Reviews for Grand Riviera Princess - All Inclusive
Review 1:Poor wifi Mosquitos My three children under 16 were told that they could not stay in a family room even though the room advertised max occupancy of 6 and had bedding for 6. We were made to split my family up and pay for two rooms. The water at the beach was not clean and it had an awful smell. There were towels taped to the floor. To prevent people from slipping. Bottom of pools had patches of tiles missing. Exterior of hotel is shabby and needs work done
Review 2:Staff were friendly
Review 3:We had a great experience with the hotel. There are two sides to it: the Princess Riviera and The Princess Sunset. Riviera is more family (little kid) focused and the Sunset a little nicer. We were booked as the Platinum level which was worth every penny - better rooms, better service, better restaurants. The best part of our stay was meeting and working with the head concierge, Angelica. She was truly an angel to us and made our stay all the better. Thank you, Angelica!!!
Review 4:The Wi-fi connection in the Platinum suites was very poor
Review 5:The direct access to the beach, the vast variety of food offered, the high amount of locations within the village that allowed to have every day a different experience
Review 6:Meals were never delivered correctly. Entrees not ordered, desserts not delivered, perks promised not delivered. No aromatherapy in room. Never got ice delivered when asked. Temp was set too cold at 10 degrees.
Review 7:Celebrated anniversary and housekeeping was wonderful in doing swans and rose petal three out of four days. Bar concierge were incredible
Review 8:Was very disappointed by the food. The buffets were the worst by far. Too many food selections and therefore all tasted average at best. The themed restaurant food was much better but still could improve on flavor.
Review 9:Stayed in the Villas and it was wonderful! Clean, beautiful, great amenities/benefits, and a relaxing private pool. Great honeymoon choice!
Review 10:Wifi, room service, unlimited towel service not available, swim-up room not private everyone who did not pay for a swim-up were splashing around our area that we paid for. Will go back to La Perla instead and recommend to all my hospital staffs here in US. And could not eat at any of the restaurants cause they were all booked before ever arriving to resort. No staff friendliness. La Perla staff knew our names and favorite drinks.
Review 11:The nightly shows were ok.
Review 12:This was the worst travel experience I have had. Right when we arrived at the resort we were told our rate was $2700 USD when it was $1725. I had to produce the email from the hotel to prove it and thank goodness my friend and I had our laptops with the email. The food was terrible. From a cultural standpoint there was very little authentic Mexican food. The food particularly at the a la carte restaurants was exceptionally poor and at times inedible (e.g. fatty steak; overcooked rubbery chicken breasts; desserts mostly gelatin, etc). Both my friend and I became sick on the last day and have been sick since (5 days now). I was extremely sick my flight home and that was 15.5 hours of air time and I have missed work since I got back. The drinks were laden with sugary syrups rather than fruit. None of the bars (except beach bars and platinum) offered any food of any sort. No taco stands, no chips and salsa at pool or patio bars. We had to go into Playa Del Carmen to get a real Mexican meal and margueritas. They have a market on Thursdays and the vendors actually tell you that if they are not honest that the hotel will not allow them back. A vendor was selling glasses and told us he and his brother made them and showed us pictures. We found them in town the next day at several stores for 1/3 of the price. Spoke to the hotel and they advised that there was nothing they could do rather than assuring us that this vendor would not be allowed to return. The hotel refused even on the last day to exchange pesos for USD. The banking machines were frequently down. We paid the upgrade to Platinum to have the Jacuzzi on our patio. The hotel was bringing up the seaweed from the beach and put it into a ditch/lagoon right in front of our rooms where it decayed and rotted. The smell was so bad that we could not go out on our deck; could not use the Jacuzzi and could not open our patio doors.
Review 13:The location
Review 14:Not consistant with the quality of food with warmers in buffet and certain days of the week better than other days. Jose Cuervo & El Jimador was their brands of tequila. Should be better choices in many catagories. In room hot tub inoperable and dirty around the spouts. Don't go to sales pitches unless you plan to invest in the Royal Princess corp! Slippery marble floors when raining or wet. Be careful!!
Review 15:Nice property and seems to be pretty well maintained.Pretty well organized too. Great entertainment at night. Fun bands.
Review 16:The taxi service (aka golf carts) for the guests on the property wasn't great. They definitely need more. The property is quite huge and for those who can't walk long distances, had to wait for long periods of time.
Review 17:The hotel was beyond amazing. I would recommend the pool side access rooms. The food and staff was great. We will be definitely going back.
Review 18:One of my he concierges at The Platinum name Carolina was very rude and try to make our stay miserable. I was very disappointed to see the big contrast with a the rest of the personal. I didn't like the juices for breakfast they were not natural and tasted horrible.
Review 19:The staff, everyone was very polite and professional and made me feel at home. I love to stay at The Platinum area, our room was beautiful and always clean and with beautiful towel decorations/flowers and chocolate to end our day.
Review 20:The room attendance when remaking then room could have been better, a few things missed but nothing dramatic that affected my stay. Checking in took too long but the drink service while waiting helped.
Review 21:I had the most amazing time at the hotel. So much to do, lots of activities and entertainment. The resort is HUGE! the pool was fabulous, the beach water was abit smelly but once you got to the clear blue water area it was fine. The food was excellent in all buffets and restaraunts I tried! 100% happy! staff were lovely and helpful and spoke English very well also!
Review 22:Private concierge was not very helpful. The regular concierge would not even answer questions since we had the private concierge. Front desk takes so long for checkin, unnecessarily long. La hacienda was not good at all. The sushi was not very fresh, obviously prepared well in advance. Mama Mia was good.
Review 23:Pools were nice, Laguna villas were nice.
Review 24:Wow!!! We definately got more than we paid for here! Everything about it was all we needed and more. Fantastic food, staff, rooms, pools, everything!!! Would definately come back and recommend to others. Ideal for families, young couples, older couples, anyone!
Review 25:Additional charge for the internet these days is annoying, even if you pay the WiFi does not work at the pool only in the rooms and lobby
Review 26:Nice and helpful people working there
Review 27:The concierge would only direct you to the taxis for transportation when other options were also available.
Review 28:The resort was very well kept and the employees were very eager to please.
Review 29:The pillows were too hard for my tastes and the property was huge so that meant a lot of walking. Also the gym could use a proper cable machine.
Review 30:Food and drinks were really good. It was really easy to find something that I liked at the buffet. The staff was excellent and very accommodating.
Review 31:Although there was a good selection of foods from the buffets, the restaurants were disappointing. The food was VERY bland and small portions. After each dinner, we needed to get food from the sports bar.
Review 32:The staff was amazing. They were very attentive and a pleasure to interact with. Also the premises were immaculate.
Review 33:Did not like when we left the resort. Not to passengers, stay on the resort.
Review 34:Staff was friendly, Food was overall good. I don't think they should have more meat options for those that do not eat beef or pork. Overall we both loved the resort.
Review 35:- Everything is poorly kept, from buildings to pools. - All inclusive property but food quality is really poor. Big portions but no quality. Restaurant at breakfast was often dirty, floor was sticky and stained same as chairs, leftover from previous night. - Service is non existent. You ask the same question to three different staff people you'll get three different answers. No standards in any department.
Review 36:The hotel has a large grounds and many pools
Review 37:The hotel charges you the wifi! 20 usd per day and device or 50 uds per 3 days!! Just the platinum guests have free wifi!! Something in my room with no value dissapear and the hotel staff did not do too much.
Review 38:Nice beach in front of hotel, different restaurants with high capacity for all the guests and really good rooms.
Review 39:We were on our 1st year anniversary trip. Our anniversary was actually on Sunday September 20. The staff was pretty assertive in pushing a sales pitch on that Sunday which was our first day at the resort. We thought this was a bad idea and the timing was really bad. You may want to look at giving guests an opportunity to experience the resort before pushing a sales pitch on them and don't do it on their anniversary. A big turn off
Review 40:very attentive and polite staff.
Review 41:Only complaint is that the restaurants weren't always open for the hours listed. Made a reservation for dinner and we were never told that the location was closed for renovations and where we should go instead.
Review 42:The pools close at 8:30. Which is ridiculous in my opinion. So many times we wanted to go for a swim after dinner and the pools were closed and the beach is pitch black.
Review 43:The staff was amazing. Room service was prompt. Bar around every corner. Awesome theatre.
Review 44:Buffet food was horrible, too many kids everywhere, random room servicecharges at the end of our stay. Not enough activites.
Review 45:Beautiful beach, great swim up bars, great reservation restaurants!!
Review 46:mosquitoes, mosquitoes, mosquitoes!!! Mostly in room at night....counted 25 one time on ceiling.....BUT.....called and someone sprayed right away..... should offer accommodations for people with walking issues...i.e. scooters, walkers,etc....I did rent a walker from playamobility.com but didn't get till 2 days before I left....
Review 47:walking into pool from room! friendly staff! good variety at buffets.
Review 48:not having internet, check the price of paid internet and seem too expensive.
Review 49:everything,its beautiful, love the pools, the nightly entertainment, the food and love the beach.
Review 50:One of the concierges was not very friendly/helpful.
Review 51:Platinum suites was worth every penny. Near the beach plus concierge service. We had our adult sons & 2 granddaughters (11 & 13) so all-inclusive was great.
Review 52:Food is horrible!!! Room was always dirty and the maid constantly left our patio door unlocked!! Again.....food is horrible. Buffet, restaurants... All of it. Hot beer....very watered down drinks. Just nasty!!
Review 53:Lots of beautiful birds and iguana's. Pools were nice.
Review 54:Things weren't explained on arrival as to what was included in my package. I wasn't shown the location of my room so I was wondering around the grounds for over 30minutes in extremely hot weather. It took 90minutes for my bags to arrive in my room. On departure it took 45minutes for someone to collect me and my bags. Wifi is terrible and charged at a premium rate but hardly works & only at reception. Staff communication was very poor. Hotel really only catered to Americans as everything charged in $US despite being in Mexico
Review 55:Food is average, but expected when in an all inclusive.
Review 56:Staff is amazing and accommodating. The rooms are very nice as well, we had a Junior Deluxe Suite with pool access which was convenient. Great entertainment. Excellent value for your money! Overall, we had a great time! Thank you, GRP.
Review 57:Check in took too long, the beach was bloomed with algae, there is no free Internet and you had to wake up really early if you wanted a beach chair, even in the pool area
Review 58:The facilities, the different types of restaurants
Review 59:Waiting for the shuttle was annoying especially when it was full and you ended up waiting for an additional 15 minutes. The addition of a second shuttle would have been very helpful!
Review 60:We really liked the beach and the size of the room. Concierge was very helpful!
Review 61:I had an amazing time in at The Princess Riviera. Me and my family went and stayed there for my birthday May 28-June 2... The Staff was awesome. Everyone spoke to you; good morning, afternoon and evening....and almost everyone spoke English perfectly. The grounds are emacculant.. Someone was always cleaning and sweeping. There are so many pools and plenty of beach for you to enjoy.. They also have someone barbecuing there everyday and a beach bar right next to it so there's no need to walk back to the hotel.. The clubs were really fun and the DJ played Top 40. There's also a sports themed bar with pull tables and snacks... This place has it all.. During the day they also offer different activitities throughout the resort such as archery, snorkeling lessons, valley ball, and salsa lessons.. We stayed in the Platinum rooms which were great. The views were nice, the lobby was great, there were computers for use and a bar with small snacks and desserts. Did I mention everyone was friendly! We had our our butler that handled our reservations and gave us the best service possible. When your platinum you get free wifi but only in the platinum areas. It doesn't work that well either but we were out and about anyway... The entertainment was great and had something for everyone. I could go on and on about this place and we had such an amazing time. I definitely recommend this place and will be back soon!
Review 62:if you stay close to the main lobies you have alot of walking to the beach and the pools to far from shoppingto far from regular transpotation allways taxis
Review 63:nice lots of things to do friendly real clean super buffets great variaty of food
Review 64:Buffet food is poor quality and staff @ the buffets doesn't look happy most of the time. Furniture is dirty and stained. Some hostess @ the restaurants and security staff are rude, they really gave us a bad time. Staff lack of motivation and proper training to do well their job specially cleaners as it seems that the staff doesn't know how clean a hotel has to look. Drains in the toilets stink horrible and is disgusting specially in the morning when having breakfast. Unfortunately the type of guests of this hotel get drunk and are very noisy all the time, even at night they woke us up few times around 3am during 14 days of our staying. This hotel is too big that it feels like being in a busy city, making quae for everything and pump into people all the time. We heated that you have to book by person for dinner so you have to walk all the way to the reception to book your dinner in a decent restaurant. Also they have a policy for men that doesn't allow them to wear shorts but women and children up to 14 years old are allow to wear shorts :@ men can wear jogging pants and scruffy cloths if they want to as long as they are not wearing shorts, which is annoying because my husband couldn't wear casual shorts and still looking presentable 'poor him he had to get change after dinner'
Review 65:Mama mia & Vaqueria Restaurant fresh fruit in breakfast buffet Adults beach
Review 66:Staff was very nosey, would enter your room immediately after they knocked wouldn't wait for you to reply!!! All inclusive...... I think not worst hotel I've stayed at by far!!!
Review 67:Nothing
Review 68:It was a bit of a walk to get to the beach from the villas. Probably about a 1/2 mile and took about 15-20 min. Not bad though. Grab a drink along the way and you're there in no time.
Review 69:The resort was very nice. Quit large with plenty to do. We ate at a different restaurant each night. I highly recommend the villas. Lots of added luxury for little added cost.
Review 70:Beach was a little dirty and rocky
Review 71:Having a swim out room was amazing! Loved everything about the rooms. Good food at a la Carta resturants and great staff
Review 72:Some of the security guys ware acting as they own the hotel. No respect towards the guests. Dealing with them was absolute nightmare and we never heard 'sorry'. In fact the Security Manager told us that they have too many people in the Resort and we ware just a number.
Review 73:We were much enjoyed large swimming pool, there was always space for everyone. Platinum rooms ware nice.
Review 74:Beach is like a swamp so much sea weed and rocks! Air conditioning did not work properly even after the "maintenance" people tried to fix it three times ( kid with a plunger on a bicycle), Busy place, Buffet did not have any good seafood or proper steaks for dinner.
Review 75:The pools are nice, Some of the food was ok.
Review 76:Upon arrival they "lost" our reservation but found us a room in the family section - not the ideal situation for a mother who was on a girls' trip. Met some other couples that this happen to as well. Beach access wasn't very big and loaded with seaweed so we didn't get in the water. Resort is very big and it take about a 10 minute walk to get to the restaurants and even longer to the beach (although there was a shuttle it only ran every 15 minutes). Wifi was horrible - couldn't get a good constant connection anywhere!
Review 77:The hotel was beautiful and well maintained. Very nice pools and beach access. The mexican and french food was tasty with lots of options.
Review 78:Not all rooms have wifi - and if you want it, you have to pay $80 for the week! That's more than I pay in a month at home! The people that would leave their garbage/drink glasses behind!
Review 79:The weather and the landscaping of the Resort!
Review 80:They had horrible food it made us sick. The wifi never works. They charge extra for everything the food was so bad that we had to eat off the resort. When we tried to check out they put hidden new charges and wouldn't let us leave till we paid. I paid 5009$ in advance and had to pay an extra 500$ before we could leave. We missed our flight and was forced to stay in the airport and then had to pay for another room somewhere else. The staff was nasty with us and the beach is murky and disgusting
Review 81:When we arrived nothing was explained, we had to wait 45 min for the trolley to take us to our room. This service was always late and many people we heard complaining. A lot of walking, beach is very rocky staff seemed to be overwhelmed so service was sometimes slow.
Review 82:Everything here was just OK. The resort we went to last year was better although not perfect so, we tried this one.
Review 83:Not a bad experience, but the food in the restaurants was just ok. Signing up for dinners was painful.
Review 84:Location was great, fresh fruit and salads amazing. Swim-out room was really awesome, room was large and roomy.
Review 85:Even though we stayed in a Laguna Suite with WiFi, it didn't work very well for the most part. Staff tried re-setting modem etc, however, this didn't rectify the problem. Also, the air-conditioning was very loud/noisy in our room. So much so, that we could not sleep with the AC on. As you can imagine, it gets very hot in Mexico. Maintenance staff looked at the unit twice, and we were told that this noise was normal. Im not convinced of that!!
Review 86:Nice facilities and beautiful staff
Review 87:The resort. The help. The atmosphere. The disconcerting attitude. The watered down liquor. The broken wifi. The a/c didn't cool. The mini fridge was locked.
Review 88:Bad service. Hotel Staff were rude with us several times. Cold food in some restaurants. Platinum bar in the villa is just cheap alcohol. Restaurant reservations are inconvenient.
Review 89:Great facilities, nice platinum area on the beach with all day buffet and bar.
Review 90:Wifi could be better for the price but there are ways to use it for free The food is less than average
Review 91:Located close to all attractions Wonderful territory: a lot of trees, animals and birds Very good beach with several zones In general very very nice place to stay
Review 92:The pillows were way to hard for my taste and ended up in a painful neck and back. The resort was so amazing but maybe a littlebit too big. If you are not a good walker or in a hurry you have to take the train that is going back and forth on the resort which I didn't find like. If you are going to have a train, you should change to electric trains. The communication between concierge and restaurants should can also improve
Review 93:The reseort was amazing with lots of pools, lots of restaurants with a great variation and an amazing spa. It is right on the beach with lots of facilities and things to do. We also played tennis which is free of charge and they fill up the minibar free of charge. I can recommend this hotel to families with children.
Review 94:Need a tissue box in the bathroom, mama Mia food is slow, need a little more furniture, need a restaurant starting earlier than 7, need a couple more towel stations, check in and out need to be simplified, wifi is too slow
Review 95:Grand buffet is great, pool is great, garden is beautiful, concierge is great
Review 96:Badly understaffed at buffets & bars especially sports bar. Buffet food was rarely hot. Al a carte restaurants were not great either. Overpriced retail outlets.
Review 97:Clean rooms, lots of Pools
Review 98:Italian Restaurant at resort will be a waste of your time... mamma mia I think was the name of it. do not order the calzone!
Review 99:Steak House A+++++ Sports Bar that no one really knows about was great for the men Buffet food was always fresh Seafood Diner was 5 star
Review 100:Quite simply, everything was to our liking. We have an 11 year old son who is disabled and they went out of their way to help us in every way possible.
Review 101:Would like to see a few more food options for the vegetarians. Especially difficult for a vegan/gluten free diet person.
Review 102:Enjoyed the clean and comfortable rooms, great access to the beach. This is a large facility with various restaurants, lots of pools and a ton of people working to make sure you have what you need. Found the access to beach and water to be great. The new family club area for our little ones kept them happy. Great vacation.
Review 103:I didn't like the check in/ check out process. This is an averagely priced resort, ideal for vacation packages. The resort next to it (Velas) is pricier, and much more exclusive. Personally, I prefer smaller hotels with more character.
Review 104:I liked the room, the food choices in the buffet, the beach, the tennis courts. Most of the guests in the resort consisted of families and groups of friends.
Review 105:Checking in was way too long only had one person at front desk and the wifi was Not good I paid for it and could only use it in main lobby it it would take too long to connect
Review 106:Paid wifi, romms were not clean, they used towels to clean the floor from the cealing leaks when it rained, each phonecall to US was 75$ the first 10 minutes even if you just spoke for 1 minute. We changed hotels and they did not want to remburse the nights we did not stayed with them! On and all you can get a much better hotel for less price in Playa del Carmen and for a well deserved service
Review 107:Poor wifi connection. No wifi in rooms and poor wifi in reception. With price of hotel, wifi should be included in all rooms.
Review 108:Excellent pool facilities, landscaping and spa. Great restaurants.
Review 109:Don't eat at the Sushi restaurant, my daughter and husband both got food poisoning. Check-in and Check-out (you can't leave without a check-out receipt) takes a while so leave some time for that. At check-in they gave us the wrong room (we paid for pool access), we had to go back, it took a while for them to sort it out, but they did make sure we got the right room. Although we had booked for 2 adults and 2 children, the resort somehow had it as 2 adults only. This was mentioned at check in, but they said it was ok (they copied everyone's passports, however at check out they didn't want to check 4 people out and it took a while for them to confirm that we had checked in with 4. I told them we were late for the flight, but there was no hurry on their part, and no apologies when they realized it was clearly their fault. Free wifi in rooms, but was down we had to pay $20 to use wifi in lobby, wifi very slow. If you want to sit in the beautiful beach restaurant it cost extra. Expect extras.
Review 110:The resort is BIG, but not impersonal. Our room was in the new family club area, which is close to the main area (where reception, gym, stores and most of the restaurants are located), but about a 10 min walk from the beach. The walk however is a pleasant one, beautiful gardens. If you don't want to walk there is a shuttle that goes regularly. The beach is lovely, but you have to be there early to get a chair. Snorkeling is not spectacular, but we did see fish. Beach restaurant "Chill Out", beautiful not crowded, but you have to pay extra.
Review 111:Wlan is very expensive (20 USD/day) Pool bar allows for open drinksin the pool. I even saw a person smoking a cigarette in the pool
Review 112:Staff very friendly Wide area with lots of green spaces
Review 113:front desk lies and answers "well your reservation for a king size bedroom is only good if we have it" front desk never answer the phone 2 out of 4 days they did not leave towels in the room and the answer by the cleaning lady was "we didn't have enough" the decoration for half of the restaurants is like been having lunch in hisgschool the standard on the quality of the food can go from very poor to very good on the same dish depending on the day
Review 114:the place is beautiful, the rooms are big and nice, is plenty of food and drinks.
Review 115:The check-in and check-out process was torturous. We had to wait in line for at least 30 minutes, at 3pm. Then we were told our room wasn't ready for 3 more hours. We were given another room to hang out in for a few hours. Then we returned to check-in and were told the room still wasn't ready. Oh boy. Then for check-out you have to wait in line again (people in front of me were being helped for 10+ minutes). You have to turn in yr towel cards and room keys and then get issued a departure pass. That would have been nice to know when we checked in. It could seriously delay people and make them late for their departures. Stressful! Would I return? Probably not. There were too many details nt attended too.
Review 116:The grounds were beautifully maintained. The food was delicious and the buffet offered A LOT of selection. I thought the resort was a great value for the price.
Review 117:The hotel is long and it's a long way from the main lobby till the private beach
Review 118:The villa pagoda room including all the privacy and is the top of the rooms .. the food is great the pools the service
Review 119:Upon arrival, The timeshare employees hounding you for a "free breakfast". Relentless! Paid for "platinum" privileges, and everyone else enjoyed the same privileges?
Review 120:Food, suite, beach, pool, drinks, polite very accommodating staff, price paid.
Review 121:We didn't like the fact they didn't let us in the hotel lobby to begging with because we where not on the list, we made a last minute booking and their lists aren't up to date or computers, so we had to wait for more than 20 minutes at security gate, then we had to wait for over one hour in the line to the lobby just to do the check in and same hour on the way out to do the check out, workers all where in bad mod.
Review 122:The price was good, the hotel was clean and good.
Review 123:Wifi signal The villa suites have a private pool area but it was under construction since it broke a couple of days before our arrival. As a compensation we got entrance to the spa pool but that was indoors and you don't go to Mexico to sit inside, so that really was a bummer! After 5 days it was still in maintenance. At check in their is a private counter for platinum and villa guest, which is not very clear. So we waited in line and people even went before us because they "knew" guests who were already checked in. So we had to wait quite a while. We got a rather cool welcome until they saw in the reservation that we were villa platinum guest so the attitude changed immediately with champagne coming right up us. Nothing special for honeymoon even if indicated in reservation Following is not really the Resorts fault but I need it to get off my chest. This was the first time I stayed in an all- in and, my god, I was sometimes really annoyed and disgusted about the other guests. Leaving trash and empty or even full cups around, noisy (with their iPod player on full blast mode on the pool, beach or even walking areas- not everyone likes your type of music guys), people getting in front in you even if they see you are waiting to order as well. Putting too much food on their plate and just leave it untouched, really, that was what I was afraid off when I imagined the "all in-type" of guest. So people please, you don't live alone on this world. Not all the restaurants were so good. But they did their best to make it as nice as they could.
Review 124:Breakfast Very friendly staff Platinum concierge abdias who arranged everything. We came one day later because do trouble with the flights and our room was not ready so their were no welcome gifts (fruit basket, beach bag, drinks) but the day after all this was arranged by our concierge. Mama Mia and la fleur restaurant, the other restaurants were so so. The place is big but not uncomfortably huge, so whoever said that is a problem should not book a resort! Wildlife in the resort area. Very very clean area! Well done by maintenance staff. Beautiful walking lameness with the statues. The Laguna villa suite was great. Wifi, though not always strong signal. The outside showe and jacuzzi. Free minibar. The waiters were very helpful and friendly and not pushing to get a tip. Overall I will gladly stay here again in the future, and once again in the villas.
Review 125:Waiting staff were very friendly food was good the grounds were very pretty spacious rooms and relaxing a hotel for everybody
Review 126:The first day we arrived we noted a few tear and stains on the blanket, which we immediately asked to be replaced. It goes without staying that the efficient room service saw to it straight away. Also there were a few marks in the jacuzzi which we asked to be cleaned. Otherwise Not a lot of negative remarks, as you can't really fault things at Laguna villas.
Review 127:The Laguna villas are the most exclusive accommodations available in terms of VIP treatment and the personal butler service that you require at this resort. The Laguna villa we stayed in was beyond imagination, everything that came with the pakage was exeptional! We made most of the 24 hour concierge service and found ourselves with complimentary rum, beer, vodka and a few more stacked up in our room. The Laguna residents have access to a private pool which benefits from a pool bar. The Laguna option is adults only so we enjoyed the added peice and quite. All in all was a fantastic holidays with overwhelmingly extra nice staff - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Laguna villa and will return to room 9121 in near future.
Review 128:I would like to make clear that I enjoyed myself and would stay againanytime however these are the observations I made - I wasn't walkingaround the room looking for something, these are just things I observedand are all easy fixes: lack of wi-fi - I managed to get a page onoccasions where one could buy access but it never really worked as Iwould always loose signal, a couple of maintenance observations (damagedhand held shower head, damaged wall in bathroom, missing inner handle onbathroom sliding door, rust on jacuzzi drain, small holes in theheadboard, stains on desk, stains on lamp shades), as I said - floor wassuper clean however there were a small things that were missed: dust atthe inner edge of towel shelves, stain on side of sofa, one of thetowels although nicely smelling and clearly having been washed did havea quite large brownish stain, mysterious substance on hook in bathroom(one just needs to scrub it off - 3 minute work at most, outlet coverunder nightstand - couldn't find any outlets missing a cover soit's not like it fell of while I was there)
Review 129:Most of the staff was extra friendly, the floor in the room was superclean, the direct access from the porch into the pool was just amazing, the room was comfortable, a/c was working excellent
Review 130:Buffe is better than another retaueant for Japanese.
Review 132:Almost too big, especially if you have ambulatory issues. Our biggest complaint: alcohol offerings were very subpar. Unlike other nearby resorts, Grand Riviera limits their offerings to rail quality products. Example: instead of peach schnapps we were served vodka flavored with peach syrup. Gross! One beer choice (Dos Equis) and off-brand liquors. No complimentary WiFi.
Review 133:The resort is huge, a good thing and a bad thing. Almost need the map to get around. One restaurant -- Los Olas -- offered the absolute best lobster entree any of us had ever had (additional $$$ but cheap!). Beach is great. Staff helpful and friendly.
Review 134:This was my first time out of the country so some of this was my learning experience. But you definitely do not to need to convert your USD to pesos. Everywhere at the hotel or in the city took USD. Just be sure to bring a whole bunch of ones for tipping. My friends and I ran into so many issues getting change for tipping purposes. And when we did get change at the front desk we were charged for it. Also the tours are great but be prepared for a long drive especially if you are seeing the Mayan ruins; the drive is 3 hours from the hotel. And for the food, well it wasn't the best. I was so excited to get back to Texas to eat some Mexican food which was sad because I was in Mexico. I will say the chicken at the buffets were extremely moist and delicious and if you get food fresh off the grill its good also. I get it's a buffet but they could do a little better with the food
Review 135:The hotel was absolutely beautiful and massive. There is a shuttle that takes you around but I didn't mind the walk it was good exercise. The waiters for the most part were extremely nice; there were a few off ones, but maybe they were having a bad day. Also free drinks includes shots as well which is awesome. Just pay attention to the front desk reception when you check in. They will inform which bars are free and which ones are not. You can go on the beach anytime but the pool closed at 8pm, which was kind of early for a pool to close. I think it was mainly the place we were at, which seemed to be perfect for couples but maybe not as lively for a group of friends.
Review 136:Wasn't a fan of the musty smell in the room. Also the "convenient store" under the lobby where they offer snacks, clothing and tobacco products is horrible. The staff is obviously on commission and hound you insesantley! They claimed to never have change if I purchased a pack of cigarettes with a 20$ bill! So the tactic was to get me to buy more. Very rude and rubbed me the wrong way. Was also sad that we had the photographers take a bunch of pictures only to find out the price was $250 minimum!
Review 137:Loved the swim up rooms! I would highly recommend staying here if you love a great pool as it seems infinite and at your beck and call anytime! Loved all the greenery everywhere and the wildlife just roaming around! Buffet was always delicious as well! The event staff on the beach and by the lobby organized some amazing excursions for us at a great price so that was awesome! (Anthony on the beach was a great snorkel guide!)
Review 138:Rained while we were there :-( Bed in the room was very hard. The main pool area is very noisy and full of drunk people - party pool!
Review 139:Very nice resort, stayed in one of the villas, definitely worth paying the upgrade. We had access to platinum lounge, a private pool for villas only with comfortable cabana beds and a hot tub in the room also the private beach area was nice with waitress service. Concerige was available to us to book restaurants so we didn't have to queue.
