Reviews for Kurayado Iroha
Review 1:Amazing staff and rooms. Staff went out of their way to help us. First onsen experience was fantastic - I was the only one there with a fabulous view of the Torii gate. We also had the 10 course Kaiseki dinner at the Ryokan and some tried some very new and interesting seafood. Will recommend to anyone going to Japan as a must visit! Thank you for our wonderful stay - it was a highlight of our trip.
Review 2:Everything was great
Review 3:Great personal, they tried their most for making our stay confortable, got Yukata for my three kids and great service. We even forgot our raincoats and they sent them to us without charges.
Review 4:Nothing really.
Review 5:We stayed in a western bedroom (even though we had asked foir a Japanese style - but they gave us a bigger room). Room was really big and confortamble, and very clean. Staff were very nice and helpful. Japanese breakfast was really good!
Review 6:Our experience here was the highlight of our three weeks in Japan. A beautiful ryokan in a special setting and we had a sumptuous evening meal. Our hosts were extremely friendly and attentive; we would definitely stay there again.
Review 7:Japanese breakfast is probably an acquired taste. If I could do it all over again, I'd probably opt for the Western breakfast.
Review 8:Very efficient and friendly service. Good facilities. Good room. The Japanese breakfast was decent, not Kurayado's fault really, but really not to my taste. Very good location.
Review 9:Price Value ratio maybe not 100% good. It's not a real Onsen in my opinion - rather a rooftop whirlpool without bubbles.
Review 10:Clean, comfy place. The personnel is just amazing!! Diner is brilliant - taste and for your eye.
Review 11:Would have been nicer to have a view over the bay than the street but next time we'll make sure to book that!
Review 12:Amazing experience. Staff are incredibly helpful and really go out of their way. The rooms are beautiful and really comfortable
Review 13:The onsen was ok. I expected it to be larger. Kind of expensive as compared to a couple of the other places on the island.
Review 14:Fantastic location Great food Attentive staff large room I was traveling with a buddy after 4 long nights in Tokyo, and this Ryokan was exactly what we needed. Perfectly situated for hiking Mt. Misen, exploring "town", the Gate, Shrine, temples, etc., and relaxation. Did I mention our pub crawl in Yukatas?
Review 15:Fabulous. Great location. Staff incredibly helpful and friendly. Japanese style room with tatami mats, paper sliding screens and futons was great. Dinner absolutely amazing. Loved everything about this place - just sorry our itinerary only gave us one night here. If you are going to Miyajima then stay here - you won't regret it.
Review 16:We loved this hotel. An oasis of calm on a very beautiful island. Great location. The outdoor bathing pool overlooking the shrine was a highlight. Lovely clean comfortable room. Staff were incredibly helpful and eager to make us feel welcome.
Review 17:Pricey ryokan style hotel, paid the location but too much for what we got Got a lift from ferry on arrival, not available on departure (why?) The rooftop onsen is not a real onsen..., and small Tiny TV in room, the smallest we had in Japan in 3 weeks in 3,4,5 star hotels
Review 18:The staff's hospitality The location The scenery Wifi in bedrooms
Review 19:The pillows may not be to Westerners liking - the 'rice' at the base of them was a little uncomfortable.
Review 20:The Island itself is simply magical, Kurayado Iroha was the perfect place to stay in such a special destination.
Review 21:Absolutely nothing !
Review 22:Myajima is a very beautifull Island. The hotel / ryokan is very well located, clean and tidy and very peacefull. It has stunning see views. The public bath on the roof was a great experience. The staff is very helpfull. Diner was delicious. We really had a wonderfull time !
Review 23:Wish the check in time was a little longer (only 4-7).
Review 24:Service was excellent. We were taken care of every time we walked through the door and everything was perfect. Included breakfast was also exceptional.
Review 25:Minor points, and probably normal, but ... when the table was removed to make room for the futons that were laid out for sleeping, the table was laid on its side in the alcove where it blocked the refrigerator.
Review 26:Toshie, Maki, and all of the staff were fantastic. Always smiling and super helpful. They went out of their way to help us ship our luggage ahead to a "Black Cat" (Yomata) in Tokyo. Greatly appreciated. The Japanese breakfast was wonderful and the public bath was nice because it has a view of the Tori Gate (peek view from the men's side). Recommend.
Review 27:Very clean and confortable! Service was impeccable and always with a big smile! We got the market facing room and after 6 pm it is eerily quiet. Although most everything closes at 5/6 pm, strolling in the waterfront at night is incredible. The ion and outdoor baths were superb with a great view.
Review 28:Surprisingly, nothing! It was wonderful in every way.
Review 29:A very personal experience, the staff went out of their way to make everything amazing. Their attention to detail was incredible! I have stayed in many ryokans, big and small, and this was by far the most customized and personal experience I've had. The ryokan is elegant, clean and modern. The onsen is small (in a good way) and exquisite. The food is a more modern take on a traditional kaiseki course dinner; still very Japanese, but something a little different and unique. The view and surrounding streets are beautiful. Kurayado Iroha is a ten out of ten experience, and I dont say that lightly.
Review 30:Hotel picked us up from the ferry; great location close to the ferry and good walk to the Torii; fantastic breakfast. Staff extremely friendly and gave us the tide times as well. Was wonderful to be there in the evening without too many day visitors.
Review 31:It would help if the bedding was removed the next morning as there was no room to walk around the room. We stacked the bedding which helped a little.
Review 32:Good budget room in this ryokan which had a large room for 4 adults with futons, small bathroom, refrigerator and separate room with 3 chairs. 2nd floor room view of street shops. Easy access to all tourist activities. An enjoyable Japanese breakfast was a highlight of this hotel. Hotel is behind/through another building, ask locals for directions if not sure of location. JR Rail pass allowed use of the ferry which runs every 15 minutes to and from the Island.
Review 33:The staff were exceptional, and the room was wonderful , unfortunately we didn't specify so didn't get a room with a water view, (not the end of the world, great anyway) if ya have a spare buck , stay here, again the front desk staff are now friends.
Review 34:The attitude of the owner. The hotel was literally empty while others were full; however the owner did not allowed us to make a late check out. We also called and asked if we could make an earlier check in and the answer was no. She wanted to charge us for a late check out. We asked her for a ride since it was pouring. ßhe said she had no driver until 1 pm. Happyly a nice employee said yes and the drive came from behind and took us to the ferry. The food is not incredible even though is nicely presented. Also because it is on the main road is a bit too noisy.
Review 35:The room and the onsen
Review 36:a bit pricey for the hotel but we didn't mind just to experience the place. the view from the room and the hotel staff makes up for the price.
Review 37:The hotel was beautiful. Conveniently in Omotesando Shopping Archade and only a 5-7 minute walk to the famous Miyajima torii (gate). The staff was wonderful and caring of our needs. They greeted us every time we entered/exited the hotel and even talked story with us during dinner and breakfast. They also served us green tea on both afternoons that we were there. It was an amazing experience and a awesome hotel. Although the outdoor, rooftop bath was small, it had a relaxing view and i went after dinner so there was no one else in the bath which was great. Definitely go in the milky indoor bath... it makes your skin smooth!!!
Review 38:This accommodation is very expensive so one wouldn't expect to have children running around during dinner. We also had a baby crying on & off in the room next door during the night. I would recommend that the owners consider making this an adult only accommodation. The music playing at dinner was one country and western song on rotation. What about some beautiful Japanese lute music!
Review 39:Beautiful room and food. Wonderful outdoor onsens with view over the water.
Review 40:Nothing. We had a very relaxing 1 night stay.
Review 41:Very attentive and friendly staff. Great onsen - best view on the tori gate while relaxing after long hike. Excellent Kaiseki dinner.
Review 42:Western breakfast was awful Wifi was inconsistent All in all, it was not value for money and we wouldn't recommend staying there
Review 43:Location was great Staff were friendly Onsen's were nice
Review 44:Nothing!
Review 45:Best staff ever. The room was really good for the 4 of us. The one thing to do is to try the outside public bath with the view, just incredible. Would go to the same place if I had to go to Miyajima again.
Review 46:The sea-facing room I stayed in was huge, with four separate areas (window-side western-style sitting area, Japanese-style sitting area, bed area, and en-suite area). It was very clean and comfortable and the view of Itsukushima shrine was excellent. The room had some great tea and expresso coffee to enjoy while admiring the view. Both the evening meal and breakfast were delicious. The staff were very courteous and helpful. Although the one night was a lot of money in absolute terms, the hotel definitely justified the price. Guidebooks often seem to say that you should stay overnight in such-and-such a place to get a better feel for it when the crowds have gone. Sometimes it seems more true than others but Miyajima is definitely one place to stay if you can. It has a completely different feel when strolling along the seafront in a cool late evening, when the deer outnumber the people.
Review 47:they should provide butter for breakfast instead of olive oil the wifi should be more user friendly, i.e. one SSID and one password for the whole facilities
Review 48:the ambience, the food, the hot tub on the rooftop
Review 49:Not fussed about futons, but that's part of the Ryokan deal. Really, it was just perfect.
Review 50:The staff were superb, it was well located on the Main Street a short walk from the ferry terminal, a gorgeous roof top spa overlooking the ocean and Otorii and the most magnificent breakfast. This is an expensive stay, but is a real luxury.
Review 51:The food was incredible, the staff went out of their way to be welcoming, the room was perfect and the attention to detail generally speaking was impressive! Loved it!
Review 52:Dinning there.. Not really like all dishes of the kaiseki dinner.. But it was personnel preference.. Presentation of the food was great, alot of effort, i suppose..
Review 53:The location, cleanliness
Review 54:Wifi was available only inside our room
Review 55:Tatami room Very good staff Really nice public baths Efficient and fast check-in/check-out One of the staff that accompanied us to our room didn't had a good english, but was trying really hard.
Review 56:It's a little bit pricy.
Review 57:- Very welcoming, helpful and warm staff. - The hotel design is outstanding. - The outdoor bath with the view is amazing. - The room is very well-designed. - The service was outstanding.
Review 58:The hard pillows would be my only criticism...sorry :-(
Review 59:Everything about this wonderful establishment is geared to ensuring guest comfort and stress free enjoyment. The management and staff are kindness itself and nothing is too much trouble, For me the only downside was the very hard pillows which seem to be the norm wherever we stayed in Japan. Congratulations and thank you for a wonderful experience of Japanese hospitality...Superb..
Review 60:The western style breakfast was disappointing, even though we booked this option in advance.
Review 61:Perfect location to experience a traditional Japanese hotel on this beautiful island. Fantastic multi-course dinner served.
Review 62:The staff took excellent care of us. They were very helpful and very friendly. They made us feel welcome there. Japanese breakfast was delicious. Will definitely stay there again.
Review 63:It's expensive, but you can definitely see where the money goes.
Review 64:Staff were friendly, attentive and professional. Personal service. Location was convenient and close to the port, as well as to Itsukushima. Food was amazing, especially the kaiseki dinner. Also received green tea and a sweet Miyajima/Hiroshima specialty on arrival. Public baths on the roof with a view of Itsukushima at night. Ridiculously decadent and luxurious. Combs and luxury soaps and shampoos etc provided (on the ladies' side anyway). Downstairs gift shop with tasteful wares.
Review 65:Everything was perfect.
Review 66:Everything was perfect during our stay at Kurayado Iroha: staff was very nice, willing to help customers in every way. Room was traditional Japanese style, very big with a space where you can relax and enjoy some green tea. The open-air onsen at the last floor was amazing, a wonderful experience. Breakfast was served in a room with a view on the sea, and was incredible.
Review 67:The kaiseki dining was also of the highest quality, but we felt the chef had been at times a little over cautious with the seasoning.
Review 68:Kurayado Iroha combines all that is admirable in the Japanese aesthetic with a modern approach. Our sea-view room was high spec. The quality of service throughout is in the highest Japanese tradition. This all comes at a price, but it is worth it.
Review 69:Be sure to look for the entrance to the lobby on the shopping street - there is no entrance on the pedestrian-only boulevard.
Review 70:Service was absolutely wonderful, we felt welcome from the moment we set foot inside this ryokan. Even the budget mountain view (shopping street view) room was spacious, immaculately clean and comfortable. Staff went above and beyond to make our stay as hassle-free and comfortable as possible, showing Japanese hospitality and extreme politeness. Breakfast (Japanese style) was a treat, and the view from the ryokan was splendid. The baths were quiet (the ryokan doesn't have that many rooms) and wonderful.
Review 71:Kurayado Iroha is in a very good location and easy to reach on foot. It is also close to all the major sights and shopping. It is very clean, well maintained and comfortable. The staff was very warm, friendly, accommodating and courteous. They take care of everything you need, their service is very personal and efficient. The food is absolutely wonderful and exquisitely prepared. They also take note of your food allergies and preferences. I highly recommend Kurayado Iroha!
Review 72:nothing at all. loved every part of my stay.
Review 73:The professional staff greeted us on our arrival, without needing much documentation, without needing to see our confirmation etc, they were able to identify our booking with just subtly asking our first name to make our experience very personal, pleasant and non-corporate at all. they were extremely friendly and helpful. as we walked into the lobby around dinner time, the staff approached us and handed us a map of dinner spots around the area without us needing to ask. Child Yakuta was prepared for our room for our 4 year old girl. the rooms are new and clean, tea set was beautiful ceramics that were available for purchase at the small shop at the foyer which had many local artist's crafts and souvineers. the breakfast was amazing. The public bath was clean and the iodised spa relaxing, Avene lotions to finish off your bath experience. outdoor spa boasted magnificent outlook to the big tori gate at the shrine.
Review 74:Free Wifi access was available but wasn't that good. However we didn't have high expectations for this given we were on an island. Sometimes it's good to be disconnected from the world and just enjoy the experience
Review 75:Impressed with everything. Really enjoyed the experience here. It was close to the port, main shopping strip and shrine. Staff were lovely. Onsen facilities were great
Review 76:The Japanese dinner was good, but might not keep you filled for long (if you are a westerner who is used to have more). Although there are two onsens located on he roof the assignement for men and women does not change daily as it is custom in other onsens baths.
Review 77:The room was very big by Japanese standards. Furniture and decoration were a nice mix between traditional Japanese and western style. We ewre travelling with our 5 month old and all staff took great care of us although this is not a typical family hotel.
Review 78:There was nothing I didn't like abouth this Ryokan.
Review 79:Staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. Loved the bath on the 5th floor with the best view of the Itsukushima Shrine Gate. Enjoyed a traditional Ryokan with modern facilities (bathroom, wifi access, etc.). Breakfast was wonderful, again with a view of the Gate.
Review 80:The wifi could definitely improve but not a deal breaker.
Review 81:The food was amazing. Staff went out of there way to please. We would highly recommend staying here if you come to miyajima
Review 82:Checkin too strict at 4 pm. Noisy room because of commercial street below. Little flexibility on guest needs.
Review 83:The public bath in terrace and the care of the details.
Review 84:We were picked up from the ferry The service is amazing, they seem to be reading your mind Room was great Bathroom very clean Public bath has a great view Hotel is located in the center of the village Food is very tasty
Review 85:Only one elevator but with only a few rooms this is not a big deal. Wifi was a little hit and miss.
Review 86:The staff treated me like royalty and made me feel very special and welcome. They helped out in every way they could. Very conveniant and the view from the onsen was spectacular. While I am sure there were other guests, I hardly saw anyone else, which is helped by the hotel layout.
Review 87:The island is very busy with tourists during the day - definitely stay overnight to experience the peace and quiet. We had western beds but the window covering is Japanese - paper - so take an eye mask or rise with the sun.
Review 88:Fantastic food - beautifully prepared and presented. View of the famous gate from our window as well as roaming deer. Peace and quiet. Excellent green tea provided for use in room. Kimonos and footwear supplied for use in hotel and out - no need to unpack and great fun to wear to dinner and post dinner walk. Wonderful staff - taxi to and from ferries in the rain (yes it rained a lot on this very green island but this really wasn't an issue so don't worry about that)
Review 89:- The service provided by the staff of the hotel was excellent. They were very helpful, can speak English very well and extremely attentive. -The location was perfect, right in the middle of Miyajima, 5 min walk to both the Itsukushima shrine and the ferry terminal. The view from the rooftop bath at night was beautiful! -The room was really nice even though we got the basic room on the second floor, not noisy at all. The futons were very comfortable, slept very well and the bathroom with tub was very nice! -The breakfast was again amazing, we had the western option and it was very nice. Eggs, sauteed vegetables/fish, salad, yoghurt, fruit, bread..lovely! I would love to come back again and really recommend this place if you are visiting Miyajima. It's well worth the money!
Review 90:We were truly treated like the only guests, like royalty. With respect and concern for every little detail of our comfort and convenience. Excellent english from the manager who attended to us personally. Excellent food and service. Spotless rooms with all comfort. Amazing views from rooftop onsen.
Review 91:Coming in with our hiking boots and backpacks I felt a little out of place in such a nice place, but the staff in no way made us feel like we weren't welcome. :)
Review 92:Wonderful staff were very attentive, the room is clean, spacious, light and airy. The hotel is located in the middle of the shopping area on the island halfway between the teinal and the temple. Very convenient for sight seeing. The meals were excellent!
Review 93:Really can't fault this place.
Review 94:Staff were ridiculously helpful. Room was large, right on the main shopping street but not noisy. Bathroom was modern, clean and bright. Hotel breakfast was a delight with nice views from the restaurant.
Review 95:The traditional Japaness life style. And the beautiful view.
Review 96:Excellent service by staff. Location of ryokan is near to shops and restaurants. Room is clean and onsen place has excellent facilities
Review 97:The mountain side, lower level rooms were rather noisy.
Review 98:The staff were very helpful and responded immediately to any concerns.
Review 99:They don't take debit cards, which is very unusual.
