Reviews for Tivoli Palacio de Seteais

Review 1:Since this is a several hundred year-old Palace there are quirks and oddities that add to the character.

Review 2:Spectacular setting and a beautiful palace. Rooms were comfortable and grand as were the public spaces. The dining and breakfast were outstanding. The staff was over-the-top helpful and friendly.

Review 3:The extra price for the kid was really overpriced only a little bit less then the price of a whole stay of two!!!! adults???? Why??

Review 4:Everything!!! But extra charge for the kid.

Review 5:We organised local SIM-cards with data bevore arrival when reading that the internet costs 15 € per day! Internet in hotels should be free of charge.

Review 6:Amazing breakfast, all fresh fruits that one can ask for. Perfect location, beautiful views and calm environment. Nice and helpful staff and cozy comfortable rooms albeit in need of refurbishment.

Review 7:An absolutely beautiful hotel food and customer service second to none.Pedro the manager very friendly and attentive and also the lovely gentleman ( did not see his name) who helped us with our breakfast in the morning.

Review 8:Perfect location; peaceful, surrounded by nature; stunning views (Palacio da Pena, Mourish castle; coast of the Atlantic); beautiful palace, all historical rooms accessable to the guests; good traditional kitchen (no intention to copy Michelin star plates); places of interest within short distance; very helpful and friendly staff; we had many useful and intense conversations.

Review 9:There must have been something, but I forgot. Enjoy.

Review 10:Well trained and attentive staff. Fantastic hotel grounds in mystcal Sintra. I keep coming back to this hotel for over 10 years and I'm never disappointed.

Review 11:Internet did not work in our room. We did not need it but if you do, make sure to ask about it thoroughly

Review 12:I liked the setting, the hospitality of the staff - outstanding! Our room was divine, comfortable bed, bathroom; lots of space. A wonderful welcoming Porto wine in the room with fresh bottled wated and some tasty local pastries were waiting for us. Parking on the spot. Luxurious breakfast and dining room. All the staff, with no exception, was gracious and efficient. Miguel added extra warmth and was helpful to us at all levels. I recommend this charming Palacio dos Seteais

Review 13:Magical! Visited off season so it was nice and quiet. Service and food was excellent. Interesting location and property, well-kept and clean. Great view. Very close to Quinta da Regaleira.

Review 14:This is a wonderful historic boutique hotel on a beautifully landscaped property in fabulous Sintra. The staff were great and the breakfast buffet was outstanding. Within walking distance of the centre of town. Would highly recommend it.

Review 15:Nothing

Review 16:The overall experience was great. Staff is well trained and very friendly. The furniture and the setup of the hotel brings you back to the 15th and 16th centuries. We found a complimentary bottle of champagne with fruits and chocolate after our dinner at the hotel restaurant

Review 17:It was just wonderful. No complaints.

Review 18:This place was amazing!!! The property is beautiful. The service was outstanding. We just did not want to leave and we are definitely going back. We were celebrating 11 years together and felt like we were on our honeymoon. Just lovely.

Review 19:I ordered food at midnight from the 24 hours menu, the food was cold, not very good, so considered it expensive for the quality.

Review 20:Best staff ever! They were awsome! We were in a big Group for a wedding and they did whatever they could to make it perfect and they were very patient with our noisy team!

Review 21:I cannot understand why internet should be payed extra.

Review 22:the staff is amazing. the hotel is a small paradise... it is a little bit old but this makes it even more charming. everything is incredibly clean and prepared and the breakfast is worthy of kings and queens.

Review 23:The pool is much smaller than it appears in photos and was filled with children. The bar / terrace closed at 1800. The voucher for a free drink couldn't be applied the next day because the hotel bar uses a 'separate system.'

Review 24:Beautiful property and charming inn

Review 25:Restaurant is not upto the standard of the hotel itself. Maid turns your bed at 6pm!

Review 26:Great hotel to come back to in between site-seeing. Beautiful ground. Nice room with big windows providing great view.

Review 27:The property overall needs maintenance and better upkeep. The carpet in our room was filthy and there were signs of neglect throughout the property. For a five star hotel, they can do better. It could be a fabulous hotel with a bit of maintenance.

Review 28:The location is good. Walkable to town. Lovely old building. The room was large and quiet.

Review 29:Elegant, yet very comfortable hotel. Like going back in time (in a good way). Amazing breakfast and dinners. Very attentive staff. A true 'story book' experience.

Review 30:We were surprised that the service around the hotel was not better. Used cups in the room were left untouched during our three day stay, water left for guests around the hotel was not replenished, there was a smell of dust in the admittedly old furnishings. We just come from another hotel that had similar furnishings but they managed to keep the place wonderfully clean.

Review 31:The room we had was beautiful with fantastic views from all windows. The room was large and quite luxurious. The hotel is situated in a great spot and feels great to be here. Staff was friendly and cooperative when approached.

Review 32:On arrival at 4.45 taken up to our rooms. One room not ready so just left in corridor for 15 minutes till ready. Also on previous visits beds turned down and clean towels in early evening which we did not have this time. Not the best rooms we have ever had,and parts of hotel looking a bit sad for example rotten window frames

Review 33:Have stayed here several times before.Beautiful decor and atmosphere.Flowers and champagne provided free for our wedding anniversary

Review 34:Non.

Review 35:we could enjoy quiet and munificent moment with funy Peacock voice at the garden. Historical and old-fashioned style architecture and professional service at the receiption. if you are with a car, it is also convenient location to visit major place in Sintra.

Review 36:We felt that it was a pity that wifi wasn't included like everywhere else!

Review 37:The food was the best we have experienced in Portugal and the service of all staff incredible!!! The piano playing in the evening was excellent and much enjoyed by all 4 of us!

Review 38:Beautiful views from our room. Wonderful staff. Great chef. Delightful music by the pianists in the evening. Pleasant bar. Delighted with the welcoming port in our room. Loved our stay there!

Review 39:Unrelated to hotel itself, but location is hard to find at night, surprisingly seen the size of the hotel. - GPS lists two street names in Sintra with ambiguous names 4km apart. Of course we got the wrong one first :D - Located at a very dark road, hidden behind vegetation. Well-lit sign would be helpful.

Review 40:Basically everything. Old world charm, from a gone-by era at it's best.

Review 41:We had a bad experience with the check-in concerning the hotel recepcionist. We has not professional. However, this small event was completely resolved and the staff tried to compensate us for this unpleasant experience. The hotel management was great solving everything and we have completely forgotten everything. We recommend this hotel to all travelers.

Review 42:The accomodations are great. The place is full of history and glamour. The staff was nice and thoughtful. We loved the swiming-pool and the garden is impressive. Views of the castle and Pena Palace are unique. A must stay!

Review 43:Query about size of tip on every meal bill - approx 120 euros/2 persinc bottle of wine Menu good but unchanging through the week (caused usto eat out at night on 4 noughts out of 6)

Review 44:Outstanding historic building and location Exquisite rooms, periodfurnishings Wonderfully helpful front desk staff, gave personal care toevery guest going in and out superb food

Review 45:Charge for in-room Nespresso. Common area carpets a little grimy, not to be confused with very clean rugs and flooring in our room.

Review 46:The location was perfect for walking to restaurants, other palaces, and away from the busy center. The staff was welcoming and friendly. The hotel grounds and building were appealing and not over the top ostentatious. The breakfast was wonderful. We had a corner room and listened to owls through the open windows at night. Fast and free wi-fi. Extremely nice bed linen and comfortable bed.

Review 47:Nothing at all!

Review 48:Everything about this hotel was stunning. The hotel, room, grounds, pool were just beautiful. The food excellent and not too pricey. The staff were so kind and unassuming. We were here getting married nearby and it was the most perfect place to prepare. I will absolutely come back again. Wonderful!

Review 49:Internet is not free, but if you join their rewards program they give you free internet. It only took 10 minutes to sign up and I did it the day before our stay. Free internet and they upgraded our room as well.

Review 50:Great hotel, location, staff. This hotel has the old world charm of a 1900 palace.

Review 51:The hotel felt a bit too empty. The carpets in our room were very stained. And if a hotel is going to be charge you €2 for a Nespresso capsule, when most hotels in this price bracket wouldn't, that should be clearly flagged up. A tiny menu hidden in the wardrobe is sneaky and just annoys people.

Review 52:Beautiful place, with good staff and very comfortable rooms. Loved the breakfast.

Review 53:Nothing!

Review 54:The property has a distinctive character, with valley and sea view; well maintained and conveniently located. Staff: friendly, professional and attentive. Food at the restaurant was excellent; breakfast is best. Room facilities and services, of high quality

Review 55:NO

Review 56:The location is perfect. And it is really a beautiful hotel with excellent view. The straff was nice and helpful.

Review 57:Breakfast

Review 58:The restaurant is absolutely mediocre. They should be aiming at a Michelin star. Instead is common and expensive.

Review 59:Nothing worth commenting on

Review 60:Historic buliding with great atmosphere

Review 61:Leaving.

Review 62:The location, accommodations, restaurant, staff, and all the little extras could not have been better. Wonderful hotel and staff!

Review 63:Paying €15 for a day's wifi was excessive!

Review 64:The elegant building and furnishings along with attentive staff. Wonderful breakfast.

Review 65:the site, the gardens, the breakfast

Review 66:Amazing hotel, 10/10.

Review 67:No complaints loved everything

Review 68:Beautiful hotel and grounds. Staff very attentive and made perfect recommendations. Hope to return here.

Review 69:Lovely hotel, friendly staff, would definitely recommend.

Review 70:It was our sons wedding staff food hotel excellant

Review 71:Hotels of this range should offer free wifi

Review 72:Classy. The place to be when you visit Sintra.

Review 73:Loved the old palace feel of the place.. Warm service.. Beautiful view.. Grand rooms.. Helpful staff.. Central location..

Review 74:Decor,not very clean

Review 75:Not a lot

Review 76:None.

Review 77:The location, history, palacial grand, gardens, views, service, staffs, breakfast buffet. A top notch hotel with a personalized touch.

Review 78:Beautiful , comfortable

Review 79:Muita simpatia! Excelente em todos os aspectos!

Review 80:There is nothing to dislike.

Review 81:The luxury of staying at a real palace for a relatively moderate price. Really attentive staff.

Review 82:the breakfast could have been better

Review 83:Excellent breakfast, staff and location.

Review 84:Can´t find anything to complain about. Fabulous hotel!

Review 85:Everything was 100%. What an experience. Wish everyone could experience this hotel.

Review 86:My pillow was too big

Review 87:The atmosphere the beautiful surroundings--the beautiful furnishings the politeness of the help especially at the front desk

Review 88:Unobtrusive staff who were always there when you needed them. Courteous, helpful, polite.

Review 89:The only negative is the fact that the outdoor pool isn't heated but it was welcome relief from the heat.

Review 90:We stayed in this beautiful Palace on our Honeymoon & after a 3 hour delay to our flights it was a welcome sight. To be greeted by name was a nice touch & the port & portuguese pastries left in our room were delicious! The staff were just the right mix of attentive but not too over bearing. The breakfast was amazing with perfectly ripe fruit & interesting combinations of fruit juices on offer, eggs cooked to order, pastries & cakes etc. For anyone that appreciates beautiful architecture Sintra is a dream & to actually stay in a real palace made me feel like a princess! The best holiday I have ever had & we'll hopefully be able to visit again on our Anniversary!

Review 91:Dinner was disapointing... there are enough restaurants in town, garden could be maintained better.

Review 92:Great view, beds are perfect, service is top, perfect to visit Cascais, Lissabon, Mafra, Ericeira etc... you need a car.

Review 93:Very loud air conditioning; had to be turned off for the night. Fortunately the weather was cool so we could keep our window open all night long.

Review 94:Beautiful property with a lot of character.

Review 95:to get into Sintra town itself, meant a perilous walk down narrow winding streets, with no pavement, only 10-15 minutes walk, but take care. When we visited in late March, it was very quiet, had dinner in the hotel with only us and one other table, service was very old fashioned (very good though) food was not great and pricey. The next two nights we ate in town, which was like a ghost town, hard to find anything open, the sister Tivoli hotel was a much better option for an evening meal, in the bar area, half the price and a bit more informal.

Review 96:lovely historic building in beautiful settings, staff were very attentive and helpful. Sintra itself is magical and a must see, if you have time when visiting Lisbon.

Review 97:During the night the staff didn't act in a very professional manner, reception employee chatting on the phone about the soccer match and really loud laughs coming from the staff cleaning up the dining room. For a 5 stars hotel, this should be avoided.

Review 98:The location and the hotel premises are fantastic.

Review 99:the first room had a broken window and strange bugs. The second room had plague of ants. Nevertheless the manager easily have solved the issue. during the check in, they didn't tell you that you have a voucher for a bottle of wine if you had dinner in the restaurant. on the end, during the check out, and after we have realized that, they didn't make any discount after we paid the full bill. For this kind of hotel, they should be more careful.

Review 100:The comfort, the food, the ambience, the view and location.

Review 101:the price of the evening meals were prohibitive

Review 102:Staff were excellent and obviously there to make our stay something special, very courteous and helpful.

Review 103:All. The site is marvellous, the service great. I've been in several Relais Chateaux chain hotels, and can say that this one (even if it does not have this label), takes one of the first prices!.

Review 104:Everything was so very nice!! Only the towels and the ac did not completely meet the expected standard, please take a closer look at them. This palais perfectly reflects the romantic atmosphere of Sintra! That´s why it wouldn´t be necessary to offer WLAN in the rooms (€15 a day), as there are LAN supplies in every(!) room, even in the bathrooms! We wouldn´t need "Free WLAN" but would prefer "WLAN FREE rooms"!:-) Perhaps better just provide a laptop on demand connected with the given LAN connection, or special rooms for WLAN on the ground floor. This romantic retreat should stay a place without powerline adapters or WLAN in the sleeping rooms at all! Handy, smart phone, Iphone, Ipad and tablets do work in every room anyway.

Review 105:Everything was more then perfect! A wonderful mansion with a great garden! Friendly staff, great views from all of the rooms, QUIET atmosphere and perfect refurbished interior, somehow a total work of art, combining 18th century with modern attitude. The cosy rooms, parquets, walls and also the insulation kept original... Technical very well equipped, there is LAN in every room, hence the wireless phone and the WLAN would´t be necessary, as they go hand in hand with noxious high frequency emission and electric smog that we really want to escape when going on holiday. There is a wonderful romantic atmosphere reflecting an ancient way of life, a design that is not spoiled through overdone lighting concepts or optical overdone modernist efforts! Our great acknowledgement to the architects, landscaper and interior designers! Very nice restaurant and waiters, the greatest variety of fruits for breakfast!

Review 106:I have enjoyed every "pure" moment, which is really what I keep feeling ,over and over , whenever I come, in Summer. The atmosphere gives us simple good taste and safe tradition. Light, soft, decoration , make us feel as royalty travellers of 19th century. Good place for inspired writing... and having unique quality relaxation. Two incredible spots: -the swimming-pool in front of the lemon trees orchard and the scenery over the romantic Pena palace, up in the mountains.... Shall I say anything more? Yes , very good quality food, since years ,in the elegant restaurant or outside. Beautiful classical music in evening moments. The sympathy and prompt help of very kind employees which tend to be very professional and helping people. every year, even the youngsters-trainees. There are, many other good points to consider, but let me wait for my annual 2 and 3 visits...

Review 107:Ants in bathroom Air conditioning didnt work very well and vent in ceiling had wide slats open which meant we had a clear view into what appeared to be a creepy attic room and anyone who was in there (eg. maintainance) would have a clear view of us. Very disconcerting. Did complain on check-out, so hope it was remedied for next guests.

Review 108:Location, food and staff

Review 109:The ac in our room wasn't working too well. But in our children's room it was working.

Review 110:A very elegant hotel on beautiful grounds. The staff is wonderful, the rooms and baths well done to the smallest detail. Sintra itself is magical with Palaces and fantastic gardens and marvelous views. In the evening there was a pianist playing outside the dining room. Another nice touch was the decanter of port wine and local pastries set out in the rooms. We wished we'd stayed longer.

Review 111:The guy in reception wanted to add a tip for himself to our bill

Review 112:Loved the history.Beautiful walks .Taken back in time with carriage rides.Lor d Byrons hangouts etc.

Review 113:The food at the restuarant was good but it could do more variety especially vegetarian food there were not enough options.

Review 114:It's an amazing place the staff were very nice and helpfull ,we certainly will visit again.

Review 115:It is a little secluded and requires a walk up/down a steep hill to get to the town, although it is very doable (we did). Additionally, it the restaurant is very expensive and probably not worth it (although it is very nice). Stay in this hotel for a cool experience of being in an old palace, and having excellent service (the staff was so nice and very helpful). But know this is going to be a relatively expensive stay, and that the location is a little out of the prime area.

Review 116:The palace is a beautful historic hotel. Even has a lot of the antique original art and furiture. Its is not, a contemporary hotel however if that's what you are looking for. The property and views are also very nice.

Review 117:Few minor issues with climate control in room

Review 118:Exceptionally well presented historical palace. Staff were all exceptionally helpful. Location is amazing. Highlight of our European stay to date.

Review 119:No free WIFI access was a major disappointment given the price of the hotel. Given that a tent was build on the terras, there was no space outside to sit in the sun, what a pity in such a beautiful environment.

Review 120:The hotel is located in one of the highlights of Sintra, a beautiful palace. The service is 5 star and the facilities are very good.

Review 121:The prices for food and drinks is prohibitively expensive. $50 for apair of, weak, very average tasting mixed drinks does not sit well. Withthis introduction to the menu we chose not to dine at the Tivoli. Alsothe hotel was not at all easy to locate, even after consultation withthe locals.

Review 122:The location is beautifus as is the hotel and the groundssurrounding it.

Review 123:The restaurant is not as good as the rest of the hotel. The food and the wine are not in accordance with the price.

Review 124:The hotel is in a fantastic location. You feel very comfortable in a quiet and relaxing atmosphere.

Review 125:The only negative was that free wifi was not available in the rooms.

Review 126:We loved everything. From our first view of the hotel to our departure, Tivoli Palacio was outstanding. We were pampered and very well-fed with their exceptional breakfasts.

Review 127:As with all buildings of this age parts of the hotel can look a bit dated.

Review 128:The hotel is a period treasure with tasteful appointments throughout. The gardens, too, are beautiful even in February with magnificent views of the surrounding area. The hotel provides a beautiful setting for the cultural heritage of Sintra. The breakfast was excellent, and the staff were a delight, ever helpful and justifiably proud of the region.

Review 129:We loved our stay and because it was off season the price was excellent value. The only minor negative was that the weather was poor and facilities weren't amazing. No pool table or games to entertain us during storms. Room was amazing and loved breakfast and staff. We'll be back!
