Reviews for Peppers Bluewater Resort

Review 1:I didnt like the fact that the photos on peppers website didnt have the actual room we stayed in which was hardley big enough to move. There were 2 staff standing outside our room at 8am talking loud and laughing with their cleaning gear, neither us or the couple in the other unit checked out until 10am so i felt this was very rude, i dint appreciate an early start while i was on holiday. The bed was 2 single beds pushed together, which had started to move apart by the morning. Heatpump did not work. Had to fill the jug up from the bathroom sink which is not very hygeinic. Wifi did not work in the room which cost $10. Not a very good experience at all.

Review 2:There was 1 friendly staff member at the desk. Room was clean.

Review 3:No tea/coffee/sugar provided in room. No DVD player - although that was in the Internet description! Very basic provision on cutlery/cups etc. Internet was free for first 100mb - used up in one quick use of IPad. Everywhere else we've stayed it's been unlimited!! No view whatsoever - seems if you book on-line you get the worst room! Shoved up the back.

Review 4:Big bath tub!

Review 5:The inability f the staff to actually show any sign of competency. Not being able to book a table int he restaurant for over 2 hours, even though only 2 tables were used in that time. Having to speak to almost every staff member there to stop from being double charged for services. The leaking shower head that meant the shower pressure was poor, the one bed blocking the fridge and cupboard, making it almost impossible to open...should I go on??

Review 6:The location was convenient and the breakfast buffet was good, however, I was too angry from the poor service and poor quality of the room to really enjoy it.

Review 7:Cleanliness was not up to standard - cooking utilities, walls were dirty, furniture not dusted well, room stuffy

Review 8:Spacious apartment, comfortable bedding and elegant kitchen

Review 9:We found it difficult to see how this property could justify its luxury resort branding since there seemed to be few facilities. We felt the impression given that it was by the lake was a little misleading. We rarely managed to gain access to the internet and as others have commented, our room was extremely small with little space for moving around. I suppose it is a typical large anonymous chain 'hotel' which lots of people may like.

Review 10:1.The smallest room which I stayed with in my life, no space to turn around, the only thing in the room is to stay in the bed. 2. Not cleaning properly, hairs can be found easily on the sheets and towels. 3. The curtain can't cover the windows properly, ask for the reception's help and was told that it can't be fixed right now because the product itself problems and they have already ordered to replace it. I was so wondering the efficiency there, since the resort has already been operated for a while, could it be the first time to hear about this complain? 4.Such a small room cost me nearly $200 during the weekdays, it is redicilous. Never comes back again.

Review 11:Washroom is best of this property.

Review 12:Had to chase up pillows for the sofa bed, no soap in the bathroom, had to wait an hour for our meal but with one chef in the kitchen and a good menu to select from and the children weren't ultra hungry..., the person on the phone when you call for information externally. His voice is not receptive. $2.50 for each pod for the coffee machine was stingy considering the price of the room.

Review 13:Warm welcome. Restaurant food was very good. Staff in the restaurant were very good, rooms were quiet, beds very comfortable and the two room apartment had good space to relax and stretch out in. Sofa bed was good. Enough towels. Parking close to the apartment was good also as we did the night tour..

Review 14:Room was not what was represented on website when booked room has not been cleaned and was not equiped with enough or quality kitchen equipment. Staff were not helpful

Review 15:The staff went up and Beyond our expectations; my husband and I were celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary and they made it so memorable. The food in the Restaurant was the best we had in the last 4 years, cleanliness of the room was wonderful, location is close to everything and most of all the price was a fantastic deal. I've stayed here before and I will stay again an again.

Review 16:would have preferred a better coffee maker in kitchen

Review 17:The three BR unit had large bedrooms, lovely patio overlooking the lake, and spacious living area

Review 18:Very slow check in process, with check in area doubling as space for large tour party getting many instructions in foreign language.

Review 19:Great location and beautiful views of the lake.

Review 20:Washer-drier combo was seriously annoying! Took ages and didn't completely dry the clothes. Better signage through the complex into the little town would be good. Also felt that saying our room had a mountain view was a bit much as we mainly looked at units in front of us and the mountains peeking on top of them.

Review 21:Large townhouse type unit. Bedrooms on bottom floor and living on top. Lots of room. Modern and new.

Review 22:Difficulty in getting an evening meal. I think guests should be advised when booking in the need to make a dinner reservation

Review 23:Good location. We had one of the larger apartments. The unit was clean but the furnishings looked a bit tired. Pleasant staff but clearly some were new and needed more training. Plenty of parking

Review 24:We were two adults travelling with two teenagers. There wasn't any linen supplied to split one of the beds into two beds. When my husband went to source linen the staff were not at all helpful. This was the most expensive hotel we stayed at during our two weeks in NZ and probably the least helpful.

Review 25:The size of room

Review 26:The bed is so big n so comfy . N the shower is awesome . But the size of the room is so so small . But overall , it was great to stay in this hotel

Review 27:Checked in with amenities not topped up, barely 2 packets of tea bags, side table lamp up-plucked and had to shift bed to get to the electrical socket. The room felt dirty, with couple of brown stained marks on comforter, carpet smells and side table dusty for the 2 days. Water from bathroom leaks out when showering. No in-room slipper when I am paying more then NZ$200. 2 staff (one guy and one gal), came knocking on our door at 9:45 to inform us to check out at 10. They had housekeepers waiting outside my door ready to come in and make up the room. My wife and I had to rush, as if we are being "chased out" of the place. Really??? Such turn-around method is first for us.

Review 28:Accessibility to the car

Review 29:Slow check in. We did arrive early and were advised that we had to wait until 2pm as our room was not ready ( we arrived at 1:30pm)... Not unreasonable to ask. At 2:20pm we came back. Slow acknowledgement by staff to say they were looking into our check in. The room was NOT ready. We decided to not worry about having the sofa made us as my 3!kids managed to sleep in the queen bed. Also kitchen was very inadequate . Lovely kitchen but hardly any utensils. It took some time going back and forth with staff to get everything we needed. They were however apologetic and hit it sorted. For a four star you do expect everything to be perfect!

Review 30:Amazing location and very comfortable.

Review 31:Not enough staff to deal with the number of guests arriving in the afternoon. Only one person manning reception with a queue of 5 people waiting. Also very limited free wifi. Only place we stayed in in NZ that was so limited.

Review 32:Nice spacious and comfortable room.

Review 33:This place cuts corners everywhere, and the result is bad service. This may or may not relate to the fact that this Peppers is advertised for sale through the real estate agent in Lake Tekapo. Here's a list: 1. Really bad wifi. We had five rooms, and only one wifi code per room (for ONE device, and only 100MB of data). Staff were unapologetic about codes that didn't work, and we weren't the only ones who complained. Extra wifi cost a minimum of $10, of course. And there's no free wifi in the lobby. 2. Hot water runs out. One of our party had no hot water for an evening shower. When she complained she was told that the gas cylinder could not be replaced until morning. 3. Pay in advance policy. For anyone booking as a group (eg five rooms), the whole amount has to be paid in advance. 4. We were charged $40 for sheets for the sofa bed, even though the room was advertised as sleeping five people (and we put them on ourselves). 5. No hangers in the closet, but plenty of peanuts and dust bunnies that cleaning staff didn't vacuum up. 6. The "donate a tussock" scheme is a scam. When we were checking out we observed grounds staff filling a large skip with fully grown tussock and planting new ones. The "donation" is just a means of getting guests to pay for grounds maintenance. This was our last stop in a South Island tour. In every motel we stayed in we found friendly staff, great facilities, good wifi, excellent service and value for money. Not here. Our recommendation: give Peppers a miss.

Review 34:The rooms are nicely done up and the location is close to shops and restaurants. The staff are as helpful as they can be under the circumstances, and very patient with the poor decisions at management level that detract from the overall experience of staying here. The restaurant is excellent.

Review 35:I feel sick with the house keeping in this resort, bloodstain were found on beddings (pillow covers and quilt). I couldn't image a four star resort hotel will let it happen. Very disappoint with the customer service they provided. The front desk guy replaced the covers and quilt (but a smaller size one), and asked us to talk to the duty manger in the next morning, because nothing else he was able to help at that time. He promised us he would report everything to the duty manager, so I thought the duty manager would as least follow-up this issue when we checked out. However, the duty manager pretended nothing had happened and didn't show any interests to follow-up with us, even we checked out with her. I would say if we don't raise the problem again with her, she won't do anything at all!!!!

Review 36:Good location and view.

Review 37:Our room was filthy with stains down the front of the fridge cupboard and food on the skirting's.

Review 38:The staff were great and it is in a great location

Review 39:Room was not cleaned properly - hair on ensuite floor, carpets not vacuumed. Very small room. Problems with wifi. Only only cup provided for tea and coffee (for a couple).

Review 40:Many sky channels on TV

Review 41:There was nothing that I disliked about the place just the wi fi wasn't limited

Review 42:The place was close to everything and liked the view of the lakes from our apartment. The food was execellent.

Review 43:Limited free wifi. Bedroom area small. Couldn't book in for dinner. Advise booking in advance.

Review 44:The apartment was very well equipped. Lovely spacious living area upstairs.

Review 45:Had no records of my reservation when we arrived! Said booking.com had my last name placed as first name that's why they had no record of my booking Request 1 cent to be pre authorised I ask why. Replied booking.com policy which I am not convinced! Because I had used booking.com three times and stay here For 364 a night to charge a pod of coffee for $2.50?

Review 46:Our family of 5 (3 teenage children) loved our 2 night stay at this Hotel. It was very, very comfortable, & clean, & had great views. Great location.

Review 47:As a person with a mobility limitation I was shocked to find out that this resort was designed without any consideration of those with mobility limitations. We were forced to park at least 100 metres from our room, with narrow sloping (sideways as well) footpaths, with numerous steps just to get to the door of the complex we stayed in. Once through the shared front door, then there was two flights of stairs to our room, with the stairs continuing on-wards to another room above. When we realised the problem at check-in and requested better parking, or an alternate room with closer access , the attitude from reception was "tough, we're booked out, you should have arrived earlier’. I’m still not sure what difference earlier check-in would have made, as apparently there are no rooms in this complex which have parking adjacent to the accommodation - it would have been nice to know that before I made the booking. This is the first 4-5 star resort / hotel I have encountered that did not have a lift for access to multi-storey accommodation, and did not provide parking (either standard or disability) adjacent to, or with easy access to accommodation rooms. I am surprised I would need to ask about these things before making a booking – I certainly will in future!Had it not been 7pm, and at the end of a long, tiring day, we would not have stayed in this complex due to the attitude at reception, and the disability unfriendly design of this 4-5 star place.I couldn't use my small, low centre of gravity mobility scooter anywhere in this resort / hotel, due to the steps and dangerous slanting footpaths. Good luck if you were trying to use a wheelchair or a large mobility scooter!

Review 48:Paid for a deluxe lakeview room as this was the only room available at the time I made the booking. The view was fantastic, the bathroom was spacious and well set out, bed was comfortable and furnishings were relatively new and modern style. Full kitchen looked good until I looked in the drawers for utensils - good thing I hadn't planned on cooking as there was not sufficient equipment to do much more than heat up a meal. We did meet one very friendly, helpful staff member in the car parking area, who was ferrying luggage from the car parks for other guests. He was most understanding of our problem, and did his utmost to assist us. I wish I could remember his name, so I could personally thank him.

Review 49:Small room with no outlook. Building evacuation alarm went off at 6am due to someone having a hot shower. Not impressed!

Review 50:Location was great but the rooms with a view must have been very expensive.

Review 51:No coffee cups/ spoon but jug kettle available so not sure how can make coffee ?? Was very small room wasn't told so and also said free internet but was provided 100mb...

Review 52:There was only one bathroom downstairs for 5 people. The outside air conditioners made a low level noise in one of the bedrooms when trying to sleep.Wifi wasn't free, but also wasn't working when we were there.

Review 53:We booked a two bedroom apartment with lake views, which did not disappoint. The lounge area upstairs was very spacious, It was close to Tekapo Village with all the facilities and the Hot Pools. The reception were very helpful and knowledgeable about activities.

Review 54:Staff location buildings area

Review 55:Our superior mountain view was over other chalets and of a car park with big coach in! Very unapologetic deputy manager who offered a measly bit of cash back. We paid 450 dollars and it was such Poor value compared to others inNZ. The place itself resembles a concentration camp and the area lacks character and you could just aswell save your money and stay in a cheap motel closer to the lake.

Review 56:the room is so small and walls are too thin we can hear the neighbours side and above us..horrible experiwnce ...no room space at all for moving

Review 57:location is near to only supermkt

Review 58:The restaurant was too busy, and we had to get a take-away meal.

Review 59:We liked the spacious room, and the views. Also the free laundry was valued. The staff were all helpful and friendly.

Review 60:Very small room ,no view whatsoever. The restaurant was booked out so had to make other arrangements.

Review 61:Great location close to Lake etc .Room was modern and clean with nice bathroom.

Review 62:Their booking system imported from booking.com seems not work very well. Our room rate includes breafast, and they were not able to find it...

Review 63:Spacious room, nice view.

Review 64:No internet. Noise level from upstairs kept us awake until 1.30am and woke us at 6.00am. Doorbell rang in both apartments at same time and people upstairs kept ringing it. Bottom bed sheets were not tucked in well.

Review 65:We had a superior room which turned out to be three floors up. On entering the building it was like entering a rundown stair in a tenament building on a rundown housing estate. The only thing missing was the graffiti. The doors and walls were dirty looking and full of scuff marks. The room was tired looking although clean. Reception staff were not very welcoming. Restaurant menu was unappealing to us.

Review 66:The bed was large and comfortable. The bathroom was lovely and the shower was superb. Balcony with stunning view of lake Tepako.

Review 67:The heat pump made noisy to sleep bed room and living room during sleeping. No other facilities e.g. swimming pool, sauna, free internet.

Review 68:good location

Review 69:Room size and under stairs type location--mostly we felt mislead from the website and would not have booked this type of room B'fast charge too high and tried to charge us for a full b'fast when knew this not right

Review 70:Locality

Review 71:I booked a one-bedroom villa with lake view in Peppers Bluewater Resort because of its lake view and washing machine in the room. Indeed there is no washing machine in the room, the staff said they don't have any and "blamed" Booking.com providing wrong information!!! The view of our apartment is really below expectation, it is better to go out and see the Lake Tekapo instead. Most of the facilities did not work very properly. The heating system is either not worked or takes hours to get the room warm. Unlike other accommodation we stayed in NZ, the electric blanket is not ready to use, we have to place in the bed by ourselves. The cleaning is terrible. We are shocked that the oven in our apartment is full of grease and dirt.

Review 72:WIFI was not free and this let them down. Nearly all motels/hotels have free WIFI.

Review 73:Nice location. Good units and kitchen. Well situated. Staff helpful.

Review 74:Lots of banging and bumping from adjacent/upper rooms. Basin in bathroom cracked. We had a small room with no view, that wasn't a problem, we expected that. However, room wasn't really up to the "Peppers" standard I'd experienced in the past. For the price, it was pretty ordinary.

Review 75:Good location, good value. Heated towel rail.

Review 76:We got there at 3pm and the room was still not ready, not cool. Check out time was 10am, didn't know what took housekeeping so long to clean a room. Soundproof was bad, could hear next door talking.

Review 77:I would not say it was bad but was rather disappointing for the money. Facilities provided were very minimal. Why have a kitchen when hardly anything to cook with and why have a dishwasher when only 3 of each piece of crockery. Bathroom tiles and windows could have been cleaner. Walls were marked.

Review 78:One of the smallest rooms I've stayed in . Bath room was almost bigger than bedroom. Very over priced for the room we got. Also no WIFI, not even in the lobby.

Review 79:I'm sure room with views would be nice...however not the one we were allocated

Review 80:No instant coffee so we used the coffee machine with capsules aftergoing through 5 of them as we couldn't work it out we find in verysmall print we were going to be charged for them. I complained thoughand they said we won't be charged.

Review 81:Very flash we were in shock over how nice it was for $143 by far thenicest accommodation we've had on our 2 week trip so far

Review 82:The room was very small. We have stayed at many high end hotels and this was by far the smallest and there was no out door space. Would I consider staying there again, the answer would be no.

Review 83:Good walking distance to the resaraunts

Review 84:No WIFI available when I was there.

Review 85:Great location for Lake Tekapo. Only stayed one night. Room had a decked area where you could sit out on and see the lake between the buildings in front.

Review 86:Smallest room we had in NZ and one of the more expensive Although the place was not very full we were given a room right at the back looking onto the rear chalets

Review 87:One of the few places available in the region Quiet Car parking directly outside

Review 88:I do understand that we booked standard room still the room size was very small. This resort is not in a city like Melbourne or Sydney where there is space constraints hence they could have made a till bigger room. It's definitely not value for money. Also, there is no window in the room. Really disappointing. Strongly recommend others not to stay here. Not worth spending about $200.

Review 89:The property is in a good location.

Review 90:got 4-5 huge flies inside, disgusting steak smell spread all over 2 level villa, awful oven really dirty, seems never cleaned first hotel i've ever been to that leaves smelly rooms to guests

Review 91:paid extra for lake view, worth it

Review 92:Lake view was the back side of a building across the road unless you stood at the ranchslider and looked to the left or right of that building, very disappointing. Food was excellent and wait staff were friendly but the service was terrible. It took 20 min for our wine to arrive after ordering it but it sat on the bar for most of that time. 2 hours for a simple 3 course meal and we had to ask for dessert menus as we were tired of waiting. Wait staff doubled at reception which explains a lot.

Review 93:Staff were helpful, room was clean and comfortable, FOOD WAS EXCELLENT

Review 94:1. slow check in speed, long waiting; 2. WIFI is not working 3. the attitude of the check in duty manger when we complain about the non working WIFI 4. there is a pair of dirty socks on sofa 5. @ 2.30am, we was waked by fire alarm and need to leave the hotel room and standing in the cold opening area which is just the contruction error for the building when someone take a long/hot shower at night.... horrible, avoid it!!!

Review 95:the balcony with water view

Review 96:Noisy Air Con. unit (not our room ). Much noise and vibration on outside wall. We got about 3 hours sleep. This was reported to reception, which was acknowledged, but no compensation was suggested.

Review 97:The weather

Review 98:The place was filthy-heavy dust and grime everywhere including urine on bathroom floor and dirty shower. Told staff who promised to clean up but did nothing. I'll never stay with them again!

Review 99:Reasonable location

Review 100:Room needed a good clean, mildew on the bathroon ceiling, alarm clock not working, no teaspoons to make a cup of tea, only 1 hot chocolate sachet, the room was supposed to be the deluxe room, would hate to see the standard room. And a staff member who did not seem interested in my comments

Review 101:The standard room is ridiculously small, cant even open your suitcase, luckily we could upgrade to a bigger Apartment, had to pay NZD 90 more per day. Nice Apartment, huge space...was perfect. Fist day they forgot to clean, called them and staff came to clean, but we had to tell them what to do and after cleaning the entire apartment was smelling as one guy had a really bad sweating odor. Looks like no management of housekeeping. Next day they cleaned but again very basic, carpet was dirty, still hairs in bathroom etc. Far too expensive for what you get. for NZD 290 per day should be a perfect place. No value for money

Review 102:Good location, could upgrade with pay to bigger apartment

Review 103:Generally The room was clean but I found few dark hair on the mattress ;/ Paid wifi (20NZD for 24h)

Review 104:We had the room with lake view and the view from the balcony was superb. The room was big enough. The bathroom with bath and shower. Very good toiletries. Amazing staff (especially Irish guy :) Free laundry.

Review 105:The breakfast was disappointing. It took a while to be seated and the buffet had been wrecked by a previous coach party. We had to ask for clean plates, bowls and replenishment of food. Overall a really unsatisfactory experience given the quality of and cost of the resort.

Review 106:Excellent resort with great outlook and facilities

Review 107:No rubbish tin in the kitchen No glass in bathroom to wash your mouth out after cleaning your teeth or taking your pills Doors into unit were dificult to manage!!!!!

Review 108:The position in Tekapo

Review 109:Lighting was quite dull - harder for mature couples. To gt ground floor and lake view we were close to the main road.

Review 110:Good location close to township; very clean; very efficient, polite front of house staff

Review 111:There is no free wifi service, which is common in the whole town, but it's really a problem.

Review 112:We liked almost everything! The location is perfect, the room is clean and well-equipped, and the view there is amazing!!

Review 113:The room was not as booked, when I asked the manager,he told me that a balcony was the same as a deck. we thought we were getting an upstairs apartment with a decent view, not a concrete wall to look at. the décor was rough and there was bare wiring hanging out of the tv system. the door safety chain was broken off as well. all together very disappointed with the managers response and the quality of the apartment.conmpared to other peppers we have stayed in, this was a bit of a dive...

Review 114:The smallest, darkest, 'no view' room possible. Air cond unit wyned outside my room all night. The people in Unit upstairs stomped around till after midnight, my light fitting rattled each time they moved. The view from my thin window was out to 500 grey boulders, nothing like the website bragged about. Wifi down the whole time I was there. When I checked out the Receptionist asked how my stay was and when I said awful, she never spoke to me again, obviously not able to engage if things aren't OK. Don't book room with A on the end of the numbet

Review 115:Location is gorgeous, the website talked up the views

Review 116:That when we had a damaged car as a result of the extreme winds and we needed to return home and therefore cancel our return booking (through bookings.com) that we could not get a refund and were charged the full price.

Review 117:A little worn and run down in places. TVs were very old. No free wifi is a huge letdown.

Review 118:Great views. Fantastic staff who truely understand customer service.

Review 119:The cleanliness needed tidying up, the Range hood was greasy and hand prints on the wardrobe and we left a note explaining, the splashback on the stove was dreadful.

Review 120:No wifi, but i believe they're sorting it soon. Loved everything else.

Review 121:Great comfortable clean apartment. Has everything you need. Lovely views. Fantastic food in the restaurant if you dont fancy cooking in your kitchen & friendly staff. Location perfect.

Review 122:The room felt like a dark prison cell. The window was small and it felt very depressing. It was the standard double room, so it was small as advertised, but it was not a nice room. It wasn't a very private hotel - walking round to another room I could see in nearly all the rooms on the ground floor. Ones facing the lake had big windows. Ones on the back had small windows facing the car park. They charged for the coffee pods, the Internet was expensive for very little data.

Review 123:The location was good, and the bathroom nice

Review 124:Unfortunately our room was not serviced, I phoned reception and was advised it would be done later that afternoon. At 6pm I saw a staff member who didn't know anything about it, and he kindly did it for us.

Review 125:We have never been to Tekapo before and absolutely loved it, especially the scenry, and the hot pools, and the location of the accommodation.

Review 126:Neighbours were screaming at each other and a few of the facilities didn't work that well for the cost of the room

Review 127:Comfortable , clean and beautiful view.

Review 128:Would be great if you had a range of phone chargers for those of us who forget to bring one! Also need improved espresso based coffees!

Review 129:Friendly staff, nice breakfast, lovely cheeseboard, great bathroom and amenities

Review 130:Very, very cramped room. Very firm bed. Expected a lot better for the price. Towels were changed when we did not want them to be -- not on floor as per policy.

Review 131:Convenient location, great breakfast, polite and professional reception staff.

Review 132:There was no Internet available as they were between providers

Review 133:The unit was very spacious and extremely well appointed with lots of space and good facilities

Review 134:I found the menu was a little wanting. Yes it was fine dinning BUT there should be other food available for people. It appears that I have also been over charged for my room. Not sure how I will sort this out

Review 135:The beautiful views, friendly staff only to happy to help.
