Reviews for Quality Hotel Noah's On the Beach
Review 1:The bed was quite soft and could probably be replaced. The balconies are tiny, but it's nice to have a sliding door to let in the ocean breeze.
Review 2:Ideal location directly across from Newcastle beach! We received an upgrade to an ocean view room on the top floor; the view was absolutely beautiful. Staff are helpful, friendly and professional. Free on-site parking is a treat. Overall, a very enjoyable stay.
Review 3:Old fashioned and over fussy decor that seemed at odds with the casual location, not a criticism just an observation. Bleach odour from bathroom, probably dealing with mould. Rather old fashioned menu in restaurant.
Review 4:Location
Review 5:Carpark is very small and staff were a bit curt. If possible ask for a room with ocean views.
Review 6:Location was great-close to the beach and short walk to shops.
Review 7:Staff friendly but no management! Waited 15 minutes to check in. No thought to size of room allocated (3 to 1 room but given the only room without storage space..). Breakfast time changed without warning (9:30 pushed back to 9:00). Woken up at 8:30 by house-keeping wanting to check for leaks after heavy rain during the night. Leaking ceiling in restaurant (leaks through electrical lights that were switched on). No sports facilities.
Review 8:Pillows are hard to please everyone, mine could have been firmer.
Review 9:Noah's staff are a wonderful reflection of the high standards that this establishment offers. Our room had a great ocean view, was clean and inviting with a comfortable bed. Jonah's Restaurant was a bonus after a long day travelling.
Review 10:No access to the balcony. This was communicated after I made the booking. Was promised an upgrade after the first night but it never happened and no explanation provided
Review 11:Booking.com sent me an invoice for two nights as required, was only charged for one. Then had to pay for the second there ? A little miss communication somewhere ?
Review 12:The two main meals ordered in the restaurant were not of the standard expected for the price paid. The seafood tasting plate was overcooked in all areas leading me to feel that it had been made earlier then reheated. My husband had to leave some of his pork dish because it was too dry and hard to cut through. We were compensated with our bottle of wine being given to us for free although my birthday experience was disappointing as we had been told by friends the food was excellent.
Review 13:The staff were polite and the location was fantastic
Review 14:We couldn't access the balcony cause it was getting renovated but there was nothing on the balcony to prevent us from going out there to enjoy the view a little bit more. We could only open the door a tiny bit to let some fresh air in but there was a lock on the door to prevent from opening in full.
Review 15:The view was amazing. The food was amazing. The bed was comfy. The staff were lovely. I loved how peaceful it was, the only thing you could hear was the ocean.
Review 16:We could not open the door to go onto the balcony. At the price that we paid you would think that should be fixed by now
Review 17:Your staff are as good as any in the world
Review 18:The room was bit small and congested. The biggest issue was there was no microwave, had difficulties with baby food preparation.
Review 19:The location was excellent
Review 20:We couldn't sleep properly as the smoke alarm had a very bright light on it that would pulse on and off. The view of the beach was actually mostly a view of the roof. The TV didn't work properly.
Review 21:Just a shame we could not use the balcony as we paid the extra for the balcony and even though one week out from our stay we were informed - it was too late to try and find somewhere else for New Years Eve
Review 22:Lovely room with great views of the beach.
Review 23:The lady on reception was very welcoming and efficient but she was overwhelmed by the number of guests trying to check in, they really need two staff on in the afternoons.
Review 24:Fantastic location, view from room fantastic if you pay extra for an Ocean View Room, well worth the extra $20 a night. View from dining room even better.
Review 25:The only suggestion I would have is the lights in the room are too bright. Other then that it was incredible
Review 26:Great trip and lovely service from Denise at front reception
Review 27:The failure to advise that as in-house resident there was no dining positions available and we not advised to make reservations at booking time. As an elderly couple we had to leave the hotel at night and find a suitable restaurant.
Review 28:the dining room aspect
Review 29:It was a shame the doors to the balcony could not be opened. I was looking forward to hearing the ocean.
Review 30:The location is excellent, staff were relaxed and efficient.
Review 31:The new balcony was locked off about 4 hours after we checked in . We went out for an evening walk and returned to our room to find the sliding door to balcony locked. We phoned reception to complain and were then told it was locked because of an incident somewhere else on a verandah in the hotel. It was the next afternoon we received an official letter from the Manager saying the verandah had been locked but no real honest explanation about why. The room service we ordered was great except for the disappointing chicken on top of the ceasar salad - it smelt off so we had one small taste and had to throw it in the bin . We ate the plain ceasar salad under the chicken slices and the other 2 menu items we ordered were lovely. We didn't complain at the time as our room service was ordered late and we were too tired to call reception at 10 pm to make a complaint.
Review 32:All the Noah's staff from reception, room service to house cleaning were very friendly and courteous. Location and price are fantastic!!
Review 33:A lot of construction work being carried out. Unable to go out on the balcony due to safety issues. Noah's did not offer any compensation for the inconvenience.
Review 34:Location was great opposite the beach. Breakfast food was awesome.
Review 35:Wasn't allowed to use the balcony-recently completed but there was some last minute "safety" issue which necessitated management key-locking access in each room.
Review 36:Magnificent view
Review 37:buffet breakfast not many options example being expected some cold meats like smoked salmon etc., no specific pricing for kids for buffet breakfast example my son is 3 and was charged $5 one day and free the next was told we guess a price based on nwhat we think they will eat???? this is advised prior to your child eating anything, most hotels under 12 is free including the Hilton which we usually stay. Car park is pokey and I crashed into a pole reversing out of my park, not the Hotels fault and hard to change but its not a comfortable car park to get in and out of easily.
Review 38:View from room amazing, easy access to Newcastle beach and ocean baths, buffet ok, bathroom tiles new although taps loose and old, room appeared to be sound proof no noise heard from other guests or main road which was excellent, tv is good size and quality brand with good picture, balcony was great for ocean breeze. The Christmas decorations were great! Location to fantastic restaurants and ease of getting around city made stay enjoyable.
Review 39:Had to leave by 10 a late check out would have been good if possible. To be fair we did not ask.
Review 40:The location, the hotel was great, the staff were great
Review 41:The breakfast was very high price especially for the quality of food we got, the bacon was dripping in fat and very soggy.
Review 42:The views where breathe taking
Review 43:Not enough parking in or around noahs. Parking if you are staying there is very important .drinks at the bar too expensive
Review 44:Room location was great well appointed
Review 45:Unfortunately the first night road works all night. But not hotels issue. after that brilliant.
Review 46:Position great view over surf beach pacific ocean. Friendly helpful staff
Review 47:Road works out the front which we weren't notified about. Woke us up at 6am everyday and ruined the view.
Review 48:Great view and walking distance to Darby Street and beaches
Review 49:Inhouse phone didnt work properly Pillows were hard No fresh air as couldnt open window Window was dirty so spoiled the view Fridge in room was really noisy Noise was horrific from the wedding downstairs No parking spaces
Review 50:Friendly staff Breakfast was nice
Review 51:The room was old and I understand why the place is being renovated. I know this may be picky but the sheets felt dirty and were very hard. The pillows felt old and flat also.
Review 52:Beautiful location on the beach. Staff were friendly and helpful with a cot for our baby.
Review 53:Parking is a problem with very small car spaces; the bathroom was quite cramped, particularly the shower in the bath.
Review 54:The ocean view is just spectacular; buffet breakfast fantastic.
Review 55:Tv reception terrible Remote batteries flat and asked them to be replaced took over an hour for the guy to arrive When he did arrive I told him I had asked reception for another room where the TV worked an hour later he bought the key up. I moved and the tv in the new room was the same Lao I just gave up
Review 56:Excellent location, at beach. Excellent bed, linen and pillows- this is most important. Good price compensates for lack of high end bathroom and facilities.
Review 57:Parts of the hotel are under reno which detracts from the look and meant we couldn't use our balcony but we were unaffected by noise.
Review 58:Staff couldn't be more helpful. Our room looked straight over the beach which was a lovely view to wake up to. Everywhere was clean. There were weddings on both nights of our stay but we were unaffected.
Review 59:The lift was good from the undercover carpark to the floors above. The carpark was not secured. From street level to the reception were about 15 steps. The exterior was still being worked on, and the council was working on the beach access path resulting in noise from 6am.
Review 60:Our room had recently been refurbished and was very smart and clean. It was good to go out on the balcony and feel the fresh air and watch the waves.
Review 61:The restruant is in an amazing location but the quality of the food was much lower than previous occasions we have eaten there. Happy to spend more on food but expect a little finesse. Wait staff were great.
Review 62:The location and ambience of the motel
Review 63:Crunchy plastic undersheet- easily removed then the bed was very comfortable
Review 64:Staff very friendly and helpful, easy parking and the best location in Newcastle
Review 65:Not a bad experience but room and ensuite a little tired and needed updating, particularly shower and floor tiles.
Review 66:Loved location. Loved undercover parking and common areas such as bar and dining room. Great coffee served at bar.
Review 67:The hotel was undergoing renovations, so views and privacy were compromised. The balcony door was locked because it was awaiting inspection. It was not worth paying the premium for a room with a view. Also, the breakfast buffet was underwhelming, and the waiter was (annoyingly) over-attentive.
Review 68:The location.
Review 69:The so called Harbour View Room was a view of rooftops with distant water on the horizon. The building was being renovated so in the morning we had a crane working outside our window. Had to draw the curtains!
Review 70:The clock alarm going off at midnight The price of the restaurant food, with no alternative (eg a snack bar) available in house,
Review 71:Beng upgraded to a room with a view.
Review 72:Clean room, but a bit dated, thin walls heard a lot of noises from next door. I was annoyed that there was construction happening on the exterior of the building so there was scaffold in front of our lovely view and we couldn't take in the scenery on the balcony, or get fresh air as it was closed off, this should have been mentioned upon booking.
Review 73:Spectacular view!
Review 74:Very small room. Shower over bath. Faulty television set - intermittent failure. Tight parking spaces. Untidy car park. Building site conditions in some areas due to refurbishment works in progress.
Review 75:Location, views, dining, room service.
Review 76:I did not like the shower over the bath - I only had the side of the basin to hold on to - I told reception about it!
Review 77:Parking in building across road from beach - paddled minutes after I checked in!
Review 78:With Noah's long-held reputation as being superior perhaps I expected more. There were extensive renovations externally going on which made standing on the balcony and enjoying the view and the sea breeze impossible. I thought the room was very small compared to the many other hotels etc that we have stayed at in Newcastle. We had difficulty finding the entrance when we arrived to check in.
Review 79:Nothing
Review 80:No veranda, had to move rooms at 3am because ours was full of moths and mozzies so we moved from 517 - 611 and after we settled in we found out the toilet did not work we had to fill the jug and poor that down the toilet
Review 81:Sadly, due to the balcony renovation project my view was completely blocked. However, I presume the price reflected this temporary issue.
Review 82:Location of hotel. Value for money.
Review 83:Booking in lady was very good.. Marjorie, I think. Room & view good. Realise building work still being done, but that happens. All staff were welcoming....
Review 84:We booked a double room through booking.com and the room we were put in was absolutely nothing like the room the pictures showed we were getting. It was small and smelled very musty.
Review 85:The woman at the front desk the day that we checked out was extremely friendly.
Review 86:Under renovations at the moment and there was a bit of scaff in front of the window, but could still see the view. will be stunning when its completed.
Review 87:happy friendly staff, beautiful room with the sound of the ocean/waves putting me to sleep.
Review 88:Very ordinary tired hotel. Sparse room, paid wifi except for 200mb of super slow internet. No towels in room. TV did not work and had to be repaired.. Just not a 4 star hotel at all.
Review 89:Aging room and no other facilities for the price of room I expect more. Car park not sufficient space between cars and my new car was scratched by someone, very disappointing They have just installed new balconies but could not sit on balcony comfortably as it was sloping in a v shape and chair would not stop rocking.
Review 90:View from room , proximity to beach
Review 91:Room was relatively small, dim and dated but fine for an overnight stay. Far too small for a longer stay. Renovations were underway therefore scaffolding was all around the building and workmen in front of us while we were eating breakfast which was fine but didn't add to the aesthetic.
Review 92:Staff were exceptionally helpful abc friendly. View from restaurant was stunning,
Review 93:We booked through an exterior website which had no mention of the renovations taking place. Upon arrival we were told we booked a renovation room on the harbour side. Not true. I booked a last min value room on the beach side upper floors (if it was possible) in my requests. We were given a beach side room on the lower floors only because the air conditioning had failed in the building that day and the new room gave us the option to open our balcony door a tiny bit to let air in. It could only be opened slightly as it was locked off due to construction works. They offered us free cancellation at our point of arrival, but as we had no other choice at that last minute we stayed anyway. We had a wedding to attend within 2 hrs. I'm thinking a 50% discount would've been a more appropriate outcome. Other than that I think the hotel is lovely on all fronts.
Review 94:Staff were great, friendly, helpful.
Review 95:Renovations of the property were underway so while we had reasonable views we could not open the door to the balcony. In addition the air-conditioning broke down in the hotel during our stay and no one informed us of the problem. it was a very hot weekend and so the room, with the door only able to be opened a couple of inches, was very uncomfortable from a temperature point of view. No compensation or reduction in tariff was offered as a result of these issues.
Review 96:Good position
Review 97:Air conditioning was not working. Motel bought fans butthey didn't distribute, we had to ask.Building noise annoying.
Review 98:Only thing I could fault was the entrée could have been warmer, but still delicious
Review 99:professionalism of staff. it was my grandsons wedding and I was greatly impressed with the courtesy
Review 100:Advertising Not clear about construction overhall of entire hotel on booking websites. Asked to pay before we saw the room. Faded Glory, staff somewhat arrogant and head chef in overpriced restaurant delusional. Pasta more like porridge at $39 a plate.
Review 101:Felt it was quite expensive considering you looked out to a plastic sheet over the balcony- quite clostraphobic feeling and had worm men walking past your window from 8am. Also my shower had no curtain the first night so the bathroom was soaking wet.
Review 102:Location of hotel was good and staff were very nice
Review 103:The property was being refurbished. This did not take too much away from the experience
Review 104:Very close to the city and to the beach. My room had pleasant views over the city and ocean.
Review 105:The a/c didn't work and we couldn't open the windows due to the renovation work, so the room was very stuffy snd unpleasant.
Review 106:Well located.
Review 107:No mention of renovations until after booking was made. Construction noises from 7:00am. Room was not properly cleaned. Bathtub was stained. Tea/coffee provided was past expiry date. Furnishings/fittings are quite worn.
Review 108:Great location.
Review 109:Bookings.com really let me down. Renovations are happening, fresh paint smells and loud construction noises from 7:40a.m. right outside my window. I was wanting a relaxing break and this was definitely not relaxing. No warning as I made my booking.
Review 110:My business partner had a strong smell of Turps in his room from brushes being washed left in a container outside his balcony door. The doors to the balcony were locked and he awoke at 4 am unable to breath.
Review 111:Location and view
Review 112:note the hotel is currently under heavy constructions, meaning, the beach view is completely hidden and you will get a good amount of noise starting 8:00AM. In addition, in some of the rooms the AC is not working.
Review 113:Nice staff, good location
Review 114:Booked online and we're not advised that was in the middle of construction work and had scaffolding and brattice covering whole window. Plastic vent fell out of wall onto my head when went to bathroom. Only one staff member checking people in and had to wait a long time. Carpark full and difficult to maneuver
Review 115:The view of the crane and construction. Also it felt like the room wasn't completed as fixtures were falling off the wall and we had to listen to the toilet running all night. There was also no bin provided for the room
Review 116:We would have been happy with the location but it was completely under construction
Review 117:We were not informed that the entire building was covered in scaffold. As such, we had no balcony, permanently locked balcony doors and our ocean view was blocked by scaffold. Very disappointed.
Review 118:Carpark was full due to wedding. Building facade undergoing construction, no noise at night but view is partially affected.
Review 119:Clean, comfortable, quiet room. Nice beach location. Couple of restaurants & bar within walking distance.
Review 120:Just happened to be the 1 in 100 yr storm to hit Newcastle... No Power, No hot shower, No restaurant for a romantic night away.
Review 121:Staff were friendly and informative.
Review 122:We come from inland NSW so look forward to sleeping with the sound of waves in background. With this option taken from us, it was just another hotel experience.
Review 123:Excellent staff and breakfast facilities.
Review 124:The room was very dated. We were celebrating our 24th wedding anniversary so got a room on the top floor with a view. When we arrived the building was covered with scaffolding so not much of a view, no balcony access due to construction and the spa bath was broken. Very disappointed considering the occasion.
Review 125:The location and the food was excellent.
Review 126:There was no parking provided. When I called the hotel to inquire as to where to park I was told to park in a 2 hour car park on the road and move my car as required.
Review 127:The car park leaves a lot to be desired ,you go out to get something come back no spots left
Review 128:I had a most relaxing stay , I needed to get away ,the walk to nobbys head was just so cool
Review 129:$15 per day for wifi is ridiculous in this day & age. The 1.5% credit card surcharge is also a bit rich - why not just include in the tariff? Who carries that much cash these days? Scaffolding across the window made the tariff even more unreasonable.
Review 130:position
Review 131:The car park needs a major overall & redesign so it is easier and safer for customers to park. Wasn't advise of major works to the hotel until I arrived.
Review 132:Closeness to the beach
Review 133:The hotel had problems with the Internet connection. Although I was not able to use the Internet for my stay I was impressed with the speed they had it corrected by professionals. So, in a sence, this was a positive since it shows they will correct problems quickly.
Review 134:The staff were very helpfull and friendly. The hotel location was perfect. It was right next to the beach. We had the Harbour view and not the sea view but we believe the Harbour was the better choice. We watched the ships come into Harbour all day.
