Reviews for Hotel Berg en Bos

Review 1:The room was fair for the price we paid but we definetely were please with the attention the owner gave us. Breakfast was fresh and very good. I loved the fact that owner was always ensuring we had all we need.

Review 2:Quite much noise from hallway and adjacent rooms. No elevator (not that it matters to me)

Review 3:Friendly staff and fast wi-fi. Nice breakfast and cheap price.

Review 4:really noisy at night - front door slamming, stairs, walls seem very very thin. i don't believe it was a case of noisy guests but rather that any noise travels easily. carpets throughout the hotel (including rooms) is in need of replacement. the lobby and hallways smell very musty (thankfully our room did not). the bathroom was quite small and in need of a major update. while clean, it was dingy and depressing. you couldn't flush the toilet if someone had before you - need to wait for tank to stop running first. the cost of the stay, while cheaper than directly in the center of town, was still slightly high given the general facilities of the hotel.

Review 5:good location - quiet area and very close to a bus stop (as well as city center). breakfast was great - the staff takes great care with that detail. the front desk staff (presumably the owner?) was a very friendly, helpful, professional guy. room was comfortable overall. they've taken care to paint walls and add new artwork, but the carpet throughout the whole hotel needs replacing. wifi worked flawlessly. free parking all around the residential area where the hotel is located.

Review 6:The hotel can invest in new tap and faucet. The tap was old and needs replacement. The window should be fixed properly because the latches were loose.

Review 7:The staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, on time and enough.

Review 8:Noisy guests late at night.

Review 9:Clean rooms, ample good breakfast and 15 min. walk from town centre. 3 minutes from Apenheul which was our destination for a family day on Saturday.

Review 10:Basic, rather aged facilities

Review 11:Great location and friendly staff.

Review 12:The front dest clerk should look at his Booking.com website more frequently.

Review 13:all was exellent

Review 14:Breakfast could have been improved it was a bit stale on days

Review 15:I found the walk to Town and the Palace a decent distance and a nice truely Dutch place.

Review 16:The room was small but had everything you'd expect in a hotel room. The breakfast was good and the service very friendly and efficient.

Review 17:Not much

Review 18:Very good beds & clean and warm rooms, owners friendly and helpful

Review 19:They have really small room according to big money Other thing were ok

Review 20:Breakfast

Review 21:I liked both the closeness to the city center and the national park.

Review 22:No eating places in the vicinity, although there was a Spar supermarket at the end of the road, which was a life saver.

Review 23:This is a good friendly family run hotel, in an excellent location for Apenheul and Het Loo. I walked to Apenheul in about 25 mins and Het Loo in about 15. The hotel is in the middle of the two. Lots of bus stops around if you don't like walking. Good breakfast and the rooms are fine. I had a look at a single room and it is a little on the small side, but again fine if you only want a bed and a bathroom. I will definitely go back there.

Review 24:Nothing to mention...

Review 25:The room was simple but complete for one-night-stay (like I did).Breakfast was just excellent, fresh bread, egg and good coffee.

Review 26:While in a lovely residential area, it wasn't a short walking distance to the city centre. Bus transport helped.

Review 27:Quiet location, very comfortable room with private toilet/shower, good dining facilities. Host was able to let us check in early and offered service in the evening as well.

Review 28:Too soft beds. I advise to sleep with no pillow to weaken this inconvenience.

Review 29:Location is very convenient to visit monkeys in Apenhaul and Het Loo palace in one day; this is 10 minutes by bike (in opposite directions) that can be taken in the hotel. For travelers by train, a few minutes by bus 16 from the station. Very beautiful surroundings.

Review 30:Definately in need of a makeover as the whole place looked a little bit scruffy. Very small and cramped en suite. Banged my head on towel rail every time I got off the loo!

Review 31:quiet location

Review 32:Our daughter had a fever our first night. The family living there/ownerswere amazingly helpful and supportive. Their help and understandingduring this time was such a weight off our minds, that we could focus onour little one. We intended 1 night and ended up staying 4, and foundthis easy to do at a place like this. And the area the hotel is in abeautiful area with huge forests only a few blocks away.

Review 33:I love the calm of this city, and this hotel is the perfect hotel for me staying in Apeldoorn. I'ts a small hotel, holded by a family. They are very (very) smart, always smiling. They do the best they can to give you all confort and facilities. Everytime I need to go in Apeldoorn, I check this hotel first, because it's my favorite one in Apeldoorn. PS: Hotel rents bikes. They are of excellent quality, I recommend you to take one during your stay.

Review 34:Very good value for money. We chose a budget room which was just as good as most more expensive rooms. The hotel is ideally placed for visiting Appeldoorn as it is a 15 minutes' walk from the amazing Het Loo palace and gardens, and 15 minutes in the other direction from the centre of this very attractive little town; the hotel proprietor kindly recommended a Chinese restaurant 10 minutes' walk away but if you go on another 5 minutes you come to the town centre with many vibrant cafés. You can park on the street by the hotel. Breakfast was very good with freshly warm breads and eggs.

Review 35:not any complain; just a remark. The room we booked was a budget room for € 66,- per room per night. The room was really small and so was the bathroom. The double bed 1.40 mtr. wide (for us no problem because we're used to that size) although the room was small, it was O.K for us for just 1 night and only for sleeping.

Review 36:Well kept. Clean.Very friendly and helpful staff.Close to city centre/restaurants and also close to "Het Loo" national museum/country side.

Review 37:It was not a "chain" hotel, some sort of big corporation. No, instead it was a simple hotel, a family business. I loved the simplicity of this hotel, the sympathy of people working there. I recommend it a lot !!!

Review 38:I dislike the sank is out of the toilet. Besides, the hotel should advise the public transportation in their website. Luckily, the bus driver is very nice and advise me the correct bus stop. Otherwise, I could not find the places.

Review 39:The hotel owner is very friendly and very kind. I like the breakfast. The location is very near the public transportation.

Review 40:Bathroom has to be renovated, Carpet has to be changed. Breakfast is o'k, but I have to say that it could be some vegetables. Noisy rooms. You can really hear everything form the next door.

Review 41:The location is quite good. It is close to the Palace that is the main purpose of coming to Apeldoorn, but it is not so close to the station at the same time. You can rent bycicles.

Review 42:The hotel is a nice, clean and friendly managed family business near to the down town, the price is convenient and ideally for short trips. The breakfast is very good considering the low prices. When I will need I will stay again in Berg en Bos Hotel.

Review 43:The room was terrible, this is the worst room I have ever been in, theebd was terribly uncomfortable and I had the worse sleep of my life, thesheets were horrid and hard and had so much bleach that my skin was allitchy, the carpet in the room was red and old as was the radiator whichwas old and dirty. The windows was dirty and looked like they had neverbeen cleaned. The towels were left on the bed- nice thought but theywere awful, they looked used and were so thin rather than being soft andfluffy. When I stepped into the bathroom I nearly cried, it washorrible, the toiled was positioned in an awkward spot , the tiles weredirty and there were yello stains on the floort, the shower was a jokepushed otwards the end of the bathroom I felt sick, the tiles on thefloor were cracked and wonky and again there was mildew and dirtinbetween the tiles which looked as if they had not been cleaned, Iwould never recomend staying here untuil they make some major impromentsto the bedrooms, the pictures are so misleading.

Review 44:The owner was very nice and hospitable and the breakfast room was cleanand fresh looking.

Review 45:I hurt myself on the towel hanger in the bathroom as it is just abovethe toilet and I hurt my head standing up. They should move it toanother location.

Review 46:Very friendly, I arrived very late and they where waiting for me.Perfectbreakfast and very kind personnel.

Review 47:Bed could have been more comfortable

Review 48:Excellent value for money - wonderful staff, good breakfast & wellsituated for an easy walk into the centre of Apeldoorn plus very closeto Paleis Het Loo.

Review 49:Room was a bit outdated and small.

Review 50:The staff was wonderful! Very kind and attentive! Excellent breakfast!

Review 51:Loudest toilet ever.

Review 52:Helpful and friendly staff. Free street parking.

Review 53:It was not as good as a 3 star hotel is supposed to be. I would give only 1 star to that hotel.

Review 54:Little dated in the rooms. Mattress was a little soft.

Review 55:The location & breakfast was wonderful.

Review 56:Nice place for stay Good breakfast Nice room Silent infrastructure - no noise from main street

Review 67:they did not accept our booking and say that you must pay in cash and they did not give us the rooms that I reserved.

Review 68:Welcoming atmosphere and comfort. Close to shops and convenient for car parking.

Review 69:Nice hotel, kind staff.

Review 70:Room was noisy and old fashioned. Bathroom below expectation with some mould in the corners.
