Review 1：There was nothing I didn't like.

Review 2：I needed a budget motel. Basically somewhere to rest overnight while we explored all day. Sadly rain forced much more time in motel than planned, the facilities were comfortable and handy for our stay. No complaints here.

Review 3：Small sink in the bathroom. "tired"-looking room. Was charged 2.6% finance fee on booking which owner claimed was due to booking.com incorrectly stating their terms - so does the guest end up paying for this mistake?

Review 5：My husband and I fly into Newcastle for a friends wedding. Kathy & staff are absolutely lovely. Very helpful and a pleasure to chat with. Loved that there is fresh milk provided on arrival for tea & coffee's. The rooms were clean, neat & tidy. Very Retro! Loved the place and will happily stay there again.

Review 10：I had a last minute trip to Hexham and needed a place to stay. I was very fortunate to still get a room at this great location. Staff was very welcoming and friendly. The bed was very comfortable and the room was all I needed for a one night stay.

Review 13：Quoted as 'the largest bathroom here'. Pity help the rest of the poor sods with their smaller than my matchbox bathroom. The rooms were antiquated, with the beds possibly having the original mattresses, must be 45 years old! Not at all comfortable by any stretch of the imagination.

Review 14：Not a whole lot, apart from the fact that the motel was set back from the highway, thereby reducing traffic noise to an almost acceptable level.

Review 15：the fact we won't told that we had to smoke 4 meters away from the room which was hard as we have a young child. Also the mini bar fridge barely worked and we were only supplied with bit of milk for coffee. And our sheets didn't get changed on the second night we will not be staying at the Mayfield again.

Review 17：Very, very dated fixtures and fittings, no main light, light over mirror didn't work in room, one power cord taped up, double adapter used in power point in wardrobe no phone, stained bedspread and very worn arm chair. Shower curtain not screen. Not good value for money at all.

Review 19：Very small rooms however this is due to age of the property! Lack of maintenance to room (i.e. towel hooks falling out of wall). Overpriced for size of room compared to more modern motels.

Review 21：Good basic accommodation for a budget price. Lady in reception was super nice and friendly. Not far to drive into Newcastle and reasonably easy to access.

Review 22：Outside lighting too bright, it was like daylight all night in the room; it affected my ability too sleep. The unit we were in was near a road, so noisy every am. Not enough microwaves etc to go around. No phone in room.

Review 24：Curtains are not wide enough to cover the windows effectively to shut out the light and give complete privacy. Bathroom floor particularly in shower did not seem to be totally clean (as with bleach). This is a very basic motel with no restaurant but the price seems to be comparable with higher rated motels in the area.

Review 28：Pillows were like rocks and very thin. It was so uncomfortable my daughter and I could not sleep and ended up with headaches. My daughter is an athlete and was competing and lack of sleep and headache was not ideal.Also rubbish under bed from previous guests and housemaid made up beds very poorly so I needed to remake them (hence my discovering old rubbish).

Review 30：The motel was super clean, the staff were exceptional and the bed was the most comfortable I have stayed in at any hotel. We went to the Sheraton in Noosa for Easter and this bed was better. We stayed at the Mayfield because the Uni Games were on in Newcastle so there were no other options. I couldn't have been more suprised at what a great place it was - we were very pleased.
