Reviews for Hotel Posada De Roger

Review 1:Too many smokers around the pool...and too many smokers in the garden area. I have a strong allergy to smoke...

Review 2:LOCATION, asked for a quiet room and it was. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would return.

Review 3:Rooms too small, I booked on booking when I got there they had a price for the same room for $2080 but I got charged $2580, according to an employee it's better as walk in because he says booking charges a fee.....

Review 4:Perfect location.

Review 5:Make sure to specify a request for a quiet room. It's not the hotel's fault, but some rooms share a wall with one of PV's largest gay nightclubs, with lots of bass, all night long.

Review 6:The staff are what separate this hotel from most. They all clearly care about maintaining a clean, safe, welcoming environment. Generous amounts of greenery enhance the homey feel.

Review 7:There is nothing I don't like about the Posada de Roger. The location is great in old town, the staff is a joy to be around and attentive to requests, and the value is probably the best in old town.

Review 8:I didn't like the way the young kids are always cleaning. NOT!

Review 9:Clean. Traditional. Safe. Location is where you want to be. Don't want to say too much because the price may go up.

Review 10:The beds are on the firm side and our room was small but you don't spend much time in room anyway

Review 11:The location and staff were very good. There is a shared kitchen for anyone to use.

Review 12:No elevators. Not enough umbrellas for sitting around the pool. Not everyone likes to be "sun baked." A tiny bit noisy (open-air restaurant below, hotel workers, etc.) in the mornings if you like to sleep in late.

Review 13:Excellent location in Zona Romantica--blocks from the beach, connected restaurant (Freddy Toucan's--great breakfasts!) and the authentic Mexican ambience, boutique feel to hotel.

Review 14:No bad experiences

Review 15:The room was very well decorated and the bed was very comfortable as well. I didn't have any problems with the room. An added plus was that the tv had English speaking channels. Can't wait to come back. Fredy's tucan was great too!

Review 16:Location is great, close to all the bars and restaurants and just a block away from the beach and main plaza. Even though the hotel is in the heart of the action it's very quiet and peaceful and we had great, undisturbed sleep. It's clean, slightly dated bathrooms but plentiful hot water and rooms serviced daily. Great pool and patio area. Wifi works in the rooms too!

Review 17:Nothing really, basic, no frills, but the price was right.

Review 18:It was very clean and pool was wonderful! The location couldn't have been better for walking to restaurants, ocean, everything.

Review 19:One or two days I could not receive e-mails. Someone else had same problem. I survived.

Review 20:Location ! Price ! Polite and helpful staff. Everything worked. Happiness !!!

Review 21:The bathroom floor got wet when I took a shower - but that's very common in this type of hotel.

Review 22:Located just a five minute stroll from the beach, next to great restaurants, this hotel is excellent value for the money. Flowers are everywhere, including poolside, and the staff are friendly and helpful - they will make reservations for you. Traditional hotel with courtyard (some rooms have windows only to the courtyard). Freddys Tucan adjacent downstairs has excellent food. New to me was valet parking (which I did not use so cannot comment on service). This is my absolute favourite hotel in Puerto Vallarta if you are not looking for a 5-star property.

Review 23:Property would not allow me to cancel my reservation without collecting the full payment, even though I provided two days notice. But we stayed and enjoyed ourselves.

Review 24:Great location. Rooms quieter than average with double-paned windows. Showers hot with good water pressure.

Review 25:The rooms were very small and dingy looking. The shower had the slowest drainage and water would pool around your feet which didnt feel very clean. There are no elevators, so if you have heavy luggage, hopefully you dont have a room on the 3rd floor. The wifi connection in the room was quite decent, but not the best. No safety deposit boxes In the rooms. Only a small safety box in the reception area. You only get one small pillow per person.

Review 26:The location is excellent. Walking distance to almost everywhere The courtyard is beautiful

Review 27:Shower drain made whole bath a wet area. Almost fell twice on slick tiles.

Review 28:Clean rooms, friendly staff. Very accommodating and a lovely safe setting. Feels like Mexico, not another American clone in a foreign city.

Review 29:Smallish room. Spotty Wi-Fi in the room (good in public areas). Noisy voices/chatter floating up from the connected open-air courtyard restaurant in the morning. Only two loungers with umbrellas available for those seeking a shady place to sit at the pool--the remaining 5-6 chaise lounges exposed to hot sun all day, nearly unusable.

Review 30:Clean, comfortable, modestly-priced hotel accommodations within walking distance to everything--beach, shops, restaurants, bars/nightlife, etc. Enjoyed flat-screen cable TV, A/C, good water pressure in the shower, and community kitchen. Friendly staff.

Review 31:nothing except for the leaking airconditioning unit outside my front door. otherwise, that is very minimal to my overall experience.

Review 32:location is great. very close to everything including restaurants, bars, stores, and a short walk to the beach! staff are very friendly. there is a pool as well.

Review 33:The hotel is pretty basic, so for $40pn it was fine but the bathrooms are basic and the beds are average. Like is said for $40 you get what you pay for.

Review 34:Location was great and the pool was lovely. The hotel is beautifully decorated with an abundance of plants which we loved.

Review 35:Nothing, cannot complain, everything was spot on.

Review 36:We loved the area, the atmosphere in the hotel, the staff was super helpful and the place downstairs, Freddy's Tucan was unbelievable for breakfast! Loved all of it, would recommend to anyone.

Review 37:Wi-Fi didn't always work

Review 38:Clean room, comfortable bed, hot shower, in between the beach and most of the restaurants and clubs I like, very friendly helpful staff all at a very reasonable rate.

Review 39:The pool had a very strong smell of chlorine ,we couldnt even stay in it,,the phone didnt work,,the rooms tiny and basic, although they try to decorate and paint a bit,no balconies available although the ones they have face the street and have bars around them,no safety deposit boxes inroom but only at front desk which signs warning that they are not responsible for lost objects inroom..very very basic hotel..no way up to par to reviews i read on line...very disappointed ,paid for 2 nights only stayed one..

Review 40:The room was cute enough, the staff tried to accomodate and did their best when the 1rst room we got eas stuffy ,in a corner and 2 beds instead of the one we requested

Review 41:Noisy, lots of children running around at early hours. Toilet did not flush properly despite its being repaired. Bathroom sink drain leaked on floor. Wifi worked sporadically

Review 42:Great location

Review 43:The bathroom door wasn't a full door- traveling with friends, that doesn't give you much privacy. The bathroom fixtures were all wonky, sink looked like it was going to fall off the wall. We paid for 3 people, but only were given 2 bath towel.

Review 44:The beds weren't bad. Air conditioning worked fine. Couldn't keep the window open when sleeping- construction going on. The windows did do a decent job of muffling jackhammer at 4:00 AM?!?

Review 45:Started in a small room near the pool, way too noisy, poor A/C.

Review 46:I liked the in room kitchen, A/C, décor, location. Upgrade to one of the 2 units with more space and a kitchen for an more enjoyable stay. There is a communal kitchen as well.

Review 47:Relatively inexpensive for Puerto Vallarta, but relatively expensive compared to similar hotels in other towns in Mexico. The hotel bills by converting to pesos from US Dollars.... even if you're not from the US. Not their fault, but it increases the room cost.

Review 48:Very typical Mexican family style hotel. Lots of plants and inner courtyards washed swept impeccably clean every morning

Review 49:It is an old hotel reflected in the bathroom

Review 50:Loved being able to walk to all the old town shops and the Malecon from the hotel. Clean and well run. Friendly staff.

Review 51:Wifi wasn't reliable and like many people I'm always working while I travel and fast Wifi makes my life much easier.

Review 52:My stay was for 5 nights. I booked on the internet and all they had for my first night was Room 111 which was fairly pokey. For $20 extra for 4 night they moved me for to Room 217 which is very roomy and has a king bed and a balcony. My room was in the front of the hotel over the street but I couldn't hear any traffic at night. The king size bed was very comfortable and both of the rooms I stayed in (all tile) were kept spotless. My memory is less than perfect and I managed to lose the safety deposit box key. No big deal they only charged me 300 pesos when I had imagined a US$50 charge. Calm, efficient and very decent.

Review 53:Being charged extra for a room by booking online instead of through the hotel directly.

Review 54:The location of the hotel, made for getting around on foot easy.

Review 55:If you enjoy the feeling of a small two or three star European hotel then this is the place for you. Comfy and quaint, in the heart of where you want to be in old town PVR.

Review 56:Not really a criticism but I stayed in the economy room but moved to a standard - its worth paying the extra if you can as the lack of light was a bit sad.

Review 57:Booked for the end of a holiday, for an easy base before flying home. Posada del Roger was great! Incredible to get a hotel with a (lovely) small but perfectly formed pool, plus sun deck, courtyard, kitchen and restaurant, all for such a low rate! The communal courtyard and pool area were full of plants and flowers, and the hotel is in a great location - loved it!

Review 58:I wish they would just list all the deposits they charge up front, youpay for your room, and when you think your done, they say oh an adeposit for the key and remote is xx, so you have to start a newtransaction, then you ask for towels for the beach and you start a newtransaction for deposits for that. Other wise its all good.

Review 59:I love the charming look and feel of the hotel, its not cold and boring, the rooms are nice size and it is right in the center of town, short hopto the beach and a short hop to the night life, I have and would stayhere again.

Review 60:Unfortunately , due to no fault of the hotel...there are roosters that crow from very early on in the morning and I could hear them and the streets noises as well from my room. I did not come to Villarta to sleep , but I would suggest a room not facing Bassilo Badio (the street it is located on). I will know next time.

Review 61:The staff was wonderful. The location was exactly what I was looking for, right in the heart of down town Villarta. Convenient to buses many many restaurants beaches ..... Everything you could want in Vallarta! Very clean charming quaint. Not many frills . Great wifi and television.

Review 62:nothing

Review 63:staff super helpful and pleasant, nice sitting areas on three levels surrounded by plants, nice ambiance, location is excellent near lots of good restaurants and short stroll to malecon

Review 64:The budget rooms are very small, and don't have balconies. Some are quite dark. Rooms facing the street are noisier. Check out a few rooms, as some are more updated than others, although all are very clean. The lighting isn't great, only one bed lamp. Pool is very small and shallow (under 5 feet deep). and only has about 8 chairs so they are often full.

Review 65:The location is great, 3 blocks from the beach, close to good restaurants in the romantic zone, walking distance to everything. Nice courtyard. Very clean and well maintained. There are kitchen facilities on the 4th floor, which came in handy for breakfasts and cold drinks. The location is fairly quiet. Staff are friendly and helpful. The wi-fi worked great in both our rooms. Overall the hotel is a little dated, but clean and well maintained. Nice roof deck on the 4th floor, above the pool, that doesn't get too busy. Nice view of the mountains from the (small) pool.

Review 66:Lots of stairs so not good for folks with any problems in that regard.

Review 67:Mexican charm with a pool and a communal kitchen. Wonderful helpful staff and beside one of the best restaurants for breakfast or lunch in PV. So easy to get around the area.

Review 68:Wifi was a little bit slow sometimes.. especiellay in the room.

Review 69:The staff was always very friendly and took care of us as guests. They pointed out several interesting places to visit and gave us many helpful ideas about what to do in PV. The pool area was clean and enough big and good atmosphere among the guests

Review 70:Rooms are very spartan, and borderline decrepit (but clean). There corner restaurant is actually inside the hotel court, making the rooms extremely noisy (also due to bad window's proofing). Facilities are minimal and definitely overpriced compared to other PV locations.

Review 71:Location could not be better, and in general clean, but that is about the only plus....

Review 72:Although restaurant below is great, it can be noisy if it's busy and your room looks out on to it as ours did.

Review 73:Location is good, 2 small blocks from ocean and south end of the Malecon. All the plants and trees in the courtyard make it really picturesque. Restaurant below is a hot spot for breakfast.

Review 74:During the early morning I would always be awakened by the excessive noise from the restaurant and kitchen. The most annoying noise that I heard over and over was the sound of a squeeky drawer being opened and closed. This could easily be fixed and would make a difference. Thanks!

Review 75:reasonable rate, location, restaurant, tropical entrance, clean and comfortable, nice staff

Review 76:The room wasn't quite as it appeared in the photographs; it was a bit dark and gloomy and we had to fiddle around with the hinge on the bathroom door every time it needed shutting. The Wi-Fi was pretty terrible but that seemed to be the case in all of the hotels we stayed in.

Review 77:You can't fault the location, close to everything. The swimming pool area is pretty, clean and great for some peace and quiet away from the beach. You've also got one of the best cafes for breakfast attached to hotel.

Review 78:I wished that our safe was located in our room, i felt we had to get someone everyday to low us access to our locked belongings.

Review 79:the location is great, its a really lovely resort , small not like the big resorts. the staff were great, friendly and helpful.

Review 80:Nothing really - it's an old but well kept and clean hotel, with great staff. The rooms are pretty basic, but comfortable and has comfortable beds, and considering how little time one spends in the room, a huge modern room is really not an issue.

Review 81:Hotel was old, but very well kept and it was extremely clean. There were so many beautiful areas such as the central open courtyard covered with tropical plants and bushes and trees that it was like being in a tropical jungle. Other areas and balconies had beautiful foliage and flowers everywhere. They've done an amazing job of creating a beautiful environment, and you soon forget that it's old. Staff was great, pool was clean, communal kitchen kept clean. Location was great, being very central in the old section of town and very close to the ocean. Great restaurant, although there are huge number of other eating areas within 5 minute walk. We'd definitely go again.

Review 82:Our room was small and only just the right side of acceptable in terms of condition of furniture, bathroom fittings etc. The rooms need sprucing up especially the showers. Wifi was hopeless - intermittent and unreliable.

Review 83:The premises were superb - 3 floors round a plant filled courtyard with tables and chairs for sitting out. Amazing plants, beautifully kept and a great small pool. Really nice roof top kitchen and communal dining area better equipped than mine at home! Lots of good places to eat and drink near the hotel and only 2 blocks from the beach. Good price too.

Review 84:Periodically the air conditioner would make a loud noise.

Review 85:The check in went smoothly and all staff were very friendly. The ambience of the hotel was wonderful. You feel like you are in a mini jungle with beautiful potted plants lining the entry way and outside your room. Also I asked for late check out 330 and was willing to pay half a day and the front desk manager said to just take of the maid. WOW. Would definitely stay here again in a heartbeat.

Review 86:You can forget about airconditioner, there is one in the room, but its very old, work not good and very load. Furniture is very old and I really didn't like bathroom. But still room is quit clean and cozy.

Review 87:The territory of the hotel is very beautiful. Location is good, only few minutes walk to the beach. Near the hotel there is a restaurant in which you can get one of the most delicious breakfast. It's a good place for a few nights, but not for a long stay

Review 88:Wi-Fi very spotty, moved rooms multiple times as air conditioning was bad in multiple rooms and took 4 or 5 hours to cool down the room. Most rooms have old windows that you can hear right through and cleaning staff talks loudly frequently. There is also a lot of construction going on in this hotel.

Review 89:location, chill vibe

Review 90:Room fan a bit noisy

Review 91:The swimming pool was set in a lovely courtyard. Lots of chairs and recliners offered. Location in town is close to beach, shopping. And transportation.

Review 92:These are not big problems. Little things like the shower head. It sprays water everywhere, so you cannot keep hair dry and it is was impossible to keep the floor dry. The bed was a bit hard and the pillows were really long, about the length of two pillows. These things just made a good night of sleep a bit difficult, and we both woke up during the night. There is also too much chlorine in the pool, or it is not dissolving completely during the night.

Review 93:We loved the cozy feel of this hotel, the location the hotel staff, the restaurant staff and the other guests. The pool was perfect for quick dip in the morning and at the end of the day. Everything was very close, buses, stores, the beach, restaurants. There were far more pros than cons and we had a very nice stay.

Review 94:The pool is a bit small but only few people seemed to use it ata the time we were there.our room was a bit dark and not very big .

Review 95:Perfeact location, central but quiet at night. The staff was very efficient and helpful with any kind of querry. The place is very clean. There is a garden to chill and a pool. The kitchen is a nice plus too.The price is more than fair for what you get and I wouldn't hesitate to return.

Review 96:no elevators, but only hotel has only three floors.

Review 97:Posada de Roger is a great 3 star hotel for a quick getaway and a great value. It's a no frills hotel but the staff is very friendly especally, Rosa the housekeeper, the rooms are simple and clean. and it's located conviently to the beach, bars and loads of great restaurants. I'll definitely return here.

Review 98:There was nothing not to like. This place was very charming and friendly.

Review 99:The affordability with great comfort and excellent location close not only to the beach but as well as the great restaurants and shops at the Central market and the outdoor market by the river.

Review 100:Bed too hard for my taste. No elevator. No coffee maker in room. Refrigerator available but cost $5.00/day to rent. Must ring bell to enter and exit hotel most times. Early morning restaurant noises floating up into hotel courtyard space.

Review 101:Excellent location, clean and well maintained facilities, hot water with good water pressure, nice pool and communal kitchen, and very friendly staff. Great food at Freddy Toucan restaurant which is attached to hotel.

Review 102:I loved the set up - a plant filled courtyard surrounded by the rooms

Review 103:The rooms are basic and the beds are average in terms of comfort. Wifi is spotty.

Review 104:Great location. Pleasant staff. Clean.

Review 105:Party place some what noisey

Review 106:Room that opened to interior courtyard where people gather so unable to open curtains

Review 107:location, value for money, helpful staff

Review 108:our bathroom had a horrible smell and the sink was tiny

Review 109:the location is great, the beds were very comfortable, and the staff is very friendly

Review 110:Road noise Roosters sweaky fan

Review 111:Nice hotel, Very helpful and friendly staff and the good location in old town .

Review 112:Value for its location. Great hacienda look. Very Mexican feel hotel. Staff was very friendly and hospitable.

Review 113:Loved posada de roger!!

Review 114:Central location Very clean Friendly staffers.

Review 115:Location and staff!

Review 116:Excellent location with a very friendly staff. Superclean. And the small swimmingpool is a nice extra

Review 117:Friendly staff. Community kitchen. Good wi-fi. Great location. Good value. In the heart of old town.

Review 118:Nada

Review 119:Loved the location. Loved the pool. The rooms have everything you need. And the communal kitchen is great.

Review 120:helpful staff, close to the beach

Review 121:I didn't like leaving a deposit for the towel. 200 pesos seemed a bit high for a towel deposit

Review 122:Great location, great value, very clean

Review 123:Wifi was extremely unrelaiable

Review 124:Many staff were great, some were taciturn and quite unfriendly.

Review 125:It is very quaint. Truly Mexico

Review 126:The staff very friendly and helpful, arranged our tours . Grounds are well groomed and very inviting.

Review 127:I love the adorable hotel and the fantastic staff ~ the location is perfect to walk to great restaurants and shops nearby ~ !!!

Review 128:Rooms are very clean, 2 blocks from the beach, lovely courtyard and staff was very friendly.

Review 129:Location, pool!

Review 130:Convenience to restaurants, malecon, Beach, shopping
