Reviews for Sintra Boutique Hotel

Review 1:The bedroom picture of Monserrat with out-of-focus flowers in the foreground is best retired !

Review 2:A very pleasant modern hotel in the centre of the historic area. Spacious room with a great view over the palace and valley. Excellent buffet breakfast with a good selection of cut fruit. Small but comfy café/bar area for snacks and a wide choice of wines/ports. Outstanding sea bass served at dinner at a very reasonable price.

Review 3:Slow restaurant service. While the room was clean overall, in detail it was lackluster for the price (lust on lamps, behind expandable mirror, etc.)

Review 4:Friendly staff across the board, excellent location in the center of Sintra, amenities (coffee, soft drinks)

Review 5:The room smelled musty upon entering, but I opened a window and it was okay after that. Two single beds pushed together does not make a double bed, but the mattress and pillows were comfortable. Free minibar was not replenished every day.

Review 6:Front desk staff were hospitable, friendly and knowledgable with excellent English. Location was right in the heart of town within walking distance to the train station, bus stops, National Palace, shops and restaurants. Restaurant staff were awesome hosts with great customer service skills. I ended up staying two extra days, because there are a lot of excellent buildings in the vicinity that are worth a look at and not just the Pena Palace and Moorish Castle; stay longer and you will be rewarded by this fabulous heritage city.

Review 7:Parking is horrendous in Sintra, but they helped. The bathroom is small and there is nothing special abut the decor, but it was comfortable and clean.

Review 8:Hard to beat the location

Review 9:my only constructive comment is there will be a smell of sewer gas in the unit if it hasn't been used for awhile so turn on the shower and let it run for 10 or 16 minutes. worked for us.

Review 10:staff and location were superb. rooms were spotless and modern. first classtep accommodation.

Review 11:N/a

Review 12:Location was central. The interior design was beautiful and comfortable. Most of all the staff was amazingly helpful and accomodating and friendly.

Review 13:Hotel management slow to provide basics such as second room key and tea for room (when none provided by maid during daily service/clean).

Review 14:Great location, near centre of town, close to sights, restaurants and shops. Good breakfast. Very hardworking staff - but hard-pushed to do 'everything' on her own.

Review 15:Parking is a bit challenging but the hotel was really helpful and parked our car for us.

Review 16:They were very lovely and even gave us a bottle of sparkling wine and chocolate-dipped strawberries as it was our honeymoon! Very easy to get to the palaces and main tourist bits from here.

Review 17:Check a map or get directions to find the hotel ... Was a bit challenging.

Review 18:Staff (Manuel) that greeted us and checked us in were exceptional. The room was clean, the bed and pillows a welcome relief to some of the harder beds and pillows we had experienced, the breakfast choices were very good and all was fresh.

Review 19:Excellent food in the restaurant and great service from the hotel staff. We'd left some jewelry in the room and the staff sent it to us at our next hotel.

Review 20:The hotel is in a great position in Sintra, near all the tourist attractions and some great restaurants. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. We couldn't fault the experience we had there.

Review 21:WiFi was temperamental and only worked when it felt like it.

Review 22:Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Wonderful free breakfast in the morning. Very nice room and comfortable bed.

Review 23:Outstanding, knowledgeable and helpful staff. The beds and pillows are super comfortable and the rooms are quiet. Hotel is well located and central to everything.

Review 24:Excellent location in the middle of city center with access to all the restaurants and shops nearby. Walking distance from Sintra train station approx 10 minutes. Bus that circles up through Pena Palace, Moorish Castle, etc. is available from city center, although for €5/pp, we just took a taxi for €10/one way and didn't have to wait for transportation. The Quinta da Regaleira is also walking distance. So, overall, excellent location and worth staying the night to rest at an exceptionally comfortable hotel with modern amenities instead of trying to cram all the walking and major hill and stair climbing in to one day.

Review 25:Nothing!

Review 26:The staff was extremely kind and thoughtful, offering to go above and beyond without hesitation. A great example - we arrived at midnight the first night, and the hotel manager himself happily parked our car for us so that we didn't have to re-park. We would recommend this hotel to anyone!

Review 27:We stayed there only for one night. The location is perfect, the view from the window was great, the low windowsill was so comfortable to sit and follow what is happening on the street. The room was comfortable and nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The suggestion for the dinner place was adequate and good. Good experience.

Review 28:Perhaps the kitchen staff could keep their exuberance down while people are eating in the dining room. No doubt their enthusiasm is what produces the tasty food.

Review 29:I loved the artistic decor, the superb location, the views from the boutique and the food.I also enjoyed a drink at the bar which was cute.

Review 30:Parking was a bit tricky as the streets are very narrow (ie you may find yourself having to go around the block and trying again) but if you can park in the 'coned off' area outside the front of the hotel the guys at reception will sort the rest out for you!

Review 31:Fantastic location that's within walking distance of many of the tourist sights, bars and restaurants. The staff are amazing! They're so incredibly helpful and nothing is too much trouble! The rooms are nicely appointed and very clean (there's even a pillow menu!) The 'welcome drink' at the little wine bar is a fantastic start to an afternoon out! Delicious breakfast with plenty of varied hot and cold options. A beautiful boutique hotel without being ostentatious...Only wish we could've stayed a bit longer!

Review 32:Nothing

Review 33:Super location in Sintra! Very helpful staff, Andre helped orient us, advised on an itinerary, and made great restaurant suggestions. Could not have been nicer!

Review 34:No downsides to this hotel at all.

Review 35:Staff were very friendly and helpful, love the valet parking option, it was a life saver. We also had an excellent meal in the restaurant.

Review 36:Connecting to WiFi was repeatedly difficult despite the help of the reception staff

Review 37:Location, breakfasts and helpfulness of staff, especially Sofia and Andrea

Review 38:Room smelled of cigarette smoke, quite exaggerated to have this hotel at 9+ when it is really not very special. 6-7 would be more juste.

Review 39:The staff was really nice

Review 40:This hotel never disappoints. The staff is always helpful, and friendly. The breakfast is delicious, and there is lots to choose from. You can't get a better location in Sintra - it is close to everything so you don't need a car, as the traffic in Sintra is really bad. The boutique's inside of the hotel are great too, and the staff is very knowledgeable about the products they sell.

Review 41:The only small thing that let the hotel down was the making up of the room. They removed the soap, didn't replace the shower gel and left dirty glasses.

Review 42:The welcome and helpfulness of Andreas was wonderful! The food was fantastic, the room was amazing and the special anniversary cake was a lovely surprise! I would definitely come back to this hotel and would highly recommend it to others.

Review 43:We liked everything. The breakfast was good not great.

Review 44:The streets are very narrow and parking limited. We were pleasantlysurprised that a cone had been placed outside the hotel for us to parkduring registration. Registration was easy and we were given maps andsuggestions of Sintra to maximize our limited time in the city. We hadforgotten a charger at a hotel on the Algarve and the staff handledeverything for us. The hotel was immaculate, the breakfast good, and thelocation perfect. The staff went above and beyond the call of duty toaccommodate us.

Review 45:Nothing. Just one warning for driver with GPS: it turned out some GPS's, ours included, don't take you to the hotel based on the address published in Booking.com! If you see your GPS starts to take you out of town, simply head to the very center of historic Sintra.

Review 46:Right at the center, modern and very comfortable room, helpful staff, excellent breakfast. We stayed 2 nights, parked the car in front of the hotel (limited space, but I understand the hotel has additional spaces by valet) and explored Sintra historic center and Sintra's main attractions by combination of foot and bus (note: you can easily walk, on a nice shaded steep downhill path, from the Moorish castle to the hotel).

Review 47:When you key in the address of the hotel into the GPS ; they will direct you to a completely different place. Took us hours to look for the hotel.

Review 48:Service was great. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Review 49:A great hotel with staff that couldn't be more helpful. Where nothing was to much trouble for them, from parking our car to booking restaurants. 5*

Review 50:Parking was a challenge, but again front desk staff responded creatively.

Review 51:The location, just off the Square was ideal for access to sites, restaurants, and shops. The facility was comfortable and very well maintained. What set Sintra Boutique apart from other lodgings on our travels, however, was the exceptional front desk staff. They were not only personable, but also highly knowledgeable in making recommendations for restaurants and destinations "off the beaten path."

Review 52:- wi-fi requiring new log-in at every interruption; - difficult street transit and parking; - restaurant with rather limited menu.

Review 53:- real small boutique hotel, every detail thought through; - excellent location with view of national palace; - very fine facilities and level of service;

Review 54:No bad experiences but somewhere to "lounge" would be nice.

Review 55:Perfect position. Staff very helpful . extra touches - fruit bowl, chocolate in room mini bar safe all foc

Review 56:I liked the location, close to the centre of Sintra but in a quiet area. Close to many excellent restaurants, public transport and places of interest to the visitor.

Review 57:If you don't like big and expensive hotels but want to have clean and quiet place to stay with young and responsive team this is your place. Modest luxury at a historical place - this is Sintra Boutique Hotel.

Review 58:Restaurant space needed a little input from a very good interior designer....we felt the space needed some added warmth using the dining colours of reds ,terracotta and burnt orange ,and an introduction of a large piece of local antique furniture with bowls of oranges and harvest type vegetables to bring the space to life.

Review 59:Very helpful friendly staff who really contributed to our memorable stay in SIntra. Andreo was a stand out as he left no stone unturned in his effort to ensue our comfort. Our room felt like a nest in the trees which we were reluctant to leave. We felt the restaurant in the hotel was the best kept secret in Sintra.... The food and wine was outstandingly

Review 60:The breakfast was great, had local pastries, different kinds of breads and lots of fresh fruit. The room was clean, comfortable and, as was our wedding night, they had a few surprises for us. Location is great since it is in the middle of the village. It was the perfect hotel for our wedding night.

Review 61:Breakfast at 8:30 was a bit late but there was a kettle in the room for coffee and tea.

Review 62:Absolutely delightful staff who were very helpful with suggestions for touring and dining. Immaculate well decorated room with double windows that blocked every bit of street noise. Excellent breakfast selections. We drove to Sintra and were concerned about parking. The hotel took care of it as promised. The location was perfect and we were easily able to walk everywhere. We are happy to recommend this hotel.

Review 63:Sinatra is a beautiful quiet respite outside the buzz of Lisbon. The Sintra Boutique Hotel is excellent value and its front office (Sofia) exceptional.

Review 64:Good location, run by very pleasant staff. Our room was small but very comfortable and clean. The view from our window was magical. We enjoyed our stay and felt very well taken care of.

Review 65:This is not a critisicm but a warning. We arrived by taxi and there are 2 visconte de Monsterrate we ended up 10 km out to a farmlet!!!Beware the GPS.,

Review 66:Central,fabulous views clean and the first hotel that offered a choice of pillows!!! Extremely helpful staff Thanks Sophie

Review 67:Good service and even though the hotel is in a busy spot, it is quiet. Most people visit Sintra only for the day. It is worth a night or two to enjoy it after the crowds thin out.

Review 68:I am a bit sorry that they did not have a balcony or a roof terrace

Review 69:Nice hotel thats very central i Sintra. Great that they had free parking. Nice rooms, great staf and excellent breakfast

Review 70:The staff were very helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was lovely. The location of the hotel was great. A very romantic little place to stay.

Review 71:Difficult to find a spare socket to charge electronic devices. Had to unplug a bedside light.

Review 72:Super introduction to Sintra by very friendly desk staff. Room comfortable, with a lovely chaise with a view towards the Palace.

Review 73:The Computer at the Lobby had no Internet Conection on 27-28.March to make our Online-Check In.. But the hotel staff helped us with their own computer at the Reception Desk to make and print our onbline check in...so there was no problem at all

Review 74:Location was perfect to walk around Sintra - Breakfast with fresh fruits and fresh pressed orange juice was very good - Hotel Staff was extremly helpful and freindly

Review 75:The linked restaurant service was a tad slow for the evening meal.....nice food, though.

Review 76:Room, staff and location were all great. What stood out was the offer of free car parking for 4 days yet we were only there for a night as we were on a walking tour starting from a nearby town.

Review 77:No parking

Review 78:We loved the hotel location and friendly staff. The hotel was clean and modern. It was about a 30 minute walk from the major palaces but the walk is delightful so we enjoyed that aspect of our trip.

Review 79:Room temperature control was a bit off.

Review 80:Everything: Nice and comfortable rooms, courteous and helpful staff, parking assistance and place, right in the city center, excellent fresh breakfast.

Review 81:Breakfast menu could be a bit better but still very acceptable!

Review 82:sintra boutique hotel experience was truly lovely apart from the good facilities what impressed me the most was the quality of the staff! Since my first inquiry up to the day I left all staff was efficient, friendly and helpful by always making sure we were ok and we had everything we needed! The courtesy of the reception staff was simply spot on! They make you feel welcome at any time even with late requests! All our pre requests were done exactly as my requirements and that was very good , you could see the management is organized and strives for good costumer service! I am very happy and will Definetly recommend !!

Review 83:Very nice and modern hotel. Small, which was nice. We had issues with the room heater, which never seemed able to warm the room up. Not a huge deal. The parking is a little hairy. It's a reserved spot but on a one way, very busy street that is opposite direction from the way you will probably arrive. Get good drawn directions - our GPS couldn't find the address. Overall, a nice place with great location. Sintra is great! We'd definitely stay there again.

Review 84:The electric outlets didn't want to accept our adaptors so they gave us some to borrow.

Review 85:So much to like: the breakfast, the location, the view from the room, the quietness, the pillow menu, the great and pleasing staff. The lighting in the room was wonderful. Very comfortable beds and bedding. Free mini-bar. Did I say how delightful the staff are?

Review 86:We liked it all. Very welcoming and helpful staff. Rooms were basic but had everything. Breakfast was very good. We would definiitely stay there again.

Review 87:Spacious, well lit room with tea and coffee facilities and complimentary soft drinks in fridge. Excellent breakfast and restaurant adjoining hotel was also fabulous. Helpful staff who advised on tours and places to eat. Very central location within the old town.

Review 88:though the place was close to a perfect 10, we truly missed having a bathtub in our room. after a day of adventure, a shower (though it was both beautiful) can't replace soaking in a tub.

Review 89:location - Sintra itself is remarkable and the hotel is perfectly placed in the middle of town though perfectly peaceful and relaxing. the staff were superb and the facility beautiful.

Review 90:From the check in to check out I felt as though or comfort was the priority. There was even a menu for different pillows to request. Excellent value would not hesitate to recommend to friends.

Review 91:Brilliant location, walking distance from train station and with window seat in room overlooking national palace. Large beds and very comfortable with powerful shower. Excellent freshly cooked breakfast.

Review 92:Would have been nice to have more than 1 (black tea) teabag- on the 2 occasions we asked for more given 2, then 1! We weren't using any of other sachets. Not enough toiletries- 1 shampoo and shower gel combined.

Review 93:Location. Large, comfortable room with lovely view - and a kettle! Complimenary water and juice in minibar. Excellent breakfast. Very nice service in restaurant. Centre of Sintra, near palace.

Review 94:Parking was difficult, but the staff moved our car for us and watched over it.

Review 95:Location in the heart of the historic district. Helpfulness of the staff. Comfortable rooms. Excellent breakfast.

Review 96:Our stay was too short!

Review 97:Service and attention from Andres at the desk - he was terrific! Roomwas lovely but setting is the star of the show here. The town is solovely and picturesque and the Sintra boutique, though modern, feelsvery much part of the loveliness. I asked Andres if I could get a glassof wine, and he soon introduced me to Luis and Perdo, proprietors of ofa superb wine shop affiliated with the hotel. They let us"taste" a bottle or two of wine (we were their firstcustomers!) and we ended up joining them for a superb dinner and lots ofgreat conversation about life in Portugal. Our experience at this lovelyhotel was too short, but perfect in every way! Thanks Andres, Luis andPedro for a memorable afternoon and evening in Sintra!

Review 98:While the internet siganal is very good, the need to constantly sign in is frustrating as you have to do it almost every time you start a session.

Review 99:The location was excellent. Good view of the city and Palace. Very helpful staff. The buffet breakfast is excellent.

Review 100:My stay in Sintra was much better than I expected. First of all, a large and spacious room, with a beautiful view out the window toward Sintra. Courteous service! I have no words how to describe the quality of the service. I would pay more and I'll add an extra star to the hotel. 5 stars without a doubt. Great breakfast and perfect location. I could say that I felt the atmosphere of the "boutique". Sinatra is breathtaking! amazing Landscapes! I can Highly recommend this hotel. I stayed three nights there and I'm sure I'll come back soon. Thank you! Yuval Ezra

Review 101:We recieved an email from the hotel some time before our stay, asking about our preferences and the reason for our visit. We informed them that we are celebrating our 25th anniversary and upon our arrival, there was a welcome tray in the room with a lovely cake awaiting us.

Review 102:The smell in the room and the bathrooms, I think they have a drainage problem in the area.

Review 103:Everything, the breakfast is very special and generous. Angela was very sweet and helpful .

Review 104:Everything was great so this spot is empty.

Review 105:Courtesy and efficiency of staff. Room was slightly small but had everything including tea/coffee making and a good shower and bidet. Lovely breakfast.

Review 106:This remark has nothing to do with the actual hotel but is relivent to the food businesses on the street corner. Be cautious when buying food later in the day. I became very sick for 24 hours after eating a quiche from a bread/pastry shop on the corner near the hotel.

Review 107:Loved everything about this hotel.Staff were exceptionally helpful, breakfast, location, access to interesting places to visit was all good.

Review 108:The highly positively reviewed restaurant - Sintrius, was very mediocre - no fresh seafood offerings, the bright lighting gave it an aseptic, cafeteria like look and the menu was truly forgettable - only the servers were very attentive to the only 2 occupied tables. In contrast, Tacho Real, a few steps up from the hotel, was hopping with customers and a soulful musician. I also wish that they had accommodated my express request by email to give us a 2nd floor room since there were not too many guests when we first arrived

Review 109:Responsive staff, convenient location, excellent breakfast, comfortable room

Review 110:Hours for breakfast should be more clearly defined. We arrived at 10am and there was almost nothing left at the buffet... However the staff was helpful and prepared some more for us!

Review 111:Location & quality of the hotel

Review 112:Staff were amazing right from the booking. They helped organise activities for us, recommended places to visit. The room was beautiful, comfortable and quiet. I would highly recommend

Review 113:The hotel is nest to quite a busy road so you do hear traffic noise.

Review 114:I think the staff at this hotel were the friendliest, most helpful staff of any hotel I've stayed in. Nice rooms & good breakfast.

Review 115:Great staff Great location Nothing too much trouble Stay in a small hotel where you are well looked after, Not just a number!

Review 116:Every detail was great, you can walk out of the hotel doors turn left and after 3 paces turn left again into a lovely restraunt ! Portugese sparkling wine will compliment a great meal and you can the retrace your steps back into the hotel. Enough exercise for one day!

Review 117:Parking can be difficult to find when in high season

Review 118:Helpful, polite staff. Clean hotel, comfortable rooms. Reasonable breakfast. Good location to explore Sintra.

Review 119:The hotel was very difficult to find/park at - its on a very busy road which is on the Sintra one-way system - expect a long circular drive if you miss the right turning

Review 120:Staff offered to locate and park my car after a nightmare in finding the hotel and were generally very responsive. Once we'd check in the location became a great asset - just around the corner from the Palacio National

Review 121:We lucked out with a parking space right in front of the hotel (thanks in large part to help from the staff), but the hotel itself has no parking and parking in Sintra can be a headache.

Review 122:Staff was extremely gracious and helpful. Location is great. Room was beautiful with lovely view. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic.

Review 123:Stylish decor, comfortable room with a good view of the palace and city, good location, and warm helpful staff. Couldn't be better! Sintra is very nice in the early morning, before the day-trip rush, so definitely worth an overnight stay.

Review 124:Ŵarm water flow not stable during showers. Airco could be more silent.

Review 125:Large rooms and bathroom. Bright room design. Good acoustical insulation. Nice breakfast. Good balance price/quality for restaurant in hotel.

Review 126:Very helpful staff. Nice restaurant with simple tasty food. Excellent breakfast.
