Review 1：Room which was provided was not what was asked, ended up being placed in a room which should have been cheaper than the original price.

Review 3：There's no other way of saying this, this was the worst room I ever stayed in. It was basically a large broom closet, with one very small window that stood at head level from inside the room, but was street floor level to the outside. In other words, a basement broom closet. Furniture was completely derelict, as was everything in the room and bathroom. Breakfast was very, very subpar. Whole building needs serious works. It's the first time I've ever written this on a review, but i must advise against staying here and suggest looking for a different hotel nearby. There's plenty of offer.

Review 4：The location is fantastic, it's on the sea front, on the largest and most important street. Downtown where you can walk everywhere, with restaurants and bars across the street. Busy but not noisy. It's smack in the middle of the towns historical center. Hotel staff was friendly and the cleaning team was very efficient. The staff was the only reason we didn't leave the hotel upon looking at our broom closet.

Review 5：Beautiful view over the harbour from room. So much so that we got food from local supermarket and ate in the room rather than going out for a meal! Room very big.Under hotel the supermarket serves cooked food for take away.

Review 6：Beds a bit uncomfortable. Kitchenette equipment disappointing, no kettle or proper oven or big pot ( a small one was provided on request). We had ants in the flat,in the kitchen and bathroom; on some days it was a proper invasion - we were told this was our fault for having food and a sweet smelling wash bag (!) Wifi very variable.

Review 7：Great location and view, nice flat with good air conditioning, friendly English speaking staff. TVs in all main rooms was handy with older children, although reception not so good. Supermarket, restaurants and car hire next door, and really near harbour.

Review 12：We had the apartment with living room facing the ocean, sleeping was very quiet. Fantastic staff! On our request they changed the beds. Then, the wired internet was not working in our room, and they made a personal WiFi for us! By the way, both WiFi, in the room and at the reception worked very good. Location cannot be better- I would rate this hotel as a five-star.

Review 13：A bit dated and room overlooked building work next door in gloomy courtyard. Hair-dryer broken and had to be taped to wall.

Review 23：We had not been told that the hotel was under construction. It was noisy and dirty. When we arrived we were told that our apartment was "finished". There were loose wires projecting from the walls, unfinished drywall In both living and bedroom. HVAC systems were not working. There was no balcony furniture. When they found some, it was old and tired. The apartment had basic furnishings but no rugs or wall decorations made it cold and uncomfortable. The kitchen equipment was incomplete and of poor quality. Contrary to advertising, there was no in-room Wifi. Breakfast was adeqate. When we looked for another alternative we realized that we were being overcharged for a low season visit ( one of the hazards of booking well in advance.)We stayed the first night, but moved to another much better - and less expensive - location the next morning. Things may improve once the renovations are completed, but the workmanship was not inspiring and we were not impressed with the professionalism or dedication of management.

Review 24：The features that drew us to this hotel were the space and self-catering facilities overlooking the harbour . It has a very nice close up view of the marina, but it overlooks a wide and busy street. I suspect that it may become quite noisy in high season.

Review 27：The hotel is not new, but our room was clean and large. Breakfast is not very Interesting, but enough to fill you up. But if you have it the second time you understand that the hall is too dark for good island's morning. Staff is helpful and friendly. The hotel is located on a main street near a moorage. Normal place but nothing specific.

Review 28：Their staff is absolutely amazing. They are always ready and willing to accommodate our every need (one year we had a burnt light which they fixed within minutes; another time they were willing to have us change rooms to accommodate our needs). As we travelled as a family of 3, they went above and beyond our expectations for our arrival, as they created a beautiful room in this nook by the balcony for my daughter. That in itself made for a great stay! The views are impeccable, couldn't ask for better! This location is perfect as well. You are right in the heart of the city! The cleaning staff has been wonderful during our many stays. Not only do they take care of typical cleaning services, but they always do so with care for our belongings and always with a smile. It was a treat for us to incorporate traditional Portuguese delicacies for breakfast. This will always be our hotel of choice. And we strongly recommend it!

Review 29：The one bedroom apartment I stayed in was large and clean but very shabby. The kitchen missed essential items such as kettle and soap for the dishes.

Review 32：I am sad that the hotel is starting to run down. The a/c was not working so there were 2 portable a/c's which were not very effective. It was extremely hot during our stay and we were not comfortable in the room until later evening. The remotes for the tv's did not work - advised front desk and nothing happened. Also advised the front desk that the sliding door to the balcony did not have a lock on it - were told it did - not - couldn't close or lock the door overnight or bedroom window as the hoses for the portable a/c's needed to be put outside.

Review 33：The size of the apartment was great. It was kept clean. The front desk staff is polite and try to be helpful.

Review 34：Bang doors between 4am and about 9am. The breakfast was very minimal and barely adequate and the "hot"entree was usually cold. Forget the "wired" internet in the room it just did not work. We are a mature couple who travel quite a bit but in all our life we have never slept on harder beds.

Review 40：There always seemed to be an unpleasant smell whenever I came into the apartment. Perhaps coming from the air conditioning as it was a bit like water that had been standing for a while and had become stagnant.

Review 42：1. Balcony was small and had to carry chairs out from room. 2. Musty smell probably from old furniture. 3. Furniture-advertised as "elegant" but far from that! Same as in pics but pics must have been taken years ago when the furniture was new. Mattress somewhat hard. 4. No English TV channels available in room. 5. No WI-FI in rooms for phone. 6. No regular air-conditioning in room and their make shift "portable" was noisy and door to balcony had to be left open to vent it and that also let in street noise. They acted as if surprised that there was no air conditioning in the room which was hard to believe.

Review 43：1. It was nice to have more space than just a room. Small kitchenette but more than adequate for our use. 2. The location was great-next to "supermarket" and near restaurants and within walking distance of "sights" within the city. 3. Marina view 4. The balcony 5. Review 44：Friendly environment. Internet is only available downstairs (unless you have a laptop) having it downstairs was great and created an environment where you talked to other guests. Made some great friends during my 2 1/2 week stay.

Review 91：On the negative site, the beds (matrasses) are too old, pitty. Although they tried to fix things and give us an extra matras on top, still not really what one expects from a 4, even a 3 star hotel, Other furniture may be perhaps outdated, but I think it is not important. They should carry some repair work though. The coffee in the morning wasn't good, I just asked for a regular one at the bar (and pay for it). But I am very demanding about this particular point.

Review 92：Almost everything in this hotel was excellent: employes were very friendly and try to search for solutions to the problems we confronted them with. The location of the hotel is very, very, good: you will find everything within 2 or 3 minutes walk: bank, laundry service, grocerys, shops, restaurants, literally everything one may need on holiday; and the marine across the street, with all it has to offer; the parking arrangement they offer is laso very convenient.

They had some confusing info about pick up at airport. took one and a half hours to get to hotel. should have been 10mins, when it was time for the bill man said that I needed to pay 10€ per person both ways added up to 40€ I was very suprised. As i had email stating 10€ for pick up no mention of how many people. After the nice guy heard my displessure. he asked me if I could wait for five minute for the manager to call back. He did call and told the man to not charge us for the airport runs. Then to my supprise the manager himself picked us up and took us to the airport at no charge. Thank you very much BRUNO, Oya in was'nt Mr Thomas. LOL!

Review 96：Our party had two apartments. For the cost, the apartments were outstanding and far exceeded our expectations. The location and the waterfront views were spectacular.

Review 97：The only weak point is a breakfast...the poorest I have ever seen in my life. It is better to eat something outside.

The rent a car office is next door on the right, on the left is a nice supermarket with local products and best shop with souvenirs and five small restaurants. Good turist guides are for free in rent a car office. Rooms with views are worth the price. They are spacious, bath a little bit old but clean.

Review 99：Cockroaches. Old furniture. View from the room for the back of the hotel - awful. Breakfast was barely ok. This is not a 4 star hotel. And again: cockroaches - unacceptable!

Review 101：In our round trip to Azores we stayed there twice in different sea view apartments. Both were comfortable and very spacious. It is also nbice to just sit on the balcony and watch the marina and busy street.

And, finally, the location and the building itself did notseem to be very safe in a case of a serious earthquake or tsunami, whichcould happen in Azores... I may mistake here.

Review 105：In April, 2013 there was a system of discounts, so we were able to booka double room in this hotel for 5 nights for 287euros (less than 60euros per night). The hotel is located at the seaside, in the verycenter of Ponto Delgado (10 min trip to airport- less than 10 euros,almost all places of interests inside the city, supermarket, car rentoffice etc. were in a foot distance from there). Staff was polite,breakfasts were excelent. The hotel was quite clean and well-designed.There was a lot of facilities to travel around the island. However, thebest solution was to rent a car.

Review 106：This is our hotel of choice in Ponta Delgada. The staff are usually friendly and helpful. The rooms are large and good value. Although the decor is outdated, the hotel is clean and comfortable. It's great to have free wired internet. Oh and the breakfast is good.

Review 108：We stayed at Hotel Apartamentos Gaivota for two days in November . Wehad asked for a nice room with sea view in advance and they gave us alarge suite on the upper floor. The apartment was very clean andcomfortably furnished with a huge bathroom and balcony with a great viewoverlooking the whole harbour. The hotel is situated at the harbourpromenade, near to harbour restaurants and to the city As the weatherhad been miserable we were lucky to have a nice room where it was apleasure to stay in. The staff was friendly and helpful ( they reacteddirectly to a small complaint ) and made us feel welcome. Breakfast roomwas in the lobby with a good choice of everything. We would definitivelystay here again.

Review 114：We ordered a double room, but got a twin room. Their answer is that they consider it the same and were fully booked, so couldn't change. The hotel is not bad, but certainly not a 4-star hotel.

Review 115：when we first checked in we had been given a pretty awfully located room in the back of the hotel - you look out at back of buildings that are all falling apart. The hallway to the room was very dark as well and the room lighting wasn't very good. We were able to switch to another room that was higher up and still in the back, but did not look out at the decrepit buildings in the back. This made all the difference in our stay. If we had not been able to get the other room, not sure if we would have continued staying there. Perhaps if you were only there for 1 or 2 nights staying the back looking at those buildings would be okay, but not for 6 nights. the internet cable i was given to use in the room for the internet did not work, so had to use the wifi in the lobby. not the end of the world, but their service did not work as advertised.
