Review 1：Unortunately the food was really bad. Fat, sailing in oil.

Review 2：We arrived late just before the restaurant closed. It was nice to get a table in the restaurant in front of a fire as it was chilly.

Review 18：It was a good location for seeing the northern side on Medeira. Hotel provides excellent value for money, nice room and breakfast was delicious. Plus it had a pool and hot tub to relax in after so much walking.

Review 19：The first impression when entering the hotel was that the lobby and our room smelled like musty humidity. (Our room was next to the lobby on the same floor.) Being allergic it can feel uncomfortable. Had to keep our balcony door open to have fresh air.

Review 21：I paid â?¬50 per night and the hotel claims 4 stars so one might expect a lot.. 1. Heating turned off in late Oct/early Nov. Therefore cold at night. 2. TV had 5 channels, 4 Portuguese and 1 German. 3. Impossible to lock balcony window (although the security risk is minimal). 4. Coffee at breakfast literally the worst I've ever tasted. Unpalatable. 5. Had a look at the swimming pool on my first day. It looked very small. Went back to go for a swim on my last day and it was shut for maintenance. Maybe remove the pool and use the savings to pay to turn the heating on! 6. No wifi in rooms. Normally fair enough but for a "4 star" hotel...?

Review 22：Fruit salad and homemade cake for breakfast. Good location for exploring north side of island.

Review 23：No signs for the hotel makes it virtually impossible to find, especially in the late evening or night. Breakfast was very boring, no variety i.e. no fresh fruit juice merely diluted orange, processed ham & cheese EVERY morning. Warm water, not boiling therefore impossible to have tea for breakfast. Menu in dining room was quite limited also. The hotel needs a bit of maintenance; i.e. fruit juice machine in dining room dispensed water only.

Review 24：Friendly, competent & efficient receptionists who were fluent English speakers; one lady spoke a number of languages. Privacy & quiet (except for the constant ringing of the adjacent church bell!) The town is small but is lovely. Should go & see what they do in Hotel Calcheta!!

Review 25：Not enough coat hangers or drawer space, first bedroom had a nastysmell, (but were quickly moved with no fuss to nearby room). Have to payextra for sauna, a lot of wasted space in pool area so no"atmosphere". Old wooden chairs with no cushions to sit on, onbalcony. Coffee yuk! (But that's everywhere in Madeira!
