Reviews for Paradise Bay Hotel
Review 1:Only supplied with tea/coffee for first day. Had to pay for room safe-usually complimentary in most hotels in this day and age. Breakfast limited choice and poor quality. Uncomfortable beds and lumpy pillows-did not have one decent night's sleep in 3 week stay. Staff were not very friendly or helpful. Noisy maintenance works all day most days-if I had known this prior would definitely not booked. Hotel lacked atmosphere, was dated and majority of staff are in need of customer service training.
Review 2:View from room
Review 3:at the reception they dont have the bus schedules, you need to walk to the bus station to know the time tables.
Review 4:the swimming pools offer a nice view, breakfast is impressive. staff is very kind and well informed.
Review 5:We had quite some hassle to get the sea view rooms we wanted even though we booked as 9 months earlier! But then The receptionist was very nice and kindly changed our rooms. NYE entertainment was very poor.. We were not sitting at the gala dinner but in the other restaurant but still the musician was very poorly.
Review 6:The bay view
Review 7:Reservations had our booking done wrong under the wrong names even tough we kept showing them the booking.com form We booked in March for 31st December, 3 days in total and our group was allocated non refurbished rooms and not sea view. We had to argue with them to change rooms as they kept saying they are full but since we booked in March we felt they had to give us priority and we are also repeat guests. We were 16 in total in our grp. Also we booked a table for whole group for dinner since we were 16. Front desk confirmed, we went to restaurant and confirmed. We go in evening and our table was not done :( they said noone told them! A table was done after joining other tables. Selection of the buffet was very limited compared to last year. Dj was not good and even if other guests asked him to change he did not. Everyone left after midnight.
Review 8:Breakfast was very good Cleanliness of rooms
Review 9:Food wasn't great, empty trays took ages to get refilled in buffet Indoor pool had way too much chlorine and isn't heated.
Review 10:Spacy rooms Friendly and helpful staff
Review 11:Bedroom television needs upgrading from small 4:3 to a medium sized HD widescreen.
Review 12:Hotel nice and warm throughout. Room cleaned daily. Very good choice of food with hot plates to put it on! Bar and restaurant staff very good. Nightly entertainment if you wanted it. Gozo ferry a stroll away. Bus stops outside complex.
Review 13:internet vouchers don't work properly (3 day voucher worked only one day). The people who can help with such vouchers were not around, and it took them half day to fix it. The same happened with the second voucher.
Review 14:It is a wonderful place with clean air and beautiful views. It was end of December but we could sunbatche on the balcony, as it was very warm. The staff was very nice and friendly.
Review 15:Nothing in particular.
Review 16:Was nice end of season and you could tell that it was nothing in surrounding area wouod have to travel for a resturant not attached to hotel.
Review 17:I cannot say what I liked best from this hotel because I liked everything! From breakfast to dinner. Helpful staff and a nice atmosphere. The room was as expected, high-class, spacious and very comfortable (junior suite).
Review 18:There was no working air conditioning and several visits to reception failed to clarify that it was off from November. I did not get any apology for having sleepless nights with room temperatures of 27 C. Apparently it is in the ' small print '.
Review 19:The swimming pools were excellent.
Review 20:The staff was very nice and the location also: it was quiet, pleasant and very closed to the harbour form were you can get very easy to the 2 islands: Gozo and Comino. Bus station is near the hotel. The rooms are very spacious, clean and comfortable. For me it was the perfect choice.
Review 21:Food, times of restaurant, and wifi I paid €25 but hardly any signal in my room. I requested a double bed but didn't get.
Review 22:Location and staff were good
Review 23:Unfortunately in the building heated pool and other water activities very closed due to renovation. We got view on the seaside however with the view on ferry port which was pretty noise. Overall Hotel is more strong 3 star Hotel.
Review 24:Food at dinner was very tasty. At the place you have easy access to ferry which will take you to Gozo and ships taking you to Comino and diving activities. Bus stop where you can pick a bus and go anywhere within the Island.
Review 25:No safe in the room as described. The shower didn't work properly even when we complained and someone took a look at it. We were put in the old part of the hotel and the rooms are not as good as the rest. Tea and coffee are only left in the room for the first night of the stay - very poor - never known that before.
Review 26:Location, cleanliness of the pool, food very good.
Review 27:The hotel is in urgent need of more refurbishment. The deckchairs in the pool area, the corridors in the South Wing, the bathrooms in the South Wing, ... We chose this hotel specifically for the indoor pool, and this is currently being refurbished so it was inaccessible, and we were not informed about this prior to our visit.
Review 28:Excellent food and very helpful staff. We also loved the outdoor pools, especially the kids pool.
Review 29:Ramps for wheelchairs are a bit steep. Some of the rooms with disabled bathrooms are a long way from the lift - bad planning! Biggest dislike were the Rolf Harris pictures in the rooms and near the hotel shop.
Review 30:I requested a bathroom for a disabled person and we had a disabled persons wet room which was perfect. The rooms are large and comfortable. We were staying at the hotel to attend a family wedding being held on the beach there. The location and food were great and the hotel staff who catered and served at the wedding were brilliant.
Review 31:-old furniture -not worth 4*, max. 3* -at the a la carte restaurant, we waited too long for food, more then 1 hour!
Review 32:- sea view -breakfast -staff -location, private beach, close to ferry to Gozo
Review 33:First of all I booked a double room, but apparently although advertised otherwise this was subject to availability and we got a twin room. Secondly the property is poorly kept. Old and used furniture in the rooms and in the hotel lobby. I wonder how this is a 4 star hotel. Towels and bed sheets were extremely used and poorly washed. Bottom line is that I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
Review 34:Pretty good free wi-fi in the hotel lobby.
Review 35:Overall, this is a three star hotel marketed and sold as four star (see below): - air conditioning in the room was very very noisy and not providing cool enough air, while the celling fan was moving like it was about to fall; AC was either full-blow/hurricane level noise, or off, with nothing in between (very bad for a period with close to 37 degrees Celsius) - double rooms seem to be scarce, being offered a twin one, even if asked for double. - water pressure in the shower was so low, that at moments it was not usable (especially cold water), forcing us to move the after-beach shower sometimes after dinner to avoid the "shower rush hour". - we received initially a room that was looking very bad, and upon request we got moved to a "room like the one we ordered", forcing us to feel cheated up to a point .. - although marked as a 4-star hotel, the breakfast was poor and close to a 3-star level - WiFi was free only in the reception lobby, and was very slow; Paid WiFi had a decent speed on the other hand. - little support from staff in providing information about attractions in the area, forcing us to to all the needed documenting work - this was first hotel where in-advance payment was asked for when checking in, like we were suspects to leave without paying - Only rooms and reception were AC controlled, while other areas were almost tropical at times (wet floors from condensation and very wet air to breath) - Pool showers were in the basement, despite having 4 outdoor pools; In order to shower before pool one needed to make a couple of minutes walk in high sun if using one of the far-from-shower pools
Review 36:- location is really good and offering access to many worth visiting places; - hotel's pool and beach were good, and the diving centre on the private beach was really good (special mention for Pauline, a very good diving instructor) - the hotel employees were helpful when approached, but would have loved a little more pro-active attitude; - buffet dinner was OK considering the asked price of 20 EUR per person (excluding drinks) - in-hotel store proved useful
Review 37:The location is very bad, very far from Malta's center and even if the bus stop is right in front of the hotel it would take you 1.5 hours to travel ~30km by bus. The room was at the last floor and it was very very hot, air conditioning was very noisy and it was not working all the time.
Review 38:1.location- if you want to see something more than just a hotel is far away like 1 hour by bus to valetta or sliema. just one restaurant- if you dont have all inclusive you will be hungry. There is really just hotel nothing else in the area. 2.one day we dont have water under the shower!! 3.air condition works just the first day and no one fix it !! in the room was so hot my friend have to sleep at the terace 4.one day the light doesnt work and we have to wait all day form the morning till 23 pm for somebody to come and fix it and we were at the reception like 4 time before they get some help. 5.room was dirty 6.flush not working like it supose to and we have a very big problem with the toilete.
Review 39:swimming pool, Plenty of sunbeds, breakfast till 10 am, private beach, bus stop in front of the hotel, nice view
Review 40:Incredibly uncomfortable, and felt like a we were staying at a school camp facility. Very cheap, dated and nasty - from the bed, to the limited restaurant options and the food they have, and even the pools.
Review 41:The scuba diving company that work alongside the hotel was fantastic.
Review 42:0 entertainment :(. Past dinner time there is literally nothing to do apart from sit in the oap bar or loiter around the lobby, so plenty of early nights had. The only other thing is avoid a Sunday there if you can. It is open for local families who bring they're children and the peaceful pool turns into a screaming, splashing zone for the kids and a drinking hole for loud locals.
Review 43:The food was amazing! The location was ideal for trips to Comino/Gozo. Pools were great. Mostly very peaceful. Stunning views. Staff were mostly excellent (there's always one or two)
Review 44:Some rooms are very plain and not cleaned to acceptable standards. Towels not replaced in 4 days. Lots of maintenance work going on (Building materials and furniture left in corridors) Lack of choice for evening meal.. No atmosphere. Zero entertainment (except bingo) Area offers no cafes or restaurants (except small kiosk at ferry terminal) Very small beach.
Review 45:Good views from some rooms. Breakfasts were fine. Close proximity to Gozo and Comino ferries (great days out) and adjacent to bus stop.
Review 46:Where to start? I would recomend to avoid this hotel. Worst hotel i ever been in. I dont know how they give it 4 stars, maybe then it was newly built in 1975 it was 4 star, but from then not much changed. Sea view is just view to motorway and ferry, a busy motorway, and busy ferry. Dont expect to relax in balcony, sound from cars is very loud, buses go very often and motorbikes is just horrible. Room itself have old furniture, maybe from 1975... If you booked room in economy-budget room, you will get even worse experience then in some hostels, beds are worse then in my old college dormitory, wardrobe and chairs was horrible i have no words(have pictures), and lets dont forget its 4 star hotel. Tiles in bathroom cracked. Just avoid this hotel, even for half price i paid i wouldnt come back to that hotel, its just horrible. To be fair, the most expensive Bay view rooms in 4th floor can be ok. Just my experience, hope you had\will have better.
Review 47:Ladys who clean room did good job, no complains.
Review 48:Indoor pool so salt almost unusable for doing anything like a serious swim(short dip with head above water only. Chemicals so strong they will immediately tarnish any jewellery you forget to remove, irritates skin & sinuses, tastes disgusting if you get head underwater. Main restaurant menu unimaginative & very mass production.
Review 49:K lounge food & staff excellent even if menu a bit limited. Location great bus services good if very full.
Review 50:Absolutely nothing!!
Review 51:It was excellent, the staff, very clean, parking area, very comfort queen bed, sea view, very large rooms with sofa , desk, coffee and tea making ( we stayed in a junior suite) very large bath, good lightning
Review 52:It's pretty out of the way from the main cities, and a lengthy bus ride to get to them (although the buses are very cheap €1.50 for a day pass). The view if you're on the portside is of the ferry terminal. The listing on booking.com said that in winter if you booked for 3+ nights you would get a free hire car, and this was one of the main reasons we selected this hotel. There were no caveats to this on booking.com. (I even checked the section entitled 'The fine print'.) On asking at reception how we could get our free hire car, we were told that this offer did not apply over the Christmas period, even though it's in winter, and that this was stated on their website. On checking, it was indeed stated on the Paradise Bay website, but obviously, I booked via booking.com, so never visited the Paradise Bay website. Reception staff and car hire staff essentially said it was hard cheese - no free hire car. There was no attempt at a compromise even though I had essentially been mis-sold to. They just suggested I Googled some car hire firms and found myself a hire car that I hadn't budged to have to pay for. Apparently, Paradise Bay Hotel feel they have no responsibility for the information about their hotel and offers shown on booking.com. I wonder where booking.com get the information to put on their website if not from the hotel themselves. And by the way, the hire car isn't free anyway, even when the offer is available - you have to pay for the insurance which is about €12 a day.
Review 53:Very good value for money in terms of a large, comfortable, clean room and extensive buffet breakfast included. Very handy for a day trip to Gozo - a five-minute stroll to the ferry port.
Review 54:Weren't told about extra payment for Christmas Day Lunch although we were all inclusive but didn't get it, although we ate at the other restaurant. Their all inclusive deals leave a lot to be desired.
Review 55:Loved our room, VERY spacious, but would be better with an armchair. Beds very comfortable, bathroom spacious and just refurbished, judging by the quality of sanitary ware. Lovely view.
Review 56:As we were lodged in a junior suite facing Paradise Bay, I was captured by the beautiful view from our balcony and the quiet that surrounded us. We were booked on bed & breakfast and dined at the Island's Edge Restaurant that serves good food and great pizza. Thanks for the warm hospitality, will return.
Review 57:First of all we booked this hotel because they offered free car for the time of staying. When we arrived we were told we need to pay insurance and it was more then asked before then we were told we can book it even tomorrow as we needed time to think and we arrived late. The next day the price was 3 times higher so we refused to book it with them. Next suprise was the room as the fridge was leaking, the towels had holes, the room was extremely dated and the blankets had holes or wear. We could here every nose coming from the room next to us. When we asked the reception to change room we where told that is unreasonable to ask that. If u are in to extremely dated decor and u don't care were to sleep and how to eat this hotel is good for u.
Review 58:To be fare the only good thing was the size of the room and the view.
Review 59:first room was very old with old furniture and bad smell, cleaning personnel was noisy, every morning at 7 they make a lot of noise, water smells bad and was green
Review 60:near to ferry, near to buss stop, food was very good, the indoor pool was good
Review 61:Stayed here 4 times before, but not in this room. It was not comfortable for a wheelchair user as the toilet had to be approached side on and was obstructed with the pull down disabled bar. The other bar was on the wall behind the toilet, so no help whatsoever to get on and off. Also the pull down seat was too high to get on in the shower. Also when we pulled back the curtain there was a wall!. To see the sea view we had to go to the window and look left. Also VERY NOISY, as the door to the corridor next to the room where there was entertainment kept being left open.
Review 62:Good food, and staff, easily accessible (I am wheelchair bound) First time in any room I have had any problems as usually they are excellent. Told them I am coming back at Christmas and do not want to stay in this room.
Review 63:Hotel could do with an upgrade, carpets in corridors, general paintwork, otherwise great.
Review 64:Hotel, proximity to Bus Service, pools facilities. Good bedrooms. Iwould feel very safe travelling throughout Malta.
Review 65:Staff not very helpful. Bedrooms (in modern section) very dated still. Food very disappointing in restaurants. Breakfast very limited and standard poor.
Review 66:Pool area excellent.
Review 67:as in the hotel description first time bar was free but it was empty, the room was not always completely cleaned, the iron is not working in the room
Review 68:good food, free wifi in lobby, nice view.
Review 69:Lack of management making unhappy and incompetent staff and disappointed customers. Staff needs urgent customer service training. It was probably at one point an excellent hotel but now it needs urgent refurbishment. What you see on the Internet site is far away from the reality. Four stars is a mistake. Be prepared to pay extra for the safe and Internet. Reception desk will not make your stay easy. You are just a number in touristic machine.
Review 70:Location close to Gozo ferry. View from the room. Close to the diving center.
Review 71:- Room was way to small and expensive to sell it as a "junior suite" - you have to pay for every little extra bit - Wi-Fi in your room and it was not even stable - the safe in the room is also only usable if you pay. Considering the price for this junior suite this is no good - you can not write something you 2 ant to eat on to your rooms bill for check out. Only cash
Review 72:- the pools were great and clean - the view out of the balcony if you have a Seaview one is beautiful
Review 73:Being presented with the bill and expected to pay as soon as I stepped into the hotel. This was the only such experience which I have encountered in my decades of travelling around the world. Having booked a room with a double bed and finding out that it had two single beds. The receptionist informed me, that my was only a request and that it was up to the Management to accede to my request. Having informed them that my family was lactose intolerant and that we required soya milk at breakfast. None was made available. On the day of the departure, the cleaning staff knocked four times to clean the room prior to 11 a.m. On the first night we went down to the restaurant to eat. At 9.30 p.m. sharp we were presented with the bill and told that they were shutting down, despite their having served us our food a few minutes previously. The staff were rough as far as far their manners are concerned.
Review 74:The pool. It was lovely in the evening when there were hardly any people using it. Otherwise it was always full with very little possibility of having a decent swim.
Review 75:Staff attitude/disorganisation Bland, repetitive menu Charge for wi-fi in rooms Beach towels need renewing - very worn
Review 76:Proximity to beach/dive school Large Rooms
Review 77:Carpeting in the hallways, strange odor. Hard beds. Expensive wifi in the rooms. Worn sunbeds.
Review 78:State, the view from the upper pool. Helpful cleaning staff. The view from the room with bay view. Bus stop outside the hotel. The Island's Edge Bistro, friendly staff and good food.
Review 79:don´t go in room 335, it´s very noisy as it is located close to the terasse and the people are sitting and talking in the night. So it´s very noisy! The people at the reception desk have no idea about how to welcome guests or to provide average service!
Review 80:the possibility to enter the sea, very nice place!
Review 81:Rude receptionists - Maltese people are not allowed to make use of hotel facilities before check in, while foreigners are. Dirty linen in hotel room - pillow cases were smudged with black marks. TV not working - spoke to receptionist and someone was meant to come and fix it - but no one ever did. Chamber maids come in room unannounced, even though the do not disturb sign was switched on. Smelly carpet outside room. WIFI not free.
Review 82:Location Pool Breakfast
Review 83:Staff, air condition system, baby bed it's like a jail room. Breakfast not good selection, deck chairs full as there were many 1day stay at the pool. No assistance in the pool.
Review 84:Staff lack customer service skill and hardly smile.Anything they do is like a favour. The hotel's income is through tourists and should be provided with good customer service and treated well.
Review 85:The room was clean and big. Good facilites and breakfast was good.
Review 86:Not enough entertainment. Also when we were going to check out, other hotels that we visited normally they let you to use the pool facilities without any extra credit for the last day and for some unknown reasons this hotel will charge you extra money.
Review 87:The room was excellent. The staff was also great. You have a variety of pools to choose from. Restaurants and food are also amazing.
Review 88:the staff at the reception where very bad.the room was not very clean.some of the tiles by the pool is very dangerous and some old cigarettes never cleaned up. the bed was not comfortable.
Review 89:the breakfast and dinner where good
Review 90:Restaurant dinner menu quite limited Only given one small pillow Lots of traffic nearby because of Gozo ferry
Review 91:Nice view Friendly, helpful staff Convenient location Clean Pool/beach not too crowded
Review 92:Bar staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. Male reception staff members were unfriendly and unhelpful also . Cleaning staff poor job of cleaning room.
Review 93:Great quiet location . Booked junior suite Easy access to busses
Review 94:Poor service / rude staff Poor breakfast Basic features and amenities Unclean floors (shabby corridor carpet)
Review 95:Location - it's close to Comino Island (the most popular beach)
Review 96:The salt water pool was really disappointing we all found the salt in our eyes a real problem. Service at the Café area downstairs was really slow 40 minutes just for some chips and we had to remind staff about our order. Staff were not customer focused at all. At breakfast in the restaurant nobody greeted us or said good morning we were not told to help ourselves or what table to sit at. Reception did not ask if our room was OK or if we enjoyed our stay? I would have told them infact the the fridge leaked, balcony door did not lock and your staff need training in customer service.
Review 97:Our room was spacious, clean and over looked the sea and pool area.
Review 98:- Beach (not good at all). - Breackfast. - The water of the pools is sea water (very salt). - The lift. - TV (very very small) - Fridge.
Review 99:- Views. - Staff. - morning practise staff. - position of the resort. - swiming at the sea which's in the hotel (amazing). - Chairs and sun umbrella.
Review 100:no tea of coffee making facilities in my room. Not good for a hotel of this otherwise good standard.
Review 101:everything
Review 102:The price of the drinks in the bar
Review 103:Nicely appointed large room
Review 104:In the 3 night stay I had 3 bedrooms. Twice moved because the rooms were noisy
Review 105:Excellent food
Review 106:Old mattresses and bed as shown in picture.
Review 107:There is no entertainment or activities at the hotel during the day only singers in the evening.
Review 108:the indoor pool was great, quite big.
Review 109:I loved the food, and i liked the room with a sea view
Review 110:Friendly staff, spacious rooms with views, good food and all facilities.
Review 111:Very friendly, helpful staff. Great location for Ferry to Gozo.
Review 112:TV bit outdated channels not clear !
Review 113:Close to Gozo ferry/warm inside pool/spacious
Review 114:Fantastic food, great swimming pool, quiet location far from madness of Sliema and Valetta.
Review 115:I find any at room.. And many another animals
Review 116:Non
Review 117:Indoor swimming pool
Review 118:Smell in room, stuff took dirty towels And didnt give clean ones, service didnt refill coffee as its complimentary
Review 119:Salted swimmingpool And view
Review 120:Paid Wifi for room, some lack of the cleanness and refurbishment
Review 121:Spacious room, one double bed, quite bay view
Review 122:indoor pool was a little bit dirty
Review 123:big and clean room with good facilities, nice view, good breakfast
Review 124:common facilities looks old
Review 125:our room was renewed
Review 126:shower is bad, bathroom stinks, electricity was bad (switches)
Review 127:location

Review 129:Good location,good breakfast,fridge in the room!
Review 130:Facilities must be updated
Review 131:I enjoyed view from my balcony and swimming in the sea.. Very very clean sea .. And very friendly staff
Review 132:very far out. The beach is tiny.
Review 133:big pool, friendly staff.
Review 134:Basic standard of room. Shower poor & bed uncomfortable.
Review 135:The position is ideal to catch ferry to Gozo and for buses.
Review 136:Corridors were cold and draughty Nowhere to sit quietly. Musak and Tv everywhere
Review 137:I like this hotel, for the view, for his name ( Paradise )!
