Reviews for Hotel Jurmala Spa
Review 1:We asked for double bed, but we got two connected twin beds. A bit bothering for a couple in love. Really, no complementary water in 4* hotel?
Review 2:The best pools/spa area in Jurmala. Great warm pools and saunas will make your winter day amazing!
Review 3:This hotel have a only one english news channel which is Russia Today. This channel provide only russian propaganda. I recommend a management to change it to EuroNews or BBC, a which is a most common news channel in Europe.
Review 4:We have stayed in this hotel before and we always come back. It is ideal for a short break at the seaside. Perfectly located in short walkting distance from the beach and restaurants. Great Reception staff, rich breakfast. The swimming pools and saunas were too crowded but it is understandable as it was peak of Christmas season and the hotel was full of holiday makers. Perfect value for money.
Review 5:Based on stay in a Superior room type: - Obsolete and overused furniture in the room - Only two towels per person: one tiny, one slightly bigger - The bed extremely soft - No tea/coffee making facilities in the room - Tiny walk in shower with white plastic curtain - Cheap lipton tea bags and undrinkable coffee for breakfast (order nice for extra $$) - Mediocre breakfast, ie low quality of offered food choices - At noon the parking lot was still covered with snow and ice(!)
Review 6:1 hour waiting line for check-in and even then thy did not have our room ready. Did not even apologize. No tea/coffee making facilities in superior room. The room was poorly cleaned, dirty towel in the drawer, shampoo from previous guests in the shower, shower head itself barely hanging. Room looked worn out and in need of renovation. Breakfast was very poor as well.
Review 7:Convenient parking in front of hotel. Location is good.
Review 8:We had to wait in a queue to check in for more than 30 minutes, we had to wait also long to get locker key for SPA. Breakfast coffe was awful.
Review 9:Good location, many saunas and pools in SPA.
Review 10:Smell from sewerage in bathroom, same breakfast every day, room was too hot, conditioner did not work properly.
Review 11:SPA treatments were really worth the price and effective.
Review 12:Spa was open just to 18.00. We arrived at about 15.30 as the check in time was 15.00, we did lack time to enjoy spa.
Review 13:Breakfast was excellent. Staf were very polite and helpfull. It was just what we needed for two of us... Romantic and calm atmosphere. Truly memorable experience
Review 14:SPA. The Hotel guest can be there for free only till 6 PM, but when you are on business, you just finish your job by that time. There were no bathrobe and disposable slippers in the room, what is a normal practice for SPA hotels. You can rent the bathrobe for 10 Euros and buy slipper for 6 Euros.
Review 15:I really enjoyed the meals and great service in the restaurant.
Review 16:Sounds coming from plumbing pipes were disturbing all night. We were in 4th floor with the view to a roof of spa. Not so nice for hotel in Jurmala. Sounds heard from the street through windows. Too soft/cheap matress resulted in aching back for me. Restaurant closed due to some corporative party.
Review 17:Nice interior. Good location.
Review 18:It would be great if water in the rooms was out of charge. It doesn't cost much and that would be just pleasant welcoming...
Review 19:Kind and helpful staff, clean and comfortable rooms
Review 20:WiFi was slow in room. SPA for guests are free until 18:00 ! No bathrobes/sandals in room.
Review 21:Hotel is close to train station. Breakfast was very good!
Review 22:As some other reviewers, I don't think the hotel deserves 4 star rating. In terms of design - very 80's, lots of laminate (including the main reception desk).. I was particularly saddened by the ugly crimson organza curtains covering all windows throughout the communal areas of the hotel hiding the views of the surrounding area - the pedestrian street, beautiful buildings of Jūrmala.. There is a lovely view overlooking the sea and the river from the 11th flood but you can't really see it unless you lift the curtains up. Breakfast. I would have personally preferred a narrower choice but higher quality of food. As a vegetarian I can not comment on the quality of cold meats and the salmon, but the quality of cheese wasn't great, omelet was made soviet-style (tray-baked and watery), coffee was bad. The spa. We only stayed in the hotel for its spa facilities so were disappointed to learn that hotel guests can only access the facilities for free until 6pm. Also, no robes or slippers were offered.
Review 23:The spa, the location of the hotel and the views. Also the staff members we met were friendly and welcoming.
Review 24:Topfloor bar, had no drinklist in english, had no gin tonic, and I don't think the bartender had the spirit.
Review 25:Good location, nice and helpful reception, delicat breakfast, very nice room and the spa is also excellent. We had hotstone-massage and it was fantastiskt. Alltogether a very pleasant place to stay.
Review 26:There are no slippers in the room, so take your own ones, but they are available at hotel for 6 euro. You can use spa only until 18.00 free of charge, if you wanna stay longer you have to pay 9 euro per person
Review 27:Good stay, very nice spa and massage.
Review 28:We did not get a family room, but 2 doubles next to each other. We actually wanted a twin room for the kids, but apparently it was not possible. They did bring an extra blanket though. There was an awful smell in one of the bathrooms (sewer problem?), and the furniture was a bit worn out. The spa was free only until 6 pm, 50% discount afterwards. They wanted to charge a full price if we didn't make it out of the door by noon the day of check-out. That's a bit unfriendly - in the other SPA hotels, SPA has been free of charge as long as you enter before check out. We didn't know in advance, got there only at 11 and had 1 hour. I ended up blow drying kids' hair in a restroom.
Review 29:Breakfast was great - including very nice salmon and good pancakes. The SPA was also great, had a pool with warm water & small waterfall, 120 cm deep, kids loved it. The location was great close to the seaside and the pedestrian street with all the restaurants and shops.
Review 30:One of the room was smelling really bad and the stuff at the reception was terrible slow - ~it took ~30min to get the room card :(
Review 31:Location was great and the view from the room window was fabulous. We got the 9th floor ;)
Review 32:Nothing
Review 33:Amazing hotel with lovely, helpful deception staff. Great spa facilities and the perfect location. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. A very high standard!
Review 34:The air conditioner in our room was rather noisy and seems too was not helping with the air conditioning. The room was too warm and we couldn't open the windows as the swimming pool air conditioning system was beneath us (we were on the 9th floor) and was rather noisy too.
Review 35:Beautiful views, friendly staff, good food, great facilities and we were blessed with the most glorious weather!
Review 36:The food in the hotel restaurant was mostly good, but there were "but"s. Also the waiter wasn't the example of high level service.
Review 37:We liked the room- calm and neat. Spa was wonderful place to relax, lots of saunas and nice swimming area. Nice location of the hotel generally and beautiful sights. Jurmala in autumn time is amazing.
Review 38:- we made reservation 3 person, but there were toiletries only for 2 persons, we had to remind it every day, that we have reservation for 3 person - reception staff was jaded, we had to ask or explaine everything several times (parking, extra bed etc) - so, a lot of small details that ruined our vacation
Review 39:- breakfast - spa center
Review 40:It was pretty difficult to find you because you dont have any bigger or visible directing signs. Later when I walked I noticed 1 sign on the fence but in my opinion it is too small to notice when you drive. Also 1 double bed was very uncomfortable because it was sliding apart all night.
Review 41:I liked the location and rich morning buffee
Review 42:1.The stuff not only does not pick up the phone when you call from the room, but has the insolence to say this is their policy, when busy. 2. Television does not work properly through the hotel , because they don't want to spend money to improve internet connection, which is too weak to carry a load of too many rooms at the same time
Review 43:hotel has a great location and a good infrastructure
Review 44:Room was not cleaned very well but was clean and nice by itself. List room rates are too high but are ok with proper discounts available for early bookings.
Review 45:Very impressive breakfast, good reception's and spa personnel, spa center is relaxing, clean and not overcrowded, free wi-fi that actually works
Review 46:Special requests not met. Reception Staff very ill mannered, not interested in following up the complaint about the missing special facilities that were requested at the time of booking and confirmed by the hotel management that they would be met. The reception staff demanded written proof. No effort to repair the defect Bathroom Ventilator.
Review 47:Location convenient to all town facilities.
Review 48:There is a lack of well trained staff. It was not possible to get contact with hotel reception before the stay for essential questionaries. Tried to call several times in the different times of day.
Review 49:Good wellness facilities with several bathes and pools. Good breakfast. Close to seaside and main walking street.
Review 50:One member is staff on reception with large queues all of my stay. Management in office next door did not bother to help out once. Bar closed early one night without any explanation. Also a smile from the staff wouldn't go a miss given that they always wanted paying up front for everything. Would have used the room bar more if it was more reasonably priced. This is by no means a 4 star hotel and would be struggle to make 3 in other countries
Review 51:Location and cleaners did a good job on old rooms
Review 52:pool area is very small, no real swimming pool, room was tiny, tv channels were weird. smell of pool in all hotel. needs repairs. in double room - 2 beds are together not 1 bed! no smiling staff
Review 53:nice saunas, ok breakfast, very close to beach and restaurants
Review 54:The bathroom was in a very poor state, more like 1 star not 4! Also, no warning on the booking information that hotel is in the restricted conservation zone and an entry fee is required to enter the zone. Otherwise, one will be having very unpleasant conversation with the police officer.
Review 55:The hotel was right at the centre, close to the beach.
Review 56:- extremely unprofessional staff. - spa receptionist was very rude, we even canceled our treatment because of her attitude. - dirty room, sticky floor in bathroom, very bad cleaning service. - breakfast was very poor
Review 57:Location, location, location
Review 58:Hotel personnel (reception and restaurant) are rude and arrogant: 1. No 'hello and welcome to our hotel' greeting, no smile at all - feeling like we are obliged to them something. And this is the first feeling you get at check in desk... 2. We had to wait 5 minutes until the receptionist turned to us without saying even 'hello how can I help you", despite it was only us at the desk 3. We arrived 5.40pm, and the free SPA entrance was until 6pm. I have asked if possible to grant us free entrance till 6.30 or so...the resposne was 'no'. I than explained that this is our wedding night and would be nice to have the access considering we will be late for 30 minutes only or so. The receptionist responded 'no' (seem like she knows only how to say 'no'...?!). I have asked the hotel manager, but the receptionist lady responded again 'no, the manager won't help you'. I have told the receptionist that - you seem to have really nice attitude to the guests and I would have to rate the hotel with the lowest mark at booking.com...- guess what She responded to me - 'I don't care'... Finally the manager came in with very unhappy face and granted the SPA entrance - but guess again ... No 'you are welcome' was said to us! Do you think I will stay again or recommend this hotel to someone...
Review 59:Location and SPA
Review 60:The waters didn't smile at all... :(
Review 61:Location of the hotel is excellent. We had a room on 9th floor which was really nice, too. The breakfast was good. The only thing that was missing was sparkling wine :).
Review 62:We had terrible night, we slept only two hours, because hotel administration celebrated hotel's anniversary. Our room was in 4'th floor and music was so loudly that we couldn't sleep. In the middle of the night I called two times to reception to make music not so loud, but nothing changed, then I went to reception, but administrator said that she can't do nothing and gave us the key from another room. So 3am in the night we went to sleep to another room, but we were so nervous that we couldn't sleep til 5am so the night was very "nice". In the morning, then I asked about discount for the room, administrator said that she can't make discount because I booked the room by booking.com system. Very unpolite and unfirendly personal. So be sure that your room will be not on the same side like restaurant, because parties is more important than people comfort. This hotel made our trip to Jurmala terrible.
Review 63:Good place in the city. Nice "Seaside bar" - the best in this hotel.
Review 64:The room smelled a little bit of mold.
Review 65:The location is very good, close to the sea and main street if attractions. The staff is nice and very helpfull.
Review 66:Internet on the 9th floor was bad, the TV system too complicated too slow and changed channel how it pleased. The internet needs to be better and the tv system changed
Review 67:Staff Spa Room in general
Review 68:The breakfast was not so good as we are used to. It was bad that they only had pork meat as a option for meat on sandwich and sausage. They could have had chicken sausage also or turkey slice for the sandwich. That would be better to have a variety of options for people who don't eat pork, since every meat was pork in the breakfast.
Review 69:The wiew from the balcony, the wellness oasis,
Review 70:Not bath in the room, only shower.
Review 71:SPA centre inside in the hotel is excellent. Cabaret show is good. Bar on the 11th floor with excellent view for sea.
Review 72:Air conditioner not working in room. VERY hot in the morning with the sunshine on the winfow
Review 73:The spa is very good. Everything clean and well maintained. Wonderful views from the upper floors.
Review 74:Non
Review 75:Everything was great, especially the breakfast. there were a lot dishes to choose from. The hotel is located right in the centre. Definately will come back agaig in the summer.
Review 76:The pillows could be more comfortable (or there should be pillow menu introduced, when it's a spa).
Review 77:I've been to Jurmala Spa several times - I simply like this place. Nice rooms, nice spa with big choice of saunas and water massages. Close to the sea. Not pretentious but high quality.
Review 78:problems with car parking during hot season or weekends.Coffe should be improved at breakfest offer. SPA was fully booked at the day of arrival. Should be added any attention on Booking.com site about necessary advanced bookings. No other complains!
Review 79:Good location , beach just 400-500m away from hotel , quite large wellness center.
Review 80:Need change kids age for spa procedures , because 2-12 age for paraffin hands and feet bath to early and my 6 years daughter said its too hot , but it was procedure pakedge . Where all was good for her age kids
Review 81:Nice , clean hotel, friendly stuff , excellent relaxing spa procedures , good price... I highly recommend Jurmala spa hotel specially with kids :)
Review 82:Nice SPA center, 2 different swimming pools, lot of different saunas. Good for young children. Large playroom for children in the restaurant. Good view from upper floor- better if you choose room with balcony. Sea is very close. Good restaurant buffet.
Review 83:Rooms are a bit "tired" and need some renovation
Review 84:Friendly staff, great location, relaxing atmosphere, very good breakfast, gym & great SPA area with pools and saunas
Review 85:I didn't like the beds in the hotell, were far too soft.
Review 86:I must say I'm impressed, I really like it in Jurmala Spa hotell. It's really everything you need to relax, in just one place: Spa with massages and wide range other spa treatments, swimming pools with at least 4 different saunas, aromatherapy and salt sauna included, 3 jacuzzi, a really great, spacious and weel-equiped gym, restaurant that serves really tasty breakfasts, and the charming town of Jurmala with 33 km long beach - perfect to have a walk by the sea, regardless the season. The city of Riga with its picturesque architecture and good coffee nearby. I am really satisfied:)
Review 87:There no plate for fruit in the room.
Review 88:Everything good,location,polate staff,excelent breakfest and dinner.Very good mattress,pillows,blanket.Good parking.Vanderfool spa.
Review 89:After 18.00 swimming pool and saunas were available for additional prize (in November 2014 there were no such thing). Additionally payed dinner were not so good (may be it was because of poor activity of guests). Check in at 15.00, check out 12.00.
Review 90:Breakfast - very good!
Review 91:Very hot room, no aircon, only one smoking place per the whole hotel, Spa facilitys greatly overcrouded and not very clean.
Review 92:Good breakfast, nice room. Friendly staff.
Review 93:The room service working from 12pm. I wanted to order a cup of tea at 11am...:(
Review 94:Spa is just amazing!! Four different sauna. Two swimming pools, jacuzzi. I really enjoy it!
Review 95:This spa hotel doesn't offer you free slippers, nor free bathrobes. Bathrobes are rented out for €10, and I can tell that they are the same as I saw eight years ago. The saunas were full and actully cold because of the amount of people crowded in and opening the doors all the tiime. They want you to pay the bill in full on arrival. The receptionist refused to sell me a bottle of water for €3 citing that I have not "open credit". At the same time, the minibar in the room is full of drinks, and no one worries about the credit. There were two beds in the room, although I have specifically requested one big bed ("double"). The parking lot was full when I arrived, so no free parking if you are not lucky.
Review 96:The spa part is rather good, the breakfast is reasonable.
Review 97:Long line during check-in (had to wait for half an hour), crowded saunas and pools area. Double bed with two separate mattresses that were too soft.
Review 98:Location, top floor room, breakfast selection.
Review 99:The standart double rooms are besides eachother in a row..And every 2 room is divided by 2 doors just to use as double room for a family stay..But when these rooms are used single, then the isolation is a problem between the rooms..This is not good.. There was no real fruit juice in the breakfast..They are giving the juices which is done from powder..
Review 100:Perfect location, spacious & comfortable rooms..Very clean Spa with many options..
Review 101:Some of the staff was angry and spoke only Russian. Car parking was a little bit of problem and sometimes TV has lag. Also, in winter there aren't many restaurants opened in evening and while we stayed there, Seabar (in hotel's top floor) was closed.
Review 102:Staff was cool. breakfast was a bit cool but still delicious. Room was clean and comfy.
Review 103:No free bathrobes (10 eur for rent + 20 eur deposit) for guests, double bed is made from two twin beds, strange smell in standart room
Review 104:Place in town, pool and baths zone.
Review 105:Spa area is free of charge only till 18.00. After you have to pay fullprice. There was very cold at the room and corridorer.
Review 106:We got beautiful view from the window and breakfast was acceptable.
Review 107:As always - long queues in pool`s reception after lunch and hotels reception at 3:00 pm.
Review 108:I`m always choosing this place during winter time: perfect SPA, good water activities, location. Rich breakfast table. Everything for acceptable price.
Review 109:We got not exactly what we chose according to the add photos - the romantic bath before hot stone massage was way smaller than shown in add. Administrators in SPA reception showed a little interest in their job only. Not really a value for money, treatments too expensive according to the quality. Hotel is hard to find even with gps because of many one way streets. Elevators tricky to use because the hotel cards sometimes fail to work.
Review 110:City is beautiful. SPA treatments and qualified specialists were good. Polite treatment specialists despite the administration. Reception very helpfull.
Review 111:SPA complex was amazing, and the other guests and staff was really polite and nice. The hotel is next to Joma street - and Beach. This is in the heart of this resort city.
Review 112:The fact that when booking through booking.com spa was available only till 6pm. We were not informed of that on the arrival. Also the reception staff was mostly very friendly and helpful, but one young lady was very unfriendly, abrupt and it felt as if we were a nuisance for her. It did left an unpleasant feeling. Other than that it was great.
Review 113:Hotel was very good, great location and very good breakfast buffet.
Review 114:Was there 4 years ago, nothing changes... Stuff is really unfriendly, sad angry faces at reception and in SPA. One of the worse attitudes I ever seen. SPA doesn't worth a visit. Upper bar is a very boring place. Rooms are clean, but no safe. Even at superior room. Shower is a mockery, even hostels have better shower head. Overall, the hotel is not that bad, especially for that kind of money, except terrible personnel at reception. If you are looking for pleasant and relaxing place to stay, look somewhere else.
Review 115:Service at restaurant.
Review 116:We booked Standard Room with Wellness Center Access. It turned out, the access is limited to 0800-1800. Since we stayed just 1 night and arrived quite late, it was a disappointment. This time limit wasn't mentioned anywhere in the room description or booking confirmation. And standard room in SPA hotel comes without slippers or robe. It was the first time I saw a manual for TV set in hotel room. And for the reason: it took us 10 minutes to turn it on. The breakfast is very basic and coffee is terrible
Review 117:Wellnes centre is OK, if not big
Review 118:Saturday evening both restaurant and bar were closed. It's strange to pay extra money for bathrobe in SPA hotel.Sunday evening women started to clean floor in Wellness center while we were still relaxing (at least trying)...you should do something with management of the hotel!
Review 119:Perfect saunas, massages
Review 120:Can't use restaurant and room service due a private event. Most part of the guest must go to had dinner outside the hotel. Incredible, not usual in a 4 Stars hotel
Review 121:Hotel spa, situation, prices
Review 122:The staff in the reception in the SPA section was not polite..not talking about everybody..in particularly one person, that made me and my friends (and I have been booking al the trip, telling everybody how nice it was) a little bit upset No smile..not a really nice service..at the end we are paying a lot of money and it's important to show us some kindnes and respect
Review 123:Staff in the reception the rooms the spa treatments restaurant
Review 124:Noise in the rooms, loud music from nightclub penetrating the walls. Very poor restaurant in the hotel, poor service, long waiting time, food definitely not worth waiting for. If possible try other restaurants in the neighbourhood
Review 125:Good location, good breakfast
Review 126:It was a huge sürpriise that our booking did include SPA visitation only until 6 pm on Friday evening and we had to pay for extra stay. This was nowhere written on booking or hotel information. I also noticed that this seemed to be a problem via booking.com since other guest didn't have this problem. Also - all additional services can be paid by cash only. Warning - no slippers in the room, you have to have your own or purchase new ones for cash.
Review 127:I liked rooms and quality.
Review 128:The limited English of the staff at reception - and my lack of local language skills - failed to solve a problem of dinner reservation misunderstanding. Senior administrator had the language skills and it is best for foreigners to ask for a senior when there may be a problem.
Review 129:Location & facilities.
Review 130:- Lack of attention to details. The bathroom is quite dirty, water does not go away. If you take a shower - the whole room floor is filled with water after 5 minutes. Bathroom toiletries are worst quality - seems they have been there since the nineties. Sink, walls are not clean. Towels are cheap, rigid and smell of chlorine. - Pool at additional cost of 8 euros after 6pm - even for guests - how outrageous is that. - Reception, at the Pool - staff is not welcoming and not very professional. - Breakfast is poor. Coffee quality is bad. Seems like they do not care about their customers. The hotel should really considering major staff training and facilities renovation.
Review 131:Location. Wifi. Free parking.
Review 132:Everything was great.
Review 133:Excellent location in the heart of Jurmala. The rooms are clean and the breakfast is great. There is free pool and saunas till 18.00.
Review 134:Decor in hallway was old. Ugly carpets. No big deal. Cosmetic.
Review 135:Spa facilities were superb - so many treatment options! Wonderful pool and saunas. Tried salt cave and salt sauna for the first time. Interesting!
Review 136:Overpriced -- and the breakfast and dinner at the hotel were terrible! The only bad dining we had during our 2 weeks in the Baltics...
Review 137:Good location, decent spa.
Review 138:There was very strong smell of smoke in our room even though the room was non-smoking. Free access to the pool till 18:00 is very incovenient - basically forces to pay for the pool while the rooms are already too expesive and should definitely include free pool access.
Review 139:Excellent location on the pedestrioan Jomas street and close to the beach. Very good pool. Professional staff.
Review 140:Wifi is just not working it was nightmare ... I do not understand how itcan be like this in rooms for 240 Euros price per night ///also was very noisy from aicons at night
Review 141:We did like location , spa , staff
Review 142:SPA, breakfast. Nice hotel, great location
Review 143:i like everything about this hotel staff food all you need in a hotel spa gym comfort been 4 times this year best hotel in jurmala
