Reviews for Dar Chamaa

Review 1:There was a bit of an odd humming noise that sounded like it was coming from a loud generator all night, but it wasn't actually too bothersome.

Review 2:Incredibly friendly staff, good food, beautiful and peaceful space. Room was beautiful, clean and modern.

Review 3:The place is absolutely gorgeous. The staff was so wonderful , friendly and helpful. We had dinner there both nights and it was very good. This is a must stay place.

Review 4:It is a bit out of the way. Make sure you have GPS location (but that makes it more peaceful)!

Review 5:This hotel really is up to western standards. Accepts credit card, lots of staff on hand. Great garden/pool.

Review 6:The hotel is out of the center of town (6K), so you need transportation. There is a city bus stopping at the hotel. Wifi wasn't working during our stay, but would be solved in the future. The hotel is slightly expensive compared to other hotels we had in Marocco.

Review 7:Very friendly helpful staff. Clean and accomodating.

Review 8:It's kind of far from the centre of town, but we also knew that before we arrived. Just didn't realize how far out of town it was. There is an option to get picked up from the airport/bus station for 5 Euros. Well worth it. We paid the same if not more for a shared taxi to the place after some hard bargaining too. Not worth it. Pay the 5 for the private service.

Review 9:Beautiful property!! From the moment we walked in, we were in awe at how beautiful this property was. There's a pool in the back with lots of seating. We were greeted by two amazing hosts, Tarik and Hamid (sp?). They made sure everything was perfect and definitely made our stay a much more enjoyable one. We went into the pool the next day - they provided pool towels - and made sure we got to where we needed to go the next day. Tarik and Hamid really made a difference in customer service. Kudos to them!

Review 10:Location was hard to find and a bit off the beaten track. Breakfast was a good spread but by 8.30 coffee was Luke warm and bread and pastries has dried out .. Needed replenishing rather than putting all out at 7am when weather is hot. Eggs were undercooked.

Review 11:Beautiful decor, modern and luxurious. Lowly pool area and helpful staff.

Review 12:The service and reception are excellent with very nice people especially Tarik & Hamid. A beautiful architecture of this riad with fine pool and facilities to relax.

Review 13:The staff attitude was indifferent, sometimes not professional (much like in Paris) The poolside lounge chairs were not clean Worst breakfast I had in Morocco - flavourless pastries

Review 14:The shower was nice (but we had been staying in more rural areas before this)

Review 15:not so easy to find

Review 16:The staff is just great, the hotel is way nicer than on the pictures, everything is well mantained and looks sooooo luxurious!!!!!!! it is worth every cent, if u're going to Ouarzazate, this is the place to stay!!!!!

Review 17:The best value stay in our 14 day Morocco trip was at Dar Chamaa. Neat n clean rooms n decor with superior fast service, the right balance of breakfast options n at an affordable price of 66 Euros makes it very popular especially for families.

Review 18:The only dislike I could say is when travelling in group, it is very hard to get separate check. I learned to late that should be identified when check-in. If you plan having separate bills, tell them when you arrive!

Review 19:Except my comment on the billing, I loved all of the hotel! Thanks to Amid who has been a great help and great tenant!

Review 20:While we had a luxary room with balcony at the side of the hotel, it was a bit noisy at night. You can hear your neightbours leaving the room. The bed was pretty hard, but staying at this hotel was worth it.

Review 21:Perfect facilities like a swimmingpool, a wonderful (european) kitchen, very friendly staff, beautiful decoration and they did a great job at the lounge room near the swimmingpool. We would recommend the room with balcony, because of the beautiful view at that side. The other side is less interesting.

Review 22:Surroundings are not very welcoming (in suburban area and quite far from Ouarzazate town centre); you definitely need a car to get there and around Dinner had little choice and was not very good

Review 23:Nice pool and garden. Good safe, free parking. Breakfast good.

Review 24:Nothing!

Review 25:What a truly amazing hotel with excellent food staff and ambiance. Very relaxing and the hotel staff were truly amazing. Compliments to the owners for their welcome and friendliess. Amazing comfort and decor. Well located to visit sights and to relax. Delighted with every aspect of our stay here!

Review 26:Staff correct but not "warm".

Review 27:Beautifull "look & feel", nice swimmingpool, rooms comfortable and clean, breakfast ok. My daughter had her birthday during our stay and they ordered a cake but what they charged for it was (too) expensive

Review 28:Staff professional and helpful. Very good location (it's bit outside the village but in quiet area easy to reach by car) Rooms are quite modern, clean and comfortable. The garden is well maintained and the area with the swimming pool is really pleasant. At breakfast there is a buffet with ample choice of food

Review 29:The location was a little out of town. But after the desert ,we didn't mind being away in a resort setting

Review 30:Beautiful pool area. Great staff . Wish we could stay longer

Review 31:The beautiful oasis location and service

Review 32:the small potrion of thr meal included in the price the luck of luxury in the room (very basic) very basic breakfast

Review 33:The garden with the pool

Review 34:Acces a bit difficult

Review 35:Decorations, breakfast, swimming pool, good service, helpful personal

Review 36:Amazing staff!!! Super friendly and it was lovely to meet them.

Review 45:Beautiful hotel. Superb grounds. Attentive staff. Great food.

Review 46:The bedmatrass was very hard!

Review 47:Relaxed atmosphere and helpful staff

Review 48:N'es pas centralement situé.

Review 49:Magnifique, propre, excellent service.

Review 50:A really gorgeous hotel - an oasis after the desert. Staff very polite and helpful. Excellent value as well.

Review 51:A bit outside of town and not easy to find

Review 52:Very nice setup and decoration

Review 53:Staff was friendly and very warm, the hotel is nice and all the facilities very clean! Good value for money!!

Review 54:Perfect

Review 55:Staff not very helpfull. Pretty, but not a cosey place

Review 56:Very nicely decorated, modern flair

Review 57:We had a wonderful time in the hotel and really enjoyed the pool, the relaxing atmosphere and the great food. We would definetively come back.

Review 58:Beautiful riad. Very friendly and helpful staff. Pool ++

Review 59:lack of variety in breakfast from one day to the next, but this is characteristic of Morocco

Review 60:Good taste in decoration; cleanliness; well-kept; harmonious style; beautiful entryway; nice pool; requests rooms giving onto pool 107, 108, 109 or 207, 208, 209

Review 61:No signs at all fot the Hotel, which makes it really difficult to find it. The area, where it is located stands in a big contrast to the Hotel, which gives it a surreal vibe....

Review 62:Nice Hotel with friendly staff. Individually decorated rooms. Spacious and well maintained.

Review 63:The only downside is that it is a long way from the centre of Ouarzazate if you are without transport. If you have a vehicle, do not hesitate to stay here.

Review 64:It is a beautiful hotel with excellent food and run by the most friendly and helpful young staff

Review 65:A little outside of the village so you need a car - too far to walk to center

Review 66:Very nice Dar a few km outside of the village center - Staff halpful and friandly Had a a good time and would stay agian when in this region

Review 67:I don't know about the other floors, but we stayed at 3rd floor and wifi didn't work there.

Review 68:Everything perfect! Cleanliness, value for money and specially staff. The day we left we had to catch a very early flight, we thought we would loose the breakfast but the made us a simpler breakfast.

Review 69:Wifi didn't work in our room, only at common area.

Review 70:Staffs are really friendly and helpful. The day we left it was 5:30 in the morning and they prepared a breakfast for us. Breakfast is good. Clean. They offer you tea all the time as courtesy.

Review 71:Nothing, really.

Review 72:It was the most luxurious hotel we stayed in during our trip through Morocco. The view was magnificent, make sure you spend the extra dime on the right room. Staff was very helpful, friendly and welcoming.

Review 73:The food was nothing special and breakfast served as a buffet so pancakes were cold and jam and butter served in pre-packed portions. Nice pool are for the summertime.

Review 74:The room was tastefully decorated, with heating as it is cold in winter. The staff were very friendly.

Review 75:- Far away from city centre

Review 76:- Stylish hotel and modern furniture, nice pool landscape - Beautiful oasis surrounding - Nice and friendly staff - Delicious food

Review 77:cold rooms

Review 78:Very friendly staff, amazing building, very authentic. A bit hard to find, but it was really worth it, unique atmosphere. We loved the dinner.

Review 79:Very cold in public spaces in November - not sufficiently heated, dinner was not the best food we ate compared to other riads, but ok

Review 80:Excellent and clean room, very friendly staff, nice breakfast buffet. This a more "hotel-type" riad - hence with more rooms, more professional front-desk and restaurant but also more anonymous.

Review 81:The smell of cleaning products in the room was intense, and sound insulation is inexistent. Materials in the hotel are overall poor, if you care.

Review 82:The staff is amazingly helpful and friendly. Views of the palmeral and mountains are great. Good place to stay if stopping by Ouarzazate.

Review 83:Being picky; the views are stunning if you have the 'back' pool facing rooms, the other rooms have views of waste ground on one side and animal pens on the other. To be honest this didn't bother us (our side window looked over the animal pens and our friends room - the waste ground) as it was for 1 night only plus the hotel is located on the edge of a 'working' Moroccan village/small town so it's to be expected. The tiny back balconies have the air con units fitted on them at low level so with the doors open the heat from them is worse than the actual air temperature. And with the air con 'off' the balconies are too small to sit on anyway so not sure why they are there except obviously for aesthetics. Word of advice in general about Morocco. Make sure you have a constant supply of small change for tips, etc. as the hotels can 'never' change a 100 or 50dh notes (that's about 10 or 5 euros Oct 2013). Buy something small in the local shops to get change. 20dh (about 2 euros) is an acceptable tip for help with luggage, in a restaurant, calling a taxi, guarding your car etc. Taxis in Marrakesh and Fes only cost 20dh each way for 2 people, about 5dh for 4 if you haggle. Review 84:This is a modern hotel built in the Kasbah style. The hotel is lovely and the rooms are well decorated. We were given a room at the back with a small balcony over looking the lovely pool area. We ate in the restaurant and enjoyed the set menu very much. The Moroccan buffet breakfast is more than ample plus we were asked if we wanted an omellete. Staff were very helpful and very pleasant. Loved sitting by the pool in the evening listening to the 'chill out' music. They have limited car parking within the small enclosed area to the front so make sure you ask for this otherwise you have to park outside the gates. I am sure our car would have been totally safe but we had been on a spending spree in Marrakesh. I would stay at this hotel again.

Review 85:Location wasn't great and it was very hard to find the place. It's outside of Ouarzazate and not within walking to any place. Itwas in an enclosed court though, so it felt safe.

Review 86:This place was an amazing, beautifully appointed hotel/far...alittle oasis in the desert with a gorgeous pool and grounds. One of thebest rooms we had on our trip. A great place if you're looking tostay in for the night.

Review 87:The location on the edge of the palmeraie makes a great view, but it isquite a drive from Ourzazate proper. The hotel sent us a gooddescription of the route with photos, but arriving in the dark stillfelt a bit like an expedition.

Review 88:Very nicely designed modern hotel in traditional Morrocan style. Theoverall appearance on entrance did give us the wow effect. Staff veryfriendly. Nice large pool. Beatiful room with tadelakt and sinks where afossil ammonite forms the soap tray.

Review 89:Very nice hotel in modern kasbah style. Very nice rooms. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice garden with lounge seats and swimmig pool. Good place as base for discovery tours of south.

Review 90:It's on the outskirts of town (not that we had to time to ventureout), but the hospitality and facilities greatly outweigh thesuburban location.

Review 91:The staff here were great! They took our bags to our room and evenupgraded us from a standard room to a suite! My boyfriend was sickduring our stay here, so I can't comment on the food or thepool/ lounge areas (they both looked spacious and relaxing), but theair conditioning was cool, and the bathroom was updated and clean aswhat you find in the U.S.

Review 92:Probably not that easy to reach unless you have a car or come by taxi.

Review 93:Dar Chamaa has probably some of the friendliest staff of any hotel around the world I've stayed in. Kind, warm hearted and happy to help - we read in the guestbook from other people who had cancelled their next few bookings to stay longer here, and we're not surprised. We came back also, and would so again, happily. The rooms were spotless and comfortable, the surroundings very relaxing, the food was good and the hotel itself very nicely done. All in all, one of the best parts of our Moroccan trip.

Review 94:The beds are firm.

Review 95:Looking out at the pool and the Palmeraie beyond was very restful and the interior was beautifully arranged - traditional but simple. The staff were very helpful, courteous and friendly and helped us enjoy the region. The town is not particularly interesting but Dar Chamaa is delightful. The dinner set menu was excellent as was the breakfast and staff were happy to serve snack lunch.

Review 96:may be a little remote from the rest of the town but transport is readily available.

Review 97:Excellent facilities and staff. Enjoyed a short stay but would have been longer had we known how good it is. Our room was on the top level over the pool and has excellent views.

Review 98:* Cleanliness of the place* we forgot a bit about time when driving through the valley of roses and arrived after the closing of the kitchen, but they provided us a meal anyhow - great service * location is great: the garden and swimming pool looks out over the Palmeraie, so all you see when looking from the terrace is a clean and decent size swimming pool and palm trees In our opinion a hotel to be recommended

Review 99:Late arrivals and early starts can be noisy and the sounds echo.

Review 100:Young enthusiastic staff who were happy to help - even at 03:00 for an early start! The hotel is situated in the palmerie and is a wonderful oasis of calm and airiness. We stayed for 4 nights and would go back.

Review 101:It was a little difficult to find in a neighborhood that did not seem very inviting in the dark. There was no sign at the main street.

Review 102:Beautiful Design, almost Zen like feeling. Safe and convenient parking.

Review 103:Probably the friendliest and most hospitable staff I have come across. The food was so good that we opted to eat the 3 course dinner all 3 nights we stayed. 3 of the best Moroccan meals we had in Morocco.

Review 104:Surroundings of the hotel

Review 105:Good beds Great pool

Review 106:nothing

Review 107:everything is excellent. especially the swimming pool.

Review 108:Very nice staff, every question was answered with a smile!

Review 109:Hidden treasure!

Review 110:Very friendly, helpful and caring staff! Nice and well decorated Riad.

Review 111:The mattress is so hard like if you where sleeping on a floor

Review 112:The view on the atlas mountain

Review 113:Great pool, great view, very friendly host.

Review 114:Beautiful resort. Wonderful staff that spoke many languages. I am verysad to be leaving

Review 115:Surrounding area quite desolate and poor

Review 116:We liked the place in general, simple and sophisticated at the same time, good energy wipe....

Review 117:Insects in the room

Review 118:Design
