Reviews for Miyajima Morinoyado

Review 1:A little far from jetty. Need quite a bit of walking to reach which may be difficult with baggage. Would be ideal if they provided transport.

Review 2:Hot spring bath and serene environment.

Review 3:Not much English is spoken but we got by. Value for money is lacking, but I suppose you are paying a premium because there's not much accommodation on the island. Staff weren't as friendly and helpful as we experienced at other hotels.

Review 4:It was really nice staying overnight on the island, and waking up early to explore the temples before the crowds arrived. This accommodation was comfortable enough.

Review 5:Coffee is self-service in the lobby but not available until 7am? I am an early riser and like coffee first thing. Would be nice if it was gratis.

Review 6:Great location a short distance from all the commotion. The room was spacious and had a nice view. Meals were delicious. Staff service was impecable as in most of my other experiences in Japanese hospitality.

Review 7:The hotel is far from the pier (20 min walk at least) but do not provide any transfer service, which is unconvenient when you travel in Japan with 3 kids ... In the room, you have to install the futons yourself. And those futons, compared to other Japanese hotels we have experienced are very thin ...

Review 8:The hotel is located in a very quiet place.

Review 9:The location next to the aquarium is a bit noisy whenever they do the sea lion attraction and it's a bit far from the shopping street. The interior wasn't a terrible shape either, with some dirty panels with some holes in them.

Review 10:The ryokan-type hotel but with an English-speaking staff, a little shop, and affordable prices.

Review 11:The location is very scenic, but one should get there by car or by a taxi, it's 20 minutes walk from the ferry. *if you are navigating by google maps, use Aquarium as a reference point.

Review 12:The room is spacious, onsen on site, quiet, deers are walking around, breakfast is made especially for you.

Review 13:Its very far from the ferry, if u arriving after 7 pm theres no taxi or pick up service avaliable so we needed to walk with a luggage quite ling tine in the dark.

Review 14:Nice onsen! Nice area, very qyiet place.

Review 15:I did not realise that 'shared bathroom' meant that the onsen was the only bathroom facility. Fortunately it was not "mixed bathing". No wifi.

Review 16:Beautiful surroundings. Room was lovely.

Review 17:This is pretty much the farthest ryokan from the ferry stop so a pick-up service like other places provide would be more than handy.

Review 18:The onsen was nice and relatively quiet later in the evening. Our room faced a forested hillside, which provided a great sense of being away from the hustle and bustle of life in busy Japan.

Review 19:We stayed in a Japanese style room (by choice), however having stayed in many such rooms/hotels this was the first one where we had to make our own beds up.

Review 20:Clean hotel, great location. Staff seemed quite impersonal.

Review 21:The room was beautiful and comfortable. The communal bathing facilities were excellent, with a view of a garden. The staff was unfailingly helpful and friendly.

Review 22:The distance from the ferry was considerably further than realized - and no transportation! I would really recommend a hotel van...

Review 23:Beautiful rooms, fabulous food, great service!

Review 24:Curfew at 23 (Not really negative as there is not a lot to do, but it is something I would expect from another kind of place)

Review 25:Great onsen Huge room with private bathroom and bath Provided yukata for each person.

Review 26:We booked a japanese room and were very disappointed in the hotel. There were holes in the sliding screens that had not been repaired. There was no Yukata (robe) for the japanese bath in the room. We had to ask for them at the front desk. You had to make your own bedding up each night and pack it up yourself each morning. No bottle of water in the room and the room was not cleaned daily. We had stayed at a few ryokans before arriving at myajima and this one was very disappointing in comparison especially for the price paid and the location. We cut our stay short at myajima because of this hotel.

Review 27:Because the property was a little away from the main drag it was very quiet.

Review 28:Nothing open for dinner in town and the hotel restaurant has to be booked well in advance, so we survived on instant noodles the first night. But no big deal !

Review 29:Nice and quiet, excellent Japanese bathing facilities, large rooms and great food.

Review 30:Could not get dinner at the restaurant because we hadn't made a reservation, and it wasn't booked out. Was the same at most hotels on the islands!

Review 31:Very comfortable, well appointed ryokan style accomodation, beautiful onsen, very friendly staff and traditional Japanese breakfast

Review 32:Yes, it's Miyajima so I would understand if it's more expensive than the nearby Hiroshima, but this was our most expensive night and one of the least enjoyable ones. Supper is very expensive at 5000 yen per person, and you don't really have much of a choice, because it's far to walk to town and almost everything closes down at night. The room was a bit dusty and the futons were uncomfortable compared to those we slept on at other places.

Review 33:The onsen facilities were nice, and had long opening hours (including mornings). Even though it is a long distance from the ferry port and main town, this accommodation is very close to one of the routes up Mount Misen, so that's a plus if you're into hiking.

Review 34:As a single traveller I was a little disappointed that I couldn't purchase a glass of wine to take to my room..(.a bottle would have been too much.) that hasn't put me off returning maybe?

Review 35:Pleasant surroundings, lovely room, spotlessly clean, comfortable and tasteful. Near to the woods for walking! I enjoyed the tatami experience!

Review 36:The public bath was average, actually I think they put too much chlorine in it, thus quite pricey considering what you get, but it is the island overnight I guess in a ryokan-meets-hotel style ..

Review 37:Sweet staff like most in Japan, at breakfast (tasty clams cooking! but also rice and miso soup, egg etc.) we had deer to watch outside the window, very nice Japanese room and Miyajima in itself is so beautiful after all the noisy crowds left on the ferry :)

Review 38:We made the mistake of walking from the ferry terminal to the hotel with our (medium-large) suitcases, especially as most paths have cobbles and gravel. It's further than you perhaps realise.

Review 39:The (western-style) room was huge, and being up on the top level gave it a bit of a view and extra peace. The service was great, even with their very limited English. We didn't try the onsen but lots of happy folks were coming out.

Review 40:Heating was only possible by air conditioning system, which made the air very dry and not comfortable for sleep.

Review 41:Wonderful view from our room, quiet and spacious room, Nice staff

Review 42:No wifi was the only draw back

Review 43:Traditional room was very comfortable and huge for Japanese standards. Public bath downstairs was very nice. Staff were very helpful.

Review 44:This hotel is beautiful and felt like a real break away from the real world. The style is very traditional Japanese. It is very comfortable. There is no wifi, so you can completely break away.

Review 45:Nothing- it was wonderful.

Review 46:Staff were kind and helpful, location was lovely, and it was a fun cultural experience. We had the Japanese breakfast and it was different for us, but a big, beautiful spread of food. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Review 47:The island is small so you can't really be in a bad location but still this is one of the furthest places from the ferry terminal, only 10 mins though so not bad really.Breakfast was very Japanese so unless you're adventurous with food not really worth it. Although we did get a bit of a laugh when it came out and we tried to figure out what it all was. Fish, tofu, a few veggie things and quite a bit of unrecognisable stuff. I love food and will try anything but it has to taste good, I'm afraid this didn't.

Review 48:First experience of a ryokan and I'm glad we tried it but wasn't quite what we expected! Maybe would have been different if we had gotten the meal in our room but very little interaction with staff and we had to make the beds up ourselves. Comfy once all set up but just thought it would be a bit more special... a nice experience all the same.Nice bath area which saved us after a big hike up the fabulous mountain, which was worth the effort and the highlight of the trip. Island is so peaceful and beautiful.

Review 49:The staff spoke poor english, just Japanese breakfast, no recommendations of the nearby restaurants, the walls and sheets had stained.

Review 50:the room view

Review 51:All aspects of the hotel and its surrounding were excellent. The hotel was connected to the port by the community bus which stopped just outside.

Review 52:the price compare to the quality, i guess we pay more for the location ...

Review 53:the location

Review 54:Check in at 4 was rigidly enforced, although you could drop your bags

Review 55:Full Japanese experience. Food.

Review 56:When first checked-in, staff seemed less friendly to foreigners than to locals. But after a few conversations, that became okay.

Review 57:Uncomfortable pillows, no wifi

Review 58:Nothing

Review 59:Excellent ryokan in the Miyajima island. The room was quite big and clean. The staff was really nice and kind.

Review 60:no wifi on the hotel

Review 61:we enjoyed the Japanese style room and the spa rooms which were open until late. dinner and breakfast were good too.

Review 62:Traditional Japanese breakfast isn't to our pallets and there were no other options

Review 63:We liked the authentic Japanese feel of the room

Review 64:a little run down and ready for renovation

Review 65:The staff was friendly

Review 66:Late check in time (4pm), early check out time (10am).

Review 67:Beautiful location and view, large room

Review 68:Walk from ferry over 20 minutes, they don't have shuttle car to ferry.

Review 69:Staff very friendly, the room clean and comfort.

Review 70:Quiet location

Review 71:Ryokan style.

Review 72:Great breakfast! Nice Japanese style room! Staff was very nice, but didn't speak English

Review 73:Staff seemed a bit pretentious.

Review 74:Comfortable place to stay.

Review 75:No wifi? Really? Come on.

Review 76:dinner fixed price menu was beyond our budget

Review 77:the hot bath lovely, large room view

Review 78:Room size and position
