Reviews for Albergo Italia

Review 1:When we first arrived in our room there was an extremely unpleasant and putrid odour emanating from the bathroom which we could also smell in the hallway outside the room. Apparently, when it rains, as it was when we arrived, the drainage from below the building backwashes up the pipes and causes this terrible smell. We asked for another room but unfortunately the hotel was full except for one small dark room which was not acceptable and below the standard we had booked. All they could do was give us a room deodoriser to put in the bathroom to mask the smell. When we returned to our room after an hour, the smell was still there but had been partially improved by the deodoriser. Later in the day when it had stopped raining the odour had all but disappeared. However, it came back every time it rained. My sister had the smaller room next door and did not experience the odour problem. We were there for three days and when we checked out we were disappointed to find that we were not offered any compensation for this unpleasant experience.

Review 2:We liked the convenient and quiet location of the hotel. It was only a short walk to all the town's attractions and restaurants. You could pull up right outside the front entrance and unload then proceed to the nearby parking station.

Review 3:No English TV channels, no hot food like scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage at breakfasrs, beds a tad hard.

Review 4:Advertised as a 3 star but felt more like a good 4 star hotel - Twin with views was quiet, quite spacious, has kettle and tea/coffee, wide and long tub for soaking, good but cold breakfasts with great cakes and pastries etc. booked a taxi from hotel to San Marino for 80 euros.

Review 5:Only BB we had to pay for wifi, only 1 euro but not a common event Parking was a bit inconvenient but doable; would have been easier if we had stayed more than one night

Review 6:Convenient location Immaculate and spacious room Beautiful views Delicious breakfast

Review 7:There was night noise from our room with the windows open because we like fresh air.

Review 8:Perfect location to walk the town. Good sized room. Very clean. Very good breakfast; lots of choices. Staff spoke very good English and were very helpful

Review 9:The Hotel is in the centre of the town , close to all important monuments and an easy walk to the bus termini perhaps 10 mins with a suitcase. The room was clean and comfortable. My room came with a view . Breakfast was plentiful and adequate. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 10:The staff not very friendly and the room small and cramped with useless furniture and moisy due to work outside and breakfast very disappointing

Review 11:The location was excellent

Review 12:You need to park your car outside the town wall, but that is the case for any hotel inside the old city. It is a 10-minute walk to a huge car park on the south side of town.

Review 13:Friendly staff, great location, clean, plenty of hot water, AC & nice breakfast.

Review 14:Needed to keep reconnecting to the wifi. Seemed a bit primitive! Surely in this day and age wifi should be as straightforward and as easily accessible as water. Oddly, air conditioning needed to be controlled by reception but we only discovered this by chance.

Review 15:Amazing location - especially with the great view from the room. Generous breakfast. Nice big bedroom with dual aspect.

Review 16:Perfect location close to the town centre and Ducal Palace. Room was clean and the staff were helpful. The terrace was an added bonus at breakfast time, although it can be used to sit out at any time.

Review 17:This is not a negative comment but the town has very steep streets and it is better to take hand luggage only.

Review 18:We had a twin room which was spacious and the airconditioning worked well. There was a lovely terrace to enjoy whilst eating breakfast.

Review 19:Not a lot of variety for breakfast if attend half an before breakfast session closes, danishes/ pastries are in low supply.

Review 20:Great location, staff were helpful and friendly. Had two rooms for family, double was very good and spacious with views .Twin room was average- no extras eg kettle, seating area and was quite compact.

Review 21:Very little daylight, chilly/unfriendly staff and depressing atmosphere, room very 'electronic', everything automated, felt a bit like a prison cell, isolated from the outside world. Room smelled heavily of some kind of air freshener, which was rather overwhelming and made it difficult to sleep. Quite a hassle to get WiFi.

Review 22:Facilities and cleanliness all ok. All in all especially atmosphere was lacking.

Review 23:Airco in public areas would be welcome (eg in breakfast area) but we were there in one of the hottest weeks of the year. We found that charging one euro connection charge per device for the wifi is symbolic, but rather silly.

Review 24:Excellent location, just 3 minutes away from parking of market square - it would be great if the hotel explained more clearly that cars are not allowed in the historical centre, what parking to use, and distance distance of hotel to lift. Hotel is in a beautiful building, rooms of good size. Breakfast is varied and of includes fresh products. Airco in rooms is not noisy and does its job. Fridge in room is welcome. Pillows are paper thin, but there's a 2nd one you can use. Very friendly staff that speaks English.

Review 25:The bed was hard and the pillows were flat. There was no art on the walls of our room, and it felt a bit like a yellow prison cell. Nice balcony, though. Parking in the public garage is a long way from the hotel.

Review 26:Excellent location; helpful staff; very clean; nice building; good breakfast.

Review 27:The main plus of this hotel is its location, just a few steps from the main square in Urbino and a few hundred metres from the Ducal Palace. Access by car was easy, not always the case in this medieval city. A functional hotel!

Review 28:Rooms very basic & cleaning substance used left an overpowering smell in the room. Felt dingy & dark. No drawers or shelves to put clothing & shower tiny. Breakfast very basic. Choice of only 2 cereals, no healthy bran or granola. Pastries tasted old. No laundry service. Pillows hard. Wouldn't stay here again.

Review 29:The location & staff very helpful & friendly.

Review 30:The hotel is extremely well organised and comfortable. The staff were all very helpful. The location is perfect and it could not have been a better stay. Thank you!

Review 31:It is 2 minutes walk from the hub of Urbino and the Ducal Palace. It could not have been better, the standard room fine, good bathroom, great breakfast. To be highly recommended.

Review 32:Centrally located for historic monuments and the hotel is one itself - the painted and worked wooden ceilings on level one are outstanding. Hotel, restaurant and bar are all first class.

Review 33:Breakfast was good but nothing to write home about.

Review 34:Modern hotel. Very clean. All the facilities/amenities you would expect. Very large and clean rooms. We had nice views form the balcony.

Review 35:Staff were very friendly and helpful, light and airy reception in contrast to some other city centre hotels. Central location, but not noisy, and a lovely view from my room. Very good value for money, I'd definitely stay at Albergo Italia again.

Review 36:Our room was on the top floor with a nice view over part of the town. The furnishings were nice and the mattress quite comfortable. WiFi was available for 1 euro and fairly good. Breakfast was also good and the outdoor seating a big plus.

Review 37:The location is so easy and convenient. The room comes with everything you need (including a fridge). The wifi is fantastic value for money. Breakfast is included and offers plenty of options. Overall, a clean decent hotel with pleasant staff. I have stayed here before and would stay here again without giving it a second thought.

Review 38:very close to main attractions; also extremely close to a restaurant called La Fornarina - we agreed that this was the best meal we had during our two week trip in Italy

Review 39:wifi charge- it is cheap but it could have been free and also sometimes the hall smelt smoke..

Review 40:excellent location, very clean, good breakfast, nice rooms

Review 41:There were no arrangements for parking by hotel. Parking at city car park for eur 10 for one night was a bit expensive. Thks to hotel receptionist managed to find free street parking at via del popolo ( but make sure it is on right side)

Review 42:The location is very central

Review 43:There was nothing to dislike.

Review 44:We parked in a lot at the base of Urbino which had an elevator up to the theater around the corner from the main square and the hotel. The hotel was very comfortable and located along a covered walkway. Easy access, great room!

Review 45:The wi-fi connection was a bit erratic.

Review 46:The location of the hotel couldn't be better for exploring wonderful Urbino. The decor is simple and unpretentious but with very comfortable beds with good quality linen. The buffet breakfast is excellent.

Review 47:We were coming from Arezzo and it took over three hours on three different buses to get to Urbino. The city is not easy to get to and the hotel was a little hard to find coming in from the St. Lucia entrance.

Review 48:Close to the Ducal Palace and Duomo. Also near Raphael's house and the Oratorios of St. John the Baptist and St. Joseph.

Review 49:No complaints at all.

Review 50:Internet is fast and reliable. Staff is friendly and helpful. Location is great, in the heart of historic Urbino, just a few yards from Piazza Repubblica, where there are restaurants, stores, and bus stops.

Review 51:Lack of sound proofing of door to corridor and flushing.

Review 52:Breakfast was excellent. Location in the middle of town. Accessible by car, but parking 5-10 minutes walk away.

Review 53:Poor breakfast;difficult parking.

Review 54:I never imagined that a city with less than 20.000 habitants, could be a huge UNIVERSITY city(more than 22.000). The daily life is a strange, but attractive mixture between Middle Ages and studency. If I'll be younger,I'd like to follow a human science University in Urbino. Excellent specific dishes!!!

Review 55:Outstanding location with helpful staff. We had a room with a splendid view overlooking the old city. Excellent breakfast with a wide selection of food. Highly recommend.

Review 56:Nothing.

Review 57:Great location in the centre of Urbino - very short walk to all the sights. Very clean and quiet room with comfortable bed. Generous and tasty breakfast taken in the terrace - a lovely oasis!

Review 58:Card system to enter the room, which dont allow charging the batteries...

Review 60:There is no shampoo or other toiletry.

Review 61:The hotel is very well located, clean and nice. The breakfast was nice as well, italian (no cooked food as bacon etc.)

Review 62:Location: right in the old town near to all the sights. Staff: very welcoming and helpful in directing us to places of interest and restaurants. A modern, clean, efficient hotel that was good value for money.

Review 63:Had to log into internet each time with long passwords.

Review 64:Location can't be beat. Comfortable rooms with modern bathrooms. We had a view of the main part of town. Internet worked well in room. Close to piazza bars and palazzo ducale.

Review 65:The staff was very friendly and helpful! The rooms are clean and comfortable. The location is perfect to visit Urbino. Breakfast is very good as well.

Review 66:Air conditioning did not function well. Had to call reception every time I wanted to turn it on or off. Breakfast room chaotic and unkept.

Review 67:Terras and big windows Staff very friendly

Review 68:Having to leave!

Review 69:The Albergo Italia was a great place to stay. The location was perfect/centrally located. The staff always went to the extremes to help us, the breakfast was varied and excellent, and the facilities were outstanding. During our 6 week trip, this was one of the best places where we stayed. Thanks to all the staff!

Review 70:No tea-making facilities in the room, but very good value for money.

Review 71:The location is minutes from the Palazzo Ducale and the centre. Ten minutes uphill from bus stops. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The terrace was a bonus.

Review 72:No window in the bathroom. No big deal.

Review 73:The helpful and knowledgeable staff added so much to our stay. The beds were comfortable. The pillows- I know that sounds crazy- were excellent, after weeks of sleeping on "foam rocks" in other hotels. Good breakfast with a friendly server.
