Reviews for Casa Quetzal Boutique Hotel

Review 1:It is beautiful Casa, with a lovely patio, vegetation and a small pool located in an excellent part of this small city of Valladolid. You feel as if you were at your family's home. Is in a part of town, only few blocks from the main plaza. The Casa give you a tranquil place to return to after a full day of activity. Very peaceful but near much. We walked everywhere day or night. We had the church next door. The room was inviting and clean. Service was very good. Breakfast at the patio was a sweet way to wrap up our visit. Valladolid is a must stop city in Yucatan and our Hotel was an excellent choice.

Review 2:Nice area to be based, but it's quite a walk into town.

Review 3:The best place we stayed at in Mexico by far. Spacious, clean rooms opening onto a very nice courtyard.

Review 4:Only problem was they were cleaning the small swimming pool so it had no water. It was very hot so could have done with a dip. Reception staff were fine but didn't offer any help on where to go or eat in Valladolid.

Review 5:Great room with traditional furnishings including huge hammock around a lovely central tropical garden. Very relaxing and friendly feel. They made us a nice breakfast with lovely hot chocolate for the children. Was one of our favourite hotels of the trip.

Review 6:Wonderful breakfast in a wonderful and peaceful garden. The room was big and clean. The location was perfect to visit the city and the hotel has parking place for the guests. The staf very kind

Review 7:Is close to a medium busy street and the rooms of that side are expose completely to noise. Difficult to sleep if you are in those rooms. The Breakfast sucks, no restaurant (the description mention that they have restaurant, but is not true). At night nobody is in the reception, practically once you receive your key they explain you for what is each key and you are on your own.(-_-). Personally is over rated. The person of the front desk was nice and kind. In the "breakfast time" they like to talk enough to not put attention to the guest. Talking with my wife, we where surprise of the lack of service, no because they are not kind, mainly because was not service to qualify. Also the water heater did not work. When we arrive at night a lady mention that issue to the person in charge of the reception. I was very tired, so we did not take a shower that night. Then in the morning was my turn to use the shower in the room, and surprise!, same situation, no hot water, and the regular water cold. I had to do it cold, we where in a hurry to go to the church and well. That was the last experience in the Hotel. We pack and leave. Not recommended at all. Is Ok for sleep and go, but not for that price. 90 dlls apx. per night.

Review 8:The decorations are nice, the shampoo smell good.

Review 9:The humidity contributed to damp-smells in the room and to mosquitoes.---Maybe some fish in the ponds to eat the mosquito larvae?

Review 10:I enjoyed the gardens and many pleasant places for sitting to enjoy them. The artwork and décor were attractive and unique. The breakfast was personal, elegant and healthy. Very satisfying. It was great to sit outdoors amidst the gardens, at a white-cloth covered table and be waited upon.

Review 11:Even that the breakfast its good, it would be nice to have different options than fruit and bread, like eggs, pancakes or so ;)

Review 12:The interior garden is amazing and the rooms pretty big and confortable. The personal is very very kind and friendly they makes you feel at home. The location is perfect for walking through the magic town and do sightseing of the colonial houses and there is also a cenote downtown! We loved Valladolid and this hotel.

Review 13:Lovely rooms with very comfy beds and a hammock, set around a courtyard full of trees. Very friendly staff. Good breakfast of fruit yoghurt granola and a bread basket with butter and jam. We didn't mind the 10-15 minute walk into the centre but this might put some people off.

Review 14:Parked on street as there was a workman in the yard.

Review 15:Very comfortable hotel, tasty continental breakfast, lovely decorations in the room. Staff were a bit shy but very helpful when we needed them. Great value!

Review 16:There's nothing bad to say about the hotel. Sometimes it feels like Mexico is only eight miles from the sun. So, if you haven't been "hace mucho calor."

Review 17:Unassuming from the outside but you'll be very pleased with beautiful grounds. A pleasant, friendly staff will make sure you have a nice visit. The beds were among the best I've slept in and I travel a lot. Very nice breakfast but, too much! Lots of (beautiful) closet space so you can unpack and not have to dig through your luggage. I liked everything about Casa Quetzal.

Review 18:Casa Quetzal was perfect. A beautiful little hotel, it has a lush courtyard and nice rooms. Wifi worked great which I was surprised and delighted by. And the staff were very helpful.

Review 19:Pool was not cleaned while we were there (leaves) No wifi in our room

Review 20:Good breakfast Short walk to nice restaurants Secure private parking Our bungalow was very big

Review 21:There was a lot of construction going on in the area and during the day it was noisy! A temporary situation

Review 22:I loved the garden area a friendly staff. The secured parking was a nice bonus. And breakfast was great- exceptional coffee

Review 23:Nothing much

Review 24:The bathroom and hammock was nice in the room. The room was a good size with a king size bed. The breakfast was good and over appearance of hotel was clean. Also, placed in a quiet area and walking distance from city center

Review 25:There is nothing special in this hotel thus it seems overpriced. Simple countryside design with a bit dirty pool

Review 26:+ the room had hammock + wifi + we could choose a room from 2 options

Review 27:- the nungalow is too close to the local houses so in the morning it can be too loud - the pool is in the shade almost all day and many leafs at the poll

Review 28:- comfort - the bungalow itself is unique - breakfest

Review 29:the casa was Ina good location, with two very good restaurants in the neighborhood. the staff were helpful with a car rental issue . the lush foliage and beautiful rooms were well kept.

Review 30:Nothing to dislike - very minor point was small step into bathroom but after tripping twice got used to it!

Review 31:We had the garden room which was delightful in the lush gardens,we were able to open the gates and park our car outside, it has a fabulous big bedroom and separate lounging kitchen area so we loved spending a few hours reading in the hammock as dusk turned into night. We only stayed one night and wished for longer - the pool was lovely, breakfast fresh and delicious - happy to recommend.

Review 32:If it's a 'boutique hotel' I think it would be good to be able to get a drink.....of anything, on arrival and during your stay.

Review 33:Attractive local art and craft used to decorate the room.

Review 34:poor wifi signal; I forgot cards ( nothing important just insurance cards, my public transportation cards...) and some camera materials ( lenses and a flash) in the safe they found the camera but claimed they never found the cards which i doubt seriously.

Review 35:nice and spacious room, the beautiful inner courtyard with a nice swimming pool, the breakfast serve in the courtyard

Review 36:the only drawback was that the water pressure could be better in the bathroom

Review 37:the staff, the size of the rooms , the breakfast, only seven rooms makes for a great difference from the "Cancun, Playa del Carmen" scene

Review 38:Our first night on a multi-stop holiday in Mexico was spent here and it was a lovely start to our trip. We arrived in the evening and the garden was magical. The room was excellent and the aircon worked well. Bathroom was good, though the hot water seemed to run after a while. The wifi worked. We did not have the breakfast so cannot comment on that.

Review 39:None

Review 40:Stylish rustic bedroom, the bedroom is very romantic spacious and comfortable. The living room was open (including a mosquito net, very useful!) it views to a nice private garden very relaxed with a hanmock to enjoy. In general it was a fantastic place with great attention, highly recommended.

Review 41:Room wasn't properly cleaned when we arrived. There were many small gecko droppings. Applies to bungalow only, their normal rooms apparently don't have this problem: Mosquitos everywhere Design of mosquito net is very tight on the bed so it's very hard not to rub against it/get bitten through it Can't go to the bathroom in the night without getting bitten

Review 42:Beautiful Bungalow Hammock Kitchen area Private Parking

Review 43:Staff were practically invisible, only to be seen during daylight hours to check people in and out. At night the doors are locked. The hotel is a 15 minute walk from the city center, but the advantages of this are dubious. Lousy shower. Value for money was poor.

Review 44:Rooms were clean. Just outside the busy city center. The nearby park is pleasant, and there's a couple breakfast and dinner options in the area.

Review 45:No negative comments.

Review 46:Beautiful atmosphere in enclosed garden with pool. Just across the road from San Bernadino Convent, which gives an added sense of calm and history.

Review 47:Liked it all, lovely boutique hotel, freindly and patient staff, beautiful courtyard garden surrounded by hacienda style hotel. Ideal location for town shops, bars, etc., just a 10 minute walk awayBreakfast was marvellous and of a great range of foods. This hotel is a real treat to stay at.

Review 48:We had booked two rooms. Our room was fine but the other room my family stayed in didn't have hot water for some reason and it was close to the street so it was a bit noisy.

Review 49:The hotel is very cute. Great location, right next to the Convento de San Bernardino de Siena. Within walking distance to the main square thru the beautiful Calzada de los Frailes.

Review 50:About a mile off the main town square in Valladolid. A little too far off if you do not have a car. Bungalow has no AC.

Review 51:The staff here was so friendly and helpful to us. We originally booked the bungalow, but upon arriving realized it had no AC. They were very accommodating to us and moved us to another room with AC. The rooms are beautiful and quite comfortable. A very nice getaway.

Review 52:Our room faced the road and was noisy at times.

Review 53:Well-managed hotel

Review 54:breakfast was all time same

Review 55:garden, mexican style room, hamock in room

Review 56:Setting, big pretty room, friendly staff, decent breakfast

Review 57:A nice room with a comfortable bed set in a beautiful courtyard and a great breakfast!

Review 58:The hotel has an amazing indoor patio where you can eat and relax

Review 59:Loved this place! Perfect location, the host and staff were wonderful, and the space was charming. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Review 60:People in the hotel is so friendly, the room was very comfortable, clean, big, the pillows smell awsome

Review 61:a bit far from central square, hence isolated very noisy A/C

Review 62:nice hotel, clean room, friendly staff

Review 63:Beautiful interior garden, colonial style large house

Review 64:Wonderful little hotel, like an oasis in town

Review 65:The location and the gardens

Review 66:Noise

Review 67:The green garden with pool, the nice room and the good breakfast.

Review 68:Lovely property and friendly staff.

Review 69:The noisy street up to late hours at night.

Review 70:The friendliness of the staff.

Review 71:Nada

Review 72:Great location with good restraints and Cafe nearby and a very pleasant walk to the main square.

Review 73:The mosquito net provided was definitely required

Review 74:cabin very romantic

Review 75:There was no staff after 9pm and NO HOT WATER with no one there to assist. It was a rough night.

Review 76:The decor was cute and cozy

Review 77:Fantastic location and loved the courtyard / garden. Great breakfast and staff were very helpfull.

Review 78:Because of the gorgeous garden setting there are lots of Mosquitos all the time. Day and night. Bring lots of repellant

Review 79:The rooms are really big and absolutely stunning. The tv has lots of channels. It's a quick walk into town and there are lots of local amenities. The corner shop, a crepe place, a kids playground, nice restaurants, bus station all within ten minutes. They let me use the kitchen to cook and there is a good fridge in the bedroom. The beds were very comfy and the pool was much enjoyed!

Review 80:The swimmingpool did not look very clean, so we didn't have a swim.

Review 81:The staff is very friendly and helpsome. The room is clean. The beds are good. The garden is beautiful. They have a parkinglot next to the hotel.

Review 82:Nothing to dislike

Review 83:The decor of the room and public spaces, the lovely breakfast, the garden, the private parking . The overall calm and peaceful ambience.

Review 84:Nothing to do with the hotel, but I had difficulty finding vegetarian food in the town - did a lot of walking to find somewhere and often decided that some fruit and nuts was a better option!

Review 85:The breakfasts by the pool. The lovely courtyard with trees. Lovely large bedrooms, with a hammock in them. Not too far from the town - nice walk found some lovely shops between the hotel and the centre.

Review 86:nothing

Review 87:staff - invariably cheerful, helpful and efficient location - could not be better - quiet , next to the convent and just a short (and interesting) walk into town cleanliness - exemplary setting - rooms around beautiful courtyard gardens - cool, green and tranquil

Review 88:there was nothing to not like!

Review 89:location, staff and general ambience were particularly excellent . Breakfast was also a delight - delicious, full and beautifully served.

Review 90:Dark and smelly of mold and humidity. very noisy from raodside and from people carelessly closing doors (hacienda style with courtyard, so you hear everything. The pool is totally unuseable. Way too much vegetation in courtyard that keeps a lot of humidty in the building. Unecessary. The owner (lady) was not that pleasant.

Review 91:Not much

Review 92:Little difficult to find is you dont have Google maps working.

Review 93:Everything, even I had a private parking. Very special place like living in jungle, and room was well assorted.

Review 94:The shower was iffy--- just ok. The pool was nice to look at, but not overly clean and certainly not one to swim in. My wife disagrees and would have gone swimming if we had had time.

Review 95:A beautiful setting, charming room, quiet. Location very good, attentive staff and friendly. Very peaceful. Breakfast in the garden was very nice.

Review 96:Beautiful hotel! A bit tricky to find thanks to our slightly off GPS, but it's located in an excellent, quieter neighborhood in Valladolid (which already bills itself as the quietest and cleanest city around, for what it's worth). It was a pleasure staying here, and I'd happily go back.

Review 97:Good location. Quiet but only a 10 minute pleasant walk to the center of town. Lovely gardens with lots of benches, chairs, pottery. Easy to park. Pleasant staff and excellent breakfast of fresh fruit, yoghurt, granola, fresh rolls and croissants, eggs cooked to order, freshly brewed coffee served in their lush tropical garden. Would stay there again.

Review 98:The airconditioner sounded like a Harley Davidson.

Review 99:The staff were helpful and very pleasant. The hotel is is very comfortable with a small pool and a garden with comfortable seating around the courtyard.

Review 100:Great location and the place itself is really beautiful. Nice breakfast in the morning too. Valladolid is well worth travelling to from the coastline as well.

Review 101:I didn't mind, but the swimming pool is certainly only for looks... not set up for swimming while we were there.

Review 102:Beautiful hotel. A little oasis in the middle of town.

Review 103:the staff is so attentive and welcoming, the breakfast is yummy, the facilities make you feel like you are in the jungle!, always clean and the toiletries are organic!

Review 104:Quaint B&B in Valladolid, mx. 30 min. Drive to Chitzen Itza.Difficult to find as navigating in this city is difficult as aforeigner, but just look for the convent and it's right next toit. Very 'homey'; I would recommend and stay there again toexplore the area.

Review 105:Dogs barking at night and early morning wake-up calls from the next door neighbours cockerel.

Review 106:It turned out to be a great place to stay. The staff were particularly friendly and very helpful. My room was kept very clean and the breakfasts kept me going all day.

Review 107:The location a bit far from the central plaza, fortunately we had a rented car. The village itself is not great, a part the zocalo and the food!

Review 108:It was amazing! Lovable staff, clean, nice bathroom, fan in the room, a superb patio with plants, birds, a swimming pool! Excellent.

Review 109:Nothing to complain about, wifi would have been nice though.

Review 110:Great and excellent value for money. Extremely fresh and nice hotel. I was expecting more a "hostel"-feeling but it was really good. And the breakfast was also good, were you could choose from a menu what you wanted (other than fruit , youghurt, croissant, coffee etc.) Good location in nice are that were easy too walk around.

Review 111:There were too many Mosquitos in our room at night. The beds were too hard, a pillow top mattress would be nice.

Review 112:Breakfast was excellent. Great staff! Nice large room and bathroom.

Review 113:Trivial point since we did not have time to swim, but the pool needs some maintenance.

Review 114:Wonderful atmosphere and ambiance; very pleasant staff; great location

Review 115:Quiet, clean, rustic and well designed at the same time with a nice garden/ pool and a highly recommended breakfast. About 15-20 minutes walk to the Zocalo, could be a bit closer to the center. Wifi worked well and the stuff (mostly spanish) was nice and helpful. Good place to start excursions to the areas around, for example the Cenotes Dzitnup, Samula (10min by car) or Zaci (20min walk). Is good for a stop on the way between Cancun and Chichen Itza/ Merida. Private parking area next to the hotel, not extra charged and closed/ save for the night.

Review 116:Valladolid is a quite noisy city, especially on weekdays in the morningand night. Casa Quetzal therefor was a welcome silent place to stay.

Review 117:Casa Quetzal is a small but cozy green oasis in Valladolid centre, justbesides the San Bernardino convent and only a step away from thehistorical heart. La Casita or Cabaña is a charming little bungalow inMayan style, with a veranda in a private garden. Breakfast at CasaQuetzal was typical (eggs, beans, tortillas, ...) and great to start theday with. Including juice, fresh fuit salad and joghurt !

Review 118:Breakfast not included and expensive so I suggest taking your breakfast at a place near town square No safe in the room and had to leave valuable art front desk where they are locked in a flimsy drawer. Lights in shower not working

Review 119:Very nice courtyard Rooms very comfortable and good beds and mattresses

Review 120:Location is too far from centre of town Outside sitting area is very dark because of foliage. Needs to be cut back a bit. Poor wifi connectivity

Review 121:very clean large room with sitting area

Review 122:the junior suite was very well appointed and comfortable. Breakfast was very good and relaxing by the pool. There is a short wall to the shops and Plaza. The staff was very helpful and attentive.

Review 123:im sorry Casa Quetzal but i was disappointed all round. I think this hotel has once been beautiful. But im afraid our room was not clean, had a damp smell/mould in the bathroom. You could still make this a wonderful place but it needs a serious clean and a new bathroom. The breakfast was not great either.

Review 124:The authentic Mexican Haceinda vibe.

Review 125:The noisy Québécois family next door.

Review 126:The staff spoke excellent English. It was very peaceful, and a greatlocation near to, but away from the Centro.
