Reviews for Aliya Resort and Spa

Review 1:Being a big resort, it does get busy around the pool which was expected. Staff at reception weren't the most welcoming.

Review 2:Built to very high standards with great facilities. The pool is beautiful and the rooms immaculate.

Review 3:This a very big corporate hotel, not the peaceful eco retreat we hoped for and lacks real charm. Some of the hotel practices counter its environmental claims ie lights left on day after day in vacant rooms. Meals and drinks were expensive. Although the room was lovely, we stayed in equally nice places in Sri Lanka that represented much better value for money e.g 'the other corner' up the road in Habarana. Although they have free bikes for guest use, they cannot be taken off site and there isn't really anywhere to ride in the confines of the hotel grounds!

Review 4:Luxury tent was lovely. Great pool. Attentive staff. Excellent jazz player in the bar in the evening.

Review 5:Booking a specific table for our group for Christmas Eve was not done and had to wait a long time for our meal. We had paid additional amount for this and like a refund from the hotel

Review 6:More information for entertainment and site-seeing

Review 7:I was charged directly on my credit card used for booking without my consent after check out for some fees the hotel has forgotten to charge me . And I wasn't provided any evidence or bills as requested of the forgotten charges ...

Review 8:Location and Hotel design ; new and clean . Good buffet food and friendly staff .

Review 9:The location and view from the foyer were outstanding. We came to see the Lion Rock and the elephants at the Minneriya Park. This Resort was perfectly situated between the two. The staff were friendly and helpful. Facilities were great with a high level of cleanliness. We loved relaxing at the pool.

Review 10:This is only recommend it if you are into staying at a hotel with large bus tour groups. Not recommended for individual travelers. Food is totally tailored to meet European taste.

Review 11:Meals are worse than in guesthouses. Worst food we have tried in Sei Lanka, it is made for european people and it is incredibly expensive. Cold water in swimming pool. Drinks are nor cold enough. No details at all: they even charge you for bottled water in the room!

Review 12:Views from swimming pool. Room is large and very comfortable.

Review 13:The facilities were fantastic, the best infinity pool in the country, with a great view of sigriya rock. Free WiFi in your room, including the luxury tents. The variety of dishes served at dinner was huge and all very tasty.

Review 14:our driver had problems finding the hotel in full daylight, signage is quite poor. even when you know where you are going, you still miss the sign soemtimes. perhaps you could add the km on the address?

Review 15:this hotel has the best service, exactly what you expect of a luxury hotel: warm, yet professional. we noticed the difference with other similar places we stayed at. the food is fantastic (although pricey, 8 euros for a cocktail) and the facilities are amazing. you have a view of the Sigirya rock, and the pool is a dream, you can swim until 8pm which means... under the stars! we slept in a tent and it was a nice experience, perfectly comfortable and the most luxurious bathroom. it is in a good location to get to Sigirya and Dambulla. however, not much else around

Review 16:Wifi was not great in the room but adequate in the lobby, bar and restaurant.

Review 17:The grounds and the hotel itself were stunning. Staff were very friendly and tried their best to accomodate every request.

Review 18:nothing at all, everything was just perfect

Review 19:Hotel is brand new. Rooms are very spacious, separate WC from the shower/ bathtub, lavatory. Personel speaks good english, very helpful and professional stuff, nice big swiming pool with romantic lighting at night time, very good buffet (dinner and breakfast), the best one we had in Sri Lanka (good selection of vines). Good spa for reasonable price with rooms giving to a pond. The hotel is close to a lot of attractions (Sigiria, Polonnaruwa, Mineria national park etc). There are bicycles for rent, trails to walk, gym and other amenities, so you will never be bored no matter how the weather is.

Review 20:Personally I thought the ultra modern concrete architecture jarred with the wonderful landscape but I can see many might like it Felt a bit raw and charmless although staff trying very hard to add warmth Torrential downpour exposed some of the flaws in design of terrace - a leak in roof in one place and we all had to move back from outer seats as rain slewed in We moved to the cinnamon lodge which is lovely and a nature paradise plus much cheaper

Review 21:Fabulous infinity pool Kind friendly staff Good massage at lovely spa and quite reasonable

Review 22:Perhaps a bit "golden cage" since it is very good as a base for local attractions, but at The same time location kindly suggest you spend most of your evenings in The Resort.

Review 23:The pool is The true gem of this place, overlooking sigiryia rock. Lushy green alla around, animal noises pleasingly makes you feel in The middle of a jungle.. Which in a way it is. Staff is very helpful and polite.

Review 24:Long drive to/from Columbo.

Review 25:We stayed in a luxury tent - and it was luxurious!! We've travelled far and wide and never seen anything quite like this place.

Review 26:internet access does not work well in rooms

Review 27:Chrming hotel with a great pool. Stunning view! breakfast and dinner were excellent. we enjoyed our stay there and wish we could stay longer. Definitely recommended!

Review 28:A huge mess up on the bill. At present we have been charged twice & are trying to sort it out.

Review 29:The location & views were wonderful. The room extremely comfortable. Our driver said the driver accommodation was the nicest he had stayed in.

Review 30:Hot water wasn't working, window blinds broken. Neither were rectified satisfactorily during the stay.

Review 31:Great location, beautiful rooms and grounds.

Review 32:Free wifi didn't work in our rooms which were further from the main building.

Review 33:The setting, the incredible infinity pool (best I've been in) and the general design.

Review 34:The only downside I would say was at times the room service was slow or had to be reminded and called several times to get things done. But it's a minor frustration. Also the pool boys tend to check you out quite a bit when you're lounging by the pool (but what men don't do that everywhere in the world) - but at times could be slightly uncomfortable. They're very sweet tho and will bring you anything you need.

Review 35:The Aliya resort was beautiful from beginning to end. Being alone, I was t sure what to anticipate but the staff is absolutely amazing, the yoga trainer and instructor introduced himself & gave me a tour of all the facilities as well as casually playing a round of Badminton & checking my heart rate. He gives Yoga sessions but as I was too busy and quite tired after long trips, I couldn't go but it's free! The facilities, buffet dinner while music is performed live (a different kind kind each night) and the location is honestly beautiful. It's a dream. The pool is lovely and facing a landscape that oversees the Sigriya Rock. They have bicycles and tuk tuks to take you places though I had a driver & didn't require one. I stayed in the Luxury Tent and that was another dream - mind the bugs in the bathroom area though, which mostly come at night & are attracted to light so be sure to close the division zipper door between bathroom & bedroom and keep the bathroom lights off and you'll be fine :) The bathroom/tub is like a spa on its own and the wifi is impeccable, in the lobby and bedrooms. Location is close to everything, maybe 15 mins drive from the Safari rentals, Sigriya is around 20 mins but the drive is easy. If I ever go back to Sri Lanka, this is the first place in staying! Thank you for everything Aliya and lovely staff!

Review 36:This is a very unique place and I liked that it has a special atmosphere. The resort is spotless clean and the rooms are very well appointed. The gardens are kept inmaculate and the stuff is lovely as well. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting this part of Sri Lanka.

Review 37:Nothing!

Review 38:The most peaceful setting in the jungle overlooking the historic sigiriya lion rock from the infinity pool just breath taking. The Aliya service was exceptional, food excellent, and the tents well equipped for a truly unique stay. This is a well thought out Eco construction and you can see that everywhere on the property. Thoroughly enjoyable. Great spa and treatment rooms.

Review 39:We liked it all

Review 40:Beautifull resort, large swimmingpool, yoga lessons at 6am, great breakfast, excellent place to stay and make excursions to the historic sites in cultural triangle

Review 41:Although it has a great view of Sigiriya, it is a much longer drive to the park than other resorts. The concrete structure is rather large and overwhelming.

Review 42:The spa is beautiful with reasonable prices and an ayurvedic physician who is abailable for free consultations.

Review 43:The poor customer service

Review 44:Although the location for this hotel is pretty amazing I have to say I've been left incredibly disappointed by the service (or lack of) by the hotels staff. I tried to get in touch with them prior to arriving at the resort and found them frustratingly slow to respond or they just simply didn't reply. I've now tried to follow back up with them after I was told some mis information and suprise suprise no response. The price you pay for a night here isn't cheap but I think they should consider reviewing how they respond to their customers as this has left me very disappointed. I don't normally complain but I'm hoping this review might spur on a response.

Review 45:Luxurious ample room in a beautiful resort environment. Great pools (they even have a children pool!). Great buffet breakfast. Courteous and caring staff.

Review 46:Quite an expensive place to stay, so we couldnt afford to stay long. WiFi was slow

Review 47:The Luxury tents were super! Loved the view of Sigiriya rock. The pool is truly amazing in the night, with lovely little "floating" coloured lights. Would have loved to stay longer if it wasn't so expensive. Food was very good and the staff and service were excellent.

Review 48:Traveling many hours to get there, staff is a bit facile and short tempered. They need to pay attention to cleanliness of their dishes and cups, (coffee mugs with lipstick and coffee stains) gift shop hot no a/c, wi/fi not very strong, bugs in room.

Review 49:The fact that it is green and earth conscious.

Review 50:It is 7 miles away from Sigirya

Review 51:Everything. This is a superb hotel, staff are first class and the food is excellent. Pool is lovely and has fantastic views

Review 52:The staff at reception had a tendency to just agree, "yes sir", "of course sir", "yes right away sir", and then not deliver. For example we asked them to organise a guided tour of Polonawara and got them to confirm there would be an English speaking guide, on the day we ended up with a taxi, the driver of which had little English and even less knowledge of Polonawara! We ended up getting a tour guide in the town, which we'd recommend as a much cheaper and better way to do it than going with the hotels 'tours'. The Spa is a long way below the standard of Banyan Tree for example, although I only say that because that's the level the rest of the hotel lives up too.

Review 53:Pool view and setting second to none on our trip, lovely atmosphere in the hotel and stayed in both luxury tent and deluxe room which were both very good. Food was good and a good and very reasonably priced wine list. By far the best 5 star hotel we stayed in Sri Lanka!

Review 54:The pool is magnificent, beautifully well kept and quite shallow (could be a good or bad thing depending on your view). We stayed in a luxury tent which was beautiful and incredibly comfortable and most surprisingly, the food in the Sri Lankan restaurant was very authentic and among the best meals we had in the country. This is a great place to stay close to Sigiriya and if you're in the mood to chill out, i can't imagine a more comfortable setting for 2 nights than Aliya. Its on a different level than any other hotel we saw in the country.

Review 55:wifi in the rooms could be better. And the a la carte menu could have more varieties, especially more sri lankan options.

Review 56:it was a remarkable experience. the staff are very friendly, design of the hotel is great and the pool is amazing.

Review 57:The bed was quite hard.

Review 58:The room itself is great and the view from the pool is amazing. For us the room cost £40 for a night and it was one of the best hotels we stayed at in Sri Lanka. The food quality is above average for the country, a wide selection for the buffet and kept cool in a separated room to the seating.

Review 59:The dinner should have been included in the price.

Review 60:A really great place! The bugnalow is really nice! You feel like you're in the middle of the jungle. If you don't like the sounds of the nature you'd better get a standard room. Big swimming pool with amazing view. The breakfast was good.

Review 61:The rooms were not yet cleaned & ready past the check in time of 2pm. We arrived around 230pm & had lunch, but the rooms were still not ready even at 3pm & we had to wait awhile.

Review 62:Loved the entire place. The tent rooms were v.romantic. loved the pool as well & the food

Review 63:WiFi did not always work reliably. The staff managed to solve the problem each time, though, so this was not a big issue.

Review 64:After some issues at the beginning had been cleared, the efforts of the staff were very effective and the results exceeded our expectations of a top-level hotel. We can fully recommend this hotel to travellers who expect top-level service at a top location.

Review 65:Staff standing and waiting for tips all the time Bad internet connection Was very crowded in February Too loud in the evening in buffet restaurant Not enough choice of restaurants except buffet or Chinese Restaurant for dinner

Review 66:Very nice location Beautiful view of Sigiriya Rock Big swimming pool with not much people in the morning Nice rooms Fruit basket and bed decoration for Honeymoon

Review 67:Staff was a bit slow at times, but hotel was fully booked so maybe that's why. Food was average.

Review 68:Cool and trendy place, huge pool with super view of Sigiriya rock. Very nice and cozy rooms, super modern. An amazing place to stay

Review 69:- few possibilities for diner closed early. - staff very nice but absolutely ineffective (always to ask two or three times something before having it).

Review 70:The location is amazing and the facilities are very good.

Review 71:Wifi is unstable. Also the buffet dinner is average.

Review 72:The place is amazing especially the lobby and the pool. The service is top notch so are the facilities.

Review 73:Excellent friendly staff, great food and facilities. Food and drink more expensive than local places but still good value considering you are a captive audience and much cheaper than a comparable place in the uk would be. Really lovely pool and a very quiet gym with badminton court and table tennis all included as part of your stay. Really enjoyed our stay there.

Review 74:None...Aliya surpassed my expectations.

Review 75:Wonderful service, beautiful view, convenient location. Whether traveling alone or in a group, Aliya is the perfect hotel in Sirigiya.

Review 76:The location overlooking Sigiriya is breathtaking. Loved the tent/chalets giving the sense of being on safari with all the mod cons. The manager and staff were extremely courteous and professional.

Review 77:-

Review 78:everything was perfect, the luxury tent is superb, breakfast is good, al a cart menu is tasty, wellness aera is beautiful, perfect massage, helpful staff

Review 79:The restaurant The music in the lobby

Review 80:The Aliya spa and resort was perfect if you want to relax and just enjoy the facilities. The room was excellent and the infinity pool even better. The restaurant was a bit boring though and the music in the lobby was way to loud. But the staff was very helpful and all in all it was a great stay.

Review 81:There was nothing I didn't like . Everything was first class

Review 82:From the moment I was dropped off by my cab I knew I had chosen the right Hotel. The staff were first class they wasn't a question that they couldn't answer. My room was first class the food was fantastic nothing was a bother and I liked that the chef came out to speak to the clients. Having a cup of tea the minute I entered the front doors was first class. Well done I would highly recommend this hotel to my family and friends

Review 83:Spread of buffet could have been a bit more.

Review 84:The atmosphere and location was excellent.. Rooms were really good.. Good scenic view of the sigiriya rock and paddy fields. Every detail of the hotel was just up to date. Friendly staff..

Review 85:food variety; buffet main dishes and desserts should be improved. Huge taste difference between a la carte main dishes (very good) and buffet main dishes (poor).

Review 86:excellent staff and location. Loved the luxury tent and the pool!

Review 87:The quality of the food was not the best, wifi was slow.

Review 88:the location of the resort was amazing, the forest view, the pool, the design of the resort, its cleanliness. The staff at the restaurants were very polite, smiling all the time.

Review 89:Not a huge fan of buffet style dinners, although the choices were good. I would suggest the hotel offer a fine dining option for those guests who want to pay extra, rather than being herded in a large dining area

Review 90:Beautiful location with views towards Sigiriya. The pool area is stunning and the rooms are comfortable and well equipped. The staff were courteous and polite at all times.

Review 91:Not really close to any other restaurants. Buffet food was pretty awful but some things (curry) were nice, overall felt a bit like a kids' food hall... (breakfast was great though). The price for accommodation was too much though, then extra (service etc charges): more expensive than a 5-star hotel in Spain. Added to that credit charge fee charged on each night, on each drinks bill, on dinner bills. Should have been charged in one bill with one credit charge fee. Safari and excusrion prices way too high, negotiating a local tuk-tuk will get you the same for 50% cheaper. Conclusion - a hotel for people with tons of money but little independence or sense of adventure.

Review 92:Rooms, bathtubs, views, landscaped gardens and property, tent was fun and interesting, wiaters and new reception staff were trying very hard to please.

Review 93:Our room didn't get any wifi. Cold showers 80% of the time. I think this was because they use solar heating but since it was raining the 4 days we were there the showers were cold. Couldn't have a bath in the big tubs as water pressure too low, plug didn't work and cold water.

Review 94:This place is amazing. All rooms are big and lots of space. All brand new, lovely staff and big pool. Food was great. Christmas Eve dinner was delicious. Very close to sigiriya which is a must do for the climb. Lovely view.

Review 95:The concrete-architecture is a little bit "cold". WLAN only in public areas, so you have to walk to get connected. Larger travel-groups.

Review 96:You can use this hotel as a comfortable base to explore the surrounded area, like Sigiriya, Dambulla, Pollonaruwa, Elephant National Parks, etc. Nice Pool with great view to Sigiriya Rock, good restaurant, comfortable rooms, good Spa, nice staff.

Review 97:Tent room felt too confined and small and very humid during rainy spell. Hotel rooms are much larger and more comfortable. Need screens on bathroom windows so mosquitos and other insects don't come in. Wifi spotty in the rooms, but weather could have been a factor.

Review 98:Lovely hotel, beautifully landscaped, great infinity pool overlooking Sigiriya rock; gorgeous art in the lobby; buffet breakfast and dinner offer a great selection - Christmas buffet dinner was fantastic. Very friendly staff

Review 99:No! We'll be back for Definate!

Review 100:Can not recommend Aliya enough, an absolutely perfect break. The staff, the food, the location and ambience were all first class...!

Review 101:We cannot recommend this hotel enough. It has everything you can ask for and more. The staff is amazing and super attentive! The food is the best quality. The rooms are exquisite, beautifully decorated and extremely clean. Best bed ever! The pool is outstanding simply breathtaking. It looks too good to be true and it really was. It was a true pleasure and treat to stay three nights at Aliya.

Review 102:The room is about 15 km from Sigiriya, which is a bit annoying if you depend on public transport. The only thing which bothered me was the reception. They didn't pick my call when I wanted to find the hotel nor when I wanted help with my baggage during checkout. Also to reach the place, there is a very small sign board in the middle of nowhere which indicates to take a turn to reach the hotel. It is very difficult to recognize this small sign at night.

Review 103:We lived in the tent delux room, which was a very good experience. The resort in general has nice facilities, awesome breakfast, good view of Sigiriya over the swimming pool. I was totally happy with the room and the facilities.

Review 104:One mishap occurred when we ordered off the very expensive a la carte menu on the day of arrival. It is crazy expensive even by five star standards. A seafood pizza was ordered at 1600 rupees and once it arrived I could not believe how small it was - roughly about 15cm in diameter. Our lovely waitron had a chat with the chef and had an extra one ordered at no extra cost and sent it to our room. Regardless, Aliya needs to reconsider the prices of their food as it left a bad taste. However, I cannot find fault in the staff's ability to make their guests happy.

Review 105:Almost everything. The hotel is a mere 11km from the Rock Fortress and I cannot see why people complain about It being too far as one has to drive from almost all other resorts and hotels. Plus you get to see elephants and interesting things along the way. The architecture is impressive and the resort is Green rated without sacrificing any luxuries. It does not feel commercialized at all. Probably the most comfortable bed I've slept in. Facilities are on point. Clean. Apart from the amazing pool there is also yoga in the morning, a gym, rice paddies, chess, a jewery store, etc. The reception staff member was so kind to us. Live and subtle Sri Lankan music at the bar at night. View of Sigiriya Rock Fortress. I would definitely recommend this resort of you are in the market for tranquility and peace and can appreciate an institution which cares for the community and the environment. The best stay I've had in Sri Lanka.

Review 106:Wifi isn't that great in the room

Review 107:The biggest plus is the view on the Rock and the pool. The hostess was very nice. Service is great, rooms are spacious and very modern. The food was great; the buffet and a la cart. A little bit expensive for Sri Lankan standards. Beer is 500. Hamburger 1250. Luch menu 2000. Dinner/Buffet 2300 rupees. For the quality I have seen, still a good price. Best place to stay when visiting the cultural triangle.

Review 108:The buffet dinner is a bit of a bun fight. Would suggest the hotel offer a la carte/fine dining for those want a change from buffet

Review 109:When you first arrive and walk up the steps to reception, the view is breathtaking with Sigiriya in the background. Great pool, lovely staff

Review 110:The dining area would benefit from over head fans or air conditioning

Review 111:We stayed in a family suite which consisted of a king bed downstairs and twin beds upstairs. Both areas had their own air conditioning unit. As in many Sri Lankan hotels the bathroom was not air conditioned. It was spacious with separate private cubicles for the shower and toilet. The large deep bath was in the main section of the bathroom. Anyone visiting should watch the hotel's documentary on its development and interaction with the local community. It is fascinating.

Review 112:However the men at the counter weren't really helpful. Tips seem to be expected to get them smile. The wifi is not available in all the rooms. The resort is quite far from the rock at least 30 minutes by taxi.

Review 113:The view on the rock is amazing and the swimming pool is awesome ! The bedrooms are well arranged huge and spotless.

Review 114:WiFi - only in lobby / restaurant. Buffet choice could be better.

Review 115:Cleanness, new room, location, pool with exciting view. Go to pool at a dark - you will get amazing experience. Deluxe hotel.

Review 116:Service was poor. we had to wait for everything. Waiting time was way too long. I had to keep trying to reach reception for 30 minutes, no one was picking the calls. We ordered for a irn box which we never got. For check out it took them 3 reminders and 30 minutes to send the bell boy

Review 117:Everything except service and staff.

Review 118:Would have liked to borrow the umbrellas for our ride back to Colombo. The warm water was a little limited but not really an issue.

Review 119:Aliya exceeded any expectations. The resort is beautiful and the tent experience was unforgettable. The staff was so attentive to making sure we could see all the sites we wanted to. The food was excellent and perfect for a blend of Sri Lankan food and world cuisine - dinner was one of my favorite meals in Sri Lanka.

Review 120:Food could have been better, drains were backed up due to heavy rain (monsoon season) smelt a bit in the bathroom

Review 121:Great stop to visit local sights (sigiriya rock and local temple). Bar was nice with good view. Room was very nice and setting was pretty cool

Review 122:Not enough hot water (it would run out very quickly) and a bit of noise from the road.

Review 123:We stayed in a luxury tent, was very clean, good breakfast, nice staff, beautiful pool and views.

Review 124:Nothing

Review 125:Everything : staff VERY VERY kind, excellent food (breakfast buffet and dinner buffet), the place just amazing (very close to dambulla, sigiriya and pirudangala rocks), the swimming pool, the room... After 2 weeks in sri lanka, this hotel was my best experience ! I will come back for sure

Review 126:Buffet style dinner mainly targeted at westerners - would have preferred more authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. Slightly longer drive to sigiriya rock than we were expecting but not too long.

Review 127:Great view of sigiriya rock. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great welcome. Lovely room - very spacious and comfortable. Nice pool area.

Review 128:Wifi reception not great in the suite but it is a fairly big place. Wasn't told about the Sri Lankan restaurant and that would need to book the day before for it to be open which was a real shame as limited Sri Lankan cuisine on ala carte menu and would have loved to eat in the other restaurant!

Review 129:Suite was amazing! The staff were very friendly and helpful! The view is stunning from the main pool! Fabulous facilities! Not far from sigiryia to climb the rock! favourite place I stayed in Sri Lanka!

Review 130:Hotel needs to have people attending all the calls. Much of the time- the housekeeping staff, the reception etc don't pick up their phones and it is inconvenient cause the rooms are far from the lobby. On the way to the hotel, when we got a little lost- we could not get through the hotel number even after several tries. This was early evening.

Review 131:The hotel is beautiful. Lovely pool and surroundings with a good view of the Sigriya Rock. The rooms are on the first floor and the ground floors in a cottage type setting. There is a slight walk to the rooms in a rural landscape. That is pretty... A flight of stairs leads to the hotel lobby and restaurants so if you have difficulty climbing stairs- do take note. The infinity pool is gorgeous and food is great.

Review 132:We stayed in a luxury tent which was lovely but our neighbours made quite a but of noise during the night zipping and unzipping their tent.

Review 133:This was one of the nicest hotels we stayed in on our trip - amazing view of Sigria, lovely pool. Nice bar and restaurants and very helpful staff. Thanks for a great trip - we were sorry we were only staying for one night!

Review 134:Sorry we had booked it for only one night. The lion rock is very visible but not real close

Review 135:A fine place to cool off after doing the Lion Rockl. The buffet and breakfast were good. Staff very efficient and friendly, Our driver thought the facilities for drivers were the best he had ever experienced.

Review 136:wifi connection but hey! who needs it when you're on holiday?

Review 137:Booked originally for 1 night for my birthday but just have to extend for another night. It's just the place to be. Liked every single aspect in this hotel. Got a superb view, great food, not too expensive. Was amazed when we saw peacock roaming around. To be honest, was and is surprised it's not a 5 Star hotel!!!

Review 138:The bathroom is aired to the outside, so if you like it to be cold andair conditioned in the bathroom then it might not suit you. Personally Iwas not bothered. Wifi in the rooms is intermittent, but works perfectlyin the reception/bar area. Otherwise I cannot fault this hotel.

Review 139:The rooms are very large and comfortable for the price and the staff areextremely friendly and helpful. All the sockets in the rooms are multi-plugs themselves so you don't need any adapters. The pool view isamazing overlooking the Sigiriya site of Lion Rock. The breakfast is abuffet and is of good quality with all options catered for (continental, european cooked, curry etc.). There are three locations to eat fordinner as well as a bar snack menu with portions big enough to be a mealin itself for most. The dinner buffet is of a good quality. The hotelcan provide bikes if you want to use them to go cycling. The location isan excellent base for the whole cultural triangle. Sigiriya is about 15minutes away, Dambulla 30 minutes maximum, Polonoruwa around an hour andAnuradhapura just a little more so you could stay here and see all ofthem without moving around. During our two week stay in Sri Lanka westayed in a number of high end resorts and came to the conclusion thatoverall this hotel was the best value for money of anywhere that wevisited (we paid the standard rate for a deluxe double room for 2people, not a discounted one). I agree with other reviewers that whenthe hotel becomes better known then the price will rise rapidly!

Review 140:The food was good though a greater variety would be welcomed.

Review 141:I instantly fell in love with this hotel. It has a grand but welcoming entrance and a wonderful view out over the pool. Everything was comfortable, luxurious and yet practical! I'm already planning my visit back.
