Reviews for Hotel Zaci
Review 1:Wifi eventually worked but not well. Only window opened to walkway, so zero privacy unless you shuttered it, then no sunlight at all. They were understaffed.
Review 2:The parking was very good and central location. The room was clean, comfortable, and available when we arrived. If you are driving and you want to see the wonderful area around Valladolid, this is a great place to stay.
Review 3:The air conditioners are from 80s. Too loud so you have to choose between sleep and coolness. Earplugs won't work. The other rooms air co's noise kept us awake.
Review 4:The location was good, close to the main square and ado terminal
Review 5:staff: not friendly, not professional, ignore your complaint about serious noice at midnight, bad smell in the room and dirty washroom Room: very old building, poor air circulation, bad smell, especially the rooms on first floor.
Review 6:Close to bus station and main streets of the city
Review 7:Reception staff could not speak english, which is of course an issue we both shared as we could not speak spanish and we were in Mexico.
Review 8:Beautiful hotel and facilities for the price. Location was great also.
Review 9:The location is so convenient, you're only steps away from the bus station, town centre, market, church. I loved the fact that hotel Zaci was decorated in traditional style, so one feels like in Mexico. The grounds are very pretty too, with swimming pool, garden and fountain. All very clean.
Review 10:The only issue with the hotel was the bed is extremely hard. I have traveled all over the world and do not expect 5. Star hotels at this price point but this is the hardest bed I have ever had.
Review 11:Beautiful location. Valladolid is a great little town to visit. The have a nice little pool and the Air Conditioning worked great
Review 12:Breakfast at the hotel's restaurant was not very good, served instant coffee.
Review 13:Clean and quiet hotel within walking distance to most of towns attractions, bars and restaurants
Review 14:The location was great. Parking is important to us, and they have a perfect parking courtyard. The service at the pool side and at breakfast was outstanding. We enjoyed the peace and quiet and lovely ambiance. We loved Valladolid.
Review 15:Had to move around to other rooms because of stuff not working.
Review 16:In the end, this was a great hotel for the prove, but we had to move a couple of rooms. We booked the premium room. The first had a real bad smell which isn't uncommon I guess. Other reviewers mentioned it as well. Something to do with the drains and such. The next room didn't have functioning air conditioning or batteries for the safe. The last room had everything except the batteries for the safe. That was fine with us. Other than the moving around, the place was in a great location and a great value. Just request to see the room first.
Review 17:NONE of the reception staff should be in the service industry! Pillows and towels need upgrading. A wood furnace at the back of the hotel is used to heat the water and the smell of wood burning is sometimes noticeable.
Review 18:Very convenient location for downtown and the bus station, good facility, clean rooms and very nice pool and terrace.
Review 19:You could smell sewer gas in the bathroom in our first floor room facing the lovely fountain. Keeping the bathroom door closed help solve this problem. We double checked our bill & noted that we had been charged an extra day. We were reimbursed with out hesitation. Note the free parking that is listed is 4 blocks away.
Review 20:Good location...1 half block from ADO bus terminal & 2 blocks from the major park & tourist information center.
Review 21:Would have liked to use the pool but it some attention, lots of debris floating around with nobody to skim it out. Restaurant was ok for breakfast. Found the noise to echo and be a bit more of a nuisance as there is a constantly open window in the bathroom but we closed the door and slept well.
Review 22:Good location in middle of town, safe and reasonably clean. Staff were friendly, front desk spoke okay English to get our point across. Nice sunny terrace to sit on.
Review 23:Little bit loudly, especialy when at midnight yuong children started play football in the garden. Noise from the corridor, when somebody goes arround.
Review 24:Nice, clean, center of the town, nice pool. I would choose it again.
Review 25:I have never slept on a harder mattress. The AC made horrible noises. The room was musty. Woke up to the door of the room open (our valuables were not taken). Not sure if someone came in or if the lock on the door failed; we had double checked the lock before going to bed. Overall this hotel creeped me out. They charged a deposit for the remote control (weird).
Review 26:The common areas around the hotel were beautiful.
Review 27:We were accused of not paying the bill on our second night, even though we payed for everything when we checked in. I imagine this was a misunderstanding but nonetheless it wasn't the best customer service.
Review 28:The hotel is close to everything in central Valladolid. It's possible to walk to everything in the town. And free parking at the hotel makes it easy for travelling further afield. The hotel is also lucky enough to be surround by some excellent restaurants and a supermarket so it's easy to splurge or save.
Review 29:We stayed at Valladolid as our last night in the Yucatan region after an amazing few days in Tulum, Cozumel and playa del carmen. We decided to stay in Valladolid because it was close to Chichen Itza. We had such a great experience with very friendly and welcoming staff in our all stay that Hotel Zaci was very disappointing in comparison. We were not even welcomed at the reception, it seems like we were bothering the 2 ladies there. They gave us the key and told us that the room was over there. We were carrying so many bags and didn't understand where the room was. In all Hotels usually someone at the reception was taking us to our room. Here it was no the case. Confused we had to look for our rooms. When I asked for the wifi code, it seems like it was really bothering them to give us the code...The hotel is very beautiful with a lovely swimming pool and gardens but the rooms are very dated. It seems like the decoration has not changed for a good 20 years at well as curtains and bed covers. We then decided to ask the reception for a good restaurant for dinner in the area and they indicated "Las Campanas". This restaurant was truly awful. The good was disgusting and I believe not fresh but frozen. After walking around the city, we decide to sit close to the swimming pool and we realised that the restaurant actually had a restaurant we could have eaten in. So the staff at the reception was actually promoting this horrible Las Campanas restaurant while they could have promoted their own restaurant!!!We then spoke to the restaurant staff and they were very friendly and we spoke to them about the horrible experience we had with the reception.Overall this place has a good potential but reception staff needs to change or needs training. The reception could give black and white map to customers and indicated good places to go to like in every other hotels. Rooms need to be updated as well. This experience has been the worth we had in Mexico.
Review 30:Beautiful garden and swimming pool decor. Breakfast was very good value for money
Review 31:When we arrived there was no record of our booking. The lady on the deskwas quite testy when we tried to argue the point. She did loosen up whenwe agreed to take a room anyway. Very dated, may have been good init's day , not now.Could not recommend it. No refridgerator in room.No power points in room that were american adaptable. Could not charge, phone, tablets etc. Very inconvenient
Review 32:Location was close to ado terminal And plaza Did have good breakfast
Review 33:The woman at check in is horrible. After I waited 10 minutes for her to finish her phone call with her friend she laughed in my face and mocked me to her friend because I didn't speak Spanish, despite the fact she was shouting what she was trying to say in my face. Every thing is too much work for her and she rolls her eyes and huffs whenever you need anything at all. I'm sure she's been mentioned in previous reviews, it's the older woman, not the younger one (who was fine)
Review 34:The pool is great, the rooms were clean and of a good standard.
Review 35:Poorly maintained, the towels were in shreds, difficult to have a shower if you are on the second floor. Staff should treat customers much better, they were very very rude to us all!! Shame!
Review 36:Nice colonial building, well located if you want to do daily tours around the region.
Review 37:This place was awful. The staff spoke no English at all but also made no effort to write things down or use 'hands' to explain. Just rude. Air-conditioner was too loud to sleep with. Had to choose between being hot or listening to a loud truck like sound all night. Lumpy pillows and only 1 each. We needed more pillows or towels to elevate our feet(been at 2 ruins sites in 1 day) and she would not give us anything extra. No safe in room. No fridge in room. No hot water. Worst hotel ever.
Review 38:Staff didnt speak any English and I saw a few cokroaches in a few common areas. But maybe both points are related to thearea and cant be prevented.
Review 39:Nice pool, and even though next to a busy street it was quiet in the hotel.
Review 40:The room smelt of smoke, even though I requested a no smoking room The AC wS so loud that I couldn't sleep, I switched it off to use the fan but this resulted in getting a cold The downstairs rooms are noisy - you can hear people outside speaking as the hallway echoes, I was woken up at 3.30am in the morning.
Review 41:Great location, near the centre and the bus station
Review 42:Breakfast service was horrible. And after 6 pm they give the room away. So be carefull.
Review 43:Nice pool.
Review 44:Additional power point in the room would be nice for charging.
Review 45:good location, adequate size room and facilities such as pool and restaurant
Review 46:No English speaking, old rooms, dirty... and so on, all disappointing
Review 47:I would not have paid more than 20 USD for such poor hotel.
Review 48:Everything was fine
Review 49:Located near the center, and quiet
Review 50:Pool and location
Review 51:Well located, we stayed for a night and it was ok for the low price, we enjoyed the colonial hostel.
Review 52:It really was everything we expected, very clean and comfortable. The pool was refreshing, and the A/C worked almost too well.
Review 53:No air conditioning, so we had to use very noisy fan in our room. Foul toilet.
Review 54:Good location, friendly staff, free parking, comfortable bed.
Review 55:free parking lot in the back was mostly occupied by local cars
Review 56:nice pool area and close to the city centre
Review 57:We liked where it was located and the pool.
Review 58:really uncomfortable bad, room was like a church style incl. church smell
Review 59:Location, clean room
Review 60:The room was clean, cozy and spacey.
Review 61:Very nice hotel with swimmingpool and garden. Spacious rooms and very friendly staff.
Review 62:maid service was limited and no hot water for making coffee/tea/soup
Review 63:the pool area can be rather noisy at night
Review 64:location is perfect, staff very helpful, nice rooms, beautiful pool, clean and quiet
Review 65:Room smelt musty. No breakfast included
Review 66:They give towels with huge holes- not very presentable.
Review 67:Nice pool and great location.
Review 68:Our first room had a broken toilet. The beds were very uncomfortable. The rooms were dusty. Lounge chairs were falling apart. Filtered water station was always empty.
Review 69:Great pool. Nice courtyard. Parking in back. Good location.
Review 70:Both the fan and the air con made hideous noises - i needed to alternate just to manage
Review 71:location - great if you want to catch the bus and really close to the main square.
Review 72:The shower wasn't very good and the air con was very noisy.
Review 73:Staff very friendly and always willing to answer questions. Lovely pool. Great first impression of the building. Very clean place with staff always cleaning. A coffee machine or vending machine would make it better.
Review 74:Hard beds (relatively common in the places we stayed in Mexico but these were particularly bad) Hotel gives you a very poor exchange rate - keep this in mind when comparing price to other hotels. The exchange rate they use will probably inflate your actual cost by about 10%. You'd be better off paying when you book rather than waiting to pay when you arrive. Whether you pay cash or credit card, they use a terrible exchange rate to determine how many pesos you owe. Looks good when you book in USD but ends up more expensive than you think it will be because of the exchange rate they use. Also be aware that 19% tax is NOT included in the price listed (16% federal, 3% city tax). All in all, increase the USD price you see by 30% and that's roughly what you'll actually end up paying.
Review 75:Central location Nice pool, big enough to have a decent swim around. Free drinking water provided near the pool. (Found this to be fairly common practice at Mexican hotels) No noise issues Air con and overhead fan in our room (think we paid a bit extra for a room with air con). Air con worked well (we found this wasn't always the case in Mexican hotels).
Review 76:It certainly could use a refurbishment. Bathroom was in poor repair and furniture in rooms very old and warn.
Review 77:Pool was excellent. Beds were firm without being hard and mattress seemed like new.
Review 78:A wash cloth would have been nice. But hard to complain for the price and locale ~ a very old town.
Review 79:Zaci is on the same block as the ADO bus station, and very central in the town, and only 5 blocks from the Cenote, where swimming was available. The pool was a treat. Once inside, the building is handsome - a fountain right outside our window. Very friendly and helpful staff ~ but with our Spanish or Mayan being non-existent, as good as can be expected.
Review 80:Nothing really.
Review 81:Nice hotel room and pool area was nice to relax by. Really close to Plaza and bus station and perfect for getting bus/collective to Chichen Itza and beating the crowds.
Review 82:The beds had stained linens and I think my daughter got bed bug bites. The hotel did not have a restaurant or bar so I thought it would have been nice to have a continental breakfast such as coffee, tea, and pastries in the morning.
Review 83:The hotel was the best that I saw in Valladolid. This is not the Hyatt, but it is beautiful and charming with a serene courtyard. It is walking distance to the center of town and right next to the bus station. Quiet at night for sleeping. Relatively clean rooms. Free Wi-Fi which made it easy to plan great day trips to Chitchen Itza, Ek Balam, and several nearby cenotes.
Review 84:Pillows were horrible, we have used towels instead pillows, AC is not working good but the air vent was ok. Bathroom tent was lacerated on the top so we could use only half of the tent. Such a shame for 3* hotel.
Review 85:Very nice hotel from outside, rooms are little bit dark (lights did not work), size of the room is ok. Good location, walking distance from the center and you can park in front of the hotel if you have a car.
Review 86:shower and toilet share same tile floor so it becomes wet. air conditioner setting didn't seem to affect performance, tiny ants got into one of our bags and we had to empty it all out, the only hotel in our 10-day trip that required me to show my passport, no face towels available, had to wait until next morning for jug of purified water to be replaced, no clothes hangers in room.
Review 87:convenient location, virtually next door do ADO bus station, close to very nice cafe.
Review 88:The bathroom was oddly designed, one could sit on the toilet and shower at the same time.Hot water and water pressure are poor. We had 4 people in our room and had to argue with housekeeping to get a 4th towel(there were only 3 in the rm). There are better places close by for the same price.
Review 89:Location of the hotel is very convenient to the ADO. The reception staff was friendly, the pool was clean.
Review 90:No bar, restaurant or laundry facilities. Bed linen shabby and worn. Lack of hot water in the evenings.
Review 91:Good fan and aircon. Excellent location round the corner from the bus station.
Review 92:Very dirty and old room with old and dirty bed ware No AC plugs only 1 in room that tv was connected, tv without remote No face towels, no slip mat I almost fell down Found a cucaracha Went at night to the reception and there was only a kid there that didn't speak English
Review 93:Location
Review 94:Reception staff spoke little or no English, and weren't overly helpful.
Review 95:Central location near bus station, but quiet and peaceful. Lovely hotel architecture and pool big enough to swim in. Excellent value for money, clean and comfortable. Easy access to Coba, Chichen Itza and Ek Balam by bus or collectivo.
Review 96:The shower was warm, not hot. The charge for the room was considerably higher through Bookings than if I'd gotten it myself. The hotel did reimburse me the difference when I booked two days extra after bringing it to their attention.
Review 97:It's in a terrific location & the common areas including the pool were very nice.
Review 98:The room was a bit dark because only the over head light worked and the light next to the bed was out. Beds were quite hard. Also, they're was a family of pigeons living in or close to our air conditioner..I'm sure it was just our room but let's just say it was hard to sleep in.
Review 99:The hotel was in a great location, only a few blocks from the main square. Staff was nice, didn't speak much English but that's only expected. Bathroom was nice.
Review 100:The biggest drawback of this property for me was the outlets!! My computer cable requires an outlet with a ground (three holes) and the only outlets in the rooms are the two hole kind. (There is a three-hole plug in the kitchen area by the pool.) Also--bring your own towel.
Review 101:This hotel was affordable, in a good location (with parking!) and the well-kept pool provided relief from the Yucatan heat and humidity. If you're looking to be pampered, this is not your hotel; but if you want a safe, simple place to stay for a good night's rest and easy access to the main square, this is it.
Review 102:- unhelpful staff - old and dirty rooms - unsafe parking - broken toilet. we asked to fix it, but it didn't helped. had to use water jar. - no wifi
Review 103:By far the biggest (and really the only) complaint was the bed, it was very hard. We woke up we back aches. The only other small complaint is that no one spoke ANY English. ...But that is really a small complaint. The staff was always nice and smiling.
Review 104:The hotel looks impressive. Every time we walked through the lobby towards our room we were greeted with an excellent view of the fountain and pool. The maid always did a nice job every morning. The hot water worked most of the time.
Review 105:By reading other reviews around the web is clear to me that if you get an accomodation in the upper floors the rooms are fine however if you end up on the ground floor near the reception you are up for an horrible stay. The picture on this site are misleading as they don't show the room that you are getting... Dark, damp, mouldy, smelly, noisy, full of mosquitos and broken air conditioning unit!
Review 106:Probably only the location
Review 107:We had a superoir room on the 3rd floor. There was NO RUNNING WATER in the en suite bathroom, so we couldn't take a shower in the morning and were barely able to wash our hands. Also, no breakfast provided, you have to go elsewhere.
Review 108:The location is great: right in the old city center with free private parking.
Review 109:Our shower was more of a Chinese Puzzle Box than a tool for hygiene. When we did finally get it to work, sparse results. Very low water pressure. We didn't report the problem.
Review 110:The pool felt great after a day of touring ruins. And, it's on the same block as the ADO bus station.
Review 111:Not very clean, too far out of town, needed a taxi every time to go into town which is 15 .mins away.
Review 112:The view Comfortable bed. Very nice people and service.
Review 113:Fake photos for the Standard Twin room! The room I was given was indecent, dusty and shabby, with very old, noisy and dusty air conditions. I've asked for a room with wrought iron bed frame as saw in photo and the receptionist said they have none! I had to upgrade to the Premiere Twin room, which was very clean and comfy. But I felt cheated.
Review 114:Central position, just 5 minutes walking from the main square, nice refreshing pool and colonial courtyard. The second room was nice and comfortable.
Review 115:Hotel staff speak little/no English. The showers are pretty much a trickle of cold water and no tea/coffee.
Review 116:The location is brilliant. Small 3 star properly that is clean & comfortable. Very pretty inside the building with a pool area and free wifi.
Review 117:No complaints
Review 118:The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Plenty of hot water andthe ac worked well. The location was perfect; right next to amenitieslike a bodega, restaurants, bus stop, etc. The pool was a great way tounwind after a hot day of exploring this fabulous city.
Review 119:No dining at the hotel, although there are plenty of dining options close-by.
Review 120:Excellent location for exploring central Valladolid, short walk to main square. Check-in was easy even though English not spoken. Room was clean and odor-free. A/C, ceiling fan and shower worked well. Pool was a welcome break from the heat. Free parking out back. No problems whatsoever.
Review 121:We liked the location - Hotel Zaci is within walking distance of the bus station and the main square. The pool was lovely to come back to at the end of the day.
Review 122:Toilet smelled like a sewer. Personel didn't speak any english, faily polite but not more than that.
Review 123:Very clean, fairly comfortable hotel. At the quality fair at the price.. You dont get more than you pay for.
Review 124:There is not hot water all the time, they heat it with a wood furnace! They start the fire after 4pm
Review 125:They have a parking and a swimming pool in the center of the city.
Review 126:the water pressure was very low and the matresses were a little bit hard and the room had only blinds no windos thus if the blinds were closed it was very dark insinde
Review 127:the hotel was very clean, good roomservice, very good location (close to the ADO terminal and close to the Zocalo), nice staff, nice swimmingpool, we are definitely recommending the hotel. There are many things to do and see around Valladolid.
Review 128:Fantastic location, easy to find, right in the center. Very very closeto collectivo taxis for Ek Balam ruins and beautiful cenote and anothercenote within walking distance from the hôtel. Beautiful incourt wardwith pool.
Review 129:Noisy air condition, unfriendly receptionist, rooms could be rennovated
Review 130:Nice swiming pool, good location (5 min walk to main square), privateparking behind the hotel
Review 131:Nice hotel with big pool in the center of Valladolid. Clean and quiet, good for visiting the city. Free parking lot. Really good place for resonable price.
Review 132:Very little furniture (one chair only, although there were two doublebeds), no ice on the premises, hard to get the water to run hot in theearly morning.
Review 133:Nice big rooms, comfortable beds, quiet enough, on-site free parking, good downtown location, attractive swimming pool, balcony to sit on tohave breakfast picnic.
