Reviews for Kuramathi Island Resort
Review 1:We had opted for a return transfer via Speedboat. We weren't informed until the previous night that there is only one speedboat from Kuramathi to the main island and that is at 6:00 am in the morning. Our flight was only later in the noon at 2:00 pm and we were forced to leave the island very early due to the inconvenient return transfer.
Review 2:The resort is very beautiful and very well maintained. We had a very comfortable stay.
Review 3:- I had to pay for water at dinner which was frustrating since I had paid for the full board package. - The wifi was free as promised but the speed was really disappointing (up to 0.3kbps) - you can hardly use it - no way to stream anything
Review 4:- The staff was very friendly and helpful - Food was just great - The room service was exceptional, they would tidy up the room even 2 times per day sometimes - The island is a paradise, very organized and clean - Lots of organized excursions, albeit a bit expensive - There is a beautiful coral reef right on the island, no need to pay and go for snorkeling using a boat - big plus
Review 5:One of our higher cost vacations for one week.
Review 6:The organization of the resort from arrival to departure was excellent. Snorkeling was world class. The beauty of the island itself was fabulous. The number of restaurants and food was very good. Everything was top notched.
Review 7:staff was really friendly (special thanks to Jessa & Manuel for the great hospitality), many restaurant options to chose from, ideal for a long stay guest so you wont get bored with the same food, and also since the island is big there's a lot to do & see around. lovely kids area if your traveling with children. food was very good with a full buffet option, heavily equipped sports center & a beautiful spa as well.
Review 8:They have some non-local staff , which are rude( especially a blond receptionist which we think was german). We were offered a free romantic dinner( not that great, not romantic at all, food was disappointing). Also the all inclusive service is a bit confusing, they have 2 different types of all inclusive. You have to pay for your own water @dinner , also entitled to 1l of free water a day which is disgraceful.
Review 9:The local staff were very friendly and helpul , food was great. The island itself is a paradise.
Review 10:The only sour point is that there is no diving with Whale Sharks, even though it is depicted on the diving website
Review 11:Could not fault it! The staff were fantastic, the food was lovely, with options available if the buffet was not your style. The drinks package is well worth the money, the activities are terrific and the scenery was exceptional!
Review 12:The diving was great due to the monsoon weather in September.
Review 13:The staff were amazing, Very curtious, and helpful. The Spa treatment was amazing. Definitely would go back there again.
Review 14:i will not recommend this resorts to anyone i love ..there are better options in maldives for example kurumba ❤️ for kuramathi the beach is too close and sand area is very small ..no slipers in room ..beach room has old furniture also the food in the buffet rest not good for people from middle east ..you will find lots of reviews talk about how yummy the food is but becarfule they talking about other rest ..the buffuet rest was not good at all.. even breakfest was so average for me.. you will not like it
Review 15:the sea
Review 16:The view of the antennas in the neighboring island - it harms a bit the view
Review 17:The reef The diving Ahmad - the windsurf trainer The amazing food at the restaurants Paradise on earth
Review 18:wifi needs to enter password every time you want to use it and relatively slow. drinks are way expensive bring mosquito repellant, the bites are nasty
Review 19:Staff, location, weather, friendliness
Review 20:Basic all inclusive package actually does not include all drinks. We expected wine and some alcoholics are not included, but once we upgraded the package, all snacks and juices in mini bar were taken by housekeeper. The fresh juices are also not included. Even in main restaurant, we could only choose canned drinks but no cocktails during meals. The package is too mean and not worth much. Unless you drink a lot, rent the snorkell equipment, join the Sunset cruise and visit the nearby island. A lot of trees, though its a good and natural scene, the sea view is blocked and can't do stargazing near the villa. Food variety is just ok but dont expect very tasty.
Review 21:The sandbank is must go! Really amazing! Also saw a lot of fishes. There is a baby shark near the jetty. The staff are very nice! Big island, but not crowdrd, never feel bored.
Review 22:The motorboat used for para-sailing was gone for repair since several weeks. Disappointed we missed out on that.
Review 23:Great service Loved our deluxe beach villa Nice selection of restaurants Good night life Island big enough to keep one entertained for several days
Review 24:Next time we wilOnly three things: The Wi-Fi could be an always-on connection; instead, you are being asked to enter the user/pass if you stop using it for awhile. Also, our bedroom mini bar was fully fitted with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks but they decided to remove the alcoholic drinks. We think they should at least ask if it is okay to leave them in the minibar with the price list. The return seaplane had no ventilation/fans but it's not the resort fault of course.
Review 25:The food is good, the cleanness is good and promptly, and the staff members are very kind, relaxed and with a positive attitude in general. The resort and villas are nice but we can't compare it with other resorts as we didn't visited any other resort yet. We went with Full Board and upgraded to All-Inclusive on our arrival. If you're not into alcoholic drinks, you should upgrade to All-Inclusive; just pay drinks and the excursions separately. Also, the All Inclusive has low demanding/cheap excursions and they offered Windsurf which requires you to take paid lessons if you don't know what you doing.
Review 26:No complaints - everything was great!
Review 27:The location is amazing, the resort is very well maintained and offers a lot more than other islands due to its size. Recomend upgrading from full board to basic all inclusive and no need for the extra all inclusive as the normal reataurant we were allocated was exceptional, with a great variety and no repetitions during our 12 day stay. I also prefered the location of the beach huts and although we considered upgrading to water bungalows, we prefered the location of beach huts and they were more than comfortable. Thanks to all the Kuramathi staff for the great vacacion. Will definitely come again.
Review 28:Friendly and helpful staff. Everything is well organised and runs very smoothly. The island is quite big and therefore it doesn't feel crowded at all.
Review 29:Stayed in garden beach villas (chrapest but one of the best choices given sunset side, best inner atoll beach to swim and convenient location in the middle of the island). Large island, great basic FB food package (add bottled water, coffees, basic alcohol, snorkel gear and sunset cruise for $50/day). Lovely house reef and fish (incl. white tip sharks!) at jetty side (other sides incl. channels water villa side not so much worth it). Own botanical/hydroponic garden. Make sure you take sunset champagne cruise. This time of year fantastic price/quality ratio especially while construction on far side lasts (no noise, no sognificant visual obstruction, remote and isolated area).
Review 30:Wifi wasn't really good compared to everything else. And there was some construction going, thus we couldn't get to the sand bank during walking along island (a motor boat goes there every half an hour).
Review 31:Thematic buffets everyday were delicious! Reef is beautiful, we've seen sharks and eagle rays. The most colorful sunsets at the sand bank.
Review 32:Not much fish and coral.
Review 33:The room is really spacious, staff is friendly, the kids club is really awesome specially if you have young children traveling with you.
Review 34:Although "full board," expect to be charged for water except for two small bottles in your room. Also don't expect much of a nightlife - most people knock off pretty early when I was there.
Review 35:Very relaxing place, with a whole bunch of activities available. Like other islands in Maldives, the beach was gorgeous and there is a spectacular sandbank that extends from the island.
Review 36:I would have liked that the timetables for lunch would have been little bit later... I from Spain and we don't have use to get up early for have breakfast in holidays ;D
Review 37:The relax and cleanliness!
Review 38:While the staffs are generally helpful, I wished they are friendlier and smiles more.
Review 39:I love the sand bank and enjoyed my first snorkeling experience. Full board option served us well. Food variety and quality was satisfactory.
Review 40:If I had to criticize anything I would say the bathroom in the water villas should have air conditioning...
Review 41:We loved everything about this island. Totally pampered and looked after. Highly recommend it.
Review 42:My only complaint was the useless wifi. Wifi is terrible. drops out a lot. Compared to other islands we stayed on.
Review 43:The restaurant staff and gift shop ladies are friends for life, loved them. Snorkel all day long.
Review 44:Constant chasing for signing off drinks and extra's Fact that guestscan only use the restaurant assigned Fact that there is no free seatingin the restaurant Creation of feeling that literally every little thinghas to be paid for . (F. ex. Lunch not included on departure day, because we took lunch on arrival day
Review 45:Great Location, close to the airport, and magnificent views ExcellentFood Snorkling reef exceeding expectations
Review 46:A bit pricey alcohol from the bar if you are not going for All Inclusive. Thats all :)
Review 47:The Island! Island is very beautiful. Its large, has rich flora and fauna! Has amazing view, and good snorkling. Very good food and cooking. Great cocktails.
Review 48:The poor quality of the food, and the water. Prices, too high. Difficult and bad information before arriving, and poor in situ. Corals, reefs,...poor if compare with other abroad seas.
Review 49:Vegetation. Gardens. The Villa Beach (our was the 145). Sunsets in the west side of the resort (the white sand, blues, yellow sun...)
Review 50:1. Free wifi can not connect automatically whenever we went to any covers area. 2. There're ants in our beach villa and the housekeeper helped us get rid of them by using spray. But somehow the actions could have been done during everyday's house cleaning.
Review 51:Very high standard service, excellent beaches, reefs and lagoon. Also leaves privacy to the guests. I like the way people protects the ecosystem and am supportive to the idea.
Review 52:Connection to the Internet was quiet annoying. You need to reconnect all the time High prices for drinks
Review 53:Good place to have a holiday Beautiful coralline reef, like swimming in an aquarium
Review 54:1. Far from Male airport. Need to take a plane and a boat 2. Limited night life
Review 55:1. Great Snorkling 2. Excellent food variety 3. Very clean and well maintained
Review 56:The limitation in restaurants on the all included package, the over priced all included package.
Review 57:The island is beautiful, the children facilities are great, very good breakfast, good sport center, beautiful variety of beaches.
Review 58:I tried, but could't find any minuses
Review 59:Best price-quality combination, beautiful large (on Maldivian scale) island with home reef on one side and fascinating laguna on the other. The service is on a very-very high level, the staff is very quick, always open for immediate help, frieindly and even advances inquiries. Rooms are cleanead twice a day. A lot of chaise lounges on the beach. Vey good diving center. All excursions are very well organised (by second).
Review 60:That every time wifi got disconnected we hv to re login. Not automatic.
Review 61:Everything!!! Starting from the complimentary upgrade, to the staff, cleanliness and quality of food. Can't wait to be back
Review 62:Where were the hammer heads? Disappointing morning dive, but otherwise great diving sites. Bikes would have made getting around island easier.
Review 63:Beautiful setting that pays attention to sustainability and environmental conservation. Great bar staff; facilities give opportunity to meet other holiday makers. Food services and staff outstanding; incredible variety and presentation at each meal.
Review 64:We booked full board. It was unfortunate that we were limited to only 1 restaurant for all 3 meals for our entire stay - unless we were willing to pay extra to try other restaurants.
Review 65:Service was excellent with super friendly and helpful staff.
Review 66:We should have stayed longer. Maldives was expensive overall.
Review 67:The Water Villa we stayed was nice and clean. The snorkeling was superb with many marine lifes and the house reef is beautiful. The sand bank was lovely. Me and my wife love swimming at the sand bank as we can choose either swimming at the beach side or the reef side. The facilities on the island was good. Basically i love my Kuramathi trip.
Review 68:It's not a cheap destination, but remember that everything has to be imported to these isolated islands.
Review 69:Possibly the most idyllic holiday destination on the planet! The island is large enough to wander for an hour, or more, with many distractions to prevent you from getting bored. Great "House" reef.
Review 70:Price of drinks were very high. The bar tender didn't make good cocktails. DJ didn't have any collection of Hindi songs
Review 71:Have to literally drag my wife back she didn't want to come back. Would run back to this place whenever we will get the opertunity. Loved everything about the place
Review 72:The Hotel mistakenly scheduled our seaplane transfer in the early morning instead of in the afternoon despite we requested several times. It is because the the resort failed to communicate our request to the seaplane company. We have to get up in 5 am and canceled our plan for the half-day city tour in Male. When we complained the issue to the hotel manager, the manager simply told us it is our hotel in Male that should be blamed. They simply didn't admit their mistake and refuse to apologize.
Review 73:One of the largest islands in Maldives with great ocean view. Beautiful place to stay. Our superior beach villa with jacuzzi is nice. The food is nice with various of choices. Staffs in the restaurant are friendly and offer good services.
Review 74:Maybe the fly line of the seaplane could change a little.Just take several minutes to fly around the island that vistors can enjoy the beautiful picture from the sky(Lily beach do it well). However the longer seaplane fly the more cost, maybe not all visitors can accept.
Review 75:We stayed in Kuramathi Island Resort and Lily beach for our journey.Which is better? It's must be Kuramathi Island Resort(≧▽≦)/.All the staff are so nice and politely that made us feel like living in a kingdom. The room, food, environment, anything are excellent. What's more the staff called Mohamed in the A restaurant is the best.We enjoyed his fantasy service all the time.
Review 76:We have to take our luggage at arrival and departure, while everybody else were assisted. We had to pay three times before leaving. Woman who gave us snorkel material was not vey kind.
Review 77:Beaches, swimming pools, staff, food, almost everything...
Review 78:nothing
Review 79:perfect vacation, very nice resort, clean and super friendly and helpful staff. was a dream come true.
Review 80:Nothing
Review 81:Everything
Review 82:The rains
Review 83:Snorkeling for the first time.
Review 84:Lovely report, everyone helpful, good food
Review 85:Everything is well
Review 86:Leaving!!
Review 87:Everything it was amazing!
Review 88:Hospitality, food options, cleanliness, quality of products, staff, meals, etc.
Review 89:Scuba diving
Review 90:Wi Fi slow, charging too much for water
Review 91:Food selection could have been better
Review 92:Staff and facilities are perfec
Review 93:Good place nice for more than 5 days
Review 94:was paradise best holiday ever. Select all inclusive was wonderful the restaurants were 5 stars
Review 95:No hammer heads, the seaplane is really expensive
Review 96:fantastic view, great staff. Snorkeling were magnificent. We even saw dolphins from the beach
Review 97:Our beach villa was a little dated no 28
Review 98:Food, staff, beaches and the lush trees
Review 99:Very dark at night to walk around. More lights will be good. Or increase frequency of buggy
Review 100:Staff are all very welcoming. View is good.
Review 101:Great place to stay, food was fantastic, lots of choice, staff very friendly, island very pretty
Review 102:Everything was perfect except the Buggies should operate more regularly.
Review 103:Everything was perfect.
Review 104:This is the Paradise, absolutly beautiful island. Very assistant staff. Clear and comfortable villa. The food and service very high quality. Silent , magical fauna and flora, high meaning about enviroment . Good aqua sport facilities. That a pity I must go home. ---- Minden magyarnak ajánlom és aki megteheti, hogy a Maldiv Szigetekre megy ezt a szállást válassza.
Review 105:The service on the island was awful. No other way to put it. There seemed to be a lot of teenagers who were unhappy they were at work. The girl who checked us in and out didn’t seem to have a clue as to what was going on. Also, we seemed to get different answeres from staff whenever we had questions. For example, we asked to upgrade the all inclusive to include drinks and we were origionally told that it was a 7 night mininum, we were only staying 4 nights. However, the next day we asked the front desk as this didn’t make sense to us, and they upgraded us immediately, but we still missed out on the first night. Things like this happened way too oftern. Given the cost to stay on the island, having such poor service is inexcusiable. As such, we wouldn’t choose this resport again in the future, even though it is absolutely beautiful and the diving was great.
Review 106:The island itself was beautiful. Well maintained.
Review 107:Just a small thing - from time to time there was a smell of sewage system aparently from next closeby island. Not very expected to occur in a Paradise. This is the only thing that comes to mind as sort of negative.
Review 108:Everything was fantastic. The staff was relly 5* - perffectly trained and focused on guests service. What also impresed me beynd all expectations was how the island environment was cared and the nature harmonized with modern resort. Absolutelly unique. And the food - I had traveled many 5*s around Europe and the Kuramathi chef - is ahead of all competition. If a visitor is not experienced with world's cousines than should try to study the menu - as it is such a variety - many people I guess could have a difficulty to understand what type of dish is that. A recomendation for chef and management - plase add some more detailed desription of dishes to help some Europens (specially East :-)) understand - what is that - spicy or not, ingredents, etc
Review 109:Because the island is quite big, your room maybe far from your assignedrestaurant, which means long walks or waiting for the bus. Unfornatelyonly the restaurants are non-smoking. All the bars ( also inside) and onthe patio are smoking areas-which often did not allow me to enjoy theview cause people were smoking. Also the all inclusive package stops atnoon on day of departure. We had the last seaplane at 3.30. so from avalued paying guest, we became a "go away quickly now-your time isup" person. Since the stay in this resort is not cheap, I would atleast expect them to let you have some drinks till you leave-at leastthe non-alcoholic ones. I found this policy to be a bit childish. So youhave your last cocktails at 10 to twelve, and empty your free drinksfrom the fridge in you carry on luggage.
Review 110:The island for a maldives resort is relatively big, which gives you thefeeling of being alone on the island. There are plenty of things to do,the free trip to nearby island where locals live is worth the trip.Needless to say snorkling is great, but make sure what side of theisland you are located. The side of the island which is inside the atolhas the best beaches, but is less for snorkling. That is on the otherside -indian ocean side-where the reef wall suddenly gives way to thedept of the ocean. However on this side, the beach is not easy accesibleand you need to be a confident swimmer to snorkel, cause the sea can berough. Best place for snorkling is near the main entrance, near thejetty. Calm sea and stairs straight into the water.
Review 111:superior beach villa is not superior food in buffet isn't good cleaning service of room is very bad no toothbrush in the room for $800 per day bus instead of buggy very few buggies seen in such a big island no room service and its not understandable
Review 112:water villa snorkeling size of island is big enough
Review 113:Deluxe villa garden layout and grass expected it to be more ambient Bathroom very basic
Review 114:Scenery accommodation food snorkelling layout facilities House white wine
Review 115:Beach villa is not on beach, as normally in Maldives resorts. Beach area is limited because of too much vegetation and trees. Food (not much variety, and not suitable for all ethnics). delays of sea plane on arrival (4 hiurs at airport lounge).
Review 116:meeting and greeting, staff, entertainment and live performance
Review 117:the wether was a bit hot and humid especially at noon on 7th July 2013 . There is a delay on our departure sea plain about an hour that's it
Review 118:almost everything
Review 119:It wasn't Maldivian authentic regarding entertainment or the cultureon the island. Having been to Carribbean islands, we were expecting tosee similar authentic experience. But its location, beauty of the islandand its waters definitely made up for this though.
Review 120:Snorkeling, Beach, Water Villa with Jacuzzi, Sand Bank, Food and Spa.
Review 121:Nothing at all! To be picky....... Would have liked at least water included with full-board meals Resort shops prices high - but as expected
Review 122:Stunning rainforest scenery and pristine beaches Delightful villa with outside (walled) bathroom Friendly and helpful staff Great snorkelling Food very varied and excellent choice of (extra) restaurants
Review 123:The Maldives is an expensive destination. Go there with the knowledge that some things will be charged as extras.
Review 124:I especially liked the fact that the reef for snorkelling was easy to access and "use", even for novice snorkellers. The staff informed us of various "inclusive" packages that would cover drinks, etc. but recommended that we see the actual level of our bill over a day before we decided to take one of the packages. As it turned out, it was cheaper for us to not take any of the packages.
Review 125:Drinks are very expensive at the resort's bars..
Review 126:Everything was amazing! All the staff were extremely friendly and they made us feel kinda unique.. Very good location, only 20 min with the sea plane from Male! One of the best holidays ever!
Review 127:too many mosquitoes and biting insects on the island, make sure you have some mosquito repellent lotion with you.
Review 128:Everything - I highly recommend this island.
Review 129:Did not enjoy the staff in the Indian Coffee Shop.. Don't get me wrong here they are friendly and pleasant.. But do not know how to handle the needs of service for an infant... The manager did apologize for his staff not able to process a simple request. But would have expected them to know the rules with kids a little better. but again very good people to be around, they take care of everything perfectly.
Review 130:Everything was perfect. Good rooms.. Nice beach.. Good choice of bars and restaurants,.. An excellent day care and baby sitting.. Friendly staff.. turn down services was very good and very frequent... awesome outer reef for snorkeling and good friendly and confidence building trainer.. The infinity pool was good but I would have liked it to be a little more bigger.. You need atleast close to 1 week to 2 weeks to lazily enjoy everything on the island... Lots of activity.. As all the guest suggest only opt for the all inclusive package..
Review 131:Besides the fact that you have paid enough money, you still have to payfor everything, for water, internet and dr.Servis say-no
Review 132:Three-star hotel, nothing more. Inflated price by 35-40%
Review 133:No room service but its understandable.
Review 134:Kids club is the best I have seen in the world, staff are lovely andcaring. Lots of restaurant choices so u never get bored. In general thestaff are great and friendly and its a v v child friendly place. Its mysecond time in the same resort and I can see myself going back thereagain next year too.
Review 135:we spend 4 day from honeymoon and it was amazing there , we really enjoy thank you to every staff and worker in that hotal ( there is small mosque for staff and muslim guest as well, nice )
Review 136:The design of the hotel and the way it is build seems to be a bitt old-fashioned, but comfortable and in alignment with four stars. Fish restaraunt-needs to be booked three days in advance, low quality of food. Jacuzziat Deluxe Beach Villa.
Review 137:Variety of sea life- sharks, turtles, rays, morays, etc. Rays feedingshow. Eco center/Sea life museum. Italian restaraunt. Sand bar atthe end of the Island. Jacuzzi at Water Villa.
Review 138:We were on the All Inclusive, and when our mini-bar was empty of softdrinks they wouldn't refill it, not even water - but we could takesoft drink bottles back to our room from the bar. Just seemed odd as itwas all included in the price. The Spa service was slow - even thesimplest thing seemed to require endless clicking on the computer.(Although to be fair this seems to be a general characteristic of Spas!)
Review 139:Great service at Male airport for the seaplane transfer. We loved thededicated Kuramathi Lounge. Generally the staff were attentive andhelpful. Our beach Villa with Jacuzzi was very nice. We loved the hottub (although the controls were complex.). Food in the inclusiverestaurants was good. Good service up and down the island in the mini-bus. Good gym as well, which wasn't mentioned in the brochure. Andthe Spa facilities were good, although see comment on speed of service.
