Reviews for Casa Tia Micha

Review 1:24 hour staffing seemed more like someone "almost always" being there. If you want full hotel services, this might not be for you.

Review 2:Right off of main square. Lots of local charm at this clean, TINY hotel. Good wi-fi.

Review 3:Overall I really liked this place-there are a few details to address though: Wifi in the courtyard was good, but it didn't work in the rooms. There was a massive spider in our bathroom-my partner gingerly relocated it to the patio outside! We asked the staff about a restaurant which is recommended in our Lonely Planet book but they'd never heard of it. The hotel is in the same book, so it would be a good move if they checked out some of the restaurants featured.

Review 4:The hotel location was great-close to the bus station, and near the main square. It felt v safe. The room was spacious, and really nice. The place was nice and quiet, the breakfast looked good. The servers were really courteous. There are some good places to eat nearby too.

Review 5:Just the right distance from the town's zocolo - easy walk but away from noise.A sweet escape with little courtyard. A great place to stay before going to Chichenitza (if travelling by car).

Review 6:AC extremely noisy but necessary because of humidity. Furniture charming but not particularly functional. Bathroom fittings quaint.

Review 7:Friendly welcome and homely atmosphere. Comfortable bed but limited pillows. Nice Yucateca breakfast at house along the street.

Review 8:Can't fault it

Review 9:In a word - fabulous. Very helpful staff, beautiful breakfast in lovely garden, well appointed, comfortable room with tasteful decor, good location, free parking next door ...

Review 10:Charming B&B in a lovely authentic town. The hosts are delightful - and committed to making your stay splendid. Gorgeous breakfast. A memorable experience.

Review 11:It seemed to be a little overpriced for what you got in the room itself. We could also hear people coming and going in the night.

Review 12:The service was really great at this hotel. Also, the breakfast (which is included with the stay) was delicious! The owner even made drinking hot chocolate for us especially since she knew we were going to visit the chocolate factory in town. They have parking, which is great. The location is good too. It's a little deceiving on the map, because it looks like it's located in the main square, but it's actually on a side street. Still great location, though.

Review 13:Nothing! It was perfect :) I kept singing praises for days!

Review 14:Christian was an AMAZING staff person - super friendly and gave us really great recommendations for visiting local cenotes that were less touristy/packed than the ones in Tulum (where we were originally going to). The other male staff person that helped us a lot (didn't catch his name) was also super sweet. The free Mexican breakfast was DELICIOUS and such a great deal. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for an intimate, very adorably-decorated, and warm & inviting stay in Valladolid.

Review 15:Nothing

Review 16:The staff/owners are so friendly and welcoming, you feel like you are visiting friends. The style of this small hotel is lovely, beautiful garden and room is stylish. Breakfast is fantastic -3 delicious courses!

Review 17:Central location not far from the ADO bus station and just off the main square. Pretty shaded garden to have breakfast in - a welcome relief from the heat of the town. Very friendly helpful staff. Very lovely breakfast beautifully served.

Review 18:Nothing at all!

Review 19:We stayed two nights here and it was great, very comfortable. I really loved the colonial style! The family running this B&B were also lovely and friendly. We arrived early and they happily looked after our bags while we explored the town. Once we returned we were given a cool Jamaica drink (Hibiscus Tea) and they had already carried our (heavy!) bags up to our room. Breakfast was great and situated every morning in a lovely little court yard surrounded by fruit trees. If visiting Valladolid I highly recommend this B&B for location, comfort and great hospitality.

Review 20:Room required maintenance that should have been completed long before we arrived. Also, please note that the staff is not onsite full time - when they are not there you must walk down few doors to obtain assistance at their "sister" property.

Review 21:Staff was very friendly & courteous and breakfast was delicious.

Review 22:Only thing to keep in mind is that breakfast service may be a little slow... Just plan for it!

Review 23:Amazing Location, tub in the bedroom by the bed (hello romance), tasteful breakfast in the little garden and access to the nice facilities of Casa Marlene next door which include a pool and a much bigger garden.

Review 24:Room decor was a little dated - not chic nor luxurious, but cute and quaint.

Review 25:Great location near main square, friendly staff (went out of their way to to accommodate my vegan diet, arranged laundry, provided recommendations etc.), big breakfast with local dishes, pretty garden, and nice ambiance. Clean and large bathrooms.

Review 26:Lovely sincere staff who tried very hard to make sure our stay was a memorable one. They succeeded! Amazing breakfast, best we had on our month long holiday - way better than the huge buffets.

Review 27:Staff were lovely and so full of pride in their service - could not do enough for us. Great location in charming Mexican town. Town cenote fantastic and five mins walk away. Good restaurants nearby. Breakfast excellent

Review 28:The room... Not enough light from Windows, smelt damp and no where to sit apart from the bed

Review 29:Staff really nice. Room large but no where to sit and only one small windrow. Breakfast was great!

Review 30:Hotel is small but really cute and clean and near the centre of the city! The staff was super friendly an so helpful! Room was huge and clean with a big bed! The breakfast was delicious!!!!

Review 31:All was good.

Review 32:Lovely boutique hotel tucked away moments from the main square, beautiful room, breakfast in the quiet garden freshly cooked each morning. Professional and welcoming staff with excellent knowledge of English - fantastic stay. There is also a small pool in their other property two doors down the street.

Review 33:My partner and I liked everything from the minute we stepped into Tia Micha. The staff was very polite and extremely helpful and could not do enough for us. The complimentary breakfasts were enormous and almost kept us going throughout the entire day. Extremely well cooked, per table! Wonderful experience!

Review 34:Seriously nothing!

Review 35:This hotel is a wonderful! It's so pretty! The staff is amazing and always smiling. The room was great and very clean!!! It's the best hotel we did during our trip! Great location and great breakfast!

Review 36:As one person in our group said, "It's adorable." It is. A magic, intimate pool surrounded by trees. Breakfast overlooking the lush courtyard makes you feel like you woke up in a fairyland.

Review 37:Everything was just perfect. The staff and the owners are the best and most friendly people. Breakfast was also amazing and the garden is spectacular. Thank you for everything.

Review 38:Finding the place is not so easy, because of the way the streets are named and one way patterns. You have to get to the intersection of 38th and 39th as crazy as that sounds. You can't just ask anyone because this place is discreet with no big signage, and not well known to the locals. But that all adds to the adventure of driving in Mexico! Also, don't plan on watching TV. They have one in the room, but you won't find any channels in English.

Review 39:This is a small inn with 8 units. It's run by a sister-brother pair who grew up in the house and named the business after their grandmother. It exudes charm, grace, privacy, comfort, and seclusion. Although it's smack in the center of Valladolid, just a1/2 block from the center square, once you're inside the walls, it feels quiet and secluded. The manicured gardens are gorgeous. The home made breakfast was one to write home about--three courses, at least, with fresh mango juice, divine fruit plate with homemade yogurt, omelette and empanada, fruit crepe for dessert, served in the divine gardens on linen tablecloths and embroidered placemats--definitely not your standard 'breakfast included' fare. The room was large, clean, with huge walk-in shower large enough for two. Our suite, the Sisal on second floor, had a large hot tub adjacent to bedroom. Furnishings were charming, traditional, beautiful. Lots of personalized service. A really great place to stay! There's no phone in the room, but we never missed it. This place was an experience!

Review 40:We stayed in honeymoon suite and enjoyed every minute of the time spent in Valladolid: very central location, pretty and comfortable room with nice wooden furniture, kindness and warm welcome of stuff, their help with guidance and hints, good breakfast.

Review 41:Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff (in a nice informal way). Beautiful stylish rooms (old colonial style). Complimentary bottle of wine, water and soft drinks. Quiet. Lovely garden where a tasty breakfast was served. Good wi-fi signal. 5 minutes walk from the bus station. 2 minutes walk from the main plaza.

Review 42:The location close to the main square might lead you to think this would be a noisy place to stay but ithat's part of the charm. It is quiet, charming and relaxing. The staff are super helpful.

Review 43:Lovely colonial building with a private garden, we stayed in Candelaria, a room that fit our family of four and still felt spacious and airy. Nice bathroom too. There is an equally charming sister hotel a few doors down the street with a pool available for use. All the staff were so helpful and friendly, we were sorry we didn't have the possibilty of staying a bit longer!

Review 44:The attention to detail was spectacular: colours, decorating, gardens, amenities, and a delightful three-course breakfast of regional specialties. Friendly and helpful staff.

Review 45:Wonderful family B&B. Everyone was so enjoyable to meet and genuinely helpful. This family shared the culture of Valladolid and Yucatan with us from the customs of times long past to today. We highly recommend this B&B!

Review 46:Really friendly and helpful staff. Lovely huge room, huge comfortable bed, and lovely bath! Great location, right in the middle of town. Free off street parking next door. Nice swimming pool in the sister hotel (Marlene) but we didn't get a chance to use it!

Review 47:The friendliness of the staff was exceptional. The 3 course breakfast( included in the price) was delicious. Don't look anywhere else, stay at this place , we loved it

Review 48:A curtain to block light coming through the door transom would have been nice (we solved it with a towel and a pair of shoes!). Also, the bed frames were a bit creaky. All in all, very minor complaints!

Review 49:Room was clean, comfortable, quiet and well-equipped. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Grounds were beautiful, and the location is perfect for exploring Valladolid and visiting Chichen Itza and other nearby sites. Oh, and the breakfast was delicious and ample!

Review 50:We were lucky enough to get the lovely honeymoon suite -boasting marble-made jacuzzi- for a very good price, but I guess all rooms are nearly as comfortable and well appointed. Complimentary Coffee, a bottle of local wine and a delicious breakfast in a lovely garden are also included. And a nice chat with the passionate and friendly host Teresa is too. All young staff is thoughtful and eager to help for any need you may have. If you want to stop for a night in Valladolid this is the place to go.

Review 51:If anything, it's that the breakfast is served at a neighbour B&B 3 doors down the street.

Review 52:Our best hotel experience during our trip. Everything is just perfect - location, breakfast, the beds, the hotel itself is very cosy, people are nice and can assist you in English perfectly.

Review 53:Only stayed one night.

Review 54:Loved everything about our stay, from the welcome bottle of wine, to the delicious breakfast served in the courtyard. Best hotel stay in Mexico, highly recommend!

Review 55:Such a beautiful property with a lot of history and charm. We felt like we were personal guests of the family run bed and breakfast. Breakfasts were delicious and Tia Teresa's chilaquiles and chelupas were soooooooo good! Rosanelly was absolutely the sweetest...offering great "in the know" things to do around and in the town and made sure we were comfortable asking for anything we may need. The sister property has a little pool and hot tub nestled in the back of the garden which we were free to enjoy. The gardens on both properties were to die for...serious garden envy. We cannot wait to go back and stay again! Thank you to all at Casa Tia Micha...a little piece of heaven :) xo

Review 56:Tiny closet not appropriate for dresses or anyone planning a longer stay.

Review 57:Rosa & Miguel were helpful & pleasant and treated us as family. We felt welcomed into her grandmother's home! Charming, peaceful gardens. Quiet, relaxing sitting areas. Only 3 rooms. The free bottle of wine welcome gift was a nice touch. We would definitely recommend this boutique hotel to any of our friends!

Review 58:Our room was very spacious and clean. The location is perfect and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful, they really make their guests feel at home. We would definitely stay there again. We enjoyed a lovely tour with Angel, the 3 cenotes we saw and swam in were off the beaten track, quiet and unspoilt. Casa Tia Micha is the perfect base from which to explore many Yucatan ruins and cenotes. We loved it!

Review 59:probably the bathtube (with the Jacuzzi!) is not used very ofetn because there was a little deposit on the walls. But nothing major, considering that the whoole room (with separate bathroom and the Jacuzzi on the very big room, was really beautiful

Review 60:Don't be fooled from the outisde: the interior is a very nice MExican house and I found the rooms beautiful If you are looking for a modern, with no personality hotel this is not your place. Breakfast was very good and they very kindly offered a fresh made lemonade upon our arrival. It is 50 meters away form the main square in a very safe area Really appreciated the complimentary bottle of red wine!

Review 61:The hotel consists of inviting and lovingly restored rooms and gardens that were former old homes near the center of town and plaza. The hotel is in walking distance to all the restaurants / shops but still feels quiet and peaceful. The hotel host was very pleasant and extremely helpful with any travel questions. Based on our week-long trip traveling around the eastern half of the Yucatan Peninsula, this hotel was one of our favorite spots and one of the best values for the money. We were at the hotel just one night, but really wish we had been able to stay for more!

Review 62:This is a building with hotel rooms. It is a part of another hotel down the street. Therefore there is NO pool onsite - no way anybody gonna walk down the street in their swim suit soaking wet. THat's silly. And most of the time there is nobody at the "reception desk." The front door to the building is unlocked. Not cool - not secure. I think this "hotel" is misrepresented and I would NEVER stay there again. Our room was sold as "honeymoon suite". I guess because there was jacuzzi there. Otherwise it was just a room. Bed was hard.

Review 63:Good location, good breakfast. Nice rooms. Friendly staff if you can find them. Quiet room.

Review 64:This is a lovely little hotel in an old part of the town just near the central square. If you are doing lots of ruins in the area this is a cool and quiet retreat - very friendly and excellent value.

Review 65:Furniture is too old. Not very nice smell. The bed is very hard. No door in the shower and all water is on the floor in the bathroom. If you are trying to wash hands, you will get wet, because of a strange crane in the sink. (No chance to wash any clothes) Only one small hand towel. No shower gel or conditioner. Doors are old and you hear every noise from the outside. Conditioner is very noisy.

Review 66:Location is very good, near the main square. Very nice inside garden. Wi-fi is very good Toothbrushes are included but no paste.

Review 67:This was a beautiful stay in Valladolid where we were very well looked after and made that part of the trip very special. Everyone at Casa Tia Micha is kind and helpful and it is a beautiful B&B.

Review 68:We absolutely loved our stay at Casa Tia Micha! The property is beautiful and very charming. The staff were very, very kind and friendly and went above and beyond to make us feel at home. The breakfast was so delicious!! The location was perfect, close to the plaza. Spacious room, fast Wi-Fi. We cannot wait to return! :-)

Review 69:We thought that the beds were queen but they were doubles which were a bit tight for our family of four.

Review 70:Staff were amazing and so very helpful. They planned an amazing day for us and arranged transport. The breakfasts were healthy and interesting and really tasty!

Review 71:the power in our room went out when we tried to boil water and use the hair dryer at the same time. It took a while for them to fix as the staff were very confused as well.

Review 72:wifi was pretty fast yummy breakfast beautiful gardens friendly staff

Review 73:We loved our stay at this hotel. It is located right in the city center, but is quiet and calm. The staff are very kind. Spacious room (bridal suite) and amazing breakfast! Safe parking.

Review 74:Very friendly and helpful people, nice decor in colonial style, where you can imagine how people lived those days. Clean spacious rooms. The hotel itself is in the building of spanish family with long history. Second similar butique hotel stays next to Casa Tia Micha (same owner) and has green small backyard inside and the pool to relax after the long travel. Casa Tia Micha is just two steps from the central square and main street with all the restaurants and shops. They were very kind to provide us with the city map and direct to some attractions and eating places. Very pleasant location on our way to Chichen Itza. Thanks.

Review 75:Very nice staff, excellent breakfast, convenient to Chichen Itza and Rio Lagartos and Cancun.

Review 76:Beautiful place owned by an lovely family. Delicious homemade mexican breakfast and very very nice rooms.
