in the sink in the toilet area.

Review 82:Modern clean facilities

Review 83:No wifi.

Review 84:We booked a 4 bed room house but it turns out we got a 5 bed room new facility. We are a group of 4 people so this is really spacious. Very tidy and clean house.

Review 85:possibly due to the lateness of the evening, the property was hard to find as it was tucked away. We didn't realize that the entrance was tucked away as well off the adjoining street.

Review 86:The staff was very accommodating and made arrangements for us to pick up the key as we were arriving after the office closed. We arrived very late as it took much longer to get to Lake Tekapo than anticipated. We also got lost due to wrong GPS instructions. We needed to call the owner of the property who told us we were on the wrong road. It was very clean and modern. The next morning when the hot water was not working, the owner arrived very quickly to fix the problem. The shower was nice and hot with great pressure.

Review 87:There is some distance (2 minutes by car) to the lake and town centre.

Review 88:Very large house, including 5 bedrooms, two bathrooms, large open kitchen, Feel stay like at home.

Review 89:Out of 5 bedrooms two had no wardrobes, no mirrow in any bedrooms. Some had no bedside lamps. No package left re HSE. Outside furniture needs to be replaced.

Review 90:Location was good

Review 91:This seemed like a brand new apartment. Everything was new, clean and perfect! Kitchen is well equipped and internet was included in the one we stayed in. Walking distance to town

Review 92:We only stayed one night!

Review 93:Lots of space for the older kids to go separate ways, including back yard, well stocked kitchen. So close to tourist attractions.

Review 94:The sprinklers seemed to be on a lot, which made it a bit treacherous to step off the deck (since I once sunk nearly ankle-deep in mud). Hopefully as the grass takes root this will be less of an issue.

Review 95:This was the first of many holiday homes and hotels that my family stayed in on a two-week trip around the South Island. From the beginning, it was even better than the listing suggested. The rooms were all very spacious and there was plenty of room for us to all spread out. The views were fantastic, both to the mountains around Tekapo and to the lake itself. The house itself appeared to only be about 6 months old, judging from the guestbook, and many of the houses around it are not yet finished, meaning it's a very quiet spot. You could tell the beds were new because they were definitely the most comfortable ones we slept on in NZ! We kept saying how much we wished we had these beds later in the trip -- I think we were a bit spoiled here! The kitchen was also very good and had everything we needed, meaning we were able to save money on expensive restaurant fare and cook for ourselves. All in all, we had a great stay and I would happily stay there again when I'm back in Tekapo.

Review 96:The property is old and smelly with a very untidy yard. Bedrooms are dated with smelly carpets. The toilet flush is loud and echoes throughout the house. You could get better elsewhere for less.

Review 97:Only liked the location and kitchen.

Review 98:Great location. Only a few minutes walk from the lake. The managers were extremely helpful and only too willing to help us solve a problem with the tv. The house we stayed in was a pleasant break from motels.

Review 99:Kitchen was not very well equipped, bathroom only has a sliding door which seems unnecessary.

Review 100:Cute, brand-new bach, nicely located at the edge of town, nice interior, has a little garden and barbecue.

Review 101:A rip off! Old, dusty cottage. Floorboard cracks everywhere. Sofas stained and stink. All mattress are old and uneven to sleep on. Lousy facilities and location. The most uncomfortable and unpleasant place to stay during our 3 weeks in NZ.

Review 102:This beautiful home was comfy and spacious enough for 5 adults and is located an easy walk to the center of the village. At the end of a very long, fun-filled day we were grateful to pop in a DVD and relax on the sofas. We loved being across the road from the sheep paddock so we could listen to and watch the lambs & mothers. We would definitely recommend this accommodation and not hesitate to stay here again.

Review 103:It is 2 km away from the office. You can not reach the owner easily if you have any problem. They left the phone number but there is no telepone in the hut. Wifi is a joke. You could never connect it. It looked like a show flat that means good for display but bad to use. There is even no cloth rack nor hanger. There is full set of cooking utensils but no stove nor even a sink!

Review 104:Everything is New and looked like a show flat.

Review 105:Big discrepancy between upstairs and downstairs temperature. T-shirt upstairs and jumper downstairs.

Review 106:Views-almost made cooking a pleasure. We were taken to the property and showed around it.

Review 107:Of the 19 places we had stayed in our tour of NZ, this was the most disappointing. NOT A COTTAGE - a basic square wooden building with cold floors. One room plus narrow bathroom. No kitchen. There were dishes, dishcloth, microwave and barbecue, but if you were to use these, you would have to take dishes into shower with you or use bathroom sink. Wifi poor. No toiletries, which are standard in the cheapest motel in NZ. Overpriced. Don't feel we can recommend this property ("one bed cottage"), but cannot speak for other properties this company offers.

Review 108:Lake Tekapo was lovely. You should go on the Earth & Sky tour. Owner was helpful and friendly and let us use her washing line.

Review 109:The CD player did not work, the light bulbs in the lamp in the lounge was blown and the blind in the bunk bedroom was faulty and could not be opened up.

Review 110:The location was great, the view beautiful and the house is spacious! Beds were comfortable and the showers were great!! Great house for a weekend away or even longer!!

Review 111:I like everything about this accommodation. The first time I came, there was a few changes on our length of stay. The owners are very helpful about this without any complicated procedures. Then the house is lovely, everything is provided. It's like home :)

Review 112:House is obviously built on the cheap with some interesting features but this didn't cause us any problems.

Review 113:Size. House would be very economical for a large group of friends. Warm, fireplace.

Review 114:We encountered one helpful staff who kindly helped us find the way to their office. But we also encountered a very unhelpful staff. When we checked in late in a heavy raining chilling night by about 9pm, we asked about whether there were restaurants still open for getting our late dinner, he answered not sure. He could just tell supermarket was closed. When we asked if we can buy any food from him if we really could not buy anything to eat, the answer is no and when we asked if we have problem we might call for help and he said it was about time to sleep.....at 9pm!!! In fact, Kohan, a Japanese restaurant is nearby and it is open until 9p.m. to get last order. Luckily we found it with some helpful people on the way. Our reward is excellent dinner at Kohan when we got there at 8:50p.m. It did not spoil our mood. But when Home Tekapo is to serve tourist, its staff should be aware of the limited restaurants nearby (in fact I later found that their house also have brochure introducing restaurants) and provided some comforting information for guest to find resturants when it was a cold chilling raining night when guest arrived.

Review 115:The decor of the house, with verandah, which is ideal of stargazing too.

Review 116:A small hot plate would be ideal for a longer visit but we managed just fine for 2 nights stay.

Review 117:Cabin is awesome, be a good spot to light up the BBQ in summer and look at the surroundings. We stayed for 2 nights so we ate out and made snacks/cereal in the cabin. Lovely accommodation, big ensuite bathroom.

Review 118:Bit old furnitures everywhere else. Thin walls, very cold during night, not especially working heater

Review 119:Very nice cottage to stay, close to lake, modern kitchen with dishwasher - all necessary equipment in place.

Review 120:The address you are given upon booking is not to the 'holiday home' but to the home of the business owners. They have a super cute pug! Upon arriving at our holiday home we we pulled up to a very cool log cabin set on a hill - could it get anymore awesome?! The room in which we stayed was bright, spacious, clean, comfortable and the bathroom was enormous! We were in week 2.5 of a three week trip across both the North and South Island during which we had some shocking bathrooms so this one was a dream! A short walking distance to Lake Tekapo and the surrounding township. Could not fault this little cabin as it had all a weary traveller needs. The wifi password is in the welcome booklet which we neglected to look at until the following day when deciding where to go for breakfast.

Review 121:Sitting room furnature could do with being updated...couch very old and very well used...not comfortable...

Review 122:house was lovely and a nice location, lots of room and nice outdoor area.

Review 123:Clean, warm, comfortable and had everything we need. kitchen well equipped and modern. We love it.Unfortunately, we only stayed one night there.

Review 124:I stayed in the Log Cabin guest room. What a wonderful place to stay! The host was very friendly and drove me over to the unit. The room was spacious, comfortable with a nice big bathroom and free wifi. Highly recommended!

Review 125:The squiz sound of house

Review 126:Nice kitchen

Review 127:Excellent Property

Review 128:Wifi is not available.

Review 129:Clean, comfortable, well equipment, very quiet and relaxed.

Review 130:No wifi

Review 131:Felt like a home away from home

Review 132:We spent one night in the Nomad Rest house, and we loved it! It is a small house, with a big kitchen and a nice living room with a stone fireplace.
