Reviews for Hotel Mercurio

Review 1:The facility is a bit dated and could use a makeover. Fans could be used in the restrooms. The facility is a bit dengy and could use a brighter paint to lighten it up. It could use a more comfortable lounge to sit outside the room.

Review 2:The staff was exceptional and trustworthy. Ready to help, this by far made up for the short commings of the facility.

Review 3:This is a perfect location in the Zona Romantica. It is a tourist class hotel catering the gay travelers. It is clean, the staff is excellent, the evening bar service and the breakfast are great.

Review 4:The entire staff is friendly and helpful at a hotel that is perfectly located for those visiting gay Puerto Vallarta. Additionally, the poolside happy hours and Sunday BBQs create opportunities for the guests to have fun & get to know one another. All at a bargain price.

Review 5:The room was dusty and not well cleaned. Sheets though clean were stained in ways that are not acceptable anywhere and should have been thrown out instead of used over and over. Will go back for a drink but not to stay overnight. Ratings are too high and my best buddy and I were very disappointed.

Review 6:The bartender was friendly and mixed good drinks. Breakfast was warming up fast due to a lack of ice on mixed cut fruit and yogurt packs.

Review 7:The rooms are extremely basic and disappointing and need a good clean. I was afraid to sit on the bed as it was so dirty. I was so disappointed after checking in that I considered losing the money I had prepaid and checking in at another hotel. I wish I had as I came away from the hotel with scabies I caught from the dirty beds/pillows. Although the sheets may have been clean (not sure), the mattress, pillows and bedspreads were certainly not. Old, basic furniture that needed cleaning (or even better replacing). Very old, dirty bathrooms. I had to have a cold shower one day as there was no hot water. I would not stay here again.

Review 8:There is a small courtyard pool and bar where breakfast is served and also an afternoon happy hour. Although the courtyard could do with a good clean, this is an area people sit and congregate and it is an easy place to meet people. Mostly a friendly, older crowd. One or two members of staff were friendly (e.g. Jorge the barman) but the majority were indifferent. Free wifi was appreciated but everyone complained how slow it was. Free breakfast but nothing special (eggs, toast, yogurt, stale croissants and pastries, beans, juice, coffee).

Review 9:The rooms themselves had odd layouts and the wifi was terribly inconsistent.

Review 10:Great location and staff. The price was ok. And we met a great group of people at the hotel which had a social atmosphere.

Review 11:The hotel definitely needs a little updating before it starts appearing neglected. Obvious mildew and termite damage is visible all around the hotel. The WIFI is atrociously unreliable and needs to be redesigned to handle the number of guests and hotel layout. Those who work remotely while on vacation will not be able to do so.

Review 12:I love the Mercurio and it's staff. The hotel is warm and welcoming and creates an atmosphere that invites you to sit back and relax. Daily breakfast is included.

Review 13:It is definitely a 2 star hotel, it is rather old and a bit dingy, the bathrooms, tile floors, walls etc really need a renovation. WIFI signal is sometimes weak but it worked every day. As far as a 2 star hotel goes, they do a good job here. If you want luxury, this is not for you. If you want good basic value, it's fine.

Review 14:Note that this is an all gay (and basically all male) hotel. The AC works GREAT, room stayed nice and cold. The bed is decent and firm (not plush but firm); the pillows are also comfortable. The Staff is very friendly, Jorge the bartender is great. Breakfast is pretty decent, with fresh eggs every day, and usual continental choices (cereal, fruit, yogurt). Happy-hour in the afternoons with 2 for 1 drinks by the pool is very nice, good time to socialize with the other guys.

Review 15:The wi-fi should have been a lot better and a comfortable chair in the room would have been greatly appreciated.

Review 16:Basic accommodations, but the staff is great and there was plenty of hot water, clean towels and sheets. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast limited but delicious. If you're looking for 'stylish' look elsewhere, but you'll pay a lot more too. And who vacations in their room anyway?

Review 17:I can not think of anything that I didn't like, unless it was having to leave at the end of my vacation.

Review 18:I really loved everything about the hotel. The staff is made up of some very nice guys: very helpful and willing to go out of their way to make your stay at Hotel Mercurio enjoyable. The morning breakfast was always good. My room huge, well taken care of and an AC that kept me very comfortable. I liked it so much that I am heading back in four weeks.

Review 19:Some of the rooms are right off the street, and it has been noisy early in the morning.

Review 20:The clientele that stay here seem to be so fun and genuine. No attitude that seems to go with some of the gay establishments. The staff is very accommodating and friendly.

Review 21:The Mercuiro is our first choice of places to stay when traveling to Puerto Vallarta. It is a simple hotel but the service is excellent and the staff is first class. From the moment of your arrival the tend to all of your needs. The location is also great. It is a very short walk to Playa Los Muertos and the Malecon. There are also good little cafes in the vicinity of the hotel.

Review 22:The property still needs a few upgrades in plumbing, but they are working on that!

Review 23:The staff is incredible. I asked for a quiet room away from the street, and I was as far from the street as the property allows! They were able to accommodate my 2 requests while there immediately. Job well done! ( Safe and Secure as well)

Review 24:I was on the first floor which could be loud during breakfast but really... Who is there to sleep?

Review 25:The staff were friendly, rooms were cleaned a lot, people were friendly.

Review 26:Somewhat noisey....construction

Review 27:Clean and friendly

Review 28:The staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. The hotel was clean and had nice amenities. The complimentary breakfast was excellent.

Review 29:I love this place, but it is not for everyone. It is a GAY hotel.

Review 30:The staff, location, and the wonderful prepared breakfast as you like.

Review 31:Rooms were ok

Review 32:Friendly staff

Review 33:Staff is wonderful and the location couldn't be better. I can't wait to return!

Review 40:It's an older please but great location friendly staff breakfast and free wi fi great for your money

Review 41:Bathrooms need painting, mold on the walls and ceilings

Review 42:Cleanliness Friendliness Location Price Great buffet breakfast

Review 43:as usual the staff takes good care of you and the hotel is close to the gay beach, restaurant row, clubs, bars, and very good breakfast choice

Review 44:Rooms were outdated...bathrooms in need of updating.

Review 45:Pool area and was nice.

Review 46:Daily smiling faces really made my stay even better.

Review 47:Having to leave!

Review 48:Friendly staff and great location. And guests were friendly and fun to hang out with. They also had some events around the pool which were fun and entertaining.

Review 49:Extremely friendly staff - the place feels more like a gay B&B. Love the fact that they include buffet breakfasts and great pool area and happy hour.

Review 50:nothing

Review 51:The staff were so friendly and helpful and everything was close to location. The breakfast was very good and the early morning around the pool was a great place to meet as well as happy hour.

Review 52:The location was great, close to the beach, restaurant and bars. Theroom had an individual air conditioner, and was so nice as some of thedays you just wanted to get out of the heat. Many restaurants wereeither outside dining or used fans to cool, so it was nice returning toa room that you could control the level of temperature. Like many of thesurrounding business facilities in Puerto Vallarta, this hotel brings inits own ice and provides bottled water daily in your room free of charge(even though the tap water is supposed to be ok to drink). We used theice etc., and never had any issues with illness (which my friend and Iwere paranoid at the beginning about). I can't wait to go back, andwould definately stay at this hotel again! Alex and Gabriel at the frontdesk were very friendly and helpful with booking excursions or givingdirections etc.,!

Review 53:They could renovate the hotel, keep the laid back decor but make the decoration up to date.

Review 54:The staff is kind and very nice and efficient, they take care of their guests with suggestions about Puerto Vallarta and propose several activities. The hotel is gay, which is great since they adapt to the lifestyle entirely, no questions asked, no attitude.

Review 55:Last nite I had an invasion of termites in my room which the staff responded to quickly. WFI connection in room went in and out depending on where I stood in my room.

Review 56:Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were cleaned daily. Fresh towels and good common computer area.

Review 57:This is an old and not at all charming property. Our room was VERY spartan, extremely cramped, and overall uninviting. I would not recommend that anyone stay at Hotel Mercurio.

Review 58:Staff was very friendly and the location in the center of Old Town is excellent.

Review 59:The facilities are badly in need of modernization and renovation. They room was much more basic than I expected for the price.

Review 60:The staff were very welcoming, informative and helpful.

Review 61:The bathroom was ok but cramped. The hotel overall feels short of space, as was the pool.

Review 62:Loved.the location in the Romantic Zone. Just a block away from a popular restaurant/ bar area near the beach. The room was adequate. The bed was very comfortable. A/C good.

Review 63:pillows were not the best comfort wise

Review 64:The rooms with a nice size fridge, the breakfast choices, the staff friendliness, the location, the remote air conditioning, the no charge safe

Review 65:Took long time for shower water to warm up. This includes the showerthat bathers use before swimming in pool.

Review 66:Very friendly, helpful staff. Very quaint and cozy. I stayed on topfloor where rooms have very high ceilings.

Review 67:Breakfast ends at 10:30 am:(
