Reviews for Suginoi Hotel

Review 1:The price with BF and dinner is a bit expensive with type of food they provided. It is crowded some time while walking around the hotel but we understand due to its size of hotel.

Review 2:It is a huge hotel with all facilities - onsen, game center, shopping arcade, swimming pool (which we didn't get a chance to use it). We booked a room for 4 people including dinner and breakfast and the room is impressive (mix of western and Japanese style on Hermitage floor).

Review 3:The property is tricky to navigate at first. The low-ceilinged hallway with some of the shops on the second floor needs updating, as does the unused entry area to the bowling alley.

Review 4:Beautiful room, great amenities, fun activities, wonderful hot springs. Awesome dinner and breakfast buffet. Great location for exploring Beppu.

Review 5:My second visit to suginoi. Poor spread at buffet compared to my last visit in dec 2014. Sang so much praises about their buffet dinner to my family. Set their hopes so high but in the end, the spread was cut drastically. Had to pay extra 540 yen for a puny plate of crab. It was all- you- can-eat last year. For almost 20 000 yen per PERSON per night, I must say it is grossly over priced. Also, staff at buffet are poorly trained. This is the first time I cleared my own table at a 4 star hotel. Think they are short handed as well

Review 6:The newly renovated room with semi open bath is lovely

Review 7:Like fish market, a travel group hotel, One of the staff in dinning area very unfriendly, making us more upset. We attached his photo. The room aircon at high not even cold, we have to open window to get cold air from outside. Everything seem so old, we attached a photo.

Review 8:Nothing we like!

Review 9:Too crowded in the restaurant. To prevent this, I need to have my dinner at 5 pm. If there is one more buffet restaurant is much better.

Review 10:The Englisg standard of the staff is very good.

Review 11:wifi only available in lobby.

Review 12:large room size, nice city view, private onsen bath tub, unlimited use of public onsen, swimming pool and many nice facilities.

Review 13:No wifi in the room.

Review 14:Their dinner buffet is the best Ihave ever eaten. For 2 night stay, you can try their Italian restaurant for a change. Their half board offering is unbeatable. Great service and great value for money.

Review 15:No wifi available, but only in the lobby area. Some furnitures are too old

Review 16:All water activities; Onsen, Aqua garden, Aqua beat. Everything available in this hotel.

Review 17:Lot of people in the breakfast/dinner time.

Review 18:Our room was new, clean, large and beautiful with tatami area and futon beds - quite comfortable. Shower and bathtub outside - quite surprising :) Aqua garden is nice and the light show in the evening - spectacular. Shuttle bus is convenient and on time. The variety of dishes for dinner is really wide and ice-creams and lot of kind of deserts - amazing :) The hotel has atmosphere of retired people health resort ;) but it is not something that should frighten you out - it is rather interesting experience during your journey.

Review 19:Our plan included the breakfast and dinner and dinner buffets which were just average. The selection was large, but trying to keep that many options fresh and hot is always a challenge. Even though the meal was included, we opted to eat away from the hotel the second night.

Review 20:Views from the water side rooms are outstanding . . . 180 degree view of the city, sea and mountains. Our room was large and had both western style beds and futons on tatami mats.

Review 21:We were really satisfied with our stay. The hotel the pool and onsen were wonderful. The dinner and breakfast were worth for a money. We highly recommended this hotel.

Review 22:Buffet was the same 3 days in a row. No wifi in room.

Review 23:We stayed here for one reason: you can enjoy the hot spring bathing in your swimsuit (bikini is OK, t-shirt is more appropriate) in a mixed male/female area. Fantastic rooftop pool area with bubbles, jets, water massage etc. Superb room with tatami area, ultra clean. Buffet dinner is a good standard & well organised: come at 7pm to avoid crowds. Don't expect gourmet cooking.

Review 24:No Wi-Fi in room, only available in lobby area.

Review 25:Got upgraded to extra large suite room in Hana building which was so large and with all ameneties, buffet dinner was good with options to pay for better dishes like crab legs, free shuttle to and from station, nice onsen facilities with great view

Review 26:Room is large and tidy. staff services at check in counter, restaurant, hot spring and aqua garden are good. Shuttle bus is convenient and on time. Dinner and breakfast quality are good but too many people.

Review 27:Dining rooms were crowded and a bit hectic, although very well managed. No wifi in rooms which was a let down for a hotel so great in other respects.

Review 28:Room on Hermitage floor was fantastic and was excellent value for money. Best hotel room we have ever hard. Disappointed not to be staying for longer! Bath on private terrace excellent. Endless free tea, coffee and juices in a room next to our room. Food, although buffet style was really good quality and freshly prepared. Japanese, Chinese and western.

Review 29:We requested non-smoking room, but were allocated a room just adjacent to the smoking area and lobby. We suffered from noise nuisance until 2:00 a.m..

Review 30:Too crowded. And many of chinese tourists.

Review 31:Price are very reasonable when compare to facilities and foods. Room is big and view of Beppu wan is superb. Aqua garden pool is good experience for outdoor onsen.

Review 32:Complicated n many walking to the hot spring

Review 33:Check in ,without room key ,fortunetly met n approahed a beautiful staff ,she escort us to the room ,the hotel comply with 3 different complex building ,is hard n away apart with the bulky luggage to understand where to find my room

Review 34:The only hiccup is the booking of the private bath. We made booking on-line before arrival, confirmed with the front desk when we arrived, but when we got there, they didn't hv our booking. They didn't speak English and took us to another private bath! Finally, theyarranged an Eng-speaking staff to sort out for us.

Review 35:We stayed for one night and booked a private bath and also enjoyed the public bath. We were most surprised about the buffet that offered such a wide range of cuisines. Great food, great facilities and great stay.

Review 36:Awesome customer service at the poolside They spoke excellent English and were easily the most welcoming in Japan, which says a lot, because Japanese people are so friendly in general.

Review 37:The bath tub was outside in open space - too cold to use in winter.

Review 38:The room was surprisingly spacious and luxurious with a magnificent view of the city. Great hot spring pools and good food.

Review 39:No wifi in the room

Review 40:Excellent onsen and Aqua garden and entertainment facilities; we were given a free upgrade to the superbly delicious fine dining Italian dinner; staff were friendly and very helpful; bus service was prompt in sending us to and fro the train station.

Review 41:The air-conditioning is poor.

Review 42:The Pool and the Onsen was great! Sunrise, sitting in the Onsen was the best! Around Christmas there is also a very beautiful light-up.

Review 43:A beautiful hotel with lots of activities. Great open air onsen with nice view especially at the night.

Review 44:Long queue/waiting for dinner needs to be improved!

Review 81:If we don't eat at their restaurant, there isn't any other food outlets within or near the hotel. Their coffee joint did offered only drinks in the evening and closed as early as 7-8pm.

Review 82:We like the hotel lobby which is spacious & bright. It has a grand view of Beppu City from a high point. They sell a variety of local food products at their shop near the swimming pool. We loved the swimming pool. The rooms were very spacious and gives us a grand view of Beppu as well.

Review 83:I would like to stay more than 1 night but the hotel was fully booked.

Review 84:This is my second time in Suguinoi, My husband and I booked western style room of 18000 yen breakfast included..reasonable price. Surprise!!!..the hotel gave us a room in grace floor with half open air bathroom. Wonderful holiday. The room was clean, nice view, good staff, location was up the mountain so if you would like to go out you should go by free shuttle bus to beppu station. Staff told us walking from the mountain is about 10 min. but we walked more than 10 min. and got less than a half way down. So, we walked back to have dinner in the hotel, which was ok. Onsen was good both indoor and outdoor with wonderful view. Yes, we would like to go back again.
