Reviews for Koh Mak Resort
Review 1:The sand flies on the beach nailed us - but that is not the resorts fault. They should harvest the coconuts which fell a few times narrowly missing passers by.
Review 2:The resort had all we needed to have but still kept a very natural feel to it. There was a lot of space for us to feel private. The organic garden provided delicious fruit and veg served at the delicious restaurant.
Review 3:Stormy weather so couldn't snorkel, but nothing to do with the Resort.
Review 4:Location, staff and ambience were just right. It was out of season so not everything was available but more than enough r to keep my family, kids & parent happy. Best Tom Yam Gung in Thailand!
Review 5:Very good and convenient location for a traveler because there is a pier in front of the resort, but it isn't noisy. It is an excellent place for the one who seeks for serene place to relax. The staff is very helpful. She was willing to help quickly book transportation back to Bangkok and allowed me half an hour early check-in when a room was available.
Review 6:Grumpy receptionist. Restaurant is like a cow shed with chairs on it. Food service slow . Room average for price. Hotel feels a bit tired. Sand flies on beach, jellyfish in sea. It's quite a painful island, if pretty.
Review 7:Beachfront location next to pier, nice pool. Nice food.
Review 8:After searching for the best resort on either Koh Chang, Koh Kood or Koh Mak, we decided to spent two weeks at Koh Mak Resort. At their own website as well as on booking.com not all pictures we're like it was in real life. Some photo's were used from the neighbouring resort Seavana, the more luxurious resort at the so called 1.5 km private beach. Koh Mak Resort is about 20 yrs old and needs a good fix up, that's when Seavana was built. The beach cottages we okay, you spent more time outside swimming or "exploring" the island, but it's not really comfortable and a bit overpriced for what you get! Despite the cottages, we've been treated very well by the staff. If you are up for a massage, go to Seavana and pick one of the 6 or 7 different massages, ranging between 300 and 600 baht per hour. Beware of the many mosquito's, sandflies and ants, the sting and bite and leave large bumps that itch a lot. There is some irregular prevention, which doesn't seem to help a lot in my opinion. The only thing that helps more is a strong breeze. There are many boating companies that can bring you to Koh Mak all around 400 baht. Most use speedboats and take you to the island in about 50 minutes. We used boonsiriferry.com. It uses a high speed catamaran, takes you to the island in 50 minutes without a bumpy right and costs 400 baht. It even overs a free taxi service to your hotel in Trat or the bus terminal, all included in the price. Overall we had a good time, relaxing and doing absolutely nothing at Koh Mak.
Review 9:Very, very friendly and helpfull staff. Thank you Nick, Jim and Pap. Old, but nice bungalow, situated very close to the beach. Quit, beautiful vieuw. Nice sunset.
Review 10:Nothing
Review 11:Really nice location on a long, beautiful, quiet beach. Nice thai food at the restaurant, we ate there every day. Decent breakfast. Friendly staff. Beautiful pool. Good value for the money. We had best time at the resort!
Review 12:Koh Mak is the one of a few island in Thailand that has not beenspoiled. Its a perfect place if you want to just relax and quite. Thereare many beach activities you can do. Hotel is very nice and definitelyworth every dollar spent.
Review 13:Poor maintenance for such a beautiful surrounding... ants everywhere in and out... cleanliness is not to be expect here...
Review 14:Best spot on the island, overlooking koh kham (private island the white sand beach and coral reef, you can kayak there in 20 mins)... food was good (probably the best kra pao in town)... accommodation was good... large outdoor space for kids to run around... long strip of sandy beach... fishing for squid from the beach is even possible... very relax environment... staff are helpful and kind...

Review 27:After check-in i got room key B10 which is not ready towel and bed sheet not even room not clean yet but reception gave us room key to stay.. after 6 hrs by drive from BKK and 45 mins speedboat once you came into room how do you feel? this is not impressed. atmostphere is quite nice. Resort pier just next door to resort. Koh Karm where is a powder sand beach just 10 mins away where you can see from the resort. Please dont missed it!! Breakfast is not various but it was fine for low season which is not many tourists. Lunch and dinner you can find at resort which is good taste and value for money. Minimart is also just next to hotel restaurant.
Review 28:Resort is more privacy and just 10 mins away from Koh Karm where is nice white powder sand beach located. Nice food and good taste find restaurant.
Review 29:This hotel has a superb location and they could make a real jewel out of it! At the moment it is a run down hotel with no investment. Apparently all the investment has been put in the resort next to it: Seavana resort. Not worth the money!
Review 30:Super location
Review 31:Koh Mak is a beautiful quiet island and Koh Mak Resort is just perfect: located at a nice beach, clean rooms, good breakfast and good cocktails. The staff is also very friendly and helpful: Christina, an Austrian lady runs a tourist information desk at Koh Mak resort and helps you sort out everything. And every morning you are greeted by Nik, who remembers the guests's names.
Review 32:Wifi did not work in our room! Only in the restaurant. Lots of ants in our room. The bar tenders had no clue how to make mixed drinks!
Review 33:Nick and concierge very accommodating. The beach was excellent! Very clear water and extremely calm water. The island was really quiet. A great place to relax with good food. I would recommend koh mak to those who want to chill. Not too much traffic.

Review 36:The food was very nice, served by friendly helpfull staff. The bangalow was very nice and clean, comfortable and close to everything. We enjoyed driving with a scooter around the island.
Review 37:Insects,mosquitos but no problem at all.
