Reviews for Miyajima Grand Hotel Arimoto
Review 1:Would have been nice to have had the food served in our room. --But they had our name out on the card entry to dining room and the food and service were excellent.
Review 2:Food was wonderful---everything lovely.
Review 3:This is an awesome hotel. It's located just a few minutes away from Itsukushima Shrine and the Famous Itsukushima Torii. We stayed in a Japanese- style room and it was excellent. The dinners are wonderful and when you get back to your room the futon bedding is laid out for you. The staff is friendly and always willing to assist you. There is a shuttle that you can use to go from the ferry terminal to the hotel.
Review 4:Night tour only in Japanese. If possible, please print some handbook with introduction in English for foreign guests.
Review 5:Free shuttle bus from/to port. Nice view, especially when you stay on the top floor. Friendly Game machine, much easier to catch toy. Wonderful location.
Review 6:Outdoor hot spring is a little bit smaller.
Review 7:Very nice staff (especially the sweet Chinese girl), feel warm when the shuttle bus driver wait for us at pier for check-in! Super great & delicious dinner!
Review 8:Wasn't so keen on the Japanese style breakfast but this isn't really a complaint, just a comment
Review 9:Combination of Japanese and English styles in rooms made for comfortable and memorable stay. Providing us with traditional Japanese clothes to wear was an especially nice touch. Japanese meal we had was also spectacular (pace yourself, it's a lot of food). Also Miyajima is great - we walked to top of mountain and back (~4 hours) and on rainy day also went to the small but interesting aquarium (~2 hours)
Review 10:We requested for a double bed but ended up with a twin bed although the twin bed was big enough for the two of us.
Review 11:The service of the staff is really good. They are friendly. The room was very clean and beautiful. The room has a good view too!
Review 12:We had a non smoking room, but there was a heavy smell of old smoke in the room. I woke up because of the bad smell during the night. Horrobile music (some kind of nervous experimental piano concert) playing both during dinner and breakfast. After I requested to change during dinner, the staff immediately followed up. Unfortunately the same tunes were back at breakfast.
Review 13:Excellent location, beautiful layout of the rooms (both tatami and western style in one room) and splendid food, Michelin star level I would say.
Review 14:Minor maintenance is required in curtains of the bedroom
Review 15:Location. Shuttle picks you up at the ferry station. Bedroom is great, has a couple of nice beds and a traditional japanese living room with tatami to have tea. Great Onsen (termal bath) open 24 hours. Breakfast, dinner and lunch served at your request special for you in nice rooms.
Review 16:Hotel has no sign in English so we walked past it at least 3 times . Made it hard to find
Review 17:Room was terrific . Dinner was an event .wifi strong . Good hotel to stay at if staying on the island
Review 18:This place is getting old and it's showing. The concrete building itself is lacks the charms other Ryokans have. I find it difficult to even call this a Ryokan. Yes, the room had a Japanese part with tatami mats. But it seemed out of place like it was installed afterwards. We didn't have any views and there was a kitchen right across our room, which was very noisy. After reading all the positive reviews, we were really looking forward to our stay at Arimoto. Unfortunately, and especially considering the very high price, we left underwhelmed and cannot recommend this place. You can easily explore Miyajima as a day trip from Hiroshima. Save your money and stay in Hiroshima instead.
Review 19:The staff was nice and helpful. However, this should be expected in any hotel in Japan. The food was very good.
Review 20:No clear instuction or English map to access the hotel though they picked us up from the pier. The entrance to hotel is hard to find and there are many steps up which is difficult for older people Badly need good English speaking staff The one they have now don't know how to use polite language to customers it sounded very harsh. Booking did not specify if the room is seaview which may be booking.com's problem After all we paid this high price to see sunset sunrise from the room but got a back room of the hotel instead not a seaview Booking.com needs to specify this in the site so the customer knows what they are paying for In conclusion the experience here was not impressive and not worth recommending to others to pay such a price for not up to standard service
Review 21:Nothing impressive Not commensurate with the price
Review 22:Expensive.
Review 23:Very nice staff (especially Yamamoto who gave us personal treatment)
Review 24:I appreciated the fact that they picked us up and dropped us off at the station.
Review 25:Nothing
Review 26:The excellent English and quality of service from the assigned staff member
Review 27:Excellent staff especially This guy called Hosaka.
Review 28:it is very expensive
Review 29:Our room, the restaurant and the service in this hotel were excellent indeed.
Review 30:Everything! Very nice hotel and excellent room, excellent service and the diner was delicious!
Review 31:Our very large room had a picture-perfect view of the famous torii standing in the water.
Review 32:too short stay
Review 33:Staff, traditional rooms, transfer from ferry
Review 34:A little costly.
Review 35:Service is almost perfect. You could see the beautiful shrine gate at your room. The room can fit four guests easily. I shared the room with one friend. The bath is nice.
Review 36:The bathroom and shower area were dark and should be modernized.
Review 37:The charming traditional hotel is very well located in walking distance from all the main attractions. We reserved the full Japanese experience which included a Japanese style room and Japanese dinner and breakfast. We were not disappointed. It was a truly memorable experience. The room was large and nicely decorated. We were welcomed with a table laid with traditional tea items. The futons were laid out while we had dinner in a private dining room. All the dishes in the beautifully presented and gourmet standard meals were explained to us in a very pleasant and caring manner.
Review 38:If you want the best of the best, you have to pay for it!
Review 39:Everything was perfect. Outstanding kaiseki meal and breakfast. Wonderful room with sight on Itsukushima Shrine. Two bathrooms with one private outdoor onsen. Spacious rooms. Friendly staff. Perfect location on Miyajima (centered on the island). This is the best of the best!
Review 40:very good Service and hospitality excellent dinner a wholesome pleasure
