Reviews for Tromsø Camping
Review 1:I ran out of hot water when taking a shower. Since only my friend took a shower before that, I don't think she could used up a large amount of water.
Review 2:Staff.
Review 3:There is no only double bed in the cottages. The double bed has a single bunk bed on top which is something I didn't like.
Review 4:The location was amazing! A little outside the city so there is a higher chance to see the aurora lights. I loved the small cottages.
Review 5:There was one receptionist who was not helpful neither "cool" at all, so you didn't felt welcomed, on the other side the other receptions was awesome, really cool guy
Review 6:Awesome place, really near from city center, easy access, a taxi from the airport will be 200 to 300 NOKs (€20 to €30 approx), we saw some northern lights from the place but the place itself still has a lot of artificial light, so you will be able to see some lights but it's better to go to a more darker place
Review 7:Queen bed would be nicer than 2 singles. Some basic things like cooking oil would be nice. Being able to hire cross country skis from reception would be awesome. ...
Review 8:Nice modern comfort cabin. ...right on the creek. ... lots of snow. Close enough to town. ...
Review 9:Both our cabins old and smell moldy. Wifi hardly existing, only sometimes at use. Breakfast one bread, apple juice, some fruits, cheese, some salmon and sausage, milk and coffee. Nothing else. Second bread arrived about 10 minutes after the first one had been eaten. Hardly worth 100NOK. Otherwise also heavily overpriced.
Review 10:Location not bad.
Review 11:1) Small beds 2) Virtually no kitchen equipment 3) Poor wi-fi 4) Preference not given to families on chalet location, best given to single people who were clearly workers 5) crazily over-priced for standard provided 6) some reception staff grumpy
Review 12:Camp location
Review 13:Slightly out of town, which we knew about in advance. Not a problem for us, but if not really mobile it is a trek! Only thing I can think of!
Review 14:Comfortable accomodation
Review 15:The location isn't quite far away from the city and the airport which is a plus. We had a great time while we were there.. Very informative and helpful staff.
Review 16:The camping coulb be an ideal place to observe nothernlights, but too much light pollution in the area! It could be easy to improve by adapted lighting in the site.
Review 17:good compromise to observe nothernlights not far from Tromso.
Review 18:Heater not work that make us feel cold at nights in winter time, not enough hot water for shower that we have to take shower by cold water, no hairdryer in room, we booked for 3 persons but only with 2 sets bedlinen and towels, many street lights too bright make us difficult to take photo for northern light
Review 19:Location can see northern light
Review 20:The Wifi is pretty bad with a strange log-in system. You get a receipt with a password from reception on arrival, but be aware that it only works per device. So if you have a family of four with multiple phones and iPads etc, you will need a lot of passwords! However the staff were happy to give out more passwords if requested. The signal was really bad and often not available, but it was enough for us to check bus times, email etc.No bus timetables given out unless you specifically ask for one. There is one in the reception on the wall otherwise. Would personally recommend downloading the Tromso bus app as it is more understandable.A taxi at night from town to the camp site is very expensive (around 220NOK or £20) - obviously this isn't Tromso Camping's fault, but if you are doing any aurora chases be aware that no buses run after midnight to this location so you will need to spend out on a taxi. For us it was worth it.Although I appreciate winter in Tromso is extreme, the path to the reception was an ice-rink! Being with my mother in her late 50's this posed a challenge getting in and out! Some time clearing the reception area would be appreciated, as would using more than a sprinkling of grit on the walking areas. If you want to get in and out of your cabin safetly you have to clear it yourself too.The cabin itself could do with some updating and although it didn't ruin our experience in anyway, small things can make a difference. The front stove didn't heat to boiling, the towel rack in the bathroom was 6ft up the wall, there was a lack of basic cooking equipment (no can opener and not one to hire from reception either. Had to borrow from the kitchen staff eventually) and some of the equipment was even broken. When you are self-catering this is important. Also, the sponges available to clean dishes with were fairly dirty and well used, while the bathroom sink was blocked and slow draining.
Review 21:The camp site is situated in Tromsdalen at the base of some mountains, which makes for nice views. The area is quiet and there was no noise at night. The site was slightly tricky to get too as a first time visitor, particularly on the local bus network, which isn't the best. If you don't enjoy walking this might be a problem for you, but for us it wasn't an issue at all. There is a local bus stop under 10mins walking distance from the accommodation, which has regular buses (number 24 and 20, which get to town in under 4mins and come at 10min intervals). The day pass for the bus is 90NOK (£7) and lasts 24 hours so is good value for money. You can buy this on the bus, along with single tickets that last 90mins. These cost 50NOK on the bus or 35NOK in advance (buy on Tromso ticket app) Would personally recommend the day ticket if you plan on travelling around a lot to sights.A taxi in the day is fairly reasonable. From the airport to the camp site is around 200NOK (£18). So if more than two people, that is a better option than navigating public transport. The cabins are quaint, clean and although not large, are more than big enough for a family who will be out exploring and not spending a lot of time inside. The kitchenette is very basic, two stove tops, fridge (no freezer), microwave and two kettles. Basic kitchen equipment is also provided (plates, cutlery, saucepan, cups, glasses etc). You can self-clean at the end of the stay or pay 450NOK to have it done for you. All the cleaning equipment is provided, although you need to go pick up the vacuume cleaner from reception if you need it.We stayed in a Garden-view Cottage, which had two bedrooms, each with a bunk bed. The beds were very comfortable. Linen and towels can be rented, which were clean and fresh.Heating was very good once it got going too.The staff were really helpful and friendly when we needed assistance and answered all out questions.
Review 22:The camping site is good value for money, but if you are not into walking then you are looking at spending 20-25£ each way for transportation. The bus stand is a bit of a walk and if you are 3 ppl then you would spend the same on a bus as on a taxi. Personally , I would stay in the City center and save that money on transportation to pay a bit more for a city center hotel
Review 23:Wifi is BAD, very BAD. Noises when it was windy. Like a horror movie. Mixed experience. Beds were VERY UNCOMFORTABLE.
Review 24:The location for the northern lights, the cleanliness, heaters everywhere. Location for the northern lights.
Review 25:Reaching the place was a bit tricky. After passing the bridge our GPS got confused which road to choose but succeeded by the end. A bit pricey.
Review 26:Excellent and supportive staff, made arrangements for our late arrival, advised nice sites to see. Good place to observe northern lights. Not far from the city center. We liked the Christmas dinner with traditional dishes.
Review 27:No one was there for check in - our keys were left in a green mail box which was hard to find in a snow storm. We booked the wrong dates but as no-one was there at check in we went alerted to this until we checked out (a day early). Not their fault but could have been remedied if we'd had contact with them at check in. After it rained and the snow cleared we found the front porch was covered in cigarette ends. The internet was free and generally good but it required a time sensitive code and password to log in - these have to be picked up from reception - which is fine but ours dropped out a couple of times and we had to keep going to reception. Small bedrooms with two twin beds - not comfortable doubles.
Review 28:Well kitted out kitchen - easy to cook most things we wanted to. Location was very quiet and peaceful. Great if you have a car (not so great if you don't - it is a cold walk to the city in December). Good internet and nice TV.
Review 29:I liked everything about the camping, There was a little bit of confusion when we got there abouth my booking, but they were very kind and and took care of everything that I asked for and some.. They went out of their way to make us happy and we were.. One suggestion is to book the bigger, more comfortable cabin when you go there. Those cabins are awesome.. Thank you Tromso Camping, we had a wonderful time there!!!
Review 30:The cabins are so cozy, nice and warm. It is just feel like home. If you are there to see the northern light, you can simply see it from the yard. We really love to stay there, very cozy.
Review 31:Very cute wooden hut, and the beds are super comfy!
Review 32:Great location, the staff is very friendly and helpful ,the cabin was excellent.
Review 33:house smells badly. Not cleaning at all. And there was no chance to see northern lights at all based on its location.
Review 34:Warmer not good makes the floor too hot, the breakfast not ready on time. Only suitable for own drive travellers
Review 35:Staffs helpful
Review 36:friendly staff useful support clean nice cabin would like to stay again
Review 37:Very nice staff at reception
Review 38:No enough towels, no room cleaning at all from day one to day 5.
Review 39:The size of the room, hot bath and worm room
Review 40:heater not warm, sofa bed is unclean
Review 41:Bathroom basin ridiculously small.
Review 42:Just perfect comfort luxyry cottage! We will come back some day!

Review 58:wifi is too slow and how to log-in is a bit inconvenience
