Reviews for María de la Luz

Review 1:The staff were really helpful and friendly, the rooms and hotel are all so 1960's but in great condition and everything in working order. The view from our room was amazing as it looked onto to the main square with a little balcony! Go for the breakfast buffet- it's great value.

Review 2:Not sure why this is a 4 star hotel. There are many more better priced hotels which are so muuuch better! It's a bit old, wifi doesn't work, has no character whatsoever and rooms are quite ugly. Bathroom had a funny smell...

Review 3:Very central

Review 4:sheets were stained and we had to ask for replacement my account was debited twice for the payment for our stay Very noisy in our room overlooking the town square

Review 5:the breakfast and it's location

Review 6:Thought price included breakfast, but reception said no. Reception at checkin were adequate but not friendly or welcoming.

Review 7:Location, most staff were very helpful, room was really clean!

Review 8:The bed seemed to be fairly ancient and the mattress was wrapped in what I can only describe as a black contractor garbage bag. The sheet was so old and worn out you could see through it at in some parts which made for an uncomfortable experience in combination with the plastic wrap on the mattress. The only other bedding was a thin bedspread that seemed closer related to sand paper. No other furniture in the large room except a worn out bedside table and two old chairs. There was also a bad smell coming from the shower drain about 50% of the time so we had to keep the bathroom door closed.

Review 9:The location really couldn't be better. You can't get better than a room looking out at the main square in Valladolid. The hotel is very pretty (the restaurant, pool, common areas, halls etc). The room was a good size. The bathroom was nicely renovated.

Review 10:Wifi only worked when you were close to the modem. The bed sheets were really thin and rugged.

Review 11:great location and breakfast was included. Sometimes crazy lines but great Mexican breakfast.

Review 12:Shower took 10min to get hot water running, towels and lining are too old, they need to be changed

Review 13:Great location, good breakfast, nice staff, parking lot, room space was good enough, they provided us with a crib for the little kid

Review 14:The air con was old and loud so we couldnt really keep it on during the night (and it gets really hot!). No double locks on the door

Review 15:It was great coming back from a long, hot day out and jumping in the pool. Location is good, just a few min walk from the ADO bus station. The rooms have fridges. Decent wifi

Review 16:OVERPRICED for the room.

Review 17:Breakfasts and location

Review 18:Overall, a more than adequate hotel having a very pleasant layout a good service in an ideal location overlooking the central Plaza

Review 19:Shower head.

Review 20:Location

Review 21:front facing rooms can be very noisy at night if events taking place in square. (carnival)

Review 22:Noise from the plaza, iffy wifi

Review 23:Location, pool, and food.

Review 24:Nothing not to like. Right on the main zocalo with the cathedral glowing in the distance. Charming.

Review 25:Remember, it's Mexico! So the WiFi password posted on the door was wrong; to change the a.c. you had to stand on a chair, and the chair wasn't the right height for the desk (typing with arms up), the gorgeous pool had no stairs or ladder, which I guess is why no one used it. Totally charming experience, consistent w/ my 40+ years in Mexico.

Review 26:The restaurant staff were a little less cheerful ... too many tourists? Or maybe unclear process for us (i.e. breakfast sitting re buffet or a la carte).

Review 27:The front desk staff were excellent, and accommodated our needs perfectly

Review 28:ROOMS VERY NOISY WITH VERY BUSY STREET DOWN BELOW. MATTRESSES AND PILLOWS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. MATTRESSES HAD THOSE CRINKLY MATTRESS COVERS (LIKE YOU HAD WHEN YOU WERE THREE IN CASE YOU WET THE BED) GROSS. NOT A GOOD REST AT ALL. WINDOWS WOULD NOT CLOSE.

Review 29:POOL, RESTAURANT, LOCATION

Review 30:We make this hotel our stop over location while on way to Merida. Only a couple blocks from ADO and across from the zocolo.. Great restaurant an above average breakfast

Review 31:The bed matresses had seen better days but were clean. The shower was not much more than a trickle but ckeanliness was up to standard

Review 32:The hotel is centrally placed over looking the main square so perfect. The layout of the hotel is also good with a central courtyard and swimming pool. There is underground free parking which made it easier.

Review 33:Everything is grossly outdated! Mirror frames rusted, rooms were probably painted over 10 years ago, and the biggest one: be sure you check the ac and or the ceiling fan before you accept the room! After the first night we had to change the room, my wife slept well but i could not sleep all night, the ac was loud as an airplane engine and it did not blow anything but warm air. The ceiling fan we had had only one speed and that was super super fast to the point that i was afraid it was going to fly out of the room. The last morning we took a continental breakfast that was supposed to be covered by the hotel, they made us pay 100 mexican dollars for all kinds of reasons that did not make any sense. That was like 10 dollars, not a big deal but that was not supposed to happened so we left with a sour taste in our mouth. After 3days of praising the staffs good service.

Review 34:The hotel offers a lot for the money, has pool small garage if you are lucky enough to catch a spot, hotel is in the main square and located close to restaurants and shoppings. Buffet breakfast was excellent, and I mean that! Staff very friendly, we spoke spanish so did not have a communication barrier.

Review 35:I liked this hotel becuaes it was right next to the zocalo, the cathedral, the John Vaner folk museum, and also close to the bus station. Vallodidad is not too far from Chichen Itza so I was able to take an ADO bus to Chichen early enough to not be crowded by other tourists and the midday heat.

Review 36:The rooms areat my point of wiew not enough dark...and as situatedaround the swimming pool they can be a little bit noisy during somehours but only during the day...But the hotel is a very good value formoney in Valladolid....and is a good option.

Review 37:There is a mistake on booking... The price includes taxes and citytaxes...it was a good surprise. The hotel is on the main plaza...

Review 38:The room was rather tacky and didn't feel all too clean. There was extreme noise from the street below and it was difficult to get a good night's sleep. The beds were uncomfortable.

Review 39:The staff were friendly and curteous. The location.

Review 40:This hotel was very easy to find, and had a superb location in bella Valladolid- especially if you are planing to visit Chichen Itza, the cenotes and Izamal. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the rooms wore clean.

Review 41:We booked and received confirmation of our booking. When we arrived after long bus trip..they had no room for us and put us in dirty hotel down the street. Not a Happy New Years experience.

Review 42:We had two beds squeezed into a room which would have been well filledby one bed. The tv shelf was so low that we had to hang a towel off thecorner to stop ourselves banging our heads as we passed. We ran our ofhot water halfway through the second shower. Smoking was permittedaround the pool in the central courtyard. Breakfast buffet was far fromthe best of our vacation and we ended up having only fruit forbreakfast.

Review 43:The location was unsurpassable - right on the central town square.Parking onsite only while checking in, then secure (?) parking aroundthe block for your stay.

Review 44:Street noise.

Review 45:The triple room was spacious and clean. In center of town.

Review 46:Curtains, don't block well

Review 47:Convinience

Review 48:Rooms could use updating - bedding, towels.

Review 49:Excellent location Good value for the price

Review 50:Very central location. Very noisy over nigh. Food great. Facilities could be improved

Review 51:bed was uncomfortable

Review 52:location and convienience, friendly and helpful staff, newly remodeled bathroom

Review 53:No hot water Bed was lumpy WIFI connection was weak

Review 54:Staff were friendly Close to everything Clean and evonomical

Review 55:Tons of hot water for a shower. Staff very friendly and very helpful. Handy to everything.

Review 56:location

Review 57:Place looks tired and although there is a good size pool there is no facility to lounge around it.

Review 58:Good value. Great location.

Review 59:a good place
