Reviews for Ecotel Quinta Regia
Review 1:The property was in a slightly more run-down part of town, not on the same street as fancier hotels, although still very close to the Plaza. I guess this is how they managed to get such a large property.
Review 2:The property is very beautiful, with a large parking lot as we drove into Valladolid, a "secret" garden between the buildings, and a very nice swimming pool and restaurant.
Review 3:5 star qualification on Booking.com. Incredible. Food is very poor. The worst pizza's we ever ate.
Review 4:locstion of the room after 3:00 am. Until 3:00 am we heard the rock music of a nearby disco
Review 5:The location: it is not so far away from the square, but it is not a very nice path to walk. It is very desolate during the night. Wifi was really bad.
Review 6:the room was very clean and spacious
Review 7:We arrived early (around 10am) and the receptionist gave us an available room immediately. When we discovered my boyfriend's phone was stolen on the bus, the receptionist helpfully placed calls to the bus station to report the theft and follow up. The room was comfortable and tastefully arranged. I loved the chocolate soap!
Review 8:Confusing how breakfast is supposed to be one price but if you don't order in advance it's another. Quality of the food is not great.
Review 9:Charming hotel with nice gardens.
Review 10:The room was so clean and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and large enough to move around in. We had a quiet courtyard view. We ate dinner and breakfast in the hotel restaurant and had one of our better meals of the trip there. Everything about this place was nice and we would highly recommend it.
Review 11:Nice room and helpful staffs. We ordered room service and the food was delicious and delivered fast.Located in a quiet down close to Chichenitza. Wanna stay again.
Review 12:bed comfort could be better, staff doesn't speak English too well.
Review 13:hotel area is really great, buildings and rooms architecture just great, lovely swimming pool
Review 14:To call this hotel a 5 stars luxury hotel is probably the city's best kept joke. Because it's far from that. Although the premises is well constructed there is so much wrong with operations. Just a couple of irritations: - no Internet / wifi signal. Although the hotel praises it self with all round Internet. The front desk lady helped me out with a wifi code so I could go online in the lobby but didn't really bother to make sure the wifi in the rooms would work again as other guests complained about it too. - very noisy a/c which leaks water out of the machine on the wall and ground floor - very light curtains so you wake up the moment the sun rises. - very thick blankets as if it was winter time (more than 35 degrees Celcius outside) - toilet flush didn't work properly - penetrant sewer smell in the shower - breakfast was tasteless, service as if I was a local gas station 'eat in'. - some of the staff looked really bored and far from being service oriented. I wouldn't be as critical of the hotel was rated with a 2 or maybe 3 stars but if you have 5 stars on your front door you really should offer way better service than this. I'm very disappointed. The problem is probably bad management because this hotel with its features doesn't have to be like this. I won't however never come here again.
Review 15:- Some of the staff is quite friendly. - rooms are big - balcony is okay
Review 16:The property is very flush in vegetation with abundant fruit trees. Once for breakfast we asked the waiter what fruit was the one we saw entering the restaurant and he went to pick up some for us!
Review 17:Restaurant urgently need an upgrade in many ways: personal, decoration, menu ..
Review 18:Good hotel near the center of the city. Good clean rooms and very nice garden. Efficient reception.
Review 19:The wifi on the first floor didnt work at all. They tried to fix it but nothing happend. After two days we complained and wanted to get a new room on the second floor and we asked for a free breakfast because of the no wifi in two days. We had to stand in the hallway with a lot of mosquitos to be able to work. The manager offerd a 20 pesos discount! Its such a bad serviceminded way. 20 pesos! If They dont have wifi in all rooms it should sak that in when you book. The poolarea was nice but They had there garage very near and it smeld awful sometimes. The pool was a bit dirty.
Review 20:Nice cleaning. The man in the reception tried to help us much.
Review 21:Nothing bad - All good
Review 22:As independent travellers driving our own car secure parking is important. Their parking was spacious, secure, behind locked gates as a part of the complex. REAL ONSITE PARKING... Hotel easy to find because of city grid street system. Beautiful property and good food. Highly recommended.
Review 23:the difficult location, the very noisy AC, the scarce water from the shower
Review 24:The location in Cancun pueblo, more authentic than the unbearable hotel zone
Review 25:Location, value, comfort, pool, everything. A real hidden gem - underrated, we loved this hotel and recommend it to anyone as a convenient stay over when visiting Chichen Itza and Ek Balam ruins!
Review 26:You'll need Spanish to communicate with the staff! They're all very kind and did their best
Review 27:Beautiful facilities, rooms, gardens, pool, tennis court! Old-world elegance for an incredible price
Review 28:disappointing restaurant, poor food & drinks, waiter tried to over-charge - meant long trips to town for food Name misleading, nothing "Eco" about it, huge area devoted to car-parking
Review 29:large room, quiet at night, comfortable bed. Our lost property was promptly returned to reception.
Review 30:The breakfast could be much better. Also they require you to pay the breakfast right at the table, which I find a bit weird. Usually you pay your bill during check-out.
Review 31:Rooms are spacious and clean. Everything worked properly. Nice balcony.
Review 32:A little far from the city centre. A little mix up at check in with prices being charged in US $ when I had booked in CDN $ but it was quickly rectified.
Review 33:Beautiful property and gardens. Don't forget your tennis raquette! Very quiet for an excellent night's sleep. The room was very spacious and included a coffee perk and a fridge. Safe parking for the car.
Review 34:Shower frequently didn't have hot water.
Review 35:It's like a piece of rainforest has been wrapped inside the hotel. It is quiet and relaxing and beautiful.
Review 36:Small bathroom - difficult to get around in a wheel chair Several blocks from the city center
Review 37:Hotel management was very helpful as we had to switch room due to one of us is in a wheel chair Good breakfast serving Free parking Beautiful garden Tennis court and swimming pool Great drinks in the bar
Review 38:Noisy one night due to group of rowdy gringos in the car park below balcony.Doubt if this happens often but should have been shut up (didnt last long)
Review 39:Lovely hotel in colonial like buildings. surrounded by orchard. beautiful pool and nearby bar. Near to centre. Really nice large rooms with balconies.
Review 40:Kitchen area small. Had microwave, coffee maker, small sink and fridge (fridge was locked, needed deposit to open). We felt that kitchen area could be expanded to include a small cooktop and some cookware.
Review 41:Big rooms and bathrooms, restaurant had friendly staff, menu worked well for our breakfast.
Review 42:I didn't mind so much, but the hot water wasn't working when we got there. The weather was too hot for a hot shower anyway. Though, my wife didn't agree. Also, the food and drinks weren't at ideal prices.
Review 43:I loved the architecture and especially the plants. Limes, Starfruit, and various other fruits that were foreign to me. The room was very clean and the property looked very well maintained.
Review 44:Not walking distant to town/plaza/church
Review 45:The hotel was beautiful. Rented three rooms each with two double beds. They added a single in each, no extra charge, and still plenty of room. Grounds well kept
Review 46:Long line on reception, took a lot to check in.
Review 47:Location
Review 48:A beautiful hotel within walking distance to the plaza- a fantastic bargain!
Review 49:i hurt myself in the hotel and needed some help. they said they couldn't.
Review 50:the swimming pool was good
Review 51:Wifi and the location
Review 52:The place
Review 53:Not clean!
Review 54:Rooms not very large
Review 55:Garden Town Clean
Review 56:Nothing
Review 57:Everything, nice pool, comfy bedrooms, location close to Chichen Itza, Urban Cenote close by.
Review 58:If your reservation is in Dollars, make sure you can pay cash in Dollars. (very bad exchang rate, or extra charge for creditcard!)
Review 59:Good food, friendly
Review 60:Wifi is not accessible form room. Better to connect from lobby area
Review 61:Room is nice. It is big and clean.
Review 62:The facilities, the price are very good. And it's very quiet. We like it.
Review 63:Customer Service at the front desk and the restaurant was excellent. The food was great, rooms were lovely and it's in a perfect location :)
Review 64:More a resort. A bit far outside. Laundry overpriced.
Review 65:beds were too soft. Windows in bathrooms would be appreciated.
Review 66:nice big bedrooms. beautiful gardens. big free parking area.
Review 67:nothing
Review 68:Big comfy room, lovely pool, quiet location but walkable to town, parking good, lovely guy in restaurant
Review 69:very clean, rooms where perfect for our needs
Review 70:To hard pillows!! Swimming pool a bit dirty
Review 71:Nice Room with balcony in the garden. Very good location near from city centre and a big supermarket.
Review 72:Nothing in particular, only be aware it is not a real 5 star.
Review 73:Graciuos and big room with wifi, bed comfort, onsite complimentary parking
Review 74:No refrigerator in room. I had medicine that needed to be kept cool. I had to buy ice everyday for my cooler to keep my medicine cool. There was no ice machine in the hotel available for quests. Only the higher end rooms had refrigerators.
Review 75:Situated in a quiet area of Valladolid. The grounds were beautiful, as was our room.
Review 76:Not a good idea to be there during a major holiday weekend (Benito Juarez) as it did get very loud and noisy into the middle of the night!
Review 77:everything.... I would definitely stay there again....
Review 78:No breakfast included The temperature of the water in the shower. It is not working fine. One day I needed to have a shower with cold water.
Review 79:Value for money Free Parking
Review 80:It was a little far from the center of town. I wasn't wild about the tour buses full of folks that arrived. And wasn't particularly taken by the restaurant.
Review 81:Very comfortable bed and pillows. It was a nice room in a nice facility. What was a joy was how quiet it was. It was a little far from the center of town, yet that was a big part of why it was a more quiet location. Parking was great also. Easy access to Ek Balam another spot not to be missed. If I'd know how much I would like Quinta Regia I would have stayed longer.
Review 82:The large garden setting is beautiful. The facilities are superb and, unlike another reviewer, we experienced no difficulty with the WiFi. The Booking.com price was excellent value but considerably less than the posted tariffs.
Review 83:An "eco" hotel? Well, the toilet used a LOT of water to flush. We were booked for only two nights. We went out the first day and when we returned, we found that they had already changed the sheets and all of the towels were gone, even one we had not used! They were in the laundry. There was no tag for the door to keep the housekeepers from coming in. We could not get wi-fi to work. It was blocks away from the town square. We had a car, luckily. The buildings are very old, with a lot of mold on them. Plus they were renovating on our floor, of which we were not informed. No coffee maker in the room!
Review 84:The room and grounds were beautiful. Very quiet surroundings. The restaurant was very good and at the breakfast buffet, we could order eggs that had no meat in them. We would stay there again.
Review 85:Hotel is well located for town visit to Valladolid and for visits out to Ek Balam and Rio Galartos for the Flamingos. Town was wonderful and they shut one street on Sunday night for local dancing, great to visit. Pool area and restaurant are very good as well, but good restaurants in Main Square only a few blocks away.
Review 86:we stayed in a Jr. Suite & it was clean & comfortable with a king size bed & working whirlpool tub. Staff was responsive, efficient, & knowledgeable. Pool was clean with snack/bar service. Secure off street parking. Larger hotel than expected with well kept grounds.
Review 87:Loved it all! Ek Balam is very special and we had it all to ourselves! I liked it better than Chichen Itza, but I've seen Chichen before.
Review 88:Beautiful huge room with a balcony overlooking a sumptuous tropical garden. The King size bed, bath, sitting area, and overall hotel was personable, friendly, professional, and one of the best values we experienced in our 2 week trip to the Yucatan. We'd definitely stay here again. A wonderful place to stay to see Chichen Itza early in the morning before the cruise ship tourists arrive. And don't miss seeing Ek Balam the afternoon before when you arrive in Valladolid. After taking the ADO bus from Merida, we got a taxi to take us to the hotel and then to both Mayan sites, Ek Balam on they day we arrived, and Chichen in the morning of the second day. The driver waited for us for 3 hours and took us to dinner the first day at a wonderful restaurant on the road back from Ek Balam and to lunch the next day -- only charging us about $1200M, plus a tip and paying for his meals. Very reasonable. Eating the carne ahumada -- smoked pork steaks, sausages, etc. was a real highlight, since it is the famous dish from the small town outside of Valladolid. Also tried the Pok Chuk.at another family restaurant there. All in all a wonderful experience.
Review 89:The property needs to be better maintained, was a terrible smell comingfrom the toilet in the room ( My guess is a septic tank orinfrastructure problem )Actually most of the toilets on the propertydidn,t work well. As well some other details on the property needattention ie the beautiful garden that once were is now an overgrownjungle , the railings around the outdoor bar area are falling apart. Hadto pay cash when checking out because their credit card terminals werenot properly working. ( Spent a month travelling around mexico ,carrying alot of cash wasn,t smart or convenient) The property is also astroll from the beautiful downtown area.
Review 90:The people who work there are the best reason for going there, The guysin the restaurant were always helpful with local tips and the food theyserved always delicious. The food was also very reasonable.
Review 91:Restaurant opened at slightly odd times and wasn't open for breakfast on new year's day- fair enough but would have been nice to have been informed by the hotel prior to this! The other mornings we were alllowed to have a buffet breakfast but the following day weren't allowed to and had to order a la carte, despite there being lots of buffet food left?! Otherwise, great hotel
Review 92:Huge room, very comfy. All the facilities you would want, plus a really large balcony. Hotel was busy but still quiet and relaxing Nice pool area and gardens, inc tennis court.
Review 93:The walk to the main square, but that wasn´t the fault of the hotel. Pavements are very uneven.
Review 94:The Restaurant was very good for evening meal and made us very welcome with margaritas The beds were decorated just as in the pictures. Gardens were very pretty with wonderful tropical plants.
Review 95:There was one person on the reception who was unhelpful it may have been that he didn't speak English however it would have been useful if he had.
Review 96:The location was good. There is a restaurant as part of the premises. The food was good and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 97:We have been told that it was possible to leave the luggages in the room after the check out but when we left they asked us to pay one additional night! Very bad experience. Poor and un-professional staff.
Review 98:Dinning room bathroom was disgusting hadn't been cleaned from the night before which was new year!!
Review 99:Great parking as we had a large van this was important.rooms big and quiet, pool was lovely.breakfast was great.
Review 100:Somehow not as friendly, staff not as obliging as other places where I've stayed in the Yucatan. There was the feeling that staff did not really care.
Review 101:The lovely gardens. Nice big balcony with pleasant outlook. Walking distance from town.
Review 102:Bit past its sell by date. Outside the centre
Review 103:Pleasant enough but has seen better days. It's a bit far out. The man who looks after the garden & takes luggage to rooms was excellent, friendly & hard working. They should try to find a few more like him.
Review 104:Couldn't work out what was Eco about it, besides that bio-dregadable soap in the bathroom. This is a huge hotel for the size of town it's in so feels a bit impersonal if you're there as a couple. I would stay at a smaller place next time. The only other people we saw using the restaurant was when a tour group arrived. Shower didn't work very well, which you don't expect from a "5 star" hotel.
Review 105:Nice gardens Only a 10min walk from centre. Comfy beds
Review 106:The hotel is beautiful and room is sumptuous. But, hot water was notavailable all day...it was plentiful in the morning. Toilet need to befixed. Price was one third more than advertised and breakfast cost morethan advertised
Review 107:Grounds are beautiful and lush. Service in dining room is friendly.Food is good.
Review 108:This hotel was perhaps a 5 stars hotel many years ago. We spent a night in one of the junior suites: the room smell like it was closed for weeks or months, it was not properly clean and the Jacuzzi did not work. Standard rooms may be better or maybe we had simply bad luck, but unfortunately we cannot give a positive rating. To the main square (bars, restaurants) you need about 10 minutes on foot.
Review 109:The pool is ok.
Review 110:no toothbrush; the swimming pool is not deep enough for swimming (only small part is ok), but such pool will be suitable for people who just want to relax in the pool
Review 111:Unfortunately the wifi didn't work in the rooms, the signal was showing but we couldn't connect. We could connect in common areas with no issues. Also there was no hot water in our room. We didn't bother pursuing it with the hotel as it didn't really worry us as it was so hot when we were there. In both cases if we could speak Spanish I'm sure they would have fixed the problem, especially the water as the staff were helpful.
Review 112:The pool was excellent, it had a real resort feel, very relaxing and a nice way to spend the hot afternoons after a morning sightseeing. Great proximity to Chichen Itza and other sights in the region. A little bit away from the centre of town but about 7 min walk and was safe to walk at night. The restaurant served good food which could be eaten by the pool or inside.
Review 113:Nothing.
Review 114:This place is a gem in Valladolid. It's only 5 blocks from the main square, its very beautiful, lush, clean and spacious. It has excellent service. They have a lot of green areas. To eat I highly recommend to go to the milkshake and juice place within a block on that same street, it has rainbow umbrellas. We are in love with Valladolid and from now on we will always try this to stay at this hotel.
Review 115:They charged me an extra 20% over the price you had listed, you shouldshow that on the screen, compared in price with hotels downtown, it´sexpensive!
Review 116:It´s private, nice neighborhood, but far from downtown, the street isdark at night.
Review 117:Restaurant was poor. SErvice was ok but slow. I didn't like the waythey charged us on arrival, rather than on departure.
Review 118:The hotel was beautiful, tastefully decorated and the colonial mexicanstyle was wonderful. The pool area was very relaxing, well designed andwe took lots of photos of the hotel as the setting was so beautiful.Room was very clean and comfortable.
Review 119:The wifi is complicated to use. There are different access pointsthroughout the hotel with different passwords. The front desk didn'thave written instructions for this and the man at reception had a hardtime explaining. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay here very much.
Review 120:This was our favorite hotel of our 2-week trip. Had we known, we wouldhave booked longer and spent more time exploring Valladolid, which is agreat city (and skipped Chichen Itza.) The hotel is a few blocks fromthe city center, but an easy walk to the quaint central square or theamazing cenote that is not to be missed. The hotel is lovely for theprice, clean with great facilities and lots of charm.
Review 121:Bear in mind most people compare Mexican hotels to American hotels which works okay in major tourist city's like cancun , acapulco and Mexico City . However Valladolid is a small city of 60,000 with few hotels . Overall accommodations were great and the experience of this small Spanish colonial city is worth a stay . The Mayan people are an honest ,respectful people .
Review 122:Friendly staff ,decent breakfast ,short walk to plaza .
Review 123:The rooftop hot tub was not working. Seems like when an attraction offered is not working then the hotel should offer free breakfast or something else to compensate.
Review 124:The hotel was nice, reasonably priced for the services provided. It is located on the beach and malecon on the north end.
Review 125:Decor tired, rooms and bathroom could do with a good scrub and fresh coat of paint. Room musty. Not worth paying extra money for suite. Pool was not very clean. Just a bit far from main square.
Review 126:Price was good, staff were very helpful.
Review 127:Breakfast needs improvement from the staff to the selection. We chose not to take breakfast on the second morning. The new showers in the rooms are lovely but dangerously slippy even with a rubber mat.
Review 128:A little gem hidden away from the bustling streets.A lovely little pool in tranquil gardens. Mayan themed rooms with compfy beds.
Review 129:The beds were very hard to sleep on, The room was right in front of the car park and noisy buses.
Review 130:The hotel had good character, convenient location good restaurant
Review 131:Noisy, function room next to our bedroom with party until 2am. Nowarning or compensation. No towels left in room. Average to poor food.Uncomfortable pillows. Room advertised with a jacuzzi which didn't work.
Review 132:Good location, spacious. Friendly staff in general.
Review 133:Nothing!!
Review 134:Everything!!
