Review 2：Perfect manor very friendly and cosy!! You fell home in this place! Big room, you have a park just in front of the manor and it s just 10 minutes walking from town! I really recommend:)
Review 3：One of the staff asked my name and he wrote it wrong so I told him the correct way to write it but he said "whatever" ... I felt a bit insulted by that. However the other staff members are nice and friendly (except Mr X)
Review 4：The building is so unique, full of history, because I like something classy and unique. The room is clean and again it has very unique decoration inside. I really love the design of the building. The room also has cheap rate in peak season so it is value for money.

Review 13：Some long term guests made a big mess in the room, no private lockers + room could also not be locked, first night was charged on the credit card without any information about it (I am charged with fees by my bank when paying in foreign currencies, so I usually use cash)

Review 15：The staff were less than amazingly helpful. I arrived at about 10pm with 3 huge bags, when I arrived I called the night manager asking if she could help me with the bags, she did somewhat gruffly, she took one bag where I had the other two. Then when I checked in with the reception the next morning, the receptionist remarked that I had, "arrived in the middle of the night requesting luggage service". I thought this was rude and not good customer service.

Review 23：The plumbing seems to be connected - in a bad way. When you're in the shower and someone flushes the toilet, you get either freezing or scorching water.

Review 28：In the second house there were too few bathroom facilities... Not particularly impressed with a toilet without a sink and then if someone's in the shower... No access to a sink. Second house had no common room area other than the kitchen... Which was small.

Review 30：The staff were great, very helpful and considerate. Beautiful heritage building with lovely view. House rules were based on consideration for others including keep quiet after 11pm and this was obeyed. Lovely.
Review 31：Manor house has the feel of a home. Sure I wouldn't have that many roommates at home, but it just feels like home. A home where you can kick back and relax after a long day. I really liked staying at the Manor house and everyone, the staff and the other guests where very friendly and open.

Review 33：This simple backpacker lodge has everything you could need for a low cost place to stay. It's cozy, has a ton of charm and the staff are great. Easy to walk wherever you need in town.
Review 34：The house we were in had about 30 people in it with only 2 toilets and 3 showers. Every time you wanted to use a toilet or a shower or a sink, it was matter of queuing or being lucky. The upstairs toilet didn't have a sink, so you couldn't wash your hands if someone was in the shower (which was all the time). Staff weren't the friendliest either, we were late to check in after driving from Christchurch. Got shown to our room by a nice girl, then when we checked out got snarky comments from the guy for not checking in properly - no one told us we needed to.

Review 36：Stayed there 2 years ago in the main building. Everything is old as expected. However, this time we were pushed to a separate building (tokinson?), which was a complete disaster. Stayed 4 nights, every night a different group of crazy people partying at the kitchen, yelling out loud till 11 am. We could never sleep. The next morning all you can see in the kitchen was a whole stack of unwashed dishes and opened alcohol bottles. Disgusting. Manager never check this building at night. We are not coming back again.

Review 61：The dorm room was obviously converted from a formal parlour or other room, with stained glass panels in the top of the door, with no curtains over those and the hallway lights on the dorm room is rather brighter than comfortable when trying to get to sleep. Bring a face mask or eye shades if booking the large dorm.

Review 67：This was a comfortable little backpackers and I enjoyed my stay. The centre of town is only a few minutes away. It is an older house but its reasonably priced and it was clean and tidy. I booked a single room but ended up with a room with a double and single bed with lots of space. The room was warm and the separate shower and toilet was clean and there was plenty of hot water. Two kitchen type rooms in the house which was handy. The Wifi worked well (even with skype) and was free. The staff member was very friendly and welcoming. I would certainly stay here again.
