Reviews for Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket

Review 1:Resort clientele are largely aloof and unfriendly. Sense of morale of Dusit Thani staff was a little on edge perhaps because of this. So don't expect to have pleasant conversation (or any) with your neighbours. For the price of a basic deluxe room (between $300-$400 AUD a night), you could find better value at other 5 star establishments in Phuket.

Review 2:Resort staff are incredibly friendly and attentive. Food a high quality. Aesthetics and design of the hotel is world class.

Review 3:The cabaret each evening wasn't really our taste but others seemed to like it.

Review 4:Great resort with excellent staff. The Thai restaurant is amazing too. Being so close to the beach was great and gave us the opportunity to watch the sun set into the sea each evening.

Review 5:Rooms are getting a bit tired and the corridors are noisy with the suitcases' wheels going by in the early hours when people are moving in and out. We were on the stretch towards reception so it was used a lot. People can be inconsiderate when going to bed late and shout or talk loudly which isn't the hotels fault.

Review 6:The position with the beach and sea where you can walk in both directions. The fruit stalls along the beach pathways and other wares. Great massages in the garden area which are cheap too. We had a lagoon view room and loved it. Previously had a sea view and a golf view. All rooms are in great positions.

Review 7:The rooms 272 and 273 were awful, in bad need of redecorating.

Review 8:The beach and the Thai Restaurant was very good. Liked the massage spa in gardens at reasonable prices. Fabulous beach.

Review 9:Away from the activities, but it's okay there are activities within the resort, good for a week

Review 10:Restaurants serve halal food in the resort, amazing and clean, and the beach is quiet.

Review 11:Everything! The staff were happy, therefore giving us good, friendly service. Very polite and always ready to give us extra information. Food was great too!

Review 12:The room could have been cleaned better, found toothpaste marks on the sink and the mirror desperately needed a wipe. The aircon was quite noisy too. The breakfast was good but not wonderful and as well as the restaurant food overall.

Review 13:Beautiful beach, deep enough to swim at any tide. Loved the casuarina trees - such a fairy tale feeling. My room was beachfront and I could hear the ocean.. Sweet Loved the cooking class at Ruen Thai - good fun and also absolutely stunning location!

Review 14:As one of the first hotels in the resort, its facilities and rooms are going to be a bit amortized and needs renovation.

Review 15:Extremely helpful and supportive staff! Nice location in the center of the Laguna resort on a longest beach in Phuket. Highly recommend club rooms with a veranda and direct access to the beach. Beautifully decorated large green zones. Excellent breakfast with a variety of choices for Asian and European taste. We have tried all the restaurants in the complex and La Trattoria and Casuarina are worth to be visited.

Review 16:during our stay we had a period of more then 24 hours without cold water ( toilet was also not working) and a period of about 4 hours of no water. This is not acceptable! Price for restaurants are expensive.

Review 17:very good service, fast internet, nice rooms with a big and nice bathroom, good airco. Good breakfast.

Review 18:It could have been a touch neater here and there. Rooms are showing sign of wear and tear. The floors can get slightly wet due to condensation from the air conditioning, quite liable to walk without slippers!

Review 19:Receptionists gave us a very warm welcome and were extremely polite and courteous all the way. Staff greeted us with smiles everywhere we went! Lovely service.

Review 20:Only thing I can think about are the Pillows which are too thick for me. Have to admit that I did not ask if they have thinner once.

Review 21:Staff was great. Outstanding service which is unmatched in Phuket. Two thumbs up!!! Liked the small golf course at the hotel. Nice gym. Our second stay in 2015 and we will be back again!

Review 22:Our room's toilet, room 268, smelled like water from the lagoon on the 2nd until last day. We had to keep the oil burner going to cover the smell.

Review 23:Almost everything about the hotel. Facilities were nice, foods in the restaurant have value for their money and quite honestly, aren't pricey at all and the staffs were very polite and accomodating.

Review 24:Nothing!

Review 25:Having debated whether we could score 'excellent' across the board, we attempted to identify one thing wrong with the Dusit Thani Laguna. We simply could not. It was superb- from the staff who painstakingly ensure all your needs are met and that the resorts standards are constantly maintained, to the wonderfully beautiful setting. The various restaurants offered something different, with delicious authentic Thai and Italian cuisine but also a western food- in particular a superb burger which my pregnant wife craved on occasion. I had read in a previous review that the gyms facilities were small and under stocked. This is not true. Whilst it is not a huge gym, the equipment is excellent and can easily cater for several guests at a time. The staff there are also excellent. The pool area located next to the beach is relaxing and spacious, with various water sports available for booking. I would definitely recommend hiring a car (can be done from the airport for £100 a week) so you explore the rest of the island, well worth soaking up the local culture. Make sure you indulge in an island boat tour, either Phi Phi or James Bond Island (which gets busy!) a superb experience. I look forward to returning one day to the Dusit Thani Laguna, once our child is old enough to appreciate this wonderful country.

Review 26:Only this hotel is too far from every where so far from patong beach and also city ...except breackfast we had problem for lunch no good restaurant for who come from moddle east. Every day we have to pay 700 bt for taxi to go to patong where most moddle estian restaurant located there for lunch and dinner.

Review 27:Everyting was perfect. Very nice view so helpful and polite stuff. Clean rooms nice housekeeping and beautiful lagon view.

Review 28:The beach was dirty, because many sticks from trees and plants were coming out from the sea, it makes kind of dangerous to swim in the sea. The wet runners where so close to the shore so also it makes you feel unsafe swimming far from the shore. No rules to the people who provide this water sports.

Review 29:The staff was very friendly and always willing to make you feel comfortable. We love the Villa where we stay at , it was incredible big and comfortable, the villa's pool clean and provide a privacy that we were looking for. Breakfast fair enough and tasty. Many option to eat outside the hotel, just walking along the beach.

Review 30:Just a minor thing with the television channel list not a biggie.

Review 31:Great location, excellent food and a very hospitable/friendly hotel staff. A gorgeous property.

Review 32:- far from patong and where most Phuket activities are... - they will call u to clean the room even if u have the sign "do not disturb"..

Review 33:- staff very friendly and helpful.. - breakfast was very good.. - pool is amazing - internet is good with good speed

Review 34:Location can be a pain if you don't have wheels (we did so wasn't really a problem). On the other hand, location perfect if you want to get away from everything! For a light sleeper the sound of the air conditioner can be quite loud and sounds from other rooms can be heard too well (we were moved to a corner room on the top floor after complaining, this made all the difference).

Review 35:The staff was extremely nice and helpful and always smiling. Hotel facilities were quite comfortable, although the place is due an upgrade due to age (which appears to be going on for rooms) but rooms were comfortable and clean. free wifi is excellent!

Review 36:The staffs are exceptionally polite and friendly. The staffs quickly changed the room when we smelled the smoking from the neighbor room because of the central air conditioning system.

Review 37:A little bit of entertainment during the day like having some music in the pool area would be nice.

Review 38:Breakfast was brilliant and the rooms were always attended and clean

Review 39:Club rooms are small and the picture shown is not in reality the way it is. Picture shows room to be directly on the beach but its not. Also the view is not of directly the sea but we were overlooking the Italian restaurant. Club room benefits are also not that great. To have the evening tea and predinner snacks in the hotel lobby is no fun. Predinner snacks is kind of a joke as they only include some pieces of carrots and nuts. We certainly have had a better deal at other Laguna hotels.

Review 40:Breakfast was really excellent.

Review 41:so happen there was renovation to one of the restaurants.

Review 42:great experience, friendly and very accommodating staff. Nice facilities all round. thanks for the upgrade from lagoon view to sea view room. I have requested for a later check out and was provided with one. Thrilled.

Review 43:Pool water was not very clean when we stayed there.

Review 44:Excellent service by all staff. Very friendly and helpful. Great location at a more quiet part of Phuket. Loved the breakfast buffet and the Thai restaurant.

Review 45:Room decor/furnishing old & tired. At check in they tried to charge me 3 X the booked rate. Reception staff not 'happy' people. In house tour booking desk double price against booking outside. In house price for all day mini bus, 7,000 Baht. At hotel entrance (the same taxi firm) only 3,500 Baht.

Review 46:In the light of day, the views & location compensate for any negative aspects

Review 47:The breakfast has good variety but the service needs to be friendlier at breakfast... I felt the display was too cramped..

Review 48:Lovely beach and good facilities to hang out by the pool and the beach.... Ocean facing room has views of the ocean, was good and you can hear the waves from the balcony...The club rooms are spacious and the extra services are excellent incl the happy hours, extra at breakfast.... The staff were very helpful

Review 49:Our room was on a corner with no sea view and we had constant noise coming from some motor room in front of our terrace. Unsightly hoarding and works taking place at block next to us. Breakfast to be honest was normal nothing special and was nothing compares to what I'm used to in the Middle East hotels. For the price you pay we should get airport transfers. Hotel taxi was three times more than regular taxi. Download grabtaxi app for booking taxi it's amazing and cheap! Paying for club room has no special real privileges and their is no club lounge just a tea hour for one hour a day.

Review 50:Location, facilities, staff and spa were all amazing.

Review 51:Everything seems to close earlier than I would imagine for a resort location, which means if you get back a little late in the evening, the restaurants are closed and only limited room service is available, which means you have to decide to stay in town to eat. Laguna Villas are excellent.

Review 52:Location next to the beach, but far enough away from the entertainment area of Phuket.

Review 53:If i have to pick at straws then I would say that it was a big pity that the beach bar and club by the gym was not open as it would have been a nice change from the lobby. Underneath the swimming pool of the hotel could do with some work. Pieces are falling off and you step on them in the swimming pool. Waitresses at breakfast should be advised not to put pots of tea and coffee infant of babies!

Review 54:The staff were so, so lovely - not one could be faulted. The location is excellent. This was a return visit for us and we will come back again.

Review 55:It was rainy season a little more sunshine would have been an added bonus.

Review 56:A great family holiday with our two teenage children age 13 and 15yrs old. Loved the caring friendly staff, clean spacious two bedroom villa with roof top pool and the main pool area and comfortable lounge chairs and the beautiful food.

Review 57:Bar was pretty much the hotel lobby, and not very interesting but there were other places to go so few used the bar in the hotel .

Review 58:Had the two bed villa with roof top pool. It was lovely, rooms were large with views of the lagoon. We had the facilities of the hotel but the luxury of our own villa. Very clean. Also other hotels and local eateries close by. We hired a car to travel around Phuket.

Review 59:Nothing about the hotel but unhappy about the new laws with no more beach bars or that the hotel may not put any sun loungers on the beach.

Review 60:Location is superb and literally right on the beach. The staff are the best, friendly, courteous and so willing to make our stay the best. Facilities are ideal and something for everyone (gym, putting golf, massages close to the pool, pool side restaurant with ice cold fresh coconuts, volleyball, table tennis, live music and happy hour at the bar, great excursions with entertaining guides, etc). Obviously out of season not all the restaurants are running but that's to be expected. Our pool villa was a sanctuary providing privacy and a space for all 8 of us to meet and relax as a family. Kitchen facilities are limited (no oven) but suffices for basic needs. Great fridge!

Review 61:Takes sometime to fix usually technical problems mainly because decisions have to be made by the 'higher' level. Nothing unusual for this place. It is very common in Asian properties, even of high standing.

Review 62:We had a two bedroom villa and it was really excellent, self contained and providing everything, even a good size small pool. Kind and reponsive staff.

Review 63:Expensive dining at resort, Transport to and from resort well and truly overpriced - 700 baht each way to Patong 12 Kilometer trip one way only.

Review 64:Privacy was perfect, Staff good, Excellent breakfast

Review 65:The staff are amazing even though we are staying during the peak weekend where the marathon event is located next to the hotel. The room is comfortable and everything meets 5-star standard. Definitely stay there again.

Review 66:Breakfast is not good. Cocktail is also not good although the hotel has a promotion eg 50% or buy 1 get 1 free. I think it still be not worth to pay.

Review 67:Location is too closed with Laguna Phuket International Marathon. Friendly staff, nice view, big room

Review 68:The Mosquitoes

Review 69:All the staff were very good polite and very friedly . And very helpful, it's a place you would go back too to see the place and staff

Review 70:This is an observation, not a complaint, but an extra bed in certain rooms may be very cramped. We managed to get around well enough though! You're far from town too! Only bad if you like to go see the sights.

Review 71:We arrived after a rather busy 10 days of adventure around the country, with my daughter, wife, and mother in law, and were immediately made to feel welcome and comfortable. The staff were especially kind and caring, especially with my daughter. Having a member of management staff stay some time to talk with me extended that personal touch beyond business to make the Dusit an excellent destination.

Review 72:1-old furnitures 2-staff need to be more active and enthusiasts 3-careless of some staff because of low season . 4-they gave me a room with lagoon view not sea view although hotel was almost empty.....it would be more appreciated if the reception manager order to upgrade me ....but he did nt.....dont know why?

Review 73:system and facilities

Review 74:Pool loungers had twigs and leaves all over them from the trees above. But it did provide good shelter from the sun.

Review 75:Lagoon view from room. Seafood BBQ from beachfront restaurant.

Review 76:The cafeteria within the hotel territory isnot that good. Extremely expensive, you can est cheaper and much tastier outside. The hotel is in the laguna so the transportation to nearest restaurant is a bit problematic...

Review 77:The beach is so nice.. Facilities are clean.. cozy atmosphere

Review 78:The resort was cosy in a nice sort of way. We were staying in the one bedroom suite and all the facilities and amenities were located within 20-30 meters away from the room. They had a back door to the garden where you could walk to the beach a short minute walk away. We liked the fact that everything was somewhat close by and with two young children, we appreciated the fact that we didn't have to walk too far to get to anywhere. The food in all the restaurants were very good too, and we never had an unpleaant experience. Overall, a very pleasant and satisfying stay. The kids loved it too.

Review 79:-the hotel restaurants have high prices and it is the only option for dinner - full of misbefaved russians with loud children

Review 80:room, pool, staff, the complex garden, the beach!

Review 81:Rooms on the ground floor are bad - smelly, humid, old. Rooms on the third floor are much, much better. Pool was dirty (we also saw a guy who was cleaning his shoes in the pool!!) due to many visitors.

Review 82:Kids playroom and playground are great. The person in charge of playroom was awesome - kids had many cool activities. The beach is nice, although there were big waves when we were there. Breakfast was very good. Italian restaurant was also nice. The staff is very nice.

Review 83:Prices for the food in the hotel restaurants are way above average European prices and on top of that 7% tax and 10 % service (which is not always deserved) is added to the menu price. This was very disappointing and we had to get food outside of the hotel.

Review 84:Everything was great, friendly people, great location, good food Pool villas are recommended, as add few advantages such as separate breakfast room, 4 o clock tea, few complimentary drinks and fruits every day. Very few people on the beach.

Review 85:What can I say...The hotel is amazing! The best thing is the staff, as it is very friendly, ready to help you any minute! The sea is right in front of the pool area, the rooms are quite spacious and the bed is very big! The hotel has an oriental design, that's what we really liked. It's not a modern and new building, nevertheless it is still in a good shape! The breakfast had a big variety including different kitchens as Asian as well as European ones. If you don't want to eat in the hotel, you can also take a free transfer to the restaurant area, that is full of different cafeterias and restaurants.

Review 86:It's 30-40minutes (depends on traffic )away from the city center where the shopping center are located. However , transportation by taxi are available and affordable

Review 87:The villas are great

Review 88:Everytime when I stay here, I should explain that my family consist of three persons and we need all stuff for 3. Very strange situation with sun beds: if some guest of the hotel gave tips for staff before, you can't stay in this sun bed for all period of his/her vacation, because they booked it for this guest. So you can choose just free sun beds. And one more: I asked for same room like before I've stayed, but hotel didn't consider this

Review 89:Here is my 6th time in this hotel. I love this place. Very good breakfast, I was really glad to see same staff. Club room is comfortable. I like small patio behind the room. I highly recommend Angsana spa in territory of the hotel. I noticed many nice small improvements: new line of cosmetic for shower (good level), new compliments for good night, new snacks for cocktails.

Review 90:Room aged, foul smell from very loud a/c, missing basics such as robes. Extreme disturbance from events within grounds/proximity

Review 91:Beautiful grounds and Thai atmosphere

Review 92:I did not luke the girl who is working in the shop. She was selling so high price. Amd not good behaviour.

Review 93:It was a perfect stay. I loved the pool and the seaside. The staff were so helpful. Everything and everywhere was so clean.

Review 94:I suffer from heat rash if I lie on plastic coated sun beds, therefore the fact there were canvas sun beds suited. Canvas is far better quality.

Review 95:The general layout. The great staff, and good food. Plenty of towels and sun beds.

Review 96:Drinks were expensive Hotel tried to make us pay for New Years Eve party which we did not attend Surprisingly few staff spoke good english

Review 97:Good position, excellent free transport around the laguna area. Helpful concierge and entrance staff Close to the beach, nice pool Breakfast was good and nice outside terrace

Review 98:Breakfast is NOT 5 Stars breakfast very limited products looks more like 4 stars Per night cost is very high !

Review 99:People are very very nice Service is great

Review 100:Slightly pricey restaurants within the Laguna which made us eat outside all the time. But it was an excuse to travel out of the Laguna.

Review 101:What's not to like! We loved it and really want to go again. The staff were brilliant.

Review 102:the lezard in the first room and in the second room. Staff tried to catch it each time but without success. We changed room first time then we gave up.

Review 103:We liked the pool, the beach was very large, the grass area before the beach with playground for children. Staff very nice and helpful.

Review 104:The pool and some rooms are looking a bit dated.

Review 105:The location, beach and staff were excellent. Main entrance is very pretty, and we loved the Thai style of decor.

Review 106:Motorbike rental from hotel recommended agent was abysmal. Rude hire-guy, breaks not working properly, no lights, way over priced. Would expect such a rip-off from corner shop, not from hotel approved vendor.

Review 107:Amazing place, everything was perfect - would recommend it to everyone and can't wait to go back there! Thanks to the staff for all there care and attention and for being so friendly and welcoming!

Review 108:room was a bit old, needs renovation, sometimes ants in the room, but they don't annoy.

Review 109:we loved almost everything at our stay at Dusit, friendly staff, 2 times cleaning a day, breakfast, beach were perfect

Review 110:From our arrival through to departure everything was in order. Staff friendly and efficient, room well maintained and good choice of food. Peaceful and quiet.

Review 111:barely nothing. if I have to find something to improve next time is end of Oct is still a bit early to spend the time on the beach, end of Nov will be just excellent!!

Review 112:very welcome staff, everything has been settled before we arrived. it is a place to have nothing to worried even arrived with a red eye flight. the villa with pool is really fascinating, the little one spend all the time running around and swim in the pool. and the tour counter in hotel is also very good that we can arrange all kinds of one day activities from elephant camp to tour to another island with pick up from the hotel and drop back to hotel after the activity, so really convenient for family with elders and kids. all the expenses can be cleared during check out so really relaxing time when stay in the hotel, even the tour can be put under the room.

Review 113:In the bathroom, there's no hair conditioner. They just provided the conditioning shampoo, which did'nt work. It was very difficult to comb my long hair after shampooing. The seaside resort should have it!

Review 114:We went to Thai Land for the first time to try it and couldn'tbelieve our luck!! This place was amazng and the staff could not doenough for you. We would definetly recommend it.

Review 115:The perception from the front desk staff is that all they want is tofind ways to get the most money out of your pocket.

Review 116:The restaurant staff, the cook, the food, the Thai restaurant, thebreakfast, the smell in the rooms, the music, the ocean in front of thebalconies, the decoration.

Review 117:The beach pub restaurant was shut which we were really looking forward to which resulted in us eating out in the evenings as the hotel became deserted.

Review 118:Amazingly friendly staff who went out of their way for us. Very efficient check in and staff gave us complimentary wine and chocolates on arrival as well as added little treats in the room such as fresh fruit, book marks etc daily. It is the little things that made our stay special.

Review 119:There needs to be more choices of places to eat. Food and beverage was rather expensive.

Review 120:Complimentary fruit and water. The cleaner put some aromatherapy on in the evening which was a nice touch as it made the room smell lovely. All staff were very friendly. My room was very comfortable and clean. The hotel was right on the beach. I had a body massage at the spa and it was amazing!

Review 121:I feel the cleanliness can be greatly improved.. In our villa there was 2 cockroaches and lots of ants in the ground floor in the kitchen, dining and living areas. Also in the master bathroom the tub had hair from previous tenant.

Review 122:The staff attention and friendliness was excellent. The free wifi available was great.

Review 123:guest service(normally, i had to aske more than three times to get what i needed) quality of food served in restaurant maintanence of pool villa(especially kitchen facilities. we could not use a stove, because it did not work!) also, poor hot water supply in the bath

Review 124:location, close distance to the beach

Review 125:Due to the windy weather, the sea was too unsafe to swim in the entire 2 weeks we were there, but that's to be expected in Monsoon season.

Review 126:The pool villa was fantastic, overlooking the laguna. The staff were friendly and helpful. The children (10 and 7) loved the main pool and the location induces a feeling of calm. Food was generally very good, and there are some fabulous restaurants to try outside the laguna complex (a walk or shuttle bus ride away). We did a couple of wonderful elephant trips, one of which was organised through the hotel.

Review 127:1. windows in room (master) were not properly sealed. this meant that we could hear the wind blowing and whistling loudly and i could not sleep. they took care of it eventually. 2. Hotel seemd run down. needs a re-vamp. very 80s and in need of a good update 3. food in general, breakfast in particular, are certainly not 5 star and all the resteraunts need updating

Review 128:rooms are great (we were in the 2 bedroom sea view villa with pool) staff were lovely and very helpful

Review 129:Hotel was fantastic and because of its location, size and facilities attracts many family groups in the summer. Pool always full and not easy to find space for a swim.

Review 130:Beautiful hotel, amid lush greenery. Very private. Rooms are fabulous and well maintained. Loved the turn down service each night. Staff friendly and efficient. Lovely white sandy beach. Food very good.

Review 131:Its a bit far from the main city..and the shuttle service provided by the hotel is pretty expensive..

Review 132:wonderful property..lots of facilities available..the breakfast spread was great.food and ambience at the cafe was great too..

Review 133:OUR ROOM HAD A SMELL BUT WE WERE SHIFTED WITHOUT ANY BOTHER BY STAFF

Review 134:WHEN I INJURED MYSELF THE STAFF WERE SO AMAZING AND KIND.. I HAD A BIG BASKET OF FLOWERS DELIVERED TO MY ROOM !!! STAFF ALWAYS WENT OUT OF THEIR WAY

Review 135:ambience was par excellence, and staff well groomed and mannered.extremely courteous. stay was indeed enjoyable....wanted to extend but due to prior commitments had to return to India.

Review 136:Small room (laguna view), pretty old furniture in the room, very noisy air conditioner, insects in the room on the first floor, tough dressing gowns, smell in the bathroom.

Review 137:Large territory, beautiful beach, friendly staff, good breakfast.

Review 138:Staff could have informed us that we were 5 minutes too early for happy hour. The spa was average. Not many transportation options to the airport.

Review 139:The staff were extremely hospitable and warm. Room was a relaxing haven. It was also good that the breakfast buffet was served till 11a.m.as our stay coincided with the World Cup! Little touches like extra bottles of water in the room, slippers to wear in the balcony, fresh fruit daily were a lovely touch.
