Reviews for Hotel Maria Guadalupe
Review 1:No one speaks English, that's not really a problem :) Just take a phrasebook, staff is very friendly and willing to help
Review 2:The hotel is near the bus station Staff is very helpful Good unexpected breakfast Rooms are nice and clean
Review 3:Despite appearances this was the most enjoyable place we stayed on our 3 week holiday in the Yucatan. The air conditioning in our room was so loud we barely slept and on the first morning there was only a bit of bread left for breakfast and on the second morning despite going for breakfast at 8 (breakfast was between 7.30 and 9.30) there was nothing left to eat and the staff refused to offer an explanation or source any more food.
Review 4:basic breakfast, Windows to the curtidores. and by the way, remove the lid in the shower completely...
Review 5:good location right next to the bus station. nice staff and big room.
Review 6:Windows didn't lock properly, had to ask to put a pole between so it would stay locked. lucky there was a safe. Ended up being all fine.
Review 7:Great little hotel, nice and friendly staff. We enjoyed the light breakfast every morning! Awesome location.
Review 8:Parking space limited. Breakfast very poor. Just couple of muffins and some fruits with coffee and no fresh milk. Hotel appears quite dirty, I woke up in the middle of the night on a cocroache crawling on my body. Bathrooms quite small.
Review 9:Wifi connection, front desk 24h
Review 10:The free car parking in front of the hotel, the staff is very nice, complimentary breakfast, the hotel is in the city center and not far from the cenote zazi.
Review 11:Great location (one block from central park), large rooms with nice design elements, fantastic lighting options, separate room for drying clothes, multiple plug-in options, fast + consistent wifi, relaxing rooftop lounge (with free pastries and coffee for breakfast - not listed but included), and friendly staff.
Review 12:Bathroom had small flies around the sink and toilet. Room had no windows except for a small glass air vent that opened up to reception so we kept it closed all night. The included breakfast that was advertised was poor - there was no fresh milk and they had run out of bread/pastries at 9am so someone had to get us some more bread slices. Only some bananas, mangoes and powdered milk for black coffee.
Review 13:Location was excellent for bus travellers as the hotel is located around the corner from the ADO bus station in Valladolid. Very good wi-fi connection, although we were in a room directly across from reception on the ground floor so this may be different for other rooms.
Review 14:Nice hotel with clean rooms and rooftop terrace with fridge, glasses etc, pleasant to sit and meet other hotel guests. Very good location - 3 minutes walking distance away from ADO bus station and similar distance from city center. Good Wi-Fi and nice staff.
Review 15:Breakfast was good and staff/manager excellent. When we arrived, they had overbooked. Management had booked us in down the street at a better facility and negotiated a better price while still having us for the free breakfast.
Review 16:Hotel was in technical breakdown and without water. Hotel advised me to go elsewhere and made a reservation for me. I rated the hotel to communicate with you.
Review 17:Reception clerk was super helpful but hotel could not provide accommodation!!!!!!
Review 18:Drainage didn't work in two rooms we had: 1) WC didn't flush in one of them, we left it "dirty" for cleaning after the first day and it seems nobody took care of it because the second night the clog was back and 2) shower (of the other room) flooded two days in a row and it was not solved (we think it needs major overhaul to solve it). We were just before peak season (last 2 nights before Christmas).
Review 19:Location, behind the main square. Staff was respectful but problems were not solved We received a late apology (by email) but that's not the way to reach customer satisfaction
Review 20:Breakfast: very basic Price: poor value for money especially if compared to other hotels in the vicinity
Review 21:Location - half-way between the bus stop and the main square WiFi speed
Review 22:we were completely abandoned for the breakfast. No one was there to help us. All the dishes and cups were dirty and forgotten in the sink. really bad!
Review 23:Nice terrace
Review 24:Although they say breakfast is included, it is not! Some old bread and yoghurt gone bad is a lame excuse to promote a complimentary breakfast, not even a cup of coffee. Guy at front desk could be more welcomming. Showerdrain didn't work propper so the room flooded after a quick shower, however the girl at the front desk took good care of it.
Review 25:Ok overall; basic hotel, good location, everything you need at an okay price.
Review 26:The bathroom was not comfortable at all, not very clean although it wasn't shared but private. The breakfast was more than poor: only few, old (!) sweet rolls.
Review 27:The location is really great and the stuff is also very friendly although they don't speak English at all, but you should be able to tell few sentences (at least) in Spanish while you in Mexico.
Review 28:Significant discrepancy between price advertised and what is actually charged when you check in with an illogical explanation to the reasons why. Staff seemed to be at lost regarding pricing and booking confirmation.
Review 29:Centrally located and very close to attractions. Good decor and facilities.
Review 30:As is kinda usual in Mexico the card payment machine wasn't working.
Review 31:Near the bus station and the zocalo. Great location for trip to chichen and cenotes and convenient for restaurants, shops and the cenote in town. Room was great, whole place seems to have been recently renovated with quirky designs. Breakfast was ok - breads, yogurts, fruit and coffee. shower was hot and had decent power.
Review 32:Room has no window, but they didn't write it to room conditions.Staff don't know English.Because of the lack of paper roll at card machine, they want to drawn twice. We solve this problem during check out in half an hour.
Review 33:Flush in room 3 didn't work which as you can imagine was not pleasant. Mediocre breakfast Uncomfortable beds Never any water in the communal area, had to ask for it every single time! Air con unit was sooooo loud and absolutely ancient
Review 34:Good location, 5 mins from main square and ADO bus station Large room Good shower Helpful staff
Review 35:-The air condition is really loud. -Breakfast is very simple. just some dry pasteries and a banana.
Review 36:-Very friendly staff at reception -Good location -Good value for money -Great safe in the rooms
Review 37:We had a room on the ground floor which was not clean. The sheets had stains. There was no window. We found a large cockroach by the door. The a/c unit was just by the wall and it was too noisy. The breakfast was unacceptable.
Review 38:The location. In the middle of the bus station and the central plaza.
Review 39:Nice and clean rooms. Clean sanitary. Very nice rooftop terrace and descent breakfast.
Review 40:Very loud rooms, most staff not speaking English
Review 41:Nice breakfast, good location
Review 42:Safe didnt work, towels were grey, ac didnt work properly - very basic for the price
Review 43:Good location, friendly staff
Review 44:staff couldn,t raise a welcoming smile seriosly overpriced for what you got.
Review 45:two minute walk from the bus station
Review 46:the beds were not very comfortable
Review 47:hotel was in a good location, staff was helpful and friendly, breakfast was not very much but at least fresh fruits
Review 48:Their cleanleness leaves a lot to be delired
Review 49:Location
Review 50:cant beat the price for the value. The decor is fantastic. Great spot. Would stay again.
Review 51:Breakfast was limited and not that exciting
Review 52:Very clean and comfortable. WiFi was strong. Highly recommend.
Review 53:breakfast made me speechless... room is dark...
Review 54:Breakfast was not very good.Only coffee and a couple of buns
Review 55:The room was nice. There was hot water in the shower
Review 56:breakfast not so good one of the staff refused to let use a toilet after having checked out
Review 57:location is close to ADO breakfast included
Review 58:Breakfast wasn't available at times advertised.
Review 59:Very clean and accessible.
Review 60:Slow/No WIFI.
Review 61:Small and quiet place with a central location. Friendly staff.
Review 62:Reserved 2 more nights, but when we came back after a day out were told no more availability and to leave immediately, appaling service.
Review 63:Value for money, very helpful staff (some of them with very good English and knowledge of the town), breakfast was not supposed to be included, but some "continental" was: coffee, yoghurt, pastries. And drinking water all day. Generally: simple hotel, but they do everything they can for reasonable price for the tourist to feel taken care of, which I found exceptional comparing to other hotels.
Review 64:For some reason our bill was 200 pesos more than it was supposed to be.
Review 65:The staff is very friendly and the rooms are a great deal for the price. Wifi is strong.
Review 66:Great location, helpful staff, fun and quirky decor. Great little rooftop terrace. Very well-designed and functional rooms given the slightly odd space. Loved that the AC extracts warm air into an air shaft where they've also provided a clothesline for drying your laundry. I reserved one night when I arrived and ended up staying four nights. Highly recommend this hotel!
Review 67:There was no hot water in the shower (but with the climate there this is not such a big deal... My girlfriend normally gets cold very easily but even she had no problem with the cold/room-temperature water during our brief stay there... Still, for longer stays I can see how this would be annoying.)
Review 68:Awesome little hotel, will definitely stay here again next time! I love the value for money - for a very reasonable price, we got a very large room, it was basic but it was clean, looked modern, and had everything we needed. Location is really awesome - literally a 3-minute walk from the ADO bus station, and another 3-minute walk from park right at the city center, very easy walk to the cenote, etc. WiFi worked whenever I needed it.
Review 69:Breakfast was decidedly average. No tea, no milk, a couple of stale pastries and yoghurt.
Review 70:Great location, a short walk from the bus station and close to the main square. Lovely terrace to enjoy the sunshine.Nice modern rooms, airconditioning a treat to get a bit of respite from the heat outside.
Review 71:The front entrance looks deceiving, unattractive, but just open the door, and it is nice inside!
Review 72:The location is very convenient, about a block away from the bus stop. And near the town center. The room was very comfortable and the wi-fi worked well.
Review 73:We arrived on weekend and owners not there so when we asked why water was cold, we're told they would check but nothing happened. But owner responded immediately when we told him so had hot showers half time we were there.
Review 74:Close to everything. Our room opposite was very quiet at night. Continental breakfast very good start to day. We loved city, quaint, unpretentious, plenty to see and do.
Review 75:Breakfast with fruit, coffee/tea and pastries was relatively basic, but not more so than in other places in Mexico.
Review 76:Excellent location, very polite and helpful staff, very well kept hotel with a mix of vintage and modern decoration. Really enjoyed it.
Review 77:Breakfast is very basic and unattended. I found the final price (536 MXN for a double room) higher than I expected based on the price advertised in EUR on the booking.com website, even including taxes
Review 78:In the city center. Very close to the bus station and main attractions. Large rooms with A/C, fan and safe.
Review 79:the breakfast was not the best. no bread for toast, just a sweet slightly stale bun!
Review 80:the room was very clean and comfortable with a good aircon unit over the beds so it didnt blow directly on you whilst sleeping.
Review 81:Two things in here: 1. Come early for breakfast, cause there will bealmost nothing left. 2. The towels in the room had holes
Review 82:Great location - close to the centre and bus station (althoughvalladolid is a really small place itself), nice design of the rooms.Reasonable price and even included breakfast. And of you look for aplace tp eat then go to Squimz - great food, pleasant stuff.
Review 83:The breakfast was worse than other low budget places we'd stayed at. The walls were thin so we woken up by noisy guests.
Review 84:The location was great, only a few minutes walk to the bus station. Rooms were clean and spacious.
Review 85:Breakfast could have been better but it was ok
Review 86:Very friendly staff who speak very good English; Great location in centre of town; Staff gave great advice on surrounding activities; Comfortable room with good AC/fan; Hot water in shower; Didn't find beds hard despite what previous reviewers have said
Review 87:Staff was a bit stubborn and Valladolid itself was relaxed but one midday was enough to see everything!
Review 88:Modern interior and room with van and airco! Location very close to center of valladolid!
Review 89:Like most places on this site, the price they advertise and the price you pay are not the same: in my case it was US$29 vs. US$37. Not too bad. I have to say: the beds really were pretty uncomfortable. It didn't really bother me, and usually I think it's silly how much people complain about beds in hotel reviews, but these were genuinely pretty bad, which seemed strange, because I think they're new and they even have nifty reading lights built into the bed frame. The breakfast is nothing special and they have an ant problem in the kitchen (not the rooms), but still I guess it was better than nothing.
Review 90:The place has a really cute modern decor, which is unusual for Mexican budget hotels, and that makes it easy to spot. The staff spoke English with varying degrees of proficiency, but were generally quite friendly. I came here for a cheap place with air conditioning, and it delivered that.
Review 91:At 185 cm (about 6'1") the bed was too short for me. Also they were in the process of building a communal area on the rooftop, so water entered our room during the night while it rained. Luckily neither us nor our things got wet, but it's still a bit strange to wake up with a big puddle next to your bed.
Review 92:Since the place was recently redecorated, the room was really pretty. Also the place is in a great location, easy to reach from the bus terminal and just a short walk to the main square. I also really enjoyed the LED reading lights in the beds! Breakfast is served in a restaurant around the corner and is rather nice, if standard (bread, butter, jam, fruit, coffee). We did have to ask for it though, otherwise nobody would have given us the voucher.
Review 93:English communication (as on most Mexico) is adequate at the most
Review 94:Best value for money, ado bus station is next square, the centrallplaza(zocalo) is 50mt away, really clean and spacious, not many roomsbut all are big and the inner courtyard makes them breezy and full oflight, best wifi reception, did not try the breakfast, recomended
Review 95:If you arrive later for the breakfast there is no more food and it is week. The door of the bathroom is fragil.
Review 96:Recent refurbished, well decorated. Staff are friendly. Near the ADO bus station and the principle plaza, but very silent.
Review 97:Towels were very old with threads hanging off them. No shower curtain meant a very wet bath mat!
Review 98:Good wi-fi, clean rooms, free toiletries were decent (palmolive shampoo and a couple of full size soaps), air con a nice treat. Breakfast small but sufficient (yogurt, fruit, pastries and coffee)
Review 99:should have stayed longer!
Review 100:recently redecorated - the design of the rooms are fantastic. Lots of outdoor space, so the room stays cool and breezy. Great staff. Breakfast included, with filter coffee. Very close to the bus station and the park.
Review 101:The lights were too weak. E had the room directly in front of thereception desk, and I must it was loud. The walls aren't thickenough to prevent you from having the impression you are just sharingthe games of the kids next door.
Review 102:Well located. Breakfast with fruits, but pastries dry enough.
Review 103:Rooms do not have much privacy, have a small tv, breakfast was verysmall, not too much food choice and starting only from 7.30 am.
Review 104:The hotel was clean and the staff very helpful when asked forinformation. Location was right in the city centre and close to bars, restaurants and bus station and sightseeing in the city, all inwalking distance.
Review 105:Good location, safety box in room
Review 106:Great breakfast
Review 107:Poor wifi.
Review 108:A lovely place, very clean. I liked the desine of the place
Review 109:Awesome hotel for the cost.
Review 110:Beds were ok, not great and our room was loud and close to the street
Review 111:Friendly staff, very clean kitchen
Review 112:The bed was super uncomfortable
Review 113:Very nice location, cheap, and very clean.
Review 114:Climatisation noisy, but it was just a detail!
Review 115:Super location, close to everything, clean and really nice desing in the room!
Review 116:The location was perfect. Less than two blocks from the ADO bus station and the town park.
Review 117:Often the FD was not manned
Review 118:Internet in the room, location
Review 119:It has a great location, near to the bus station and the city park. Clean and upbeat.
Review 120:Room windows are facing hotel lobby, natural light is therefore limited.
Review 121:In the city center, just a stone throw away from bus station.
Review 122:Little natural light in room
Review 123:Comfy, clean, all what you expect from budget accomodation
Review 124:good location, clean
Review 125:Beds a bit hard and I needed a blanket but they did not have any.
Review 126:Modern colourful and comfortable. Central but not noisy. Good breakfast.
Review 127:Location, including breakfast, frigerator, daily cleaned.
