Reviews for Playa Los Arcos
Review 1:The drinks were watery. Live music in the restaurant until 11 pm might be a plus to some but is annoying to the early-to-bed crowd.
Review 2:The location in the zona Romantica was perfect! The beach was wonderful.
Review 3:The room had very restricted space. The bathroom was minuscule and the shower as well was very tight quarters. None of the amenities were explained or shown to us at checkin and the staff member did not speak English at all. The food in the restaurant buffet was cold. The waiters took their time to refill coffee and provided minimal service
Review 4:The location is close to many good restaurants and galleries etc. and had a lovely pool etc. Our bell hop was very helpful and friendly.
Review 5:There was some construction going on (can't be helped) and the rooms can get a bit musty at times, but overall those weren't terrible problems for us!
Review 6:Love the friendly staff and the great location right in the heart of the Zona Romantica! Super close to Pancho's Takos, which is an everyday MUST!
Review 7:The staff were all very helpful & friendly. The location was FABULOUS!!! The courtyard and pool area were great for everyone. Plus, the children could have fun in the pool while getting some shade & time out of the direct sun. Our room had both an ocean view and a pool view which was lovely. Also, you can see the sunset from 'almost' all of the rooms. The staff were very accommodating, & the house keepers do a lovely job of keeping your room clean and fresh bottled water each day. ( especially if you leave them 50-100 pesos).
Review 8:The wi fi was too weak ! My room smelled musty and made all of my clothing smell and made it hard to breath The food at the baffet was not to my liking
Review 9:The staff
Review 10:The staff, front desk, waiters, were not very nice, for the most part. LIke they were just burned out on having guests there. Odd.
Review 11:Great location. Nice pool, restaurant.
Review 12:Small, stuffy, musty room with no balcony. Window opened onto walkway, so could not be left open at night. I believe the smallest room we have ever had in many Mexican stay (in different hotels). There was construction next door, construction in the lobby, and construction on the roof and hallway to our room (we had to step over building materials). The only swimmible pool had people standing around all day/evening--smaller pool should become family pool/standing around pool. Leave the larger pool for real swimming.
Review 13:Location was great. Maximillan Restaurant saved our evening--an amazing restaurant! It was pouring with rain and we had a covered patio table--we felt like we were back in Paris (only the food was better and less expensive). Wonderful service and staff.
Review 14:Original room was a box with a bed. It should not be considered an actual room as there was no space - should be converted to storage in my opinion.
Review 15:Location was excellent and the room we finally received after complaining about the original was in a good location with plenty of room.
Review 16:Booked an ocean front view room for $227 and ended up paying $270 and was giving a small room with no Ocean view. On asking if I could be moved I was told the hotel was full. On checking everyday ocean rooms they did have them but insisted that none was available. I had to work from my small box room with no windows where workmen outside was dismantling a tiled roof. The reception was also under repair. This experience as put me off ever booking with Playa Los Arcos and Booking.com ever again which I have stayed in a hundred placed over the last few years. Do not stay at Playa Los Arcos would be my advice in my humble opinion.
Review 17:Very hard to tell you anything about this hotel that I enjoyed. I have stayed on business all over the world and never experienced anything as bad as my few days at Playa Los Arcos in Puerto Vallarta.
Review 18:A couple of things that needed fixing in the room what looked like water damage
Review 19:Hotel is in a great location a block away from El Malecon (the board walk) which has numerous restaurants and shops and a beautiful view at sunset. Hotel is clean but an older hotel.
Review 20:+indifferent & unfriendly staff at check in +no late check out nor welcome drink as promised as "genius member" +furniture in room quite dated +indifferent beach staff +kind of mass tourism hotel
Review 21:+perfect location on the beach and city center +nice pool area +nice beach in front +spacious room
Review 22:beds and pillows a little hard
Review 23:The staff were extremely extremely helpful and friendly. Location was excellent for accessing everything without having to take cabs
Review 24:The rooms were a bit outdated and pool area could use a good power wash.
Review 25:I loved how the hotel was very centrally located. Everything we needed; food, souvenirs, laundry services, money exchange etc., was next to or in front of the hotel. The hotel was right on the beach and it was really nice that the pool was always shady from the hot sun. The staff was very accommodating and friendly.
Review 26:We had a rat wake us up by running over our feet in bed. We asked for a new room and were given a far inferior one with no pool view, and a tiny, dirty bathroom. I asked for the bathroom to be cleaned- it wasn't !
Review 27:Location is great. Pool area excellent.
Review 28:Reservation got mixed up (booked 2 rooms, but only 1 available). Staff did not serum to eager to fix the misunderstanding. At the end, got the second room, but didn't get that "don't worry, we will sorry this for you" attitude in the staff. Food in the buffet was just OK. At times there was not enough food, so if you were late, not much was left.
Review 29:Location in old Vallarta is close to many shops, restaurants, etc. Beach access also good, thanks to it's location.
Review 30:Stayed there twice in September. First 2 days then went to Yelapa. Returned for 3 day visit. Booked through Booking.com. I arrived & due to their own internal processing errors they did NOT have my reservation by Booking.com. Apparently this was a common practice there. I had to provide them with a copy of my Booking.com reservation. This took a long time for them to resolve. Then they put me in a tiny room over the lobby. The bathroom was infested with tiny ants & room in need of repair &renovations. Further first day I tried to sleep in to get some rest and directly above me from 7-8am through all day long LOUD construction with hammering directly above me. I left to do the pre-planned Yelapa trip for a few days and returned to my "reserved" room at Los Arcos. Again same issue they didn't have my Booking.com reservation. And mysteriously when I logged on my App it showed the reservation suddenly Cancelled. It was fine a day earlier and I did not cancel this. I finally got a room and I noted the horrible room the first visit. To their credit they gave me a balcony room on corner with partial ocean view. Pool bar very disappointing was only open a few hours daily and was basically a shelf they would just carry a few things into for serving. Overall is dire need of repairs. It's a fame oriented so be prepared for an over full pool of noisy kids all day long. Although they offered currency exchange twice when asked they didn't have the funds at the desk to do this. The "free" drink voucher I got was used on a margarita. Horrible well tequila was used and served inside restaurant in a plastic cup..SAD.
Review 31:Location was the only good thing.
Review 32:noisy on the weekends and in the mornings, due to a night club down the street and construction, which would start about 7am. pool area is overcrowded due to them hoarding in people, offering all inclusives for day passes to families for 20 dollars. Adult pool constantly had kids in it. No one regulates this rule. Staff constantly trying to sell excursions, from the towel guys to the waiters.
Review 33:Location was key! this is so close to great resturants, right on the beach. Room was clean.
Review 34:The beds are not the best to say the least. Could use some remodeling. Not the best place if you are single.
Review 35:Great location. Everyone was very friendly. Prefect place if you have kids. Right on the beach.
Review 36:There is currently a lot of construction going on around the hotel during the daytime and nighttime. If you can ask for a room away from the street. We stayed in room #115 and had to keep the ac going at night to be able to get a good sleep. Also, be aware of hot and cold water loss. We had a few issues the first day we arrived and had to wait for it to be fixed. Good thing it only took a couple of minutes. If you leave your room and leave tag for cleaning make sure you put all your belongs away from the beds, bathroom and floors. Had a VS bikini bottom dissapear from the bathroom while we were out.
Review 37:Excellent location!!! Very close to everything with an ATM nearby. Awesome butler service. If booking any activities make sure you ask for Maga. She is very good at finding you the best prices and accommodating any of your needs.
Review 38:Lots of families (very family-friendly, but not really intrusive.) Most children well-behaved. Lots of vendors on the beach, but you have to expect that.
Review 39:Proximity to other things we wanted to see. The hotel has a great restaurant, nice beach (it is really "on the beach"). It rained one night and we stayed right there, had a nice dinner and watched the entertainment. Lovely pool, also.
Review 40:We made a reservation and when we arrived they didn't have the right room for us, that's all.
Review 41:We enjoyed the place : close to the beach and close to the Malecon. Nice swiming pool and nice beatch front with all you need : beach umbrella & sun lounger
Review 42:Front desk wasn't very welcoming. No customer service at all. When checking out they wanted to charge more in dollars than in pesos. Will not recommend this hotel to anyone.
Review 43:Location of the hotel is great. Very clean.
Review 44:Unfortunately, we were kept up during our second night by a very loud woman and her kids. We do not fault the hotel; they had a rude guest who obviously managed to sneak kids into the hotel.
Review 45:The hotel staff is excellent; very friendly! Location is just steps from the beach. We had a large room with a great balcony. We enjoyed the intimacy of the hotel.
Review 46:Bathroom clogged constantly..and room was not so clean..last..we had a cockroach in closet..and i advised them and no one came to see about it..
Review 47:Kid friendly
Review 48:Our first night we stayed in a double bedroom and next night we were moved (upon our request) to a room with me bed. Double beds were comfortable but king bed felt very still and little padding. Over all the room was great.
Review 49:If you're looking to stay in the heart of puerto Vallarta then look no further. Shops and boardwalk are just a few steps away. Hotel is on the beach and offer umbrella and chair and towel services for free. Staff is friendly and will go out there way to assure you're stay is a pleasant one.
Review 50:The room we book had a broken AC, smelled of mildew, broken window, clogged shower and was so small you had to squeeze between the be and wall.
Review 51:When I brought my concerns to the manager she gave us an upgrade the following day. Location was good.
Review 52:The staff and rooms are ok. The place is a magnet for families so if you don't like kids everywhere, you should choose a differnt hotel.
Review 53:The location is great. It is in Zona Romantico and a short walk to the malecon. The pool and beach are adequate
Review 54:the window in our room did not open but we had a door to a patio that we could leave open at night. We do not like the noise of the air conditioning in any hotel - may not be a problem for most people
Review 55:location and views are terrific staff very helpful overall we wouold stay there again
Review 56:Waking up to hammer drills and sledge hammers, there was construction going on. I bailed after 2 nights. The rooms are tired. Music at pool was loud and late.
Review 57:The location wasn't bad, it was close to many shops and food joints.
Review 58:Comfort and cleanliness should be improved. We stayed at the first floor and there was a lot of humidity in the room. It was also very noisy and smelly (the restaurant's kitchen was just under our room)
Review 59:It is well located in the old city center next to the beach.
Review 60:Bring ear plugs. During the day all the noise from the pool can be heard in your room. In the evening the restaurant the live entertainment can be heard in your room until 11 pm. Otherwise great hotel; great location.
Review 61:Rooms were quaintly decorated, clean with a very comfortable bed.
Review 62:Furniture was old and worn out. Pool was over crowded n dirty. Original booking was at playa suites and were told for two not four. They switched us to Casa Susana without notification. Because there was four including children could not stay there. Switched to Los arcos.
Review 63:Location. Was able to go next door to use cleaner and quieter pool. Which was where original booking was at.
Review 64:They service is much worse than before. Drinks are served in styfofoam cups in restaurant. The hotel area is not to clean, especially pools.
Review 65:This hotel is great located in Zona Romantica, pools are heated.
Review 66:WiFi was very spotty.
Review 67:We had a room on the fourth floor with a lovely balcony overlooking the pool. Beautiful views for a winter-weary couple. Staff was exceptionally pleasant.
Review 68:The staff could not find the reservation made through booking.com, then once they found it, they did not have the type of room I had requested, they asked that we come back in 2 hours. There was still a problem, only one room left, we did not get the type of room we had requested until the next day.
Review 69:I liked the staff and location most.
Review 70:This old hotel looks lovely, full of Mexican charm and character. In reality, the old girl is in desperate need of a facelift. Our room was small and dark with a tiny balcony overlooking the pool area. Everything in the lobby and bar/restaurant area looked tired and worn, even the floors. The staff was very good. I have no real complaints- it just wasn't for us.
Review 71:The location couldn't be better, although it seems to get a little hectic going in and out of the lobby onto the very busy sidewalk. The beach is right out front. The front desk staff were very helpful and efficient.
Review 72:They didn't have the room I booked. Instead, the room I got was pitiful. Each day I went back to reception to change the room and got the run around. They still charged me for the room I wanted and didn't get.
Review 73:Loved the central location. Easy to get to great beach clubs and restaurants.
Review 74:The pool side chairs were constantly being taken over by people who drop their towels on a chair, then concider it as their personal property, not allowing anyone else access to those chairs. sometimes left vacant for hours.
Review 75:We liked the pools, closeness to the beach area full of interesting places to eat and shop. Overall a pleasant experance
Review 76:nothing to add, it was mostly very satisfactory
Review 77:Location in the middle of Old Mexico and ocean front on the Bayia de Banderos. Near restaurants, however the Hotel's restaunant is very good.
Review 78:Food was marginal - al inclusive option cost $40/ day, which i cancelled after one day. Food was buffet style. There are so many good, inexpensive restaurants just down the beach. Furniture was very old. each towels were ratty.
Review 79:Location was fantastic. Rooms were comfortable. I asked for a room away from the elevator, but was two doors down. The elevator doors made a high pitch ring when opened or closed, and kept me up at night.
Review 80:On the beach. Room with a view. Balcony. Friendly staff. Coffee maker and fridge in the room. Second time staying at Los Arcos and would stay there again.
Review 81:Bed could have been more comfortable.
Review 82:great location and value for $ Staff was pleasant Room was basic and nice and clean. Felt safe I love this hotel because it is a true picture of Mexico. It is not like the new modern ones where you literally could be at any resort and any warm country. This hotel has charm and Mexico character. I have always loved this hotel.
Review 83:The hotel is very tired. Rooms are small and the facilities are dated.
Review 84:The hotel is in the centre of old town with a great street location. The rear of the hotel is right at the sandy beach and ocean. If you like the sound of the ocean waves you are right there. If you want a great location within walking distance to most restaurants stores and fun this is the place.
Review 85:The Wi-Fi was very intermittent and really did not work.
Review 86:The staff is extremely nice and helpful. the grounds and rooms are well maintained and clean.
Review 87:customer service was absolutely horrible and it seems like they wanted to charge you for every little thing!!
Review 88:The only good part about this hotel was the beach!!
Review 89:WiFi was spotty and unreliable. Had to constantly wear security wristband for access. Bathroom was minuscule, and shower had to run 5-10 minutes before water was hot enough. Concierge told us Los Veranos (my favorite canopy tour) is closed on Sundays (they aren't) and over-promoted Canopy River instead.
Review 90:Location can't be beat- everything fun is a short walk away. Staff was very accommodating- put my friend and I in adjacent rooms as we requested.
Review 91:The staff was not at all that friendly as at others hotels we have stayed in in Puerto Vallarta. They were effective but did not smile or welcome you to the hotel. The Wifi was really really bad in all areas including the lobby and when we told the staff they told us just that it should not be a problem with the Wifi. Bad Service when it came to this.
Review 92:We liked the location, and proximity to everything in the Old Town. We also liked the pool area with free beachtowels and cocktails served to your sunbed. The room was spacy and great with balcony.
Review 93:Rooms were too small. Don't get the king bed, as the room is like a closet. Concierge isn't that helpful on finding restaurants. More interested in selling tours.
Review 94:Location Beach
Review 95:I thought I had booked an ocean view room but was given a room in the back of the hotel with one window that overlooked the interior hallway. It was like a cave, dark, small with a tiny bathroom. The worst room we have ever stayed in.
Review 96:Staff was helpful in getting us a much better room. We went from one night in the worst room in the hotel to the best, a 2 bedroom oceanfront suite.
Review 97:We had two lights out during our three nights stay and were never fixed even though I reported them daily.
Review 98:The hotel is next to the beach and surrounded by good restraurants, local stores and merchants. The hotel staff was more than willing to help.
Review 99:The booked room wasn't available (balcony and some Pacific Ocean views) when we arrived there. After 2 nights, we had to go ask them for the booked room. After that everything was great! Wonderful views!
Review 100:Perfect location if you want to be close to the beaches, restaurants and local vibe!
Review 101:Have been staying there for many years. Clean; excellent hospitable staff. Very accomodating and a great location. Will definitely go back again.
Review 102:I booked this hotel via booking.com and when I got to the hotel Irealized no one had heard of either me or my reservation. I even sent ane-mail a week prior to my trip to the hotel directly and no one replied.I do not know who made a mistake, whether it was booking.com or thehotel, but it was very unpleasant to realize I did not book anything.Luckily, it was low season and there were plenty of rooms so we waitedfor an hour until they made arrangements for us. Anyway, no big deal, since I'm an experienced traveler, I had been in Mexico for over aweek prior to checking in, it was low season and even if the rooms therehad been unavailable, we would have easily found another hotel. Still,if you are making reservations via booking.com make sure you bring yourprinted booking confirmation and send an e-mail, or several e-mails, tothe the hotel and wait for their reply. So you don't end upsurprised. The price we got on our booking confirmation wassubstantially different from the one we actually paid. We calculated thetaxes found on our booking confirmation typed in minuscule letters andadded it to the price we got, but we still paid extra money.Couldn't figure out why or what for. It could have been thepeso/ dollar low ball everybody will try to throw at you, it couldbe our local currency/euro/dollar low ball we often get. I donot know, just make sure you ask the room price in pesos directly fromthe hotel, tax included, so you don't be too surprised. This isreally not a big deal, but it's unpleasant.
Review 103:I liked the fact that the property has about iguanas that live at hotelproperty, and one even stayed at our balcony every night. It's aperfect place for animal lovers. The location is amazing, since it'swalking distance from the Malecon, Cathedral, Isla Cuale and basicallythe city center. The part of the beach outside the hotel is very lovely, right next to Los Muertos Pier. The property is nice, the rooms areMexican style and large and comfortable, and every room has a nice viewof the swimming pool and the ocean, since the hotel is actuallybrilliantly constructed. I would honestly recommend this hotelespecially if you are first time in Vallarta.
Review 104:Entertainment in restaurant can be loud but usually finishes by 11:00PM.
Review 105:Location is great. On the beach at Los Muertos beach. Price, view tough to beat.
Review 106:Room on arrival not satisfactory, especially for 2 adults and adult child. Cleanliness was also questionable...however, after talking to the front desk we moved and enjoyed the rest of our stay...
Review 107:A traditional family atmosphere...on the beach...relaxing..fabulous view..close to great food, old town galleries and boutiques...friendly.
Review 108:old poorly maintained room with view of alley and older hotel across the street
Review 109:Right on the beach in the romantic zone
Review 110:nothing
Review 111:nice staff
Review 112:location, comfy beds, English TV channels, nice restaurant, valet parking, pleasant & helpful staff
Review 113:beds could be little better
Review 114:nice warm pool, location
Review 115:Nothing
Review 116:Location
Review 117:loved the location, the hotel staff were great, everything was better than expected. Will definately stay there again.
Review 118:Was put in the smallest room I've ever stayed in, on the street side.which was noisy.
Review 119:Right on the beach and a lovely pool.
Review 120:The room smelled a little mouldy
Review 121:Great value for money. Friendly staff. Excellent restaurant. Close to shopping markets
Review 122:It's in the old part of town and everything is great. Specially the Spa
Review 123:Family friendly and clean
Review 124:The dollar exchange rate was 7.1/2% lower than the exchange at local banks.
Review 125:Location and staff
Review 126:Mexico
Review 127:The staff.
Review 128:Maybe bring in better entertainer. Maybe a nightclub. .
Review 129:Friendly staff... Great location.... Very clean...
Review 130:Rooms were covered in mold.
Review 131:Complementary buffet dinner and drinks to those that stayed during the hurricane. That was thoughtful showed they cared.
Review 132:I'm still waiting for my reimbursement of my cancellation of the first booking.
Review 133:Breakfast
Review 134:No lights in the hallways, especially the 3rd floor.
Review 135:The location and atmosphere of the place.
Review 136:Excellent location on the beach in in Zona Romantico. Comfortable rooms and lovely staff.
Review 137:Front desk staff and security. Very rude to clients.
Review 138:Location and the cleaning ladies.
Review 139:No bad comment
Review 140:All the closeness of all the restaurants big variety of food loved it
