Reviews for Hotel Posada San Juan

Review 1:Unfortunately the water in the shower was quite fresh.

Review 2:We stayed two nights in Valladolid, a city that's not very touristy and spectacular in that sence which was why it was probably the nicest place we stayed during our trip. Valladolid is very laid back with colorful houses and many cenotes around giving you the opportunity to see Mexico in a not so touristy area and connect with locals. Staying at the cozy and very lovingly managed Posada San Juan was wonderful and probably the nicest encounter of our journey. We were lucky to meet Michelle (one of the owners) and her family. We had lovely conversations and felt very much at home with them. For us, this was a very touching experience which we will remember for a very long time. And the tequila was also quite memorable :). The breakfast is made freshly for you in the open kitchen area. All decorations and details in the hotel have been carefully picked to create a homely atmosphere. The staff is very friendly helping you out with recommendations and any questions you might have. You will have a lovely time staying here when going to Valladolid.

Review 3:The Pictures on Booking do not make the place justice. It looks fine, but in reality it is much more beautiful. Do not make the same mistake as we did, stay longer than just one day, the region of Valladolid has a lot to offer

Review 4:Posada San Juan sets new standards for Wellness and attention to detail. This is not just an Hotel, this is like being home (and a wonderful one). The Place is a small paradise of comfort and calm, right in the middle of the small and beautiful Valladolid. The staff is extremely friendly and competent and everything really feels like home. Amazing

Review 5:Hotel Posada San Juan is an absolutely beautiful hotel. It is located in an old colonial style house and is wonderfully maintained. The rooms are beautiful, huge bed, lovely decoration, great bathroom and shower. There are also a lot of lovely common areas to sit an relax on the patios. The staff are also very welcoming and happy to provide recommendations for the town. And the breakfast, delicious! I only wish we had've been able to stay longer and enjoy the hotel more.

Review 6:The staff were extremely friendly and helpful even though I don't speak much Spanish. The room was beautiful and loved the outside bathroom. Location is great, 10 minutes walk to the main square and off street parking provided.

Review 7:The owner is very friendly and helpful. The posada is really beautiful and the furnishings are really lovely and romantic. The location is perfect to walk around Valladolid. Breakfast was very good and nicely presented. Fantastic

Review 8:There is nothing not to like

Review 9:We were made to feel welcome from the moment we stepped into this amazing posada until the moment we left. Beautiful rooms and super attentive staff - I truly wish we had stayed longer. Thank you.

Review 10:My sister and I completed our 2-week Yucatan vacation in Valladolid. Hotel Posada San Juan was fantastic! Lovely, intimate setting--traditional, tasteful furnishings, spacious, comfortable rooms, patios, pool, and garden are beautiful and relaxing. Wonderful breakfast--gracious staff (they accommodated our 7:00 am tour departure one morning--eggs and everything!). Special kudos to Mario, who went over and above to help me replace medication I'd lost the day before, and was always at the ready to assist with suggestions and good ideas. We loved our stay here!

Review 11:The water in the pool wasn't very clear and it would have been nice to go for a swim to cool off after a day walking around in the heat. I book this place for that reason (the pool) so I was a little disappointed. The breakfast is served starting at 8 which is late when you want to go to Chichen Itza and beat the crowd but if you ask, they will serve it earlier... (Didn't realize that until last day...)

Review 12:Beautiful place, great and big rooms. Super clean. The will make you eggs if you ask for it at breakfast.

Review 13:What's not to like!!?? The hotel is a stunning old house, beautiful character and well decorated. So many lovely small touches that really make this place a one off. Our room was huge and so nice. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was delicious. Cannot recommend this place enough....best hotel we've stayed in Mexico yet!

Review 14:Not one!

Review 15:Marcus was a wonderful host, kind and helpful. The house staff was as well, and made the most wonderful breakfast of eggs, fresh fruit, bread and fresh squeezed orange juice. The linens and fine furniture were beyond compare. Agua pura in the bathroom as well as little hand soaps and fine toiletries. Everything was very well appointed. It is pricey but good for a spurge!

Review 16:The staff were very helpful, telling us all about a few interesting off the beaten track places, that we wouldn't have known about otherwise. And they offered to make us a lovely packed lunch so that we didn't have to worry about finding food along the way.

Review 17:Nothing

Review 18:Everything was amazing. Felt like we were staying in a palace! Very helpful staff, amazing clean big rooms and an outdoor shower! The garder area is beautiful with a pool and many comfortable seats. Breakfast perfect. The staff literally does everything to make your stay perfect

Review 19:- whilst the outside garden shower in the en suite was really innovative and different, the insects on the shower floor were a bit annoying. Harmless though!

Review 20:- friendly service: the weekend we were there the owners were also staying and they were so welcoming with so many helpful tips - location: 10 mins walk to town centre square ( straight down same road of hotel) - room really large and spacious - no need for aircon as fan so effective (although aircon available) - super clean and all round great stay

Review 21:Large airy rooms, fresh breakfast in the morning. The hotel and courtyard are very well maintained, and the decor of the hotel is great. Staff are all very helpful.

Review 22:Entry foyer underwhelming; we couldn't work out how to access the property at first (you need to ring a doorbell to get in and be let out of the property by a staff member); we booked for three nights and appeared to have been given one of the older and less impressive rooms despite there being low occupancy and having booked 4-5 months in advance - we queried this and were upgraded to one of the newer rooms upstairs for our last night (which was FAR better) the second room had an outdoor shower and more natural light; new towels needed; heaps of mosquitos so a net over the bed would have been amazing; wifi intermittent (mainly in our initial room); shower temperature extremely inconsistent! These things need to be tweaked - although I would still recommend a stay here as overall enjoyable.

Review 23:Outdoor shower in the room (although we didn't get this until we asked for it on our last night); honesty system for beer and soft drinks in the communal fridge; nice 24 hour pool; board games, books, hammocks and various other common areas to hang out in; impressive grounds with pretty garden; grounds keeper lovely and staff made delish eggs for breakfast; close walk to town.

Review 24:only complaint was shower water was luke warm. Not too much of an issue as we went in May when it was 35 celcuis

Review 25:Personsal touch, very clean, has all the basic necessities and clearly visible that management take pride in maintaining this hotel. Very friendly staff and only 5 minutes from center of town. Hammock in bedroom nice touch. Very spacious room with Aircon.

Review 26:The showers were a bit cool, but ours had an open roof so despite the cooler temps we still loved the shower.

Review 27:The hotel is beautiful and offers a perfectly relaxing refuge between exploring the many sights in and around Valladolid. Even better than the exceptional quality of the hotel, however, is the attentiveness and kindness of the manager, Mario. He and his staff were extremely helpful in making you feel like an old friend instead of simply a hotel guest.

Review 28:Nothing. Just be aware that the property is a short walk out of the main square (nothing strenuous!) and that the wifi can be patchy. Neither of these things detracted from our stay at all

Review 29:We had a lovely stay here and the hotel was a tranquil paradise after busy days exploring. In particular, the staff and the breakfast were outstanding and I couldn't recommend either more highly.

Review 30:Fantastic staff and setting. Mario and colleagues were so attentive, knowledgeable and friendy. Their focus was purely on ensuring that guests had a great time. Beautiful environment, the garden and pool provided the ideal place to relax after a day touring the sites.

Review 31:Unfortunately the city was replacing the road and sidewalks beside the hotel. As of April 23rd 2015 this should be finished in a couple of weeks. Although dusty outside the gates the staff worked tirelessly to keep ahead of the dust on the patios and common areas. The rooms were not affected, always spotless. Mario and his staff are awesome.

Review 32:Everything was fabulous, but our favourite thing about the place was the staff. We felt like family. After being there only 4 days, they were standing in different areas of the hotel but they all made an effort to wave goodbye. And it was genuine. We WILL return. We can't say enough good things.

Review 33:Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They offered good tips for restaurants and things to do in the area. The hotel is beautiful and newly renovated with a lovely courtyard and pool. Breakfast was a treat!

Review 34:Hotel was perfect, but there is lots of work going on in the street at the mo meaning a bit of noise and dust. It was great however to see the progress each day of our 3 day stay, the work men were all really friendly and it meant no traffic for the 5 min walk to the main square. It will look great when finished!

Review 35:Very chilled place, lovely staff. Very clean and comfortable rooms. Delightful garden with pool, very welcome after a trip to the ruins! Breakfast...fruit, toast, cereal, eggs and the best banana bread was perfect for us. Mario very helpful with advice on the area.

Review 36:Wifi was not working in the rooms due to a technical issue, but they were working hard to resolve it. There was a mixup with our room booking. We had booked a single King size bed room but got a double bed room. When we asked them about this, they told us that booking.com has an extra king size bed room listed in the web service that doesn't actually exist. They are trying to correct the error. The staff was very understanding and adjusted the price to compensate for the error.

Review 37:beautifully decorated, pool, clean and comfortable rooms, superb service

Review 38:Nothing but be aware of the building work currently going on in the surrounding streets

Review 39:Architecture: large rooms, design, beautiful patio and garden; Reception: welcoming staff, very helpful hotel manager.

Review 40:The feeling of privacy in a gorgeous setting, unpretentious, with helpful pleasant staff that made us feel welcome. Like having your own private villa.

Review 41:The Posada is lovely with beautiful little touches throughout the ,room and property. The staff was fantastic and made us feel right at home. Breakfast was also wonderful. I would highly recommend the hotel.

Review 42:It was an excellent stay and the owner/care taker Mario was fabulous. i would recommend this to all the people who are travelling to valledoid. i would rate it excellent!!

Review 43:Booked at the last minute for a trip to Chichen Itza, and stopped along the way to drop off bags. Met the owner, who was warm, friendly, and informative. Walking in the the doors and into the garden was great. Room and bathroom was beautiful. Felt very luxurious. Didn't get a chance to use the pool, but that looked very nice as well. A great hotel experience.

Review 44:Leaving

Review 45:The environment is colonial Mexican. You can swing in a hammock,or sit in a rocker , and enjoy a cup of complimentary tea while sitting in a tropical paradise. We loved it!

Review 46:This facility is lovely. Calle 40 is under construction and will provide convenient access to hotel when completed. Manager is most helpful and speaks french and English as well as Spanish.

Review 47:Everything is impeccable at the stunning yet subtle residence; there is such attention to detail, calm and wonderful staff. Also the best banana bread for breakfast!

Review 48:The wi-fi didn't have the best range

Review 49:We loved everything from the scrumptious breakfast to the colonial style architecture with the open courtyard & soothing pool. and Mario the manager was very helpful in suggesting spur of the moment activities!

Review 50:Mario the manager was tremendously helpful in helping us organize our too brief visit to Valladolid. Loved the garden, pool, veranda with hammocks, breakfast and outdoor shower!

Review 51:The room and the garden were beautiful (easy to compare with a 5 stars hotel). Our host Mario was impressive and very dedicated to his work. I will recommend this hotel for who wants a quiet place to relax.

Review 52:Warm, welcoming hosts with a genuine passion for the area and a willingness to share their knowledge of it, a tranquil, peaceful atmosphere, beautifully appointed rooms and shared spaces, delicious breakfast and fantastic staff. Everything a small hotel should be and more. Truly a gem.

Review 53:We had the pleasure of been looked after by both Alex and his mother Sarah. Posada San Juan is well located and it has a lovely homely, relaxed feel to it. Both Alex and Sarah were very helpful and knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

Review 54:Edgardo was very helpful. The hotel was clean and nicely decorated. The value for everything and the proximity to the center was superb.

Review 55:Gorgeous hotel, perfect location and very large, clean and comfortable room. Decoration was minimalist, but it felt luxurious. Strongly recommend.

Review 56:Everything - lovely little hotel. Very well run and was so good we stayed in Valladolid longer than planned

Review 57:Nothing.

Review 58:Great location. Beautiful house. The staff was great, bedrooms were very nice.

Review 59:nothing

Review 60:Hotel beautiful Friendly helpful staff

Review 61:The place is surprisingly charming and so artful and tasteful.

Review 62:Friendly and helpful staff. Charming hacienda in a great location.

Review 63:Lovely atmosphere, airconditioned rooms, and lovely outdoor shower

Review 64:No bad experience. Only tiny minus: the rooms are not well ventilated as they don't have large windows.

Review 65:Good area. Very clean and spacious rooms.

Review 66:Queen beds

Review 67:Fantastic friendly staff. Beautiful rooms and building.

Review 68:Great host! Very friend staff. Wonderful home made breakfasts. Great locations only a few minutes from the Square.

Review 69:Lovely room. Hammock and outdoor shower (but with mosquito netting). Beautiful garden.

Review 70:No complaints

Review 71:Everything - spacious, clean and elegant room, outdoor shower, lovely garden, service and breakfast

Review 72:none

Review 73:clean, quiet, rooms. friendly staff. good location

Review 74:Almost everything. The friendliness of the staff, the pool, nod the courtyard nd gardens.

Review 75:Their is no other Word than PERFECT ! Thank you again Posada San Juan

Review 76:Everything

Review 77:Intermittent internet connection

Review 78:Very cosy, friendly staff, good location, best breakfast of our trip, we loved the banana bread!

Review 79:The roadworks outside - should be finished soon though

Review 80:Large comfy bed with good linen

Review 81:huge rooms king size bed italian shower very clean nice staff good breakfast

Review 82:Everything....

Review 83:the city, the neighborhood, the staff, the pool, great wi-fi and use of kitchen, the other guests. The garden is a beauty.

Review 84:Internet didn't work inside the bedroom, if it wasn't for the hot weather (more than 34 degrees at night) that it would be a problem. The towels and bed covers didn't look very clean (lots of stains), but I'm sure they were clean.

Review 85:Excellent size of Bedroom, Staff very friendly and helpful Excellent air-conditioner and very silent (but only inside the room) Very good shower.

Review 86:This is a great find! This hotel only has 4 rooms arranged around a beautiful garden and pool area. It is very nicely decorated (high ceilings, well appointed bathrooms, very comfortable beds, nice linens, hammocks, beautiful tiles, and artful touches). The hotel is located just four blocks from the main square in a quiet neighborhood. The owner was very welcoming and made many useful suggestions about restaurants, local cenotes and other places to visit. Breakfast was delicious. We felt like we were staying at someone's home. There are welcoming places to sit and relax throughout the house and the large patio, with board games to play and beautiful books to enjoy. The kitchen is open and has an honor system for drinks. We wish we would have planned a longer stay...

Review 87:Leaving!

Review 88:Everything! This is a gem of a place. A stunning house with a wonderful welcome and feel. The rooms are large and lovely, full of beautiful little artful details. There are just four rooms, the perfect size for peace and quiet or for sharing chilled chats with a few fellow travellers. The sunny pool and shady garden with its banana and mango trees provide a gorgeous spot to cool off from the heat of the day, or relax in a hammock with a good book under the lovely lanterns in the evening. The owners and staff are warm, helpful and caring, we felt beautifully looked after - one evening we came back after a long day and Emilio made us hot tea and divine homemade banana cake. Breakfast was awesome - fruits from the garden with yoghurt and cereals, fresh juice, coffee and a selection of teas, toast, eggs, plus more lovely homemade cake - bliss! There's a big kitchen that guests can use, and a fridge stocked with soft drinks, wine and beer that you can help yourself to - just jot down what you've taken and settle up later. Plus free purified water in the room and in the kitchen. So many caring touches make for a magical and memorable stay.

Review 89:Breakfast minimul. Had to pay extra for an egg. They really could do better by offering an omelet and black beans at no extra charge. Although the room was excellent it was VERY noisy outside mainly at night. (Cars trucks motorcycles and music)

Review 90:Relaxing......Great value for a beautiful room and house. Michelle and staff was very helpful and friendly

Review 91:Fantastic experience. Felt like we were staying in a colonial villa and the service was impeccable. (Emilio, the caretaker, is amazing, and set up a special breakfast for us at 6am since we had to drive early to Cancun) The perfect home base for a stay in Valladolid, and just down the street from Casa de los Venados and the main square.

Review 92:1 rooms are very comfy but very basic. This is a great place to rest but don't plan on hanging out there (eg no TV, not that you need one) 2 at the advertised prices it doesn't compare favorably with the best know hotels in Valladolid and even near the Chichen Itza ruins 3 I recommend to avoid room 1 as it is right in the street so on the noisier side but not to the pint that you won't be able to sleep. Just enough for you to notice and maybe to wake the lighter sleepers from around 6am

Review 93:- fantastic service (flexible on the check in / out time, made to order breakfast) - the place is immaculate, te breakfast area is fabulous (albeit tiny), and the service impeccable, particularly the breakfast that's cleary prepared with pride

Review 94:Not applicable.

Review 95:The experience was wonderful, staff, rooms, service were all fantastic. The owner Sarah was there to greet us and offered information on the local Cenotes which we followed up on and had a wonderful time. We loved the fine detail of the house a fine mixture old and new. Sarah also warned our guests travelling with us the room they booked at the front of the house might be loud at night as there was a festival on during our stay. After a two night stay they found the room very comfortable and not noisy at all! Thanks to Sarah and her staff we had a fantastic time. We rate the Posada and a Five Star with Excellence.

Review 96:Location. It was a bit of a walk to the square. We had trouble communicating to the staff with our limited Spanish and no English was understood.

Review 97:Absolutely beautiful grounds and room. Delicious breakfast.

Review 98:This place is gorgeous : great design, spacious room, huge bed, nice bathroom, a lovely garden with a pool. The breakfast was perfect! Toast, homemade cake, local fruits, eggs... The hostess Michelle and her staff was extremely helpful with everything. At a few steps away from the posada was the Conato restaurant, a typical mexican cuisine - the best we ever had! Well overall, we loved it and I recommend this place at a 1000%!!

Review 99:Can't think of a thing.

Review 100:The physical facility is excellent. A traveller from the USA (e.g.) should not be put off by the fact that the city is very old and shows its age (which is part of its charm). The area is very safe, very hospitable. The best part for us was the co-owner/operator Michelle, a true delight. This inn is just beginning; it merits highest awards and should be a great success.

Review 101:Can't think of a thing. No TV but that was not a minus for us.

Review 102:Small hotel (4 rooms) in central location just a few blocks from main plaza. Nicely furnished air-conditioned rooms with comfortable beds and modern baths. Tasty, cooked-to-order breakfasts featuring Yucatan specialties are included in the room price. Hospitable, English-speaking owner Sara took considerable time to provide us with valuable information on the local scene and nearby attractions. Free protected parking and WiFi. Our best hotel experience in the Yucatan.

Review 103:only the traffic noise from the side street was a bit annoying (but thats part of the deal when living in the city)

Review 104:Wonderful little hotel. Highest rating from me. Clean, spacious and stylish rooms. Everything in good condition and as expected. Relaxing courtyard with swimmingpool. Very friendly and helpful staff/owner.

Review 105:Nothing. It was great

Review 106:Everything! Location, house decoration, staff friendly and helpful, room has air con and is super clean, breakfast is yummy home made and has all you need...... Really great!

Review 107:very friendly staff and familiar atmosphere

Review 108:there were a few mosquitos in the room when we got there

Review 109:Staff was professional and nice

Review 110:None

Review 111:It was a very calm cosy and secure place, lové it and would recommand it
