Reviews for Pasanggrahan Boutique Hotel

Review 1:Bathroom needs updating and maybe redesign as it is very tight. Door did'nt closed right, tile looked dirty.

Review 2:Spacious room and clean.Bed comfortable.

Review 3:The bathrooms are in bad need of remodeling/refurbishment. The bathroom door drug badly and barely closed. There was instant coffee and mugs in the room but no way to heat water. There was no hair dryer, no bottled water.

Review 4:The location is excellent and the staff was friendly

Review 5:The rate available online was over $200. We booked, and when we arrived online, there were rooms available for $120. The person who checked us in noted that we received a "free" upgrade, but if their regular room rate is $120 and we were charged over $200, it didn't seem like a "free" upgrade at all. That said, we did feel the price was fair for the room and amenities provided.

Review 6:The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the view of the beach from the room's balcony was lovely. Breakfast (though not included) was quite good. Fresh squeezed orange juice under an orange tree with a breeze off the ocean. What could be a better start to an island vacation? Hotel staff were very helpful in helping obtain transportation to view local attractions, and to transfer to our cruise ship.

Review 7:It's an old hotel so the bathrooms need updating but they are functional.

Review 8:Very clean, great staff, very quiet. Perfect location for shopping or just relaxing on the beach. not far from the airport. They had a security person that was walking around and observing the property all day and night. Beach towels and chairs were provided. My room was on the ground level and about 10 feet from the boardwalk and the beach.

Review 9:We were a little far from most of the attractions on the island, so we took a lot of taxis, which can add up in price.

Review 10:The staff were very friendly and helpful. They made arrangements for all our travels via taxi. The bed was very comfy and the room was clean.

Review 11:This is an old-fashioned colonial house, quirky, nothing slick, not for those who want the international modern hotel style. The staff was especially gracious and knowledgible. Our room at the basic price level was roomy, clean, and comfortable. It was lovely having meals on the terrace overlooking the crescent beach in Phillipsburg. We were able to swim and enjoy the beach while being right in town. This historic hotel is one of a kind, not the chain experience, but we loved it.

Review 12:Whole property requires refreshing; needs maintenance; tired looking. Loss of power on Sunday was a planned black out but staff did not notify us; generator not working. Some towels were threadbare & frayed. Dining area not very elegant - did not match ambiance of hotel.

Review 13:Location; friendly & helpful staff. Old World Ambiance (what little there was). Spacious room. Comfortable bed.

Review 14:I stayed in the old section the room showed its age, but it was clean and comfortable.

Review 15:staff was extremely helpful anything you asked for they took care of. when I checked in the cable was not performing correctly and the clerk that showed me the room had someone start working on it immediately even though I told her not to worry as i probably would never turn it on. the property was near everything.

Review 16:I had to come by here since I was in country the day before to confirmthings because I was told about the renovation and the slow low seasonmentality. I was really glad I did cause the room I had reserved was notavailable and they had me downgraded to a motel style room. When Iexplained to the lady at reception about the room I had booked she toldme that she was sorry my room wasn't available because of renovationto one of the wings of the hotel. She realized that there had been amistake in the room they had me booked for and she immediately upgradedto a suite with balcony and ocean-view , living room seating area, largeplasma tv and queen-sized bed with draps. I was very happy with theprofessionalism of the hotel staff, the comfort of my room (great ac),the water-pressure and tub; the High-Speed WiFi, and location above ofall things because I was able to get up in the morning and enjoy FrontStreet and the Boardwalk without using a taxi. I had access to the beachif I wanted to use it and a choice of any restaurant I wanted with anytype of food I wanted within the vicinity of this hotel. I wouldrecommend they get better furniture for the seating area unless theyjust really need to preserve that antique feel.

Review 17:No restaurant in hotel. No reasonable breakfast restaurant in Philipsburg if cruise ship is not in port.

Review 18:Convenient to Philipsburg shopping and restaurants. On the beach.

Review 19:I didn't like the fact that the bathroom was not cleaned everyday, especially around the toilet and behind it. They also need an exterminator to come more often. 2 days before parting from the hotel I saw 2 baby roaches in the bathroom. The hotel could use a lot of repairs. Appearance means everything. Other then that I enjoyed my stay and the staff was very friendly and professional.

Review 20:I like the fact that the hotel was facing the beach. That's a beautiful view to wake up to in the morning and the staff was awesome. Very professional and courteous. I also like that there are many amenities and there's a variety of different things to do. Not too bad for a historic landmark!!

Review 21:location is perfect for Phillipsburg!! parking is onsite. 4th stay here..we have been coming to St Martin for 12 year and come 3 times a year....trust me this is one of the best here in Phillipsburg

Review 22:If you want resort glam and amenities, pick a resort. If you want to sleep where the queen did, and to see the beach walk from your private porch, choose the Pasanggrahan! Eat breakfast (or lunch, or dinner) on the sand on the beachfront.

Review 23:The chance to be on Great Bay at prices below the average hotel back home was amazing. The bed was comfortable, the room and bath were very clean. The porch was amazing, our Caribbean dream location.

Review 24:Could be maintained a little better. There are some crumbling walls. Areas could be repainted. There are some parts of the inn that just seem to be neglected.

Review 25:Charm of old St. Maarten.

Review 26:For starters ,when we got to the hotel the receptionist whose name isCarol was quite rude and this didn't change during our entire stay. She barely made any eye contact when we walked through the receptionarea to go to our room. She didn't look up to greet her guests. This indignant attitude was also exhibited by the night staff, thehostess for the restaurant, the security guy including the house keeperwho when we politely asked if she could come back in 30 minutes toclean she said " i'll see" now of all the people weinteracted with during our stay, Byron, (who I think it's agroundskeeper) was very personable and helpful. Overall, this left asour taste in my mouth . So while the Ilocation was decent the staffawful, the room was alright on a couple of days the towels were veryworn and a couple were torn took pictures

Review 27:I cant think of anything really! Maybe the proximity to the beach???

Review 28:it wasn't bad, but there was a festival somewhere out side and the music was pretty loud until about 230am. It might have been nicer if they changed the beat from time to time because it sounded like the song over and over

Review 29:The location and beach access was great

Review 30:I liked the history associated with the hotel, the charm of its design, and the central location to the beach and shops. Staff members were very responsive to requests and, as a single traveler, I felt safe while I was there. I can't wait to go back and stay longer the next time to take advantage of their summer specials!

Review 31:Amazingly friendly and hospitable staff, they were amazing with our pets and were incredibly helpful. Fantastic location and unlike the ritzier places it has a beautiful old fashioned charm that you cannot beat!

Review 32:Philipsburg is closed after 6pm.

Review 33:Just fantastic service. Great employees, service minded and very nice. Always a smile and helpful. The hotel is typical Caribbean style, great location at the beach and close to everything.

Review 34:Didn't like how my room didn't have WiFi (I was the last room on the edge of the hotel, so I suppose the WiFi connection didn't cover there).

Review 35:Liked how the hotel is literally across the sidewalk from the beach and the Boardwalk, where there are lots of restaurants and shops.

Review 36:The staff were all outstanding! friendly, helpful and pleasant; the food was excellent. the rooms, are comfortable, and clean, parking on site, great central location, on the beach, boardwalk and downtown.

Review 37:We had no bad experiences.

Review 38:Sint Maarten / Saint Martin is very easy to get around with a car, and our home base was a lovely home base in downtown Philippsburg. Pasanggrahan is an older well maintained lovely space.

Review 39:Everyone, from Colbert, the manager, our maid Bebe, to all the waitresses were very nice. They could not do enough for us. Food is excellent! Location, the same.

Review 40:Might as well not have plugged in the archaic TV or fridge, but that's not why we're here.

Review 41:Loved the location and ambience of the hotel (old side), loved Janet at the outdoor bar for happy hour, great Indian food right across Front St.

Review 42:The food was very good. We were allowed to store our luggage for a few hours after check-out and while we visited with friends before they flew home they also stored their luggage and even called a taxi for them.

Review 43:Have to pay for your coffee in your room each day $3.00. Bought our own from the grocery store so that worked but $3 for Maxwell house small bag of coffee is a bit much.

Review 44:Location is excellent - Janet the bartender outside is great.

Review 45:Rooms are out dated, little hassle with gate, coming in and out of hotel I had to go in lobby so they could open gate then park my car.

Review 46:I loved location, good restaurants,

Review 47:For the price, I was expecting more room amenities. Such as coffee included in the morning not 3.00 a pack. Room had peeling paint.

Review 48:The location was phenomenal! Stayed in the older side of hotel. Room was comfortable but basic. Food was delicious but pricey. Service from restaurant staff was wonderful.

Review 49:The police close the road for shoppers until various hours in the evening. If you have a rental car, you cannot return to the hotel's parking lot until the road is reopened. This was after 8 PM on Christmas eve and between 5-6 PM on regular nights. One day the cleaning service left our hotel room unlocked when they left. Amazing that our room wasn't cleaned out. Take your own pillow. Ours were as flat as a pancake. TV was about a 20" CRT from the 90s. No counter space on the pedestal sink. Hot water was only lukewarm at peak shower times. Orient and Mullet Bay are better beaches. Next time I would stay at the Sonesta near Mullet Bay / airport if the price is comparable.

Review 50:Staff is friendly. Good choice if all you want to do is tourist shopping.

Review 51:The only thing deluxe about the room was the name. Bathroom basic and not very clean. Bedroom adequate but safe did not work and no hairdryer. Whole place was 'faded glory'. Very expensive for the amenities on hand.

Review 52:Great position. Friendly helpful staff. Good breakfast. Excellent wifi

Review 53:took two calls to reception and hubby`s talent to repair stuff to initiate the room safe

Review 54:location direct on the beach, easy to reach ferry to St.Barth, good value in low season (free uppgrade to suite)

Review 55:The restaurant was closed for season. Instead of breakfast I got an upgrade. I didn't mind, there was an ok breakfast place nearby.

Review 56:The classy rustic feeling. I got an upgrade to a suite and that was perfect. Excellent location next to the beach and the main shopping street.

Review 57:Restaurant was closed for refurbishment.

Review 58:Staffs are very friendly and helpful, the room is clean and spacious enough, beach is just in front of the hotel, free parking is provided for hotel guest. I'm sure I will stay this hotel when I visit the island next time.

Review 59:No water to drink in the room and NO blow dryer for hair

Review 60:the close proximity to the boat

Review 61:Nothing.

Review 62:We stayed in a speciality room located in the older building and it was a great room to stay in. All the staff were helpful and friendly.

Review 63:Location is great. Helpful, courteous and genuinely friendly staff.

Review 64:Great location and the staff could not have been nicer.

Review 72:Very friendly hotel lovely staff

Review 73:Terrible noise at night. they say it is from parking garage in basement.

Review 74:Location. View of terrace/ restaurant over beach

Review 75:Restaurant closed for lunch and dinner

Review 76:Location on beach and boardwalk and main shopping Street on the other side

Review 77:Location was great staff excelent. Low season so very quiet good place to relax

Review 78:Friendliness of staff. Sea-view veranda. On the beach. Near to everything.

Review 79:No WiFi in rooms.

Review 80:Staff not particularly welcoming. Bed sheets may not have been changed. There was sand in the sheets.

Review 90:Location

Review 91:Location was spot on. Food in restaurant was the best around. All of the staff were the absolute best - very friendly and helpful in every way.

Review 92:No telephone working in room. Could not call front desk for a question.

Review 93:Wifi in the room was a bit spotty. Wifi worked well in garden and restaurant area.

Review 94:The view from the room balcony was fantastic.

Review 104:Restaurant was closed.

Review 105:Spacious room and attentive staff

Review 106:This boutique was the perfect location for a gorgeous beach view, shopping, and all the restaurants you could want. We were very impressed by the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. We would definitely stay here in the future!

Review 107:Bathroom was Carib clean also had very bad smell. Took full day to air it out and had to cover tub and sink drain to keep smell away.

Review 108:AC very quite, bed comfy. Terrece good size. View blocked by trees. Hotel Resturant better then expected. I would stay here again.

Review 109:The TV set was kind of outdated.

Review 110:The location of the hotel was wonderful. It was around shops, restaurants and overlooked the ocean. The rooms were very roomy and beautifully decorated.

Review 111:The stairs to the speciality rooms was a bit much for me and my husband. One should be made aware that speciality rooms are located in the older section of the hotel and that you must climb 3 flight of stairs to get to the room. The bar was never opened late and closed most days by 3 pm. There was no hot water in the shower for the 3 days we were there

Review 112:The size of the room and the view was excellent. the beach chairs and umbrellas at the baech The restaurant for dinner the food and the service was excellent Breakfast is also good too The free wifi was very good through out the hotel They also provide a nice beach towel for the beach

Review 113:No complaints - really.

Review 114:Great location, right on the beach and a few off street parking spaces right at the hotel which is pretty rare in Phillipsburg.
