Reviews for Grand Hotel Continental

Review 1:The room facilities are a little out dated. Power sockets are placed awkwardly, in the middle of the wall far away from the bed & also I couldn't use the standard Europe plugs. The bed cover wasn't easy on the eye.

Review 2:Breakfast was excellent. Rooms very spacious with a little balcony. Quite luxurious.

Review 3:Breakfast could be more diversified.

Review 4:Hotel has wonderful location and excellent lunches. There are no extra payment for umbrellas and sunbeds. Tirrenia is a lovely and calm village, where you can recover your energy. On Hotel's page could be an information concerning service in Polish (special thanks to Mrs. Marzena).

Review 5:wifi is temperamental

Review 6:fantastic location. Amazing staff A big thank you to Riccardo and Satia at breakfast. Always big smiles and more than happy to help. Very much reccommended if you are a family with children

Review 7:Decor in desperate need of update inside and out. A shame as it might have been grand once upon a time. They insist on swim hats to use hotel pool. Should get a proper Coffee machine at breakfast, I didn't think italy did bad coffee!

Review 8:Great pool and close to a nice beach. Good dinner in main restaurant. Nice kids play area between pool and beach. Friendly staff

Review 9:Not much selection on dinner menu Wifi horrible Assigned beach area and layout of umbrellas and chairs. Should all be facing beach area.

Review 10:Pool, beach access Breakfast Bar staff excellent, professional & FUN.

Review 11:No power outlets. Had to unplug the fridge to charge our phone. Wife ahad poor signal and always dropped out. Regularly had to re-sign in which became frustrating

Review 12:Clean and modern room. On the beach. Big pool. Great location. Friendly staff.

Review 13:Pool and beach opening hours too short in hot summer weather. Run down outdoor facilities and infrastructure. Parking was an extra 15 Euro/night on top of the expensive room rate. We expected much more for the price. Reminded us of an old eastern European summer camp at the beach.

Review 14:we had a 2 connecting rooms, very dated hotel wifi only worked for 3 hours on the last night in a 5 day stay, room smelled moldy there was clear signs of waterdamage, the AC only worked a little in one room the other one only worked as a fan, this was also leaking the cleaning was also lacking the clearly only cleaned some parts of the room others was very dirty, a couple of the reception staff members where quite helpfull but the majority made us feel unwelcome and like a nusense

Review 15:close to the beach great pool, some of the staff where very nice

Review 16:Lack of hospitality, mostly unfriendly staff, opening hours not respected for the swimming pool activities, rooms cleaned following a random program sometimes during the resti,g hours, towels distribution in a chaotic way

Review 17:The position

Review 18:As expected from the hotels of such size - you are just one of the many visitors. So don't expect anything extra ordinary. Place for sleek, breakfast and air conditioner. The beach is the best part.

Review 19:i could honestly say i would highly recommand this hotel and look forward to my next visit

Review 20:pool ,food and rooms are all excellect and a great location and great staff .

Review 21:Low standard in rooms. Bad service in restaurants. No varieties in breakfast and very noisy breakfast area. Poor animation team. No day trips through the hotel. You had to sign on WIFI every 30 minutes with a long and lousy password which was very annoying. Not worth the price.

Review 22:Nice beach. Good location and near bus station.

Review 23:Right on the beach! Chairs, umbrella, and beach towels provided! Beautiful, olympic sized pool. Friendly staff. Updated rooms! Free parking. Wonderful breakfast.

Review 24:Breakfast options and evening meals were very inconsistent, some days great and others poor! Service was very slow and there is nothing to do at night, very quiet.

Review 25:Olympic sized pool was amazing, beach was lovely and towels were provided!

Review 26:poor non soundproof and a bit out of date rooms Wifi disconnects from time to time and you have to login again and again

Review 27:the distance and access to the beach

Review 28:I really missed to have vegetables for the breakfast. Coming to a South country you would expect to have more fruits and vegetables which was not the case here... Also, maybe it was just during our visit, but the place was overcrowded on the weekend which caused stressful traffic jams.

Review 29:The swimming pool is big and clean with all necessary facilities. The beach is also clean and equipped. There are plenty of nice restaurants and terraces in the region which allows you to have very nice dinners on the sunset.

Review 30:Resort was very quiet as we were out of the summer season but still a few restaurants open locally.

Review 31:Swimming pool beach and facilities all clean and well maintained. Staff were so helpful. Used hotel shuttle- booked via email. Bus stop across the road takes you straight to pisa in 20 minutes and then you can easily get trains - we visited Florence (12euros return)and Lucca (7 euros return) very easily via train for

Review 32:There are no busses or trains from the airport to Tirennia. Taxi costs 40-45 Euro for two adults and one kid with two cabin bags.

Review 33:We really enjoyed the closeness to the sandy beach, to shops restaurants and the bus stop to Pisa.

Review 34:Room far to hot, If you want to open a window to cool down, make sure you get a room pool side as the street side is far too noisy to keep your window open. Room a bit sparse, no table or chairs to sit at.

Review 35:Central location, free parking, comfortable bed.

Review 36:The rooms were dated and dark. The lighting was poorly maintained, the walls and carpets poorly maintained. The common areas were very hot and stuffy and breakfast difficult as a number of tour groups were also at breakfast making it a very difficult experience(number of people, service, seating etc) Outside the entrance is apalling with broken tiles and poor appearance i was dissapointed with the overall hotel and didnt find it good value for money.

Review 37:location good for an early morning flight from Pisa

Review 38:The hotel was tooooooo old the area round the hotel was too noisyeverything were old you were feeling like getting into a time-capsule of1970s - including the round area! Room was dirty (and floor of the roomwas carpet!!! And this next to the beach!!!) a/c was noisy and dirtyfood was awful (we almost ate flies with milk and many more...)information about the parking were wrong (due to BOOKING.com) mattresseswere too old and hard

Review 39:Good willing of the personnel

Review 40:(All minor, in terms of what was a very pleasant experience overall) wifi not as accessible as I would like, tv options limited would like radio facility in bedroom, box of tissues would be a welcome addition, as would a waste paper bin in the room

Review 41:Courtesy of staff, location, ease of access to the hotel from the airport, relatively easy parking arrangements, overall facilities - pool, beach, lobby and bar areas very accommodating.

Review 42:Street traders very prominent to the frontage

Review 43:Swimming pool and towels Plenty of shady areas on hot days Very good breakfast selection Selection of outside areas Selection of quiet indoor areas with comfortable seating Beautifully maintained gardens

Review 44:There wasn't a whole lot I didn't like. Some minor annoyances (wouldn't change my mind on staying though) were the wifi required a code, and only 2 devices were allowed to use the code. If you have a cell phone connected via wifi and another device such as an iPad, it doesn't leave any "free slots" for anyone else in your room. That was pretty much it though.

Review 45:This hotel is right on the water, with beautiful views of the ocean. We had a room with a balcony and it was awesome. The hotel staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. Pisa is a close drive. If you're looking for a hotel close to Pisa and on the water, this is where you want to stay.

Review 46:Wi-fi didn't worked well in the room, you had to sit in the hallway for us. That is the only thing, the rest was perfect.

Review 47:Towels at the pool! Breakfast was very tasty and rich. Room was cleaned every day from very nice ladies. At the bar you could get lots of nuts, cheese, mini pizza's etc. Great!

Review 48:the bed cover very pale like very old and not good fashion and very thin also the plancets same very deppressive

Review 49:mrs sandra in reception and mss ludimily

Review 50:Very old hotel, the feeling that you're trapped somewhere in the year 1950. We are very disappointed, not worth the 4-stars, unacceptable to have mold in the room, especially when you are with children! No balconies. Price not meets the conditions in the hotel.

Review 51:Yes this hotel needs an upgrade and breakfast is self service making more like a top end three star hotrl Staff came across as not being friendly but this could have been due to language barrier, as they did pay attention and tried their best to help, even writingbindtruction s for me in Italian so as to help me negotiate my way at the train stationmasters

Review 52:Welcoming staff. Agreed to an early check in. Clean rooms, peacefil. Huge pool, plenty of towels, close to beach and restaurants especially the Villa Roma Restaurant just part the hotel on your left at the end which offers an excellent but very personalised service. Varied breakfast. Good value for money. With help from staff I sortred out free parking. Easy reach of Pisa and Florence

Review 53:Shower far too narrow WiFi weak Pool-music until very late in the night Breakfast buffet: fruits not appetizing Little details not working, like light by the bed

Review 54:Good pool Close to the sea Very friendly staff

Review 55:Our room was very noisy at night due to outside music. It was very difficult to sleep until music stopped (in the room where we were staying.) maybe quieter in rooms other side. No tea making facilities.

Review 56:I liked the hotel and facilities. Very spacious. Staff were very helpful and efficient. Good frequent bus service to Pisa.

Review 57:mini bus not available to take us back local taxi arranged and we ended up paying 45 euro to get to hotel and then 35 to get back. unable to get explaination from hotel but hopefully they wlll refund our costs

Review 58:easy journey to hotel from airport - used the hotel transfer. hotel was quiet and beds very comfortable. staff were friendly and helpful. Pool and private beach was also so very well looked after.

Review 59:Max 2 star with 10euro per night

Review 60:The staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The rooms were large and spacious with fantastic views.

Review 61:Bit dissappointed that pool was closed and you could not even sit beside the pool

Review 62:Comfy room, friendly and helpful staff and I felt very relaxed.

Review 63:Dark room, not enough lights

Review 64:Free wifi access, minibar, staff friendly and French speaking

Review 65:The friendliness of he staff

Review 66:Both breakfast rooms were too warm needed aircon

Review 67:Location, Pool, Beach, Lunch, Staff and especially our room were all excellent

Review 68:Confusing information.

Review 69:Great location near the sea with private beach in Tirrenia. Location is close to bus stop. Breakfast is good.

Review 70:Wifi is pretty weird, every twenty minutes you have to make registration

Review 71:Location and place just amazing

Review 72:Hotel is looking dated and is more a 3.4 star hotel. No shuttle to airport (20 mins) despite paying 3k for room

Review 73:Pool, Beach, wi if and Kids Club

Review 74:The beach area is not exclusive to the hotel and it is bad.

Review 75:I"m a vegetarian. I did not like there are no vegetables at breakfast

Review 76:small shower, uncomfortable bed

Review 77:swimming pool, beach

Review 78:The hotel is no more than 2 stars. No wi fi in the rooms. Bad staf. Only italian tv channels. Old furniture. In general - don't go there

Review 79:Nothing

Review 80:This hotel is over-priced, run down and dirty. Would not recommend.

Review 81:The staff were informative and friendly

Review 82:The A/C was not the best.

Review 83:Nice beach, pool, good bar, and continental breakfast.

Review 84:Great location friendly staff very clean

Review 85:The Beach was amazing, great staff very friendly, relaxing and enjoyable!

Review 86:Very clean. Helpful staff

Review 87:Overall room and hotel condition. To be renovated.

Review 88:Beachside is ok, and breakfast is correct

Review 89:No shelf in bathroom to put toiletries. Also glasses in bath were plastic.

Review 90:Ocean view from balcony of all rooms. Nice private beach. Great staff.

Review 91:Wifi sign in process was odd. If idle for a minute or two you had to sign in again.

Review 92:Location. Facilities. Swimming pool. Breakfast.

Review 93:location

Review 94:The location was quiet area and not a lot of restaurant choices around

Review 95:Good value for money.

Review 96:No drinks in room.

Review 97:Position of Hotel. Good breakfast.

Review 98:The beds! They were rock hard.

Review 99:Restaurant, pool, beach

Review 100:sea is not the best

Review 101:Russian personal in the hotel was extremely helpful and friendly

Review 102:Hotel needs remodeling, too old for that price. AC needed in the gym. Not a vacation place, more conference facility.

Review 103:Beds were ok

Review 104:close by beach

Review 105:Tirrenia

Review 106:Being close to the ocean

Review 107:Very infront of the beach!

Review 108:When you look at facilities list for the hotel everything looks perfect but on arrival I realised that this hotel was good about 20 years ago but is very dated throughout now. The exterior looks like an industrial building. Rooms had paint pilling of the ceiling and balcony walls, rather large bathroom would have very small and probably cheapest shower cabin that one would struggle to even get in. Clearly tried to save here. Wash basin is also dated and a typical old "tulip" style with no space at all for your stuff (tooth brush, perfumes etc.) . The air conditioning is just making a nose but does not actually cool and you can not open windows at night because live music at the restaurant in front of the hotel would not let you sleep till about 1 am. Details of the hotel state free parking and pictures suggest that it is underground parking that you'd be offered, but no, free parking is outside where the market place is and lots of strangers wondering around as well as commercial vehicles trying to turn avoiding other cards, so no security at all. Underground parking is 15 EUR per night (!). In overall, given the state of the rooms and age of the hotel, this should really be rated 3 stars. The word "Grand" in hotel name has nothing to do with what you expect from "Grand" hotel but rather implies size of the building and number of people staying. Generally crowded rather than quiet place and location.

Review 109:The location is close to the seafront as well as within easy reach to Pisa and Livorno (bus fare is only 2 EUR and buses are very modern). Breakfast quite generous, nice and large swimming pool, beach towels are free as well as free swimming caps for the pool. WI-FI actually works and quite fast.

Review 110:Great location for the beach. We had already spent a few days in Florence so this was an ideal place to relax with easy access to Pisa airport. There are plenty of restaurants close by. We ate in the Hotel one evening and thought it was very good, sea bass was 14 euros, so not expensive, and made a change from pasta and pizza. The pool is excellent, with towels provided. We appreciated the free use of cycles, and enjoyed the level ride to Port of Pisa.

Review 111:The hotel is not near a train station. The closest train station is in Campiglia and requires a bus to get to and from the hotel. The hotel offers a shuttle but charges $25 Euro per person which is about the same if not more for 2 people than a taxi. The hotel is not helpful in providing information on the buses required to get to and from the train station or any connecting info to get anywhere else. The town, shopping and restaurrants also close incredibly early (even hotel restaurant is not available between 3-6pm). They also require a special card to get to their private beach which seemed to be an inconvenience since we were not there during a peak season when it would matter. There are also street vendors selling knock-off stuff across the street which could be a good or bad thing depending on the person, but given the price of the hotel it seems more of an annoyance. Our biggest complaint is not knowing how difficult it would be to get to and from the hotel to anywhere else since our intention was to use it as a central location to hold our stuff while day tripping elsewhere.

Review 112:The hotel was nice. It had a good view of the water from the balcony.

Review 113:The beds, the old decor.

Review 114:I really loved being near the beach and all the amazing restaurants close by. The hotel staff was amazing. I went to the bar and asked them to open a bottle of wine that I did not buy from them and they gave me two glasses a bucket of ice and some chips. Extremely friendly staff and very professional. We even got an upgrade which was great to put our baby in the second room connected. It definitely is not a five star resort, but for the location on the beach and the staff it makes up for the old hotel and the firm beds

Review 115:The building itself and the Tirrena area was kind of separated from the sea. Usually it's the big thing, but somehow they 'manage' separate the beach from the small town. Too big pool were you also needed a headcap.

Review 116:Very good hotel, nice staff, clean rooms, if something were broken they fixed it immediately. The beds ok.

Review 117:this place is a dump, it has nothing grand or continental, or nothng justifyiing moe tha 2 stars. Clientele s mass torism rooms tiny, The town is a suburb of W. Pisa, full of motorcyclists, etc. At least the ar conditoning worked; my advice: stay away and avoid Tirrenia, if at all possble.

Review 118:great Olympic pool

Review 119:The wifi in the room didnt work and when we got the buffet lunch, which was nice, the staff were constantly watching us, and made us feel a little uncomfortable

Review 120:The pool was very nice. Good location of hotel beside the beach

Review 121:Unfriendly staff, horrible food, bathroom had dry leaves in shower which we repeatedly asked staff to take out but were told that cleaners have been around at 1:30 pm already !! We checked in at 2 !!!

Review 122:Location

Review 123:Hotel now a bit dated, pool area was strange and very regimented, swimming hats required and seemingly no fun allowed. Beach area had deckchairs rather than sun loungers. Some staff a little pompous. Nothing else to do in the town, only a few restaurants nearby that were all the same, nearest supermarket is 20mins cycle away, lots of empty shops.

Review 124:Large balcony on the top floor, breakfast choice was great. Free bicycle hire. Bus stop for Pisa very close by. For a very short stay its fine if you travel to other places.

Review 125:milky windows, no further complaints.

Review 126:basically a common 4* Hotel, yet its best times lay obviously in the past. Friendly and helpful staff. A little bit "unbrushed": all windows were somehow milky, cleaning periodically would be very helpful. Breakfast very ok, inside much more impressive than outside. once at my stay nice live piano music. Garage in house, good starting point for sightseeing. good price ratio

Review 127:Rooms rather stark and bare; lighting deficient. A comfortable chair to sit in would be desirable. Bathrooms need attention- stains were present in lavatory and shower - no safety rail in shower: not enough hooks to hang nightclothes etc. Not enough room to lay our toilet things. Lack of waste bin in bedroom is irritating.

Review 128:Rooms quite spacious; public spaces large - plenty of sitting areas. Reasonably quiet at night; view to the sea from room. Good storage space 9in bedroom.

Review 129:Small shower in en-suite. Expensive evening meals. Area has other restaurants but all pricey and similar menus. Difficult for gluten-free although supermarkets do sell a range of GF products. Prefer non organised beaches as annoying to be told where to sit but there are more relaxed sea fronts around.

Review 130:Lovely helpful staff, great extras - free bike hire, free towels for pool or beach. Well organised and varied buffet breakfast. Brilliant lunch time buffet which was reasonably priced.Very clean throughout the hotel. Excellent base for exploring the area by public transport or car.

Review 131:Breakfast was ok. buffet style same every day. Glad we only did b&b. Hotel quiet not much entertainment in the evening or for children (8 year old child with us) Facilities in the resort a bit dated Very small shower

Review 132:Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel/rooms were clean. Good size room and views. Pool/beach location excellent. We used it as a base to go to Pisa
